If you plan to stay on same ROM. If not you don't need to a it will cause conflict
Got a Headache? It's all in your Head.
I used Titanium Backup before I switched to CM7 (note, CM7 had no market for me at first, I had to install it manually from here[url].)
Currently restoring all apps and system data. I backed up everything. Hope it works
I've used several different roms since I got my defy last February and I'm so glad I have Titanium Backup. I would recommend it to anyone that is looking for a backup solution on their android phone.
Thanks for the replys im going to put cm rom on but my question was in titanium app do I need to back up all the system Apps and my game Apps before I put c.m rom on. I would of thought that I wouldn't need all the motorola system when im putting cm on.

hello,
despite asking a million questions about the process, i still haven't rooted, so my phone is as stock as stock gets. anyways so my girlfriend plays frozen bubble on my phone and she is at lvl 70 and she really wants to continue that even after the phone updates to froyo. so is there any way i can back the state of this particular app with all its settings and whatnot and restore it..
i dont want to save all my apps because i would much rather start customizing a clean phone, i just want to save this one app.
how do i do it?
thanks.

i just rooted and then turned S-OFF
now im about to remove some apps, then i will install titanium backup, backup this one app, and then restore the stock recovery.
Let it backup everything as it is.
You don't have to restore everything. You can use it to restore just one app if you want.
That way, if you remove the wrong thing you can restore it.
I've noticed that some ROMS do not suggest restoring apps with data when using titanium backup. Can someone please explain to me why this is so? and for an app that the majority of root users have, why hasn't there been any adjustments on either end to bridge the gap of incompatability?
I just think it sucks that titanium backup is supposed to be able to restore your apps onto a new rom like you never deleted them, but it messes things up when you try
I think restoring apps is fine, its the data that gets u. I dont do sny of thst, i always clean install then reinstall my apps, its not like it takes very long and i love the fact that i never have any issues at all with roms

Different roms handle data uniquely..... say you have all your apps on a stock incredible Rom if you flash a custom incredible Rom restoring data shouldn't be a problem.....but when you flash a ported Rom like an evo or z based Rom that's where you get in trouble because all of your data was based off of an incredible Rom.

Well maybe just stick to incredible framework roms and u wont have to deal with that prob

You generally shouldn't migrate data between different ROMs...if you're on Cyanogenmod 7 and you update to a newer build you should be fine, BUT if you go to a different ROM you should only restore the app...certain apps you can get away with restoring the data too, but DO NOT migrate system data.
I rooted my phone with revolutionary and switched to cm7. I origanally used my backup root tosave my apps and it always worked. Now I have the app file but it wont open my back up. I tried to back up my apps in the stockromandit says I dont have root. Ive tried every app I could find in the market. There are a few I have that arent in the market anymore. Any ideas on how to save them?
titanium backup?
Did you back up with clockwork mod?

How did you backup your ROM? If you used recovery then you're up a creek without a paddle.
Titanium backup and start over. Best advice

I did back up in recovery. I ended up using my backup. Titanium wouldn't work. Then reopened the file with my back up root. Thanks for all the help guys. Just a newb learning the ropes.

The only app I back up is angry birds n that's just data backup. What apps do u really need to back up vs just reinstalling? I don't really see the point in backing up anything other than a game save

Your stock rom probably isn't rooted.
Restore the nandroid backup, then flash Superuser through recovery. You can find the file here: http://goo-inside.me/superuser/su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip
You may need to install Busybox for Titanium Backup to work, but I think the developer removed the need for it. You can use a Busybox Installer from the market to install it if you need it.
Don't restore system apps or data when you restore on CM7.

I rooted my Sprint Galaxy S3 mostly so that I could have the Wifi Tether app. I just got it and want to experience the regular galaxy operating system for now. I will not load a custom rom on there for quite a while probably. Is there a way to backup my system as it is now (rooted with no custom rom)? Can I use Clockwork Mod ROM manager or Titanium backup? I want to be able to come back to this exact set up with my apps and operating system if something goes wrong or I decide later to do a custom rom and want to return back to stock. Also, when I do make a backup, what is the best way to recover that back up? Titanium Backup is a good way to get rid of some of the apps that come on the phone such as Sprint tether and all the other samsung/sprint stuff, right? Thanks for your help.
Yes using clockwork to make a nandroid backup will pretty much store a carbon copy of your phone as it as at the time of the backup

Hi my name is chris I just bought a galaxy s3 from sprint a couple of weeks ago I previously had a motorola photon 4g and before I traded in the phone I did a backup from my backup pro of my entire phone well everytime I try to restore after a couple minutes my phone crashes and it dosnt stop I just have to keep pullin out the battery untill I do a factory reset my backups from my photon was from android 2.3 and I was on the cm7 ROM and the phone that I'm trying to put it on the galaxy s3 is stock JB android 4.1 but I did do the latest OTA firmware update from sprint...
I just wanna be able to have my phone with some of my apps cause I don't wanna start over the data is what I really wanna restore though...
My phone does have CWM 6.0 and its rooted on stock and its the SCH one I don't know the rest of it though but I just wanna restore without the continous crashing and I've tried serching this before with no luck so if someone can help me it would be really appreciated I can provide any other info..
Thanks
P.s I do have titanium too but on my old phone I saved my backups to the phone SD card not ext. Accidently so I lost it that's why I'm using my backup pro
Are you restoring system apps or just user apps? What else are you trying to restore?

Just user apps no system apps at all
Are you using the new modified recovery? Older recoveries don't work on newer s3's.

Yes I got the modified one on here I'm not sure if its something with the backups or settings or what I just want my app data back

Yea, I'm at a loss, maybe they were corrupted during the backup process.
Is there a way to find out wats corrupted? ?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
The only way I would know is to do one at a time and see what crashes the phone.
Thats alot lol lik 200 of them nw if I jus did data from the backups ud thnk tht wld b fine?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
Sometimes it takes time to find the bug. I don't know what to tell ya. The data may be corrupted, it's hard to say.
Damn.... so that's the only possible reason it cld b doing that then?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
It's a good possibility considering it doesn't start rebooting until you restore something.

If you are talking about restoring Game Data. Then what you may want to try is to install the Game. Open up My Backup Pro, and restore your game data. I would suggest trying this one app at a time.
Ya that's all I'm trying to do is mostly get data like from go launcher, games and some utility apps thers 237 of them and to the previous post ya it only crashes when I restore apps then have to resort to factory restore and nandroid restore which restore of the nandroid works perfect

237 Ummmm.... I think it may be time to do some house cleaning. Restoring Data from that many apps is bound to cause some issues. Especially if done all at once. I would suggest only doing one, or two at a time. That easy it will help narrow issues down if they occur. Also I would suggest not restoring data from Go Launcher. I've seen that cause issues.
