What am I missing? It's not working and I thought it was enabled natively? Any way to enable this without root? I could have sworn i saw a video review saying it was an included functionality. Thanks.
What cable are you using? Has that cable worked for you on another device? I ordered a cable for my xoom and it says it should work for the Epic Touch as well but I have yet to receive it to try.
I have the Motorola Xoom OTG and two eBay angled OTG cables. They work perfectly with my Xoom.
I looked in the dev section and it looks like non of the ROMs support this. I'm just confused and frustrated.

Does anyone know if the power hdmi connector is a mini or micro usb connector? I thought it was a mini usb like the original evo, but if it is also used for hdmi, I am not sure.

I remember reading that the evo3d is using a "mhl" port that will charge and be HDMI out at the same time, not the micro USB that the evo has.

I have the correct usb otg cable and a fat32 1gb flash drive. I'm just trying to get the usb host feature working. Videos on YouTube show its working on Galaxy S2 not sure about the Sprint version. Any ideas?
I've tried stock EL29 and caulks v. 3.0 for E4GT no luck so far.
Sorry if this is in the wrong section.
Edit... This may be a lost cause but it only cost me $2 bucks

*bump*
I also want to know if this is possible
I've read that the Sprint variant of the galaxy s2 originally had USB host mode enabled but then at last minute was cut out. So as of now no builds have it included. Hopefully once source comes out we will be able to add it any rom =].

Just upgraded to official ICS and can't get mirroring to work. Has anyone tried it? If you've gotten it to work, could you share how you did. Thanks guys.

I haven't heard of mirroring, can you explain what it is?

Displaying on your TV screen exactly what is displaying on your phone. It requires the use of an adapter.
Exactly. Has anyone tried to use it since upgrading to ics? I use it a lot and it seems to only work on gingerbread. Thanks.

Confirmed not working for me as well, running this rom. I'd been running CM9 for a month or so and was hoping that going back to a stock(ish) rom would restore this functionality, but I'm optimistic that it'll be patched soon. I've used my MHL adapter maybe 5 times at most so it's not any kind of deal breaker, but I'd still like to use it!

Thanks for the update. I hope they do send a fix.

Are you talking about doing this through a MHL Adapter?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Yep. Was working with adapter on gingerbread but not on ics.

Yes it is working on ICS Touchwiz based roms, I tried it on blu Kuban and wicked sensation. I was using it the other day to watch the hangover 2. I know the mhl adaptor doesn't work on AOSP roms right now. The adaptor I'm using is the Samsung MHL adaptor, that has a port for plugging in the USB charger and it's required to have it plugged in. The phone has to be charging while in use.

I have the Menotek MHL adapter and it does not work on ICS...
I get EDIDRead() errors in my Logcat and then it reverts to DVI mode (which evidently doesn't work over an HDMI cable... go figure)
I haven't tried factory reset yet, so maybe it's a data issue...
Anyone with a Menotek adapter confirm workage on stock ICS?
cheap 6$ adapter from amazon here.. been working on all tw roms since early ics leaks. doesnt work on aosp YET.. we have source so id expect it to be fixed on aosp in the near future

And if so with what rom, will it work with jellybean?

Could i have a link that shows which bluetooth dongle works for you?
Sent from my DROID2 GLOBAL using xda app-developers app
So I keep reading, a lot, that otg and dongle work, but then nobody shows how or what brand...
Does it work or are all of these posts saying its works just repeating what they have read?
[I really dont think people should be posting answers in an FAQ if they are just repeating others words]
I have looked and looked and I can not find anything beyond the same reply: "OTG cable and dongle"
If someone can share a link/thread that shows actual success with a Bluetooth dongle and results that would be great!
Thanks!

It doesn't work, there's no driver support in any Kf ROM for any type of Bluetooth dongle.
These posters have all read it doesn't work, they just refuse to believe it.
I have heard that people have claimed success with dongle

I said that the only way it will work is with an otg cable and a Bluetooth dongle. You still do need drivers for it to work.

People are getting confused here, and that's understandable.
Before Bluetooth was around and usable on PCs, you used to be able to buy keyboards with an adapter that would sit in the USB port. They would only work with that specific keyboard and nothing else. They were proprietary and use the standard USB drivers apparently - Which is why the guy who is using the dongle and keyboard in the video is able to do so.
Bluetooth on the other hand is totally different, and while you need the dongle, you also need the drivers. But I think we've come far enough that no one is going to write them.
I just got a Menotek Mhl adapter and the phone recognizes the power from it but nothing happens on the TV or the phone when connected. There is no option to switch to hdmi and it doesn't happen automatically. Is our phone supported? Thanks for any help.

I've used it and it works fine. I had to reconnect the cable to get it to work but it works perfect.
It's not the adapter because my roommate's evo lte works just fine with it. I am rooted and unlocked running rooted zv9 ROM. Normally I'm good at troubleshooting. Can't figure this one out.

Man I've tried so many things already. I've had multiple friends use it now but I'm the only one with an LGOG. I thought you needed an extra adapter for the s3 but that worked as well. My phone accepts that its hooked to a charger but nothing else. I really want to play n64 and snes on my tv Lol!
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda app-developers app
Well figured it out. The S3 didn't actually work. I got the 5 to 11 pin adapter and all is well. HD phone on the TV is pretty sweet!
Edit: Works for my buddy's S3. 11 pin does NOT fit LGOG. Still does not work with my phone at all.
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda app-developers app
so the OG uses 11 pin MHL like samsung? I thought only S2/Note2 is using 11 pin.
I bought one off a guy on ebay named fourpairteledata for $8 with free shipping. There is no name on the unit and it feels cheaply built and only came in a plastic bag but it works perfectly and has a microusb port for the ac adapter.
