Carrier name on lock screen on 3.5 roms - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i have had an issue with my carrier name being display on lockscreen as a number instead of "verizion"
it has 6 digits , and also during calls
this is on all 3.5 roms ive tried , niles , newroots and joelz
...when i flash back to skyraider rom with old sense i dont have that issue
also is the weather animi on lockscreen come on by default or is there a setting
i have never had it working either on all 3.5 roms
they both maybe related?

As for the carrier name being wrong, it's either displaying ADR6300, which is your phone's model, or it's displaying a carrier name which you want to change. Either way here you go.
Google is a wonderful thing:
Changer carrier name
As for the weather lock screen, you have to set the lock screen to the weather one. From settings go to Personalize -> Display -> Lock screen type (or something like that. I dunno, I'm on CM7) and select the weather lock screen. It animates automagically.

You did *228 option 1&2 on all of these right? It looks like the provider numbers Verizon uses when connecting to a different provider's tower.

RE: T-Mobile myFaves removal.

RE: T-Mobile myFaves removal.
Hello everyone,
I have a Touch Pro 2 coming in the mail I'm very excited. A big letdown that I noticed in comparison to the EU version of the device is that my home screen has to be the myFaves tab. I was really attached to the flip card style clock home screen. My questions are:
Is there a way to get around this? If so:
Is it necessary that you will need a completely new ROM to do?
Couldn't I just get a copy of the EU edition's ROM, upload that?
Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance.
I have a TP2 and I will say I do NOT have the MyFaves icon as the home icon. I think that it only affects people with MyFaves, but I don't know. I got mine on launch day too.
If the account has no MyFaves, the Myfave screen will not show up at all.
If you account has MyFaves, it will Default to the MyFaves screen, no Flip clock.
Do get the Clock back.. go to Settings tab, select MyFaves.
Select 1. Display, then select Off.

As I suspected. Thanks for confirming it!
A little trick
In most HTC devices, one can go to settings/system and then click the clear storage icon which asks you to type 1,2,3,4 and then hit yes. This hard resets most HTC devices.
As the device is booting and you get past the alignment screen, the device will start loading the carrier specific garbage that's stored in Extended ROM. As it starts loading those programs, one can use the stylus to reset.
The reset on other devices will cause the device to boot without loading the carrier specific stuff. It would be neat to try that out and see if all the TMO stuff is kept off the device. Then you can load only the cabs (programs) you want.
This way the device acts like you've loaded a very clean ROM, usually increases speed etc.
To reload what was on the device originally, one can just go back to the settings/system and hard reset again and let it do so without resetting during the loading of the carrier specific software.
I'd like to know if anyone has done this with the TP2 from TMO yet?
Tmo TP2 setup isnt all that bad. Not as bad as other carriers.
Only unuseful apps in the program list are, Handango Inhand, Getting Started, and Telenav.
3 games that are NOT trials.
aside from the Tmo Myfave app in TF3D, it is a Usable feature for those who has MyFaves, it can easily be turned off.
The rest of the Apps are the ones usually included in a custom rom.

Hello!
Just an FYI if you do have an account with MyFaves and do not want to do a hard reset, you can simply turn off the MyFaves tab in TF3D. What you need to do is in TF3D fo to settings/MyFaves/Option #1. This will allow you to hide, show or turn off the Myfaves home screen display. Note: even if you turn it off, your MyFaves will still work as normal. Hope this helps!

