I've been a fan of this site for a long time. I don't post too much, but I have gained much information here. This site has been an invaluable part of my Android hobby. I own 5 Android phones and a Motorola Xoom tablet, and thanks to XDA they are all rooted with custom roms and I use each one confidently. This site is full of great information and helpful people.
However, as of late, XDA seems to be putting out a bad vibe to many of its users. I personally see this stemming from the fact that users are expecting far too much. Everyone feels entitled to everything, on their own terms. They make demands of developers that will benefit only themselves. Instead of helping new members find the info they are seeking, they'd rather berate and belittle them publicly. The act superior to anyone asking a question. And on and on(trying not to write a book here). I am watching as developers that have contributed so much be treated with little or no respect until they don't even want to be a part of XDA anymore. I am seeing new members being scared off by elitist, rude "veteran" members. Overall, more and more people are wanting to distance themselves from XDA.
We cannot blame the site admin or mods, though i do hope to see them push the site in a different direction soon. It is on our back, the users of XDA. We are XDA. We need to remember that the devs are doing what they do for free, and for Android as a whole, not us as individuals. What happened to the great sense of community with Android. IMO, that was one of the best aspects of being involved with Android. There is much more I could say, but I think the main points are made and you can fill in the blanks. I hope to see Android become a community again, where users help one another, don't expect everything to be tailored to them specifically, and share a bit of both gratitude and empathy.
I agree with you, but sadly I do not see Xda changing for the better anytime soon. Maybe not at all. The majority of the blame does lie with us, the users. But, the admin and mods must also take some of that blame, as they have allowed the current trend to continue as long as it has

Dude we get it, we understand your not happy, we are working on this so give us some time to work through the issues and quit berating us and maybe try helping us by offering solutions to the problems you see.
Ehh, what do you expect with family plans and children with phones? The smart phone demographic over the last 4 years has changed so dramatically. It's no longer just seen as a business tool, but rather the hip new gadget to have. So when you widen the scope and age of users the arrogance and lack of respect is increased and certainly magnified.
good day.

Are you a mod or admin? I'm assuming so by the wording in your post. Noone was berating anyone, especially the mod/admins. I said they weren't to blame, and the poster below me said users are most responsible. This was a post to call attention to an issue, and try to get forum members back into a more community oriented manner, and to NOT react like you did by sounding angry, snide, and pointing fingers.

No Sir I appreciate your Post. abn has been complaining about our inaction for a while and we ARE looking to improve and it just gets a little old hearing the same complaint over and over when you are working to make this a Quality Forum everyone, including us, wants it to be. I do apologize for my perhaps over-reaction, but it is hard to be constantly beat up on. Yes, us Mods/Admins do deserve some blame. But we have recognized it and we are trying to resolve the issue.
We all just do our best.

