Change Button Colors - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

Hello all;
I just saw the pictures of the new HTC Rezound. It looks like, in the pictures at least, that the LED buttons (home, menu, back, and search) are red. I think that looks really god and would like to know if there is any way to get the LED buttons on the Inc 2 red? Is this even possible or would I have to totally take apart the phone and swap out the white LEDs with red ones? Sorry if this has been answered before. I couldn't find any threads like this.
I am running an AlphaRevX rooted Inc 2
CyanogenMOD 7.1.0.1
Android version 2.3.7
Thanks in Advance!

I'd think you would have to take it apart, since these are leds not like a screen. I was hoping something could come of it for our phone too. I love the RED!!!

It's a good. Just thought I'd help a helpful person. I'd love to change the color of the softkeys as well though I think that red is sexy as all get out.

If anyone wants to rip the phone apart. You could probably place a red film over the lights. Not sure though just a brain fart.

I thought the same thing. I did this with the gauges in my car a long time ago and made them blue without having to replace any leds. Not sure if there would be enough room behind the glass to add film tho. I really don't see anyone trying this unless they are already replacing a screen.
Sent from my Incredible 2 using Tapatalk

The red is pretty nice, but this would have to be a hardware change, not software. I'd guess it's white LEDs lighting the bottom buttons, good luck desoldering and soldering new extremely tiny LEDs to the phones motherboard and getting the right resistance to maintain the correct voltage - it's not gonna happen.

Moving to Q&A

Im not 100% sure they're leds. I just got the phone yesterday and while playing with it i noticed that the buttons rotate as you rotate the phone. I.e. if in portrait mode the home is facing with the roof up and if in the landscape mode the house (and all the other buttons) changes so that the roof is facing up again.
Which got me thinking that it has to be a separate screen or a continuation of the original screen. I shined a light at an angle at that part and noticed that theres a cutout as wide as the screen and about a cm high.
It has to be more than LEDs, LEDs dont change direction. But I dont know if the color can be changed.
***EDIT*** I looked up some videos which show the disassembly process and it seems that its not a screen. and even if you wanted to add a film over it, you might run into problems when you take off the digitizer since it needs to be heated to get under it.

She definitely likes it better. Thanks. How are you at editing 9.pngs? She wants to know if the blue background for the keypad can be changed to purple also and it looks like that one is a 9.png. I am going to try working with 9.pngs this weekend to change Legendary and ERA lettering to blue. Hope it isn't too tough.

Yeah I threw it together in about ten minutes. The buttons were pulled from a purple froyo theme I had put together. I believe I got the original button images from the erebos froyo port. I put them into the dialer from gitusum's ICS theme as it was the only gingerbread dialer I had on my laptop. I realized after that the blue looked a bit odd. I then noticed your themed dialer had the same buttons. I was going to modify it tonight but you beat me to it. The changes definately make it look cleaner.

The .9 pngs are not that bad once you understand the concept. The guide below details the process. Remember when editing the decompiled .9 png's to make sure the edge pixels which define the stretching remain black or they will not compile. Also do any png compression before compling in eclipse. If you have any questions let me know. It took me a few tries before it went smoothly.

lol funny you would ask that because i was just practicing how to do .9.png lol I have been learning and am pretty sure i have it down pretty good but i havent had a the time to test it out. When i get home Ill post a video that helped me alot!! its simple and to the point
Wow! I guess I need to thank my GF as well for asking for this dialer and hooking me up with you two great guys! Will try and conquer the almighty 9.pngs this weekend. Both of your help will be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to the video. Thanks again.
This is quite impressive! I'm not a huge fan of purple, but this certainly makes it look badass...I came across this thread by pure accident lol
Would you guys be able to do the same thing, but a lime green/black dialer please?

You're just gonna have to open the phone up.
When I dropped out my digitizer I noticed that the button has 2 "wings" that come off the side and hold the button onto the frame. I couldn't tell what they were made of but they were flexible which is probably what goes out or dust and pocket lint get under the button.

I think the one x is too much phone for me.

So I'm loving the phone but I feel like its too much for me. I had been using an iPhone 4 and a nexus s while in Korea. I'm currently in Germany and I was tempted by this phone. I was actually gonna return it but I guess there's no return policy with telekom in Germany? Any who, I might actually go back to the nexus s as a daily driver or even a droid pro then have the one x as my weekend phone. I blame apple for making me use to that tiny 3.5 inch screen lol

Haha priceless
I think if you are going to have a phone with several cores and so many features and basically act as a mini- computer then you should have a screen this size, this is just perfect not more or less just perfect and the 720p display is siiiiiiiiick
Cheers
Yea this phone being a power house was the selling point for me. The last phone I owned that was similar in size was the HTC evo which was a few years ago.