Settings don't stick

I keep having to reset my phone preferences (such as my ring- I only want it to ring once) but it keeps resetting the settings to the default for the phone.
Is anyone else having this happen on their Sprint TP2?
***bump***
are you changing your ring settings through the touch flo 3d shell (settings>sound) or going through the traditional windows mobile settings (settings>sounds & notifications)?
My ring settings stick for both methods (or my phone says). I don't get calls enough for me to notice if settings stick.
maybe your ringtone is very long, so it sounds like it's ringing more then once?
I do experience a setting that I want to stick but doesn't. when you open phone, you choose menu > view. Default is "calls and contacts" but I only want "all calls". I can choose it and it'll filter, but when I close phone and reopen, it'll reset to "calls and contacts". =/
Thanks, Tone.
The ring is not long- it's an old fashioned phone ringer. The actual setting changes fron "Ring once" to "Ring."
I am setting it under the options on the dialer screen. I haave also gone through "Settings"; makes no difference.
So I recently hard reset my phone due to some other issues, but I tested if your problem again, and the settings are still fine on my end.
Out of curiosity, do you know what Manila version you have (along with what phone version)?
Mine is Sprint, Manila version 2.1.38416.1.
You can find the manila version with Reg Edit and go to "
HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila"
String Value "Version" tells you the Manila version.
If you don't have reg edit, or don't know how to do it, that's ok, just phone version should be enough. I've been discovering from customizing my phone and researching on XDA, that Manila may have different bugs depending on what Manila version you have (and most likely a different Manila version is attached with different carriers).
Same Manila version.
Has been hard reset twice, but the problem persists...
oh boo, that sucks. if you have a phone replacement/repair plan with sprint, I say go to them and tell them the issue. I always ***** at sprint with whatever problem that can't be solved. it's a defect in the software/hardware and if you have the replacement/repair plan, they won't charge anything for repairs. and if they can't repair it themselves, they'll send out a request for a 'new' phone replacement. sometimes its brand new, sometimes its refurbished. depends what they have in stock.
I can not get my phone to filter contacts by just device contacts it always defaults back to all contacts making me have dupes. Anyone else have this or know how to make the setting stick?

this is what I do (if you have contacts on your sim).
enter phone app (call button).
press "contacts" (left soft key) to open contacts (manila shell).
press "menu" (right soft key).
choose "view".
listed is "all", "contacts" and "sim". choose "contacts" to list only device stored contacts.
settings stick for me. but I don't have contacts on my sim card to verify. however, the setting itself doesn't change back.
if you go to contacts (windows app version), I believe you can't do this, because there is no option for it.
this is one reason why I think manila is kind of retarded. it just covers up windows mobile, but there are still multiple front ends / GUI for the same things.
no real help, but i set my phone to ring and vibrate, and every now and then it reverts to just ring!!!
I was having the same problem until I noticed
the Single Volume control. It is above the Phone
controls on the settings panel. I turned it off
and now the phone ring settings stay the way I
set them.
it's a known issue for Sprint TP2's. it will be fixed with ROM update to WM6.5. in the meantime, check out this thread http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=83378&highlight=jfrancisny&page=4. Post #36 fixed it for me.

Missing D-Pad for switching dial options for contacts in call history

I had the 1st model tilt from ATT, with the smart dialler option set. With the Dpad, I could then navigate left or right for a contact in the call history, to switch between home or work or mobile numbers.
I'm finding the lack of this easy switching one of my biggest pain points with the tilt2. I'd love to be able to hit the phone button, which generally has hubby somewhere near the top, and be able to easily toggle between his home/work/mobile numbers depending on where I know he's going to be.
I turned off the touchflo UI, and use SPB mobile shell, and unless I happen to want to call hubby back at the same number he last dialled me from, I have to open contacts, and then pick the different number for dialling.
is there an option I'm missing somewhere, or am I SOL?
Thanks
red
Press the Phone button.
Tap the little contact card icon next to your hubby's name on the right.
You can then select which of his numbers you want to dial there.
Tried that, nothing happens. same nothing when I touch the Contacts in the bottom left soft button.
What can I do to get those linked into the contacts?

That is due to disabling Touch Flo UI The dialers are very much tied into it. If you re enable it I am sure it would work. Could try a diff dialer

I have the T-Mobile version. I disabled Touch Flo, and my dialer still has the contact card to the right. Maybe he has a different ROM?

Yes the card will still be there but when you click on it it does nothing right? That is due to it being pointed to the Manila contact page and not WM. SO when Touch Flo is disabled it cant load the page.

Yes, the card is there, but nothing happens when I click it.
Any recommendations on replacing the dialler?

No, when I click the card it goes to the page with the various phone numbers.
Did you disable Touch Flo in the Today Settings screen?
NEVER used TouchFlo on my phone except for 5 minutes when I first got the phone, and touching the little card icon from the standard dialer works fine here.. Pops up last call, call mobile/work/home, send text message, send e-mail, etc...
I personally use iDialer, which offers all of this too.

[Q] Has Anyone Had Problems with the HTC Weather Widget Showing the Wrong Location?