you need to consider that back in its earlier days, XDA was all about this lil' group of people with WinMo devices learning to rip their mobile OSes apart. as the site grew in size and popularity, more devs came in along with more end-users who feed upon the products of their kitchen. once the android explosion began, there was no other way around the fact that a multitude of users would flood in where as the number of devs coming in would be far smaller.
i still remember just over a year back when i got to cooking my own WinMo ROM the community was growing but there were still devs around where ever you looked ready to guide and help around but now that the site's more popular than ever people flock here expecting miracles and are not disappointed either. it's so addictive that you have to stick around for more. but sadly the number of devs don't grows as fast as their end-user counterparts. that's why you see this problem today. we need the newer member to be willing to learn on their own, being patient with the progress of other devs and most importantly...READING.
just my two cents.
Open tech forums are always ripe for attrition due to many reasons.
The question here is, do we cater to the users or do we cater to the developers? It's pretty obvious that without developers, XDA wouldn't be much of anything.
It's my opinion that the 'elitist' attitude which you speak of from the senior members is something that SHOULD be done, as their point is to protect the developers from being inundated with trivial questions and not detailed bug reports.
Kyphur, another XDA Moderator, had this to say back in 2008 (in a similar thread) when we were a bit smaller, and it still holds true:
kyphur said:
I think what a lot of people forget is that this is not a "make my phone neat & kewl" place.
As implied by the name this is technically a Developers forum/community.
Now what does that mean? Well first off it means that there is an expectation that if you are here then you want to customize your device but rather than just installing something that someone packaged you want to understand how it works and maybe even enhance it yourself.
When I first came here with a Blue Angel it was a different environment. PDA Phones were not embraced by the general public because of the expense and complexity (I paid over $400 for my BA). A $400 phone 4 years ago was expensive, today the Tilt is $300 after rebates but with inflation & the rise in the cost of other devices and the fact that there are other sources out there giving them away for $150 our neat bit of kit has become popular with mainstream users.
Now we have a flood of new users who are asking not "How can I do this myself" but more like "Give me the quick fix" without caring to understand the process. See if you read the threads then you get to experience the learning process, you see how the issues were investigated and confirmed. Then you get to watch the different attempts at resolution and learn why some failed while others worked. That is called Development.
The NooB backlash is coming from users who have walked in the development shoes and is directed mainly at those who don't care for the journey but just want the end result or destination.
As a Development Forum we are just as much (if not more) about the journey. I've read so many comments like "I don't have time to read all of the threads" or "I don't care how it works, just that it does". These very statements are contrary to the heart & soul of XDA-Devs and that is why the backlash is so strong.
Let me be very clear on this: IF YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT UNDERSTANDING THE JOURNEY THEN YOU PROBABLY SHOULDN'T BE HERE IN THE FIRST PLACE.
XDA-Devs is about developers & hackers helping each other and working together to get the most out of our devices by understanding them better than most.
XDA-Devs is not about helping everyone who wants a "Kewl bit of kit" make their phone better than the guy next to him.
Now do we go kicking users off who never contribute anything, NO. We tolerate it to an extent. Where the toleration ends is when these users start diluting the usefulness of the forum by repeating the same questions over and over again.
You ask us to understand your position. Well if you want to benefit from our experience and time then I think it is only fair that you understand our position.

