What exactly does mobile network turn off? If its turning off 3g can i still get mms, texts and etc? also if i turn mobile network off and connect to a network over wifi what exactly works? do i lose something?
I've noticed that whenever I turn off my wifi connection, the mobile data connection automatically turns itself on. This is quite annoying as I usually have it turned off to conserve battery.
Is there any way to disable this?
Thanks in advance.
No as the Desire is a smart phone which always needs a connection to the Internet to update - it's working as designed
Well if the user specifically wants to turns off the APN connection and keep it off until manually turned on, I don't see why that's such a big ask. I only want to have control of my phone, not the other way around.
I use Honolulu Team's Extended Controls to switch both wi-fi and mobile data off when not required.

I also use this, but if I have wifi turned on for example (with mobile data turned off prior), when I turn off the wifi the mobile data immediately activates without my say so.
There must be some way to disable this automatic connecting.
I keep my mobile data connection on everytime...but after night when i wake up...i had to go and check apps to get the updates...like email stops comine...no msgs on whatsapp....seems like mobile data connection goes to sleep...whats the solution?
What is the difference between LTE and Mobile Data?
Lte is a type of mobile data hspa+ is another type
Mobile data is data streaming over your carriers network. It what you use to browse the internet, check emails pretty much everything on your phone except calls and texts.
LTE is the speed of your mobile data connection, currently the fastest. There are different mobile data speeds, 2g/edge, 3g, 4g/lte.
Hopes this clears this up foe you.
Edit--> beaten to the punch lol
Thank you for the explanations. While I am at home or work I was trying to decide what items to turn off. I can turn off the GPS, LTE, & Mobile Data and use just use wi-fi.
I believe mobile data already turns off/disconnects when you are connected to wifi. If you go check your "about" screen while on wifi, it will show the mobile network at disconnected.

This ^^^^^
The difference is when your Wi-Fi signal depreciates (for whatever reason), if you still have Mobile Data enabled, your carrier's data will pick up right where Wi-Fi left off.

Yep you are correct. I turned on/off the wi-fi and the mobile network state turned on/off accordingly. Does turning off mobile data help extend the battery?

Thanks for the tip!
The reason I ask is because I am setting up some NFC tags and I wanted to know what services are OK to turn off.

Yes it does. WiFi uses less battery. Mobile data is right there with display for the two biggest battery consumers.

Good to know. Thanks again.
Mobile data on my Galaxy s8+ won't turn off when on wifi. I've reset my networks, cleared the cache, rebooted and double checked the settings... still using mobile data when connected to WiFi. Any suggestions?
