Which ftf file are you using?
.62 should work, instead .42 doesn't on the last flashtool version (i read flashtool 0.6 recognizes .42 ftf but I never checked).
Thanks
I reinstalled flashtool, and also used the version 0.6, nothing solved my problem. May be with the next update of flashtool
Thanks again and solve it
Installed version 0.9 of flashtool and this recognizes ftf 42, not the other ones but something is something. Thanks by your answers.

Rename the file , and change the format ftf to zip , and open it , if there is a password u have to remove the password of the zip file , then rename it to ftf , then flash tool should recognize the file

hello i have the problem too, linux and windows
when tft is not seen ,i recommend to extract tft content, and create new one using Tool -> Bundles -> Create.
If is file corrupted, you will see it during extraction process.
Here, aside from Flashtool not detecting FTF inside "firmwares", It also has no "Devices" info to choose from, so "Bundle" can't be completed as well... in other words, stuck at unable to flash firmware. I will try with an older Flashtool version later, cause I'm struggling with the very latest one...

Wait. I kinda like your proposed workaround... though I haven't tried yet. How does this password looks like?

To whoever finds this thread in search of an answer, like I did, here's the solution that helped me:
Go to C:/Users/username/.flashtool/devices, delete all the files there and clone https://github.com/Androxyde/devices manually (I guess you can delete everything except .git folder, download repo as zip and extract it there).
Somehow flashtool doesn't clone it fully, and some devices folders end up not having .properties file.

Hi guys,
I am new to android os. I wanted to root my phone which has os 2.3.3 installed. I was following this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1133650. It says first downgrade with flashtool to 2.3.2 then root it then upgrade to 2.3.3. Downloaded 2 firmwares, global versions 2.3.2 .181
First of all when I click flash button in firmware selection screen firmware content tab only shows simlock.ta but in videos which I watched there were many files listed. If I open usb debugging mode and connect my phone flashtool cannot find driver and ask me to choose manually how ever I copied LT15.sin file to loaders folder. If I turn off usb debugging mode (unknown sources are open) and follow screen instructions, flashtool starts flashing and immediately stops and tells me to remove usb, open phone and open unknown sources and usb debugging on. I did not try resetting my phone to factory defaults. I think problem is my computer, running windows 7, and cannot see other file than simlock.ta in flashtool's firmware selection screen firmware content tab. Any help is appreciated.
It should work no problem.
Did you have both PC companion and SEUS installed on your comp? You need both for the drivers.
Some people have trouble using the lastest beta flashtool, so you might want to use the older one (the one before the lastest beta).

Have you tried re-downloading the ftf file you wish to flash?
Because it seems that there's some sort of issue with the file you have.
Also, what version of Flashtool are you using?
Because I've never been prompted to choose what model of handset I have.

I unziped ftf file (one file) and pasted it directly into firmwarares folder. I think my problem is with java, eventhough I removed and installed java to solve problem it did not work. In flashtool flash section, firmware contents tab there was only simlock.ta is saw. I tried with flashtool 2.4 version and it showd all sin files in firmware content tab. 2.8 and 2.9.1 is not working for me. Tried desktop and laptop pc both have same problem. For people who will face with my problem my advise is using Wotan servers. I flashed 2.3.2 and rooted then OTA upgraded to 2.3.3 with Wotan servers.
Thanks.

I have used at least 7 different programs but none of them work.
Im afraid the problem is i cant get into fastboot mode and my blue light wont turn on.
If thats the problem is there a way to fix it?
And if its not what is the problem and can i fix it?

Wait if you are just rooting you don't need to do that. What model is your phone?
Check if your bootloader isn't locked and you have unlock it first.

What I would do is flash back but at first check if your fastboot is actually not working.
Turn off the device and check it, take out the battery and put it back in then hold search button and plug in usb if you have a blue light then fastboot is ok.
You also need Android ADB drivers which you need to have the Android SDK to get them or if you have flashtool there is a drivers folder which is the simplest method to install ADB bridge.
Then using flashtool (if it worked) flashed the DoomLord Kernel, if it says you have no permission to do so then you need to unlock your bootloader.

Can you give me the link to the folders or to the flashtool that has the folders with it when you install it?

You should first download flashtool. Then use flashtool to flash the verizon firmware. I will provide a link. Then enter flashmode by turning your phone off completely. Then use superoneclick to root

Luckily you have flashtool so you do not need the Android Sdk. There should be a drivers folder in your flashtool and an executable inside that will install like a normal program. This contains all the drivers you will ever need.
On every time it installs one it will prompt you to install or not install jusf click install and you will be asked this about 20 times for each driver.

If I remember correctly, the xperia play 4g was R800at and not R800x. Well anyway you have to download the firmware for your phone. Then place it in the firmware folder inside the flashtool folder. This should be the correct firmware for your phone. http://www.mediafire.com/?qqvtl484nlz3gq0 just place the ftf in the firmware folder. Start flashtool, click flash, then choose flashmode. Select the firmware. There should be instructions on how to plug in your phone and there it should flash.

If your ftf files are valid you should check your language®ional settings it should be U.K or something if you are coming from another regional settings.
After that you can flah via flashtool.

it's been just two days since I got my new ZL
Cause: It happened when I changed 'build.prob' and saved via Root Explorer.
As soon as I saved the file, phone automatically rebooted and fell into boot loop.
I believe something is wrong with permission (for build.prob)
My ZL
does not have unlocked bootloader
thus , does not have recovery to fix permission.
ADM does not work since usb debugging was turned off
is rooted
is able to go into FASTBOOT but can't flash since it's not unlocked bootloader.
I believe it can be fixed by changing permission for 'build.prop' to 644
spent like 3 hours til 6 am here and no luck.
Is there is any method I can fix permission? recover or do factory reset?
I was following 'MUST DO' list for ZL. it happened when I tried to remove navibar.
Any comment will be appreciated.