I think that there are problems here at XDA that are there partially because of the rather loose rules we have set in place.
Sure, the internet, like most places in our society, is one that is supposed to promote freedom of speech. But there is a monumental difference between debating and being immature. A large proportion of the members here grown adults, but it really, really doesn't seem anything remotely close to that quite a lot of the time. Quite a lot of "you ****ing prick"s and the like being thrown about between members. Quite frankly, it's ridiculous, like a bunch of rather scummy 13 year olds.
Part of that does seem to come from the allowance of swearing on the forums; not saying don't swear, because believe me, I'm the last person who'd say that...but I don't on here, merely because it's not the swearing or inappropriate language itself that causes the problem, but the behaviour that naturally comes with it. Many forums are banning the discussion of provocative topics such as Mac vs. PC, iOS vs Android etc. Obviously, this being a mobile device forum, that can't be done here, but there needs to be some moderator control over that. All because people can't help but be immature about it...
That's the worst bit of it.
As for developer vs. end-user, just look at the market now, as well as what the developers here are doing. Smartphones are now more accesible, and the variety between the OSs at their core is much smaller than it used to be. The developers are working hard to make the process of rooting, jailbreaking, any kind of software modification easier for the more technically inept user.
Developers can't expect this forum to stay a developer community if they are going to make their creations so easy to use So experienced users need to accept that XDA has now moved away from being what it's used to be. They need to try and be accomodating to less technical users.
However, the biggest problem here now are probably newer users. They simply don't read or search. Answers are having to be repeated over and over again, even when everything is in the OP...many users need to spend time reading, and they'll realise that a lot of the answers aren't even technical; just a bit of common sense and logical thinking and you'll get the answers you'll need.
In a way, a simple way of post once, sticky once, force end users to read it, and we'll get somewhere.
A lot of good posts here. I tried to word my OP carefully as to not point fingers. Or at least not to lay blame on any one group of people. And I can't claim to know the whole story as while I own a handful of Android devices, that is only but a small part of this site as a whole. I don't come close to visiting all the forums. I really like XDA. From what I see, it is one of the rare sites where thread, where i frequent, often stay on topic. This is due in part to the mods, and in part to the users directing newer members by telling them this isn't the right place to post, linking to an appropriate thread, or just giving a quick answer. However, it's when people start getting angry and calling other people out for not knowing something, being rude, blah blah blah, that I am seeing more of. If all someone has to say is "use the fu**ing search", or "wrong spot noob", there is really no reason to post anything at all. That isn't helping anyone. There are better ways of going about it.
And I think we all have to admit, the days of only the more technical users rooting and modding are coming to an end. Devs are making it easier, one click methods are popping up all over the place, everything is automated, etc. People no long need to learn what is going on when they root their devices. While I enjoy having that knowledge and using the abd method of rooting when there is a one click available, others certainly will not, and they often don't need to. Maybe this isn't the best decision in many of our eyes, but tt is a reality now. More and more people are hacking/modding/rooting every day, and many of them have not even used a command line. I mean hell, there is even an "adb for dummies program" that will install and set up adb for you in one click now!
Again, not point fingers, but I am saddened to see so many people arguing, so many snide, rude responses, people being so demanding and self-serving, and devs leaving the site. I realize that the site is bigger than ever, and that mods do this for free and don't want to waste time being "rudeness police". I don't have all the answers, just something Ive noticed for awhile now. Glad to hear the mods are working on it as well as they can. I know they don't want to see developers leaving. Let's face it, some of these developers have quite a following! Also, sorry they have to hear the same complaints over and over again, but, as I said, I'm glad they are looking into it(if there is even anything that can be done, and I thanks the mods, admin, devs, and users for making this such a great place to learn and share!
I am one million percent in agreement with this topic, but I think the blame is not xda per se... Now, this is MY OPINION, but the problem is as mentioned before, our current society... I said something similar on aamikam's MikG thread on the Evo forum, this is the result of the 21st century, where technology has made mankind do anything anywhere anytime with only a click, and the kids and teens of today are raised in this world of now, so is in their nature to have that state of mind, "I want this now"; and I know this is not all the world, but in general, this is the new way of life on this century, the age of now...
We can also blame the new parents of this era, the average parent now is in their mid 20s to 30s, low 40s and in general, are allowing their kids more privileges and liberties than they had just because "at your age I couldn't do it, but I'll let you do it, not like your grandpas who didn't allowed me do anything at all" and so on and so forth...
Anyway, just wanted to say something about this, good nite all..!
A video below of a well known tech blogger who gives his impressions and thoughts about the galaxy s3 and he compares it to the One X. In short words he states that the One X is hands down the better phone in build quality, overall design is better and for a flagship phone the One X feels more premium and in all aspects beats the S3.
So this for all the members out there who are debating to go for the S3 or One X check this video first and well you should have your answer.
Would like to say this is not to start another flame war thread this is merely to point out to new users that this thread is to give pointers to members who open threads and ask about if they should buy the One X or not. So rather than opening pointless threads and asking come here instead and watch the video and this should make your mind up. Feel free to comment and ask your questions here. Please do not open threads asking if you should buy it or not. Ask your questions here
Enjoy
I'm getting crazy about these comparison threads....
Just buy whatever you like. No phone will be unique so stop whining!

dude i am not whining. i already have the one x. this is basically to show people the reason why they should get the phone and also this is a thread were people can ask all the questions they want and ask regarding why they should buy the One X. Simple as that..No moaning or comparing..
and another thing. would you prefer people opening pointless threads all over the forum asking if they should buy the phone or not? is it not better to have one thread were they can ask instead. this is the whole logic behind this thread and just give them the above video that clearly states why they should go for it and answers most frequent questions people have anyway. So no whining, no moaning and no comparing.

