You can use dooms kernel, or find the tft file for the rom your using, use 7zip to unpack it, find kernel.sin, copy kernel.sin to fastboot folder, open a command window and type in "fastboot flash boot kernel.sin"

To run CM7 you need the kernel provided with each release.
to flash the kernel open cmd and put the kernel (boot.img) on the same folder that fastboot.exe and type this command :
fastboot flash boot boot.img
and connect your phone in fastboot mode (blue led on the side)
or download attached zip and put the kernel you want to flash on inside flashkernel folder, rename the kernel to boot.img and double click on DoomLordKernel.bat
Obviously you need unlocked bootloader

You cannot use doomlords kernel with cm7 full stop. Doomlords kernel is built from Sony's kernel source! CM7 uses a diffrent source ........

You should link back to the CM7 thread, instead of posting the kernel here. I know the Devs want to keep an eye on the D/L numbers ........

If you have unlocked bootloader. Just flash binary's rooted update.zip from recovery!

I have a R800A Xperia Play with stock 4.0.2.A.0.42 firmware NA firmware
I have installed CWM Recovery from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1390771
I was getting Error 7 installation aborted when I tried to Update the DarkForestRom RC2 ROM using CWM
Re-downloaded multiple times
Read all the post in the DarkForestRom RC2 and edited the updater-script AT META-INF/com/google/android/ and repacked it using windows compresses zip
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20496893&postcount=63
I still get Error 7 installation aborted
Enabled and disabled assert option using in cwm but still same error
Tried to replace the built.prop in the rom with the stock one and it just aborts the installation with no error
Need help please as that Rom looks great
You can't install roms with a locked bootloader.

Sorry, my mistake. Assumed since it had a custom kernel it was needed to run.
Anyone one have any other suggestion that I can try without unlocking the bootloader
I get error 7. Can't find a way round it. If somebody was to make a nandroid backup of this freshly installed, could anybody put those files on their phone and restore it?

Hai There....
After I search around on google I found some tutorials to make a custom rom, ofcourse there is rom kitchen but I like to know how I can make a rom for the Arc??
And is there anyway to to decompile tft ??? because I like to know it too..
Thanks everybody...
+1
Yeah, Ive been meaning to ask this question as well!
Its just crazy having to scour the entire XDA just to find a few skins for systemUI or SEHOME, but a tuts will do a lot more good in the long run.
Will somebody help?
Make nand backup and copy system.img and data.img and boot.img to kitchen folder..start kitchen and start to work.
With this method you can also modify stock rom.
How to get cygwin and kitchen work..use search and you find good tutorials many.
Happy working and give us report about progress.
Cheers
Taavi

Boot.img is kernel and ramdisk, grab it from the stock ftf if you are working on stock.
if not grab it from teh rom you are basing off.

Sony fones have the boot partition hidden. So no you can't grab it off fone. You can use the files. Look for iridaki's boot IMG/ ramdisk thread. That explains it. In lots of detail.

problem is that i will flash that baseband but i cannot do that with flashtool. No way to flash ftf file! even a firmware.I am currently on XP but i tried with Win 7 but same.
only 3% goes further than stops with some message as :MAJOR err CLASS,ERR_STATIC,SIN_HEAD_VER,ERR_DYNAMIC=failed to verify sin header.....something like that!

no mate i dont think so..it's LT18i_BB77.ftf for arc s.from link i have posted above!
come on guys...dont forget my problem!
Bad post (had to delete it). Sory !
Puuush...
I haven't had an in depth look, but I'm guessing you could just extract the ftf and .sin then push them to the phone unsure if other steps are needed.

will be great to have,or if you have a solution!
If your ftf files are valid you should check your language®ional settings it should be U.K or something if you are coming from another regional settings.
After that you can flah via flashtool.

Thanx but...
i changed that but no go.If you mean it to change on PC!?
it goes only 3% and stops

Sorry been busy don't have time to do it, but try extracting the .ftf then use flashtool to to extract the .sin and finally mount the yaffs2 files and just push them to the phone. Then in cwm make sure you run fix permissions.

Hi.
Open the zip file on your computer and delete the "bcmdhd.ko" file from
/system/lib/modules .
Compress the 3 folders and flash
I will rebuild this kernel to not include this file since the inc2 does not use

Thank you for your reply, except the wifi not run, the another problem is the kernel not changed, it is still the kernel "3.0.16-g1aff800 [email protected]#1 PREEMPT " not changed. Therefore, using recovery to flash the kernel cannot succeed in the official root (rooted but s-on) or may be just in the official rom. do you think I am right?
still not booting after removing bcmdhd.ko ...

Thank you, Bsmitty83 and for your good kernel, and I may find the reason, because my phone is only HTCDEV unlock, so the kernel cannot be flash, only I can is to flash the boot.img through pc. so then I will go to s-off, and then I will try this again.
