IMHO this rates as the greatest Google find ever...well almost. Thanks to rayray987123 from www.motorolafans.com.
I just flashed my HT820 with new firmware to fix the skip problem. According to the info, any HT820 with designation SYN948A, SYN948B or SYN948C inside the headset band may have the skip problem. Mine is a 948A and the flash indeed fixed the problem. The flash instructions I in the attached .RAR file are in English.
NOTE: The headset MUST be turned off. As you are plugging USB cable into the headset, you MUST keep the forward and back buttons depressed. It will not go into flash mode otherwise.
I've been listening to my headphones for the last 30 minutes and they only skipped when I cupped my hand over the earpiece. Sound is as good as the original without the skipping of course. I'm happy!!!!
Flashed my HT820 with this patch succes! Will keep you posted!
Hmmm mine is not recognized, but also is a SYN948D .... any clues?
I'm not sure if you can flash this firmware to any other models. This is for A, B or C only. You may try to contact Motorola to see if there is an upgrade patch for your set.
Shameless bump on the front page. This is not a registry hack...it's new headset firmware and it flat works.
Just did it to my HT820 Part number SYN0948A. Seems not to have completely aliviated the problem completely but its a great great improvement. Where I was getting skipping/chopping every couple seconds I know can through a couple minutes of music. I'll update once I test it out a bit more since it has been only a couple minutes ha ha . Sorry I was just anxious to say Thanks and confirm that it does work. Now I dont know if its just me or it seems like volume is a bit lower and distorst when I put the Media player to 100%. But I dont know if its me like I said. Well I stop ranting and showing my excitement since now I feel like I didnt throw money away on my mda and ht820's since thats one of the major reasons I switched from my sk3
Try the priority256 hack on the registry and see if that doesn't bring it in line. This morning I was trying o listen to Resco Radio and it was skipping all over the place. I did that registry hack and Barry Damn White is coming through seriously clear.
well i have an asian knockoff from ebay... and numbers have worn off on it so i cant tell if i have one that can be updated or not.. when i press down the back and forward and insert the mini-B nothing happens for me, just charges... at any rate i did a reg hack on my 8125 and got rid of the skipping anyway..
First of all, the Asian versions on Ebay are typically not knockoffs. They are the same headphones produced for the Asian market with different firmware. Knockoffs are out there, but if the headphones are coming in the box with paperwork, most likely they are not. I do live in China and believe me it's easy to find the fakes.
Second, the cab that shogunmark posted also has a bad key. Check the registry after installing and you'll find the key AD2P instead of A2DP. That does exactly squat. In addition, the various registry hacks on this board do little or nothing if the firmware on the phone is faulty. Believe me, I used all of the registry hacks and nothing kept them from skipping until I updated the firmware. If a reghack alone fixed your skipping then you have good firmware already installed. The only reason mine were skipping this morning was that the wifi was running at the same time and the priority256 hack gives higher priority to the A2DP dll.
Third, you MUST follow the directions to the letter, or the headphones will not enter flash mode as you plug it in.

First of all thanks for the flame
second i never said i didnt like my asian version, works great for me, dont care if its asian or a fake or both. Its definitely poorly made, but i dont care, for $50 on ebay after shipping im happy with my purchase.
3rd, i didnt make that reg hack, all i know is that i tried everything.. Mine was skipping every 10-15 seconds when playing music and it drove me nuts.. i finally came across that reg hack somewhere on this board (dont remember the thread) and bad key or not it fixed my problem..
And finally, i did follow the instructions to a T.. next time i will post that i held the 2 buttons down, plugged in the mini-B and "waited 3-5seconds" and still nothing, just a solid blue charging light, no flashing blue light..
so excuse the f*ck outta me for giving my 2 cents on what worked for me, im just trying to help others on this board just as much as others has helped me.
No flame intended. Just be careful what you post. Not that the cab would brick your device, but posting any old cab without knowing its source or what is in it is not what makes this forum great.
I certainly didn't mean to flame you, but was trying to separate fact from fiction. Perhaps I sounded harsh and for that I apologize.
Better?
One last thing; the buttons on the right earpiece are the correct ones. It should go into flash mode if it's the real deal. Again, sorry for being assuming, but I don't give up easily.
This ain't working for me either. I can't get it to go into flash mode. I turn the head set off, hold the buttons, plug in the cable, and wait . . . and the light just stays on. Nothing changes when I release the buttons.
So, if it worked right for you, did the lights turn on as soon as you plugged in the cable, and did it start flashing before or after you released the buttons?
I have PN SYN0948A so blah on me.
The light will not begin to blink until it has been plugged in for a few seconds. Keep the buttons depressed until it does. Once again the buttons on the right side earpiece must remain depressed while the cord is inserted. As long as the lights are blinking, you can run the .exe in the patch and just follow the instructions from there.
I'm certain it does work. However, this seems to be a problem with more than one person, so I have no idea if its the way you are doing it, or the headsets.
Well I was able to do something that made the right light slowly turn on then off again. And now lights aren't working reliably (ie the left light flashes like normal when I turn them on, but the lights stay dark when I plug it in to charge). It doesn't seem to respect me pressing both right buttons to turn the lights on and off.
I've tried it with the headsets on and off, tried it with various USB ports, and the like. I'm pretty sure I've done it the right way at least once, but no dice.
Thanks for putting up with my fumbling though.
I guess you can add me to the list of failures. I can't get my SYN0948A to go into the flash mode. I've followed the instructions but the lights do not flash at all. Is there any other way? (hopeful)
I guess you can add me too!!! (SYN0948A) ;-(
I just flashed my 48A with the firmware provided above. Great Job!!! No more skipping. Not to mention, the range of the headset has increased by about 5 metres. Dont know if that was supposed to happen

