problem is that i will flash that baseband but i cannot do that with flashtool. No way to flash ftf file! even a firmware.I am currently on XP but i tried with Win 7 but same.
only 3% goes further than stops with some message as :MAJOR err CLASS,ERR_STATIC,SIN_HEAD_VER,ERR_DYNAMIC=failed to verify sin header.....something like that!

come on guys...dont forget my problem!
Bad post (had to delete it). Sory !
Puuush...
I haven't had an in depth look, but I'm guessing you could just extract the ftf and .sin then push them to the phone unsure if other steps are needed.

will be great to have,or if you have a solution!
If your ftf files are valid you should check your language®ional settings it should be U.K or something if you are coming from another regional settings.
After that you can flah via flashtool.

Sorry been busy don't have time to do it, but try extracting the .ftf then use flashtool to to extract the .sin and finally mount the yaffs2 files and just push them to the phone. Then in cwm make sure you run fix permissions.

All you need is the img, which is already rooted, the ftf is for those with a locked boot loader.
ok cool thanks thought i may need to do both as people were complaining of losing wifif, ok here goes then cheers for the help

Might be an idea if you do have issues to flash the ftf and wipe user data, but I just flashed the image and haven't had any issues.
Had to do both in the end as WiFi didn't work, all good now though

Have your phone on with USB debugging and unknown sources enabled. Plug in the USB and open the rooting .bat file. Choose option 2 then hit enter. Open backup & restore and restore the rootme backup. Don't touch it from there (unless a box pops up on the phone which you can hit okay) phone will reboot and it should do its thing. The .bat file screen will tell you everything so read what it says. Shouldn't be any hitting of any other option except 2 for the Sony phones.

Pretty ridiculous for ATT to leave that app out to begin with.
This method has worked for me on all the ics fws, so I don't know. Maybe it was a bad flash, try wiping and flashing ics again.

There are threads detailing how to use flashtool and how to flash the ion. You should read them thoroughly. It is pretty simple.

Just follow the instructions. I've had problems like you also. :victory:
ALSO, you can just download Flashtool (by B1nary and Andoxyde I think) via Google.
The Sony flashtool doesn't require a log in... When you are prompt to log in just hit cancel!!!

Thanks. After applying the BL relock I couldn't boot. Which is why I needed a full stock ROM flash. From here I was able to run the repair tool within PC Companion and completely restore to 100% stock.

Hmm thats right but try to open it again and should simply open without any log in prompt... Thats what my computer does..

You need to put the customizacion.ini file that comes inside the compressed file into the installation folder of Sony flashtool (Program Files\Sony Mobile\Emma) after installation.
With that made, Emma is not going to ask you to log in.
Read the instructions carefully next time.
I installed windows 8, and the new version of flashtool, also drivers, everything was fine but when i enter in flashmode ftf files doesn´t appear in the box. I have used various versions of flashtool and problem continues. Any suggestion?

Which ftf file are you using?
.62 should work, instead .42 doesn't on the last flashtool version (i read flashtool 0.6 recognizes .42 ftf but I never checked).
Thanks
I reinstalled flashtool, and also used the version 0.6, nothing solved my problem. May be with the next update of flashtool
Thanks again and solve it
Installed version 0.9 of flashtool and this recognizes ftf 42, not the other ones but something is something. Thanks by your answers.

Rename the file , and change the format ftf to zip , and open it , if there is a password u have to remove the password of the zip file , then rename it to ftf , then flash tool should recognize the file

hello i have the problem too, linux and windows
when tft is not seen ,i recommend to extract tft content, and create new one using Tool -> Bundles -> Create.
If is file corrupted, you will see it during extraction process.
Here, aside from Flashtool not detecting FTF inside "firmwares", It also has no "Devices" info to choose from, so "Bundle" can't be completed as well... in other words, stuck at unable to flash firmware. I will try with an older Flashtool version later, cause I'm struggling with the very latest one...

To whoever finds this thread in search of an answer, like I did, here's the solution that helped me:
Go to C:/Users/username/.flashtool/devices, delete all the files there and clone https://github.com/Androxyde/devices manually (I guess you can delete everything except .git folder, download repo as zip and extract it there).
Somehow flashtool doesn't clone it fully, and some devices folders end up not having .properties file.