Forgive me if I seem a bit cynical, but a large number of your posts in the HOX forums are about the S3, so you can't blame people for thinking you have a hidden agenda.
It's almost like you're trying some sort of bizarre brainwashing technique - mention the S3 as many times as possible while at the same time denying any affiliation to it and people will start to think it's better in some way.

no you have every right to be cynical. and yeah i was leaning towards going for the s3. but like always when actually sitting down and thinking about it and reading alot this time around and reading posts by Hamdir and reading his threads about the One X there is no doubt that i have one of the best phones in the world and i should stop being a cry baby.
my anger and my moaning was due to all the issues i had with the One X so far. but after being told that they are rebuilding my phone from scratch in repair center and sticking brand new parts and reading posts in the comparison threads and the video above in the end there is only one winner and that is the One X..and i thought i share this video and to others who was in the same position as me can see why the One X is better..Hope this clears it up a bit more...and i still stand by saying that this as well can help people who wondering about the one x that here is the best place to be to find out why they should go for it
The guy in the video doesn’t even have a S3 on hand to review, all he did was summarise what he read on the web.
Personally had the S3 came out around the same time as One X, I’d have gone for the S3. But after playing around with the S3 in the shop, I don’t see any reason to sell my One X (running smoothly on custom rom) for the it.
However, the S3 screen is just as good as the One X IMO, have advantages of unlocked bootloader, likely longer screen usage time and expendable memory/battery.
I think Samsung made the wrong decision to make their flagship phone with 4.8” screen. When I was in the phone shop, a lot of people was interested in the S3 but was not sure about the large size. Samsung don’t have a similar performance phone with smaller size like the One S.

I also have problems with the HOX and a the moment its on repair the second time (i also got a new one with baaad screen ripple effect). The S3 is a nice phone but its not great like the HOX. Im really annoyed about the quality management of HTC and shame on them they released a phone with such f***ing issues like screen flex/ripple or screen loose.
In the end i decided to wait until i get a good one without any issues, because i freaking love the HOX, especially the screen and the unibody which feel pretty noble. I dont care about getting additional free space like micro SD(and come on 32 GB is more than enough) neither the possibility of changing the battery. This phone is sure one of the best phones the smartphone market will have for quite a period of time.
My advice to potential buyers is they should try it in a store and decide if they like it or not.
So thats all for now.
@goku have fun with your one x if you get it back ;-D.

Thank you. Well it has been two weeks now without it. And yes looking forward having it bk. Advice to potential owners is not to get sucked by the hype but instead to go for user experience which the one x delivers.

Now a days people just care about Benchmark score rather than the overall quality of the phone. My advice go through all aspects before you buy it. There are lot more than just benchmark scores.

exactly. this is why my advice is rather than thinking about performance go for the all round media experience and user experience out of the box instead of support from third party software..this is were the One X provides it.
Like i keep on saying. I will not lie..I was seriously rethinking of selling my one x and going back to sammy. but after reading user experiences with the handset and actually playing with my friends one for a day i am glad to stick with my one x. plus the video in OP sums up the reason why i suggest to users who open up threads asking why they should buy this to have a look. The video says it all.
This video was uploaded I think a couple of days after Samsung's announcement. The person doesn't have the phone and gives his opinion. That's understandable. However people that actually have had the S3 are saying that it's a better device than the one x. Why listen to this guy who gives his subjective opinions?

hey baron mate. true the blogger did not have the phone and commented from watching the many videos out there already. i really do listen to what he has to say as he has been reviewing many phones for the last few years and he is a vivid android user and i respect his opinions as due to his reviews i made decisions to buy a handset.
Like i said many times in this thread. The reason why i posted this video is for the many members who open pointless "why i should buy the One X" thread or "what are the advantages" threads to come here instead and watch the video and see why they should buy this phone. It is not to compare which one is better it is for people to see what qualities the phone has over others and go for it..
So One X forum, i give a One X video that a tech blogger gives his opinions about it over another flagship and answers the many questions that members have about the phone. That way they can see the video and make up there own minds.
and please let us not start this into a S3 is better and that kinda stuff as this is not what this thread was meant for. this is for as a guide to other new members who are interested in buying the phone and the video gives the points on why users should do over the s3 and other phones in general. so please let us keep it to that