Glad I could help Nerker.
If you see new hardware added (Ht820) when you attach the headphones, they are in boot mode whether the light is flashing or not. Make sure you are pressing the forward and back buttons (NOT the volume) and the power is OFF when inserting the USB cable. (all caps for emphasis, not screaming, lol)
Thank you so much for posting this. I followed the instructions and my headphones (syn0948a) work flawlessly. No more skipping!!!
I have had my evo since June 4. but lately it started randomly going to the car panel. So I disabled the car panel auto launch. But the evo always thinks it is connected to a car dock. When I plug in a headset the volume is locked to a medium setting. If I use the rocker switch it has no effect on the volume even though the screen shows it going up and down. That is the main reason why I want this to be fixed so I can use headphones at the level I want. I did a full reset and when the phone restarts right into car dock. I flashed different roms and first thing car dock... This leads me to believe it is a hardware issue. There is another post but the info is limited and no solution was found. Also The hd2 had a similar problem but no real solutions were found. I would appreciate any input on how to solve or work around this... thank you
Possible work around: If bluetooth is turned on and uncheck the car dock box the volume control on the headset works

The best thing to try is to install an original Sprint EVO RUU. It should completely reset your phone to the correct settings. See if that helps. Make sure as always, you wipe everything before hand. This should let you know if it actually is something wrong with the hardware, i.e.; one of the pins on the phone connection is bent or somehow signaling to the phone that it should be in car mode.
Any word on if you got this fixed? My phone is doing the exact same thing even after a hard reset.
Sent from my Evo
If i have bluetooth turned on then everything works fine... its not a fix but it seems to work for me .... and my battery life doesnt seem that much worse either
I started having this problem when I bought a cheap ass usb cable, and I was.charging on my work pc. I got a new cable, and it stopped
Sent from the bowels of my mind....
BUMP BUMP! Wake up thread! I'm having the problem too!
My rooted EVO 4G running baked snack 1.8 is having the following issues, and they seem related as they started happening at the same time:
Cannot change headset volume (when volume rocker is pressed, graphical slider moves, but audio stuck at a low-to-medium level)
Car Mode launches sporadically without reason, even when phone is locked (had to turn off "auto launch" to stop it from popping up...it's as if the phone thinks it's being plugged into a car dock, which I don't own)
When sending/receiving a call, the external speaker turns on, I have to shut it off each time I answer a call (SO DAMN ANNOYING):
SOME MORE INFO:
This all started happening at once while I was walking down the road listening to music on my phone (i.e., no software was downloaded/changed)
I have done a nand restore to a previous point where there were no problems and the issue persists
It's not because of baked snack. This happened to me once before when I was running the stock ROM, but one day it just suddenly fixed itself. But it's been weeks and I'm tired of it.
ANY IDEAS??

