- Wave 525 and Wave 533: receive an update without some features of bada 2.0 by the end of December
Best Regards

this is generally. for russian it eill be released in the end of 2011
AND!!! Important, 525 and 523 won't get bada 2.0 - there will be a Value Pack - some nice things like chat on for 525 and 533. It was confirmed to me by samsung representative.

This is great news, I even read on Badablog.ru that a user who calls himself droider.ru spoke to one representative of Sasmung at the conference in Russia and that they are working on a Android emulator App for Bada.
Translation:
One of the Samsung representatives said that they are working on an Android Emulator App for Bada but plans and dates haven`t been made public yet.
If that`s true then this is fantastic news for us and Bada itself, since the lack of apps is Bada`s biggest problem.

This is gonna started to be interesting.

It's very interesting. Samsung's own workers say that haa. Really, if it's gonna be true a lot of user buy Bada phone for this and lot of people who sold their Wave-Wave 2 will cry

Will samfirmware release the rest of leaked bada 2.0 firmwares when there is bada 2.0 update in rusia?

If they add an android emulator to bada, I will be able to get Whatsap! That is literally the only issue I have with Bada as while I love working with wp7, until they release Apollo or a higher resolution screen format, I will rather stick with my amazingly cheap yet powerul wave 2!
Bada runs without lag. I can't say the same about most Android phones, adding the ablility to run the apps we want if we need to would make the platform a true alternative to the clusterfck of Android phones( No such thing as a cheap iOS phone or wp7 phone, Symbian is long in the tooth ).
Samsung may have let most users outside of their main areas down, but next year is another year in which they can make all things ok. (SHP I am looking at you)

Thanks for the info...updated it on badadownload.com

I have already asked the Samsung representative to prove this information on the emulator, waiting for the answer )

When i asked samsung about emulator they told this.

good stuff i was wonding if its up but its not out yet... when it does... my dream will come true... lol.
Finally some official info out today. It'll be released in the US on October 22nd. Going for $179 with a 2 year contract. And I think $199 for a 1 year contract possibly...
Its the 1st time I've seen HTC sell a major phone exclusivly to the US. I only hope us in the rest of the world will get a release or a chance to get it out of network.

Hmmm ... that's going to make my next phone purchase a tough one. AT&T's Rapheal, or T-Mobile's Dream. Windows or Android. Doh.
Tsss, its gotta be Android of course. I like Winmo too so far, since its really been the only proper OS over symbian and others for modibility and such. But opensource Android (linux) has clearly waaaaaay more flexibility and will be my 1st choice.
.
Can some-one rip the Amazon MP3 app, reverse engineer the api and bring it to Windows Mobile? How hard can it be? The underlying OS is open source, so the api calls can be easily identified, and it only downloads songs, so it cant be too complicated.
Surur
i'd like a touch hd WITH keyboard AND flash and android on it... the dream is nice but hasnt top notch specs... otherwise id like android (through haret) on my pharos

Raphael. Mainly because Android will most certainly be recompiled to run on it, but probably not vice versa. They both run on the MSM7201A even.
Hey all. To dispel any rumors about the Dream (now officially the T-mobile G1) Ive added some more info to the Dream Wiki. All the info has been gleamed from the various official sources at the launch etc. Check it out, very informative.

Mobbyway : a new and efficient radar detector

Hello everybody,
just a message to announce a new freeware to detect speed camera. it's a french software, with live update for the mobile radar.
you can find this jewel her : http://www.mobbyway.com/
the soft is under development, and the skin is enough "rustik", but it should become a must have.

Just hope to be enough users in front of you to give information to server but it’s everybody problem

I always thought XDA was a non-US site to begin with...
Hi guys,
4 months since the last answer on this thread... It's time to "up" this thread once again !
First of all : don't use the zip file provided in the post #2, because it's really really too old now.
Go to www.mobbyway.com to download the latest version (v21 for the moment !)
Many things have changed with this brilliant software...
About 4 to 5 new versions release, a growing and growing amount of users (especially since the beginning of september) and an android version release . And a really reactive forum and team.
Iphone version should be available in November and the amount of informatics dummies that are using "this high technology phone" (hum hum) will, I hope, really increase again the number of users.
I use this software for 3 months and the number of user has amazingly increased !
Nevermore alone on the road ;-)
As said previously, it's a software written in France but also used in Belgium, Netherlands.
If the law allow it (for instance in Germany this kind of software is not allowed), I think you can use it all over the world (it's just GPS coordinates that are transmitted, and I think they will not be stopped at the border ;-)
You should give it a try, because it's really impressive (and free).
Remember that this kind of software is "cooperative" so, even if there are not many users in the beginning, continue to use it and this will reinforce the community.
That's what we call in French a "snow ball effect" (if this snow ball downs a slope)

Bada 2.0 Unveiled

Today at MWC, Samsung unveiled the newest version of the bada OS – bada 2.0. With it comes some impressive features like multitasking, NFC (near-field communication), voice recognition, all new Flash-based lock screen, Flash support along with HTML 5, and so much more! Behind the scenes, there is an all new application framework, new SDK, new emulators, and more tools for developers to develop bada apps. Aside from that, we could see abut 5 new bada devices this year if the presentation slides are any indicator. Samsung continues to focus its attention on ways to make bada more competitive and I think all these new features will push bada into competitive field.
Samsung will release bada 2.0 for the Wave S8500 and the S8530 around June 2011. Samsung also plans to sell about 10 million bada phones in the first half of 2011.