Haha, I've been going bigger and bigger too, each time saying it's big enough. iPhone (3.5"), SGS (4.0"), Infuse (4.5") and now the One X (4.7").
I remember when they announced the Dell Streak 5 and I thought 5" was ridiculous for a phone. Now that'd be a barely noticeable bump in size over the One X.
But at the same time, with the power these phones have, I've come to rely on my phone for a whole lot, and the extra real estate is very nice. The thinness makes it not seem so big. Plus with the bigger screen and 720p, it's actually not too bad to watch short shows or movies on.
I have to agree that originally having the phone, I started to find myself thinking it is far too big. However after nearly a month, I can't help but look at it thinking yes, this is the best sized phone ever. Its sick.

You can use root explorer to change it. He just has an app that uses a GUI instead. And yeah I know 4$ is a lot for some shell commands...

Here are the files to change. Multipler is the RGB multipliers. v1_offset is the RGB gamas. Highprefor enables high performance audio. Either 0 or 1. For off and on. And volume boost is yhe amount. 1-3.

cool! my question to you: did you have one of those launch nexus phones with the horrible yellow tint to the screen? i'm just trying to make it look a bit more natural like my rezound, that's all. his stock settings for the kernel looked god awful..it was drenched in blue and actually hurt my eyes! i went back to the stock kernel and the yellow tint actually looked much better to me lol i'm trying to figure out what settings will do just that

It did have a tint of yellow to it. But my values should be good... I'll post em.
Yes the multiplier is the same but the gamas make the difference.

hey thanks for the info. unfortunately, it's still way too blue for my tastes. should i play with the RGB then rather than the gamma?
changing these things seems to do absolutely nothing. is trinity kernel's stock setting over riding these settings or something?
actually, every time i reboot, it goes back to the original settings, so i can't change them with this trinity kernel. wonder if this guy did that so you have to buy his app?

Just make a post in the trinity thread, they'll be more than happy to help you get your screen set up. (For free too, so you don't have to sacrifice that one more gin and tonic or whatever you drink )
Me, I just use the default colors. Morfic and I have similar screens in our phones, apparently.

perhaps I will. didn't know if they would just shoe people away and tell them to buy the app if they want it working or if they'd actually give you a hand... didn't wanna go in there asking first and looking like an asshat by the end lol either way I just went back to stock kernel for now... yeah its a little warmer and yellowish of a hue, but his kernel was way too blue stock.

It shouldnt... are you changing them with root explorer and then saving the files? it should apply as soon as you save them. And yes play with the gamas. If anything just lower the the last value in Multiplier which is the Blue value. I'd lower it to 190 or 195. Then make the Blue gama -4 or so... play with them.

Nothing like the rest of xda.

Oh well yeah they revert upon reboot. Only the app will help you keep the settings on boot.

Just buy the app. Support our hard working Gnex devs. I've bought the Trinity app even though I don't use Trinity.

Screen Tint with viewing angle!!

So it mainly happens with the white colour when i look directly at the screen everything is perfect but when i adjust the viewing angle even slightly the white colour gets this bluish tint is tht normal??
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
It's exactly opposite for me. When I look at it from a straight angle (90°) it looks Yellowish, but when I angle it at 45° the screen becomes pure whitish.
Again, each and every AMOLED screen is different. If I were you I'd not bother to replace the unit.
Sent from my GT-N7100
yh thnx man wasnt planning on replacing it, cuz it doesn't bother me that much but i just wanted to check thats all
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
I too have a tint when viewed at angle, but all my amoled screens i used before had a tint at an angel...it doesn't bother me much
hundreds of posts about it in perhaps also hundreds of threads through the device forums.
as i told in a lot of posts: had to switch through more than 10 note1 screens to get a perfect one,
atm i'm on my 4th note2... i will wait until the 64gb versions are out and start the search again!

SLCD2 is even better! But I've also got the yellow screen white on tilt on my test unit of the GN2.

Hey I just got my Note 2 and I notice that even in the slightest shift of angles theres a blue tint. I really don't want to start the return cycle so I'm just wondering if that's normal and if it will slowly fade over time because I've heard the blue pixels degrade faster? I dont know hahaha
It's only for the whites but somebody please tell me that I'm just being picky lol
Also compared to my macbook its very blue
bump
even I have the same effect. Has it changed for anyone after using it for sometime? Please reply. mine is 1 week old.
Not for mine. R u using any screen protector? I'm using clear type.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Yes ... using the clear type protector

the white color on screen turns creamish or a little yellowish on slightest change in the viewing angle. i'm not concerned with the typical properties of amoled please.