Im pretty sure it was the charger i was using just like the other post said. I got a dock charger and after a week or so the problem just stopped. Im not sure if something is getting bent or shorted or what. Try turning on bluetooth for a work around until the charger straitens things out
No headphone volume/InCar App starts...solved
Have owned the HTC EVO 4G about 18 months with no problems. These issues just started happening yesterday out of the blue.
What didn't work:
cleaned charging port w/toothbrush
toggled bluetooth settings (don't use bluetooth)
Restart
HTC update
PRL update
What did work:
Uninstalling Vlingo
-Peace Out
Trying to help my sister fix her phone and would appreciate any help. Very familiar with the Vibrant but can't seem to find an answer to her problem. What the problem is is that one day a couple of weeks ago she plugged in her headphones to listen to music and now her phone is constantly showing that her headphones are plugged in still. She cannot hear who is calling her and they can't even hear her without the headphones plugged in. I've searched XDA and google and have not been able to even find someone who has had this problem before. I'm 99% sure she has tried a reboot and a battery pull to no avail. Thanks in advance for your help guys!
Really? Not one person has ever had this happen? Think maybe a factory reset? I mean, I'd hate to do it bur if Tmo is gonna do it anyway I guess it makes no difference to try, right?
if you can something probably got stuck you can use a q-tip to clean out, as well plug in headsphones, then turn the phone off and unplug the headset and turn phone on, last thing is do a factory reset, if root can do a nandroid and do wipe
Am I missing a setting or something? I am unable to turn my phone(screen) back on at anytime during a call once it times out and shuts off. Neither the power, or home buttons will wake it while a call is in progress. So if at anytime during a call I need to check a text, look up info, or even make a selection for an automated system im out of luck. This has been happening since I got the phone on launch day, and at first it didnt bother me, but now that I have had to call customer support for my home internet a couple times this past weekend it has become quite the issue. As if I make a wrong selection I get stuck in the automated system, and cant wake the phone to end the call, so i have to take my phone out of its case, rip the back off, and pull the battery. I searched google & this forum, but didnt find anything. Was hoping the latest update would fix it, but it seems I may be the only one experiencing this.
Any help or info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Could it really be the screnn protector? I dont seem to have any issues with auto brightness.
Hi guys
I got an HTC M8s less than 2 months now and it has so many issues it's driving me insane at this stage....
It's on stock ROM unrooted with all the latest updates.
First issue that came up was not recognising the headphones after i plugged them in, that eventually went away after lots of searching and fiddling with settings etc.
Then it started going into Car mode while it was resting on the table, no input on my end no triggers set for it, hell i don't even own a car to use this function....
I disabled HTC car and that stopped.
The included micro usb cable somehow went bad, tried it on other devices, it will not charge....
Now i'm having some weird charging behaviour, it drops out of charging and resumes or sometimes it just stops charging (that doesn't happen when the phone is charging while being switched off, so i'm guessing it's not a hardware issue)
Another massive problem is that all incoming/outgoing calls go to the speaker which almost burst my ear drum first time that happened.
I have looked in every single forum out there and have tried all possible solutions, ranging from disabling google Chrome to trying every available speaker management/toggle related program on the play store but nothing seems to be working.
Some times if i plug in the headphones, make a call and then unplug them, then it works as it should for a little while. But later on it reverts to the previous mentioned behaviour.
One thing i have noticed, before it routes calls to the speaker, the screen will light up, no notifications come up and then all calls go to the speaker.
I used Wakelock to try and find out which program triggers the screen wake in order to remove it and maybe solve this issue but nothing came up.
Any input would be greatly appreciated as i am at the end of my rope with this device....
I still have my HTC DHD A9191 and i never had any issues with that phone, i'm very dissappointed with HTC :/
Thanks in advance
Yanni
Less then 2 months......return it ! Not even sure what you want to achieve here besides messing up warranty ?
I am using Spign slim armor case on m8s and after using it my power button isn't working.
and I have a Motion Launch problem when phone is on my pocket it opens camera, calls someone because of the sensor.Any fix about that?

ok man
look i have htc one m8 + one m7+one max
the one m7 had the same problem of u
i will give to you one solution for try
i try it on the one m7 and its work
but on one max not work
on m8 not test yet
try this:
1. Turn phone OFF
2. Let charge for AT LEAST 10mins even if it doesn't look like it's charging.
3. Press and hold POWER + VOL UP + VOL DOWN for AT LEAST 2mins. Anything less will not reset the charge mode.
4. After 2mins release the buttons and the phone should boot as normal
if it not charge at the first time then try it again andd u will be OK
Hi Hazem
Thanks for the input, i'll give this a go when i get back home and let you know if it works out.
Should i try this when the phone is at 4-5% ? And then let it charge all the way ?
I'm experiencing these same issues as well after rooting my M8. Hopefully someone here knows what the issue is.
Well for me all issues remain unresolved.
My guess so far for the culprit seems to be the magnetic sensor, either badly programmed or a factory defect.

u must charge ur phone
turn off the phone
let him charge to full about 3 hours
and try the method
it will work
i test it on 2 one m7 phones
let me know if that work
thx
Sorry Hazeem I understand that English isn't your first language, and you are trying to help but you are not making much sence....
You are basically telling me to charge my phone, then switch it off and charge it again even though it's already charged for another 3 hours....
Ok an update !
HTC Released a service pack along with an update for the car application, after installing these and a couple of reboots the charging problems stopped and the phone doesn't seem to be waking up without any reason, as it did before.
The calls getting routed to the speaker still remain but thanks to an app called Auto Speaker, I've managed to work around this issue. Before the updates this application had no effect, but now it works as it should by turning off the speaker when the proximity sensor is blocked.
I hope I am not celebrating too soon on this and I'll keep this post updated if anything else, related to these issues, happens.
Update 2
So far so good and with another unexpected benefit, I removed my phone from the charger Saturday morning around 11 and as of now Monday 7:30 it's at 27% !