Don't get me wrong I respect your opinion. But let's be real here, it is an attempt to say that the one x is better. This is you from your op:
"In short words he states that the One X is hands down the better phone in build quality, overall design is better and for a flagship phone the One X feels more premium and in all aspects beats the S3."
Now you tell me that it isn't to compare it to the S3? I mean I know this is a one x forum and most will agree with you, but let's say what it is. I've watched blackprince310 forever in fact, I'm one of his subscribers. But I can give you easily 5 links that show people comparing the S3 and the one x and they're saying it's better, and they actually have both phones in hands! I'm not trying to make it look like Im hating on the one x, my one x has shipped from handtec YESTERDAY and just cleared customs in the US. I've spent a little more than 600$ on it so there's no reason for me to be a hater. If you want to help people make a one x purchase, you should point out the things where it excels at, not providing a vid of a guy GIVING HiS OPINION ON THE S3 release. It makes no sense. Sorry bro.

Lol, it's inevitable. The thread itself was a mistake cause it's not helping people wanting to purchase the phone, just trying to prove that the S3 is a disappointment and that the one x is better. That's not how you try to get people to buy a new device. Ok I'm done
I've looked the video and its not "all" realistic because hi has no S III but it's his opinion, and I must say that I agree with him.
Hi praised the hardware, which is good.
What really bothered me was the comments that the people wrote.
It's disgusting.
It looks like now a days almost nobody buys a phone to suits his needs or what he prefers but just to show of or out or Fanboyism !!!!
As soon as one make a bad comment about the phone and is not other ones "brand" or "choice" than he's: "retarded", "f...", ............... !!!!!
For the new phone buyers.
Go to the shop and compare the phones there. Make a decision. If you cant decide doe to the technical side come and ask. Bare in mind that the answers that you get can be different. If you choose S III and you ask in this forum you'll be disappointed of your choice . The other way around too ( One X on the S III forum). As for how it feel, design and all the rest, decide your self. It's our phone.
I myself, don't have One X or Galaxy S III but I've played with both and they are not my choice
I have One S
Sorry my bad English.
Goku can I just ask what specific problems you had with your HOX? I seem to have a few but if I send it back to HTC I'm worried they'll try and blah me off. I have over heating battery, all the time, even worse when on charge, dead pixel, yellow tinge when battery is hot, lol which is all the time, battery life is shocking, I'm on the latest update and tbh its worse than when I got it, and I get the rainbow effect when I touch the sides of the screen (i don't know of this is what people are calling rippling?) Reckon they'll swap it for a brand new one?
Samsung did make a mistake by not releasing a smaller screened performance phone alongside the S3 however the S3 is on another level to the HOX.
That is all

I've started a petition to try to get HTC to fix the multitasking issue on our One X's.
At first it didn't bother me that much, but the more I use the phone, the more it gets to me. A couple of times already I wanted to smash the phone against the wall.

All your support is greatly appreciated
Pretty poorly written 'petition'
Doesn't matter anyway, even if wasn't abysmal, it wouldn't be effective unless 1000's complained to HTC about it but we on XDA are the 1%.
So Sorry Tommy

"I will be keeping an eye on the next couple of phones released by HTC and if this trend of Sense comes first, then Android continues, I will be moving to a different manufacturer. If I found out about this earlier, I would have already taken the phone back to swap for a Galaxy S3."
this is threatening, htc will not even bother to read small time threats like this. this made your petition lose it's power
"Please sign this petition and let us see if we can change HTC's mind. Also share the link, tweet about it. You do not have to own a One X to sign the petition, you just have to feel that HTC is wrong."
now you're begging for signatures. lack of professionalism
"So in an effort to make their bloated Sense experience better and smoother they will break Android. We buy Android phones running Sense, not Sense phones running Android."
this point has no directions. what has it got to do with multi tasking?