Has anyone had a problem with the HTC Weather Widget not showing the correct location?
Mine used to work quite well (updating to different location as I moved around) and all of a sudden it got "stuck". Now it just shows one particular town no matter where I am.
I tried removing and re-adding the widget, turning on GPS, rebooting, updating roaming towers, etc and nothing seems to work. I did some googling and other people have reported it with the Incredible and a couple other HTC devices but no real solution. I am running the Virtous Rom but I don't think that has anything to do with it.
Anybody have any ideas?
Does it say 1/2 or 1/1?
If it says 1/2 or 2/2 then swype up and down and it changes locations.

Ah no i mean the "current" location that is suppose to be automatically selected based on what I guess is the local cell towers.
Basically the one that is 1/2.
Had that and fixed it
I had it happen seemingly by itself until I realized I had been messing with a few things to try to max battery life. Tap the weather, go to it's menu, hit settings and see if update automaticlly is checked. If not then check it and back up and hit settings again and see if it unchecked itself cause thats what mine did. If so then you must go to phone's settings, accounts and sync, turn on background data, auto sync, and weather. All fixed. Check Your update interval and make sure it is often enough as well. Hope it helps.
Been looking everywhere on how to fix this, Finally got the right answer, big thanks to madman34
Random
I'm glad you found a fix. I do notice sometimes (a couple times since I bought my DInc) that I get random weather locations like, Japan. This is probably more of a network/gps error and not the actual weather app itself.

Weather widget doesn't update location

Hi guys.
My HTC One X stopped updating locations in the HTC weather widget even though it is checked in the menu and there is WIFI connection.
Any Ideas guys?
Google location services must also be turned for that.
Nop... That's on as well
Don't worry about it just yet. The HTC locations service misbehaves sometimes. It might come back.
If you wanted to, you could clear the data from the weather and location service apps and reboot and see if it starts working after a while.
Are you having this issue at the time i am writing this?

Yeah... i asked this because i was having this issue since yesterday but it seems to be working fine since last 3-4 hours.
Thanks guys,
I'll try it know... It just bothers a bit when it doesn't update...
Hi,
I seem to have the same or a similar problem. If I keep GPS turned off then my location gets reported correctly on the weather widget. However, if I turn on GPS for locations then it gets messed up and changes to "Current location".
The only way to get it to recover is to stop the HTC Locations service and clear its data. Then reboot the phone.
This is a real pain as I use the GPS quite a lot for mapping etc.
Does anyone know if there is a way to stop this happening in the first place?
Thanks.

Chk thi out buddy..mit work for u as well..worked for my HTC OneV..though location sercive still is an issue...
anyways go thru this..
1. I changed the app to home location. And of course it said home location was set until I got to the main screen where it still had an old location where I traveled to a few days earlier.
2. I took out the battery turned power back on. Still same problem.
3. Then I pressed down and held my weather clock widget on my main page and dragged it to the garbage.
4. Went to the main screen, found and empty spot and held down for the widgets to appear.
5. Scrolled to the clock widget, chose the weather clock combo again.
6. Chose my home location.
7. Looked at the main screen and WHOALA! It was working again.
8. Note that in my situation I did not have to uninstall the app.
another alternative...
Go to Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications.
Then go to 'All' and scroll down to 'HTC Weather sync provider'.
Select 'Clear Data'.
Then Select 'Force Stop'.
Then go to your home screen and restart the weather app by tapping under the time and then update the weather. The weather should now be available on the homescreen.
Anyone else having problems with the HTC weather not syncing recently?
I've recently had trouble with using Google as the provider for Beautiful Widgets. It's fine since changing to Accuweather!
Sent from my GT-P7500 using xda app-developers app

I don't suppose this will apply to yours; but I have a rooted sensation, and I decided that the "HTCLocationsWidget3d.apk" was surplus to requirement.
This is needed for the weather; upon reinstalling the file the locations updated correctly.
Hello
I am facing the same problem as ppl described here and all over the android and htc forums. None of this works for me. Or no. It works for couple of hrs, a day maybe and then again goes back to Current Location.
The interesting thing is when the weather stop to update my location, facebook wont find me also. But Sygic works fine, Google maps also. Having this in mind I can say that my GPS works fine. So the problem is in HTC/Google things.