Thanks for the link. I hope they do indeed release Bada 2.0 on schedule. So far they've been far too slow for updates for the Wave series of phones.

Don't worry most of people over here don't like bada...
1.Bada 2.0 voip, flash player 10.1, etc... are not there,
2.Samsung apps is crap, for apps wait 5yrs,they keep adding only themes which in no angle cost even 2 cents
3.Bada is closed source and i am sure no one likes living with it.
I feel android mid-end phones like optimus one, galaxy ace have more productivity than wave 1 & 2 which also cost less with lesser hardware...
Bada degrades superior hardware of wave... so no use keeping it!!!!!!!!

Nothing to do with the ZL - this should be in the Android General forum.
Beak me off a piece of that KitKat bar yo!
In all seriousness, all we know is a name so far. There are rumors under the key lime pie codename but that's it. We won't be seeing an official ROM from Sony on the ZL until Q4 2014 or even H1 2015. We will be lucky if we have 4.3 officially by the end of the year.
Saying all that. The version numbers aren't very important now that Google has separated most of their services from their OS. In a way that is very good because we get most of the latest features that gets rolled out with the various gapps updates without having to wait for the features to be updated with the ROM.
Since I like to rock it stock, I am looking forward to an official 4.3 release for our phone to have native TRIM support.

I'm pretty unhappy at the idea of a release of an operating system for my phone being free promotion for another company.. particularly one like Nestlé. It's unnecessary and inappropriate, imho.
Ya the promotion is totally unnecessary..
Let's see what this update brings..
And yeah we might only see this next year for our devices.. I wonder if officially though

Google hit a point where there's no more innovation. It used to be every time an Android update hit, massive sweeping changes were implemented that completely changed the experience. Now, we're lucky if it's smoother or better battery life.
I keep hoping they will announce 5.0, but even then I have to wonder exactly what they would have as a feature to make you go "WOW!"

I don't see the problem with the cross promotion. It came out of a Google engineer's genuine enjoyment of the confection that resulted in a friendly promotional deal that benefited both parties without money changing hands. This is a rarity in business.
Source: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-23926938
As for innovation, I don't think we will see anything major for a little while. The core experience had made a huge leap with the introduction of Android 4.0. Google has been introducing small changes that, as a user, I wouldn't have known about if I didn't keep up with tech news. For the most part, technical changes to the OS can really be mostly appreciated by the developers and those of use that care about technical details. Most users are given updates and innovations in the form of updated Google apps and services which Google has been separating from the underlying OS. In the cases where we don't like things that Google provides, we have the great developers here who help us make the most of what we want; the way we want it. ArsTechnica did a pretty good writeup if you want to read it.

It's still business, and Nestle benefits from it greatly. Nestle are a company with a very, very dirty history and if I wanted to support them, I'd buy their products - which I don't. Ever. This deal gives free advertising to them and their products and if I want the latest version of Android, I do not have a choice but to buy into that. If the Google engineer enjoys that confection, he should go out and buy a ton of it with his salary and that should be the end of it having anything to do with Android.

It was put out awhile back in semi official form that we were not getting anything past 4.1.2. I haven't kept up but it appears the i9100 is still on 4.1.2 and even if it got 4.2.2 it was still be HIGHLY doubtful not only 4.2.2 wouldn't be developed for our varient but that Sprint would choose to spend the resources on testing. On some occasions a old variant update is moved to carrier testing and the carrier rejects testing outright.
4.2 on AOSP is the last you currently get to see of WiMax. There are no WiMax phones with android updates in development.
As far as AOSP projects and roms go 4.3 is available sans WiMax and while the CM builds seem a bit rough (Mic volume is very very very low on speakerphone) the 4.4 CyanogenMod 11 build Dastin has is working great. I haven't had GPS working this will since 2.3. Its smooth and fast but 4.4 AOSP is the end of the road for this phone to be honest. Its out of system space so it gets hairy from here on out. Custom rom users will have to either put up with stripping out apps or attempt to re partition the device for more space.
Also Samsung and Samsung support will almost never know when a phone on a US carrier is pushing an update, especially a Sprint phone. US carriers do alot of testing with all of their customization's. Samsung pushes a build to Sprint and days to weeks later it might get green lit. Samsung obviously knows when a phone is still being developed for and has a time frame for international device releases. However tech support almost never has a schedule that is not already posted on every android site in existance.