Is it better now? Any further pointers are appreciated.
Good luck with that, maybe you should research your next phone a bit better then you might not be disappointed when you find it doesn't do what you want it to.
Online petitions achieve absolutely sod all.
Doesn't that advanced multitasking script help?

Do not take this as a rant or temper tantrum, but there is this question that has been bugging me ever since I began rooting and flashing custom Roms with my HTC Inspire (first android phone) when it comes to the development community. I have seen the HD2 which is an older device compared to the desire to be getting more development love as time goes on. I do get a kick in seeing older devices still making allot of progress in the world of dual and quad core cpus, giving HTC the finger which is all satisfying to me but I am interested to know why is there not the same or at least a noticeable attempt on the desire/inspire side? I feel that slowly the developers are moving on and are kicking down this device for later devices but some how the HD2 is not; in comparison the desire/inspire is better.
However I know the cycle of development on every device on this site; a period of silent to the point of death then a period of waves of mods, roms, and scripts to drive a user mental due to choices.
Yet,I would like a dev or a knowledgeable user to explain to me why is there so allot of attention on this device(HD2) in comparison to the desire/inspire?

We have ROMs with all the latest Android developments: ViperDHD for the latest Sense stuff, and codefireX for the latest JB 4.2 stuff. We also have active developers for ICS (aospX and marginally IceColdSandwich) and ROMs from before that. Therefore, I don't feel that developers have abandoned Ace; we're still going strong.
Are you kidding me? This phone has some kicking development. We have more developers for our phone than other phone's have in number of total ROMs.

I was not aware of this really figured we are slowly loosing developers as time went on
So hopefully we would see an influx on jellybean roms for example with sense or a touchwiz mix?

OK, I feel the need to publically rant about my nexus 7 (sorry, utterly useless topic)
I'm tired of acting as a beta tester when I buy consumer electronics. The problems with multitouch on my nexus 7 32gb were hiliarious for about 10 secs. I don't even want to try out the various bootloaders to try to fix it software-wize. This kind of problem should not have happened in the first place, AT ALL. How the hell do these products get quality checked before being sold, seriously ? Multitouch is THE main and basic feature of such devices, how on Earth can it not be perfect out of box ?
I was wondering by the way : has Apple ever had any problems with the multitouch on its phones ? I've actually rarely had any apple phones / tablets in my hand, but each single time, the touch response was way better than any android device out there. How come ? (please don't tell me : "ok f* off and go apple already", it's an open question, I'm curious).
Also, this tablet being my first experience in the tablet world, Google clearly hasn't made up its mind if it's to be considered as a tablet or as a biggish phone. Gmail, for one, in portrait looks as stupid as Tapatalk 4 with its massive side menu you can't ever swipe away. I want a damn TABLET experience.
So the nexus 7 is going back to the shop, and I'll wait for some other device, which may be a long time, as I cannot imagine buying anything else than nexus (Can't bare manufacturer devices that already aren't supported anymore after being on the market for >4months).
I sicked of being played around, and tired of all this nonsense. :/
Cheers. have a wonderful weekend. (and "Bon courage !" to all of you nexus7 users, I'm out)

What's your point ? Nexus devices are supposed to be an especially reliable plateform for Android app programmers, not a vast google beta program for it's own developers !! (I'm talking about the basic hardware features here, not advanced / beta features in google apps)
OP, i'd say... who cares? You said yourself its stupid thread so why do you bother to start it anyway?

Developer devices don't have to be stable, they are a baseline to work with, no one have any guarantees that they would be consumer level qualify or stable, buying a Nexus device means you are part time beta testing

The nexus 7 is sold in all consumer electronic stores, as is any Samsung, Sony,... products. Clearly it's not "beta hardware" anymore...

Seriously? They sold a bunch of devices and all "buyers" should be developers only? If I buy a device then the basic features must work. Nothing more nothing less, also if I am a developer the device must work.

I'd even say, a developer would require EXTRA STABLE hardware in order to program without having hardware bugs mixing with his own apps' bugs...
when you first discovered the issue did you try to return it? Have you read about the issue before purchasing it?
why not get an apple device, just curious.
I completely agree with you with all these problems with the Nexus 7, but for its price and speed compared to the iPad mini, I'll stick with my Nexus 7 since the problems are bearable for me.
While I agree with the OP in principle, almost everything in the computing industry is that way any more. There is such pressure to get new hardware/software out the door, that all vendors are putting stuff out before it is truly ready. I don't think Google is any more guilty of this than any other technology vendor. I've seen stuff a LOT more screwed up than the N7.
IMO there is an 80-90% chance most, if not all, of your touch issues can be resolved in 10 minutes using this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2428133
Of course you won't have the pleasure of ranting.
Your choice.
That is why I always wait at least a month before I buy something. That ways I can see if there is any problems with the first run. With the New Nexus 7 I new there was going to be issues with multi touch and I haven't had any problems with it yet. The only problem I have had so far is the keyboard sometimes freezes while I type. Not a big deal to me. No matter what electronic device you buy, there will always be something that will go wrong with it. I'm loving the New Nexus 7 so far. Just sad to see someone get discouraged over something that could be fixed by software. Enjoy your next tablet that you get.

I think it's an Asus thing rather than Google's fault, though u could argue it's Google's fault for going with aids...

Let's be honest here, you can always find a flaw in each phone/tablet out in the market. Everything comes down to your personal preference and your ability to accept certain flaws. Even ipads/iphones have their own set of issues. It may not be multi touch issues but there are some other issues.
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
/waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
I dont have any issues. None that you describe. Then again, I'm not an end user. Which you sound like. Nothing wrong with that. But you bought something for power users and devs. Not Gramma's and Hippsters..
I change the things out with other things that give me issues or that I don't like and I have full control of the tablet. Something you'll harldy get elsewhere.
But thats not what you want. You want rock stable. So buy an Apple. (which has its own issues, But thats not where I am going) or a windows slate...Muahahahahahahahahahaha....Sorry, there really is no place to go that doesn't have some kind of issue. Maybe Buy a chalk board. Those haven't had many issues in like 100+ years.
I love how everyone has their own way of fighting with OP. He wasn't trying to engage a fight simply saying that the Nexus had too many problems for his liking. I was very very close to leaving as well myself. If there was any comparable alternative I would have been gone long ago.
Why do you guys make excuses for Google? Nexus is for developers only? LOL guess u think this site is developers only too. Sure, stuff happens when your factory is in China... But this is excessive..
There needs to be accountability and quick corrective action (Google has taken some action, but not enough yet.) if we sit here and accept whatever garbage is fed to us, we will always be fed garbage simply because they can.

Tell you what, PM a mod and ask them this question. I bet you find out real quick how wrong you are. This site is only for developers. Everyone else is allowed to post because they allow it. You must be newer. When I joined if you even posted a topic such as this you'd one get ignored or flammed into oblivion and two most likely warned or straight up banned.
You fail to realize that without the devs this site is just a....forum.
The name of the forum is; XDA (delevelopers).....
Really some of you ppl...

Xda developers, yes... How many people are developing for Xda? I guess we should all be banned. What kind of statement are u making did you even think before you post?
Yeah, maybe a mod thinks this site is only for developers... But I would like to see the reaction on the site owners face if you told him they have banned all non developers. Ad revenue instantly = 0
Historically the site was started for developers maybe but now I guarantee 90% of site content cannot be considered development. Unless you consider a million replies asking where to download Gapp zip for paranoid android development....
Stuff like the OP doesn't belong Development forum, but can you blame the guy for posting here? I went through 20 Nexus only to find out that it was a firmware issue. Google messed up royally...
