Today at MWC, Samsung unveiled the newest version of the bada OS – bada 2.0. With it comes some impressive features like multitasking, NFC (near-field communication), voice recognition, all new Flash-based lock screen, Flash support along with HTML 5, and so much more! Behind the scenes, there is an all new application framework, new SDK, new emulators, and more tools for developers to develop bada apps. Aside from that, we could see abut 5 new bada devices this year if the presentation slides are any indicator. Samsung continues to focus its attention on ways to make bada more competitive and I think all these new features will push bada into competitive field.
Samsung will release bada 2.0 for the Wave S8500 and the S8530 around June 2011. Samsung also plans to sell about 10 million bada phones in the first half of 2011.

Who can tell me where you have Chinese version 1.2 download? thank you
Thanks for the link. I hope they do indeed release Bada 2.0 on schedule. So far they've been far too slow for updates for the Wave series of phones.

Hi,
We would be glad to inform you that SDK 2.0 beta version will be available by the end of first half. However, users in different countries will start getting the firmware
updates for most of the devices within the second half of this year.
Thanks,

And all we have seen from bada 2.0 is early Alpha concept thingies... not finished release stuff...
We can hope that bada 2.0 SDK is available in 2 months... maybe. And maybe some day leak bada 2.0 Alpha Firmware... maybe.
Yep. We have to wait looooong time.

Don't worry most of people over here don't like bada...
1.Bada 2.0 voip, flash player 10.1, etc... are not there,
2.Samsung apps is crap, for apps wait 5yrs,they keep adding only themes which in no angle cost even 2 cents
3.Bada is closed source and i am sure no one likes living with it.
I feel android mid-end phones like optimus one, galaxy ace have more productivity than wave 1 & 2 which also cost less with lesser hardware...
Bada degrades superior hardware of wave... so no use keeping it!!!!!!!!

Google Android SDK is out, when will we see the first Alpha for our trinity?
Google Android SDK
I was looking at this lastnight, would be great to get it running on a trinity, but I'm betting it would be a b*tch to find the required drivers for a lot of the more advanced hardware (gps, 3g radio, etc...)
That said I think it still needs a bit of polish before it'll be truely ready, very pretty though.
would be prety cool and maby better faster and nicer than WM
it will be faster than WM

how long will we wait?
it appears that in the video, they explain that 3G+, wifi, GPS etc... a lot of technologies would be supported, and, as all of you knows, it is open source, so drivers won't be long to be released.
i also browsed the http://code.google.com/android and looked after the members of what they named "The Alliance", it appears that HTC is one of them, so it will be good for us =)
let's have news later of this really good looking project !!!
Older stuff
It looks like a good project. But what would be nice is a OS that can be installed on older PDAs (With or without phone). Some of the older units which have larger screens and good cpu just languish in the closet because the OS is outdated and the manufacturer would rather sell new than support older units. I've invested money into a solid unit that now just sits, and moved everything over to the Trinity.
But hey, someday the Trinity will be old and it's sites like this that will be the only support.
Is there anything new to the Android OS on HTC Trinity? I'd like to test it... ;-)

I repeat myself: Don't expect anything for free for the P3600. HTC has obviously stopped work on this device, and moreover is already angering customers with next-generation-phones, by stating that the problems might be solved in future devices. So don't hold your breath for HTC to create drivers for hardware from 2006.
Have fun!

I think HTC Touch is the only pda capable to run android, but yes, i'd love to run into my white trinity...
I have read on official mailing lidt for Android, that android is made for ARM5 processor.
Our trinity have an ARM4 processor so,it won't work.
And it's look like you can't cross compil to ARM4 besause some part of the kernel is not release, and some processor instrution need to be replace...
Android, Google, MS and other "paranoid" stuff
Ok Folks,
From time to time my "looming" side wins over and my paranoid side peeks up...
Don't be so eager to see the new android as a 7th wonder. What I thought (and feared most) about MS as a Big Brother one day (the "conspiracy" to make us buy ever newer "state of art" computers and because the new OS versions (with each time more demanding HD, memory and processor specs; not to speak of the unknown amount of personal data unknowingly "smugled" into their databanks) now seems grow even worse as the new BB stands up with the happy idea of "net free applications!".
So what? Why can we not set the Google Maps Cache according to our needs? Why do we need to be ON-LINE to use it?
We are stimulated to move some of our files to free-on-line datacenter (or shortly will be invited to).
Think of it a little: if a good part of our applications move to the WEB, fine, cheap, but you'll have to be on-line to access it.
How about some nice and cheap montly contribution, some sort of "signature" for you to access the files you put there. Imagine if MS brokes up and everbody turns Google and Android. How much power do you think this Corp will amount?
If Android goes this thread (on-line apps only or mostly) keep your head down and take easy. The least I would expect was to see the old Bill's as a nice guy after all...
After all, with normal software once bought it is YOURS (ok Antivirus and such don't count), with on-line apps, it will never be yours...
Ok, that is it.
Have a nice week!
Nothing except free software is yours when you use it.
I wouldn't count on an Android port for HTC devices (not even the Diamond). Windows Mobile is a great platform but nobody took advantage of its full capacity.
Don't expect to see anything better than WM6.1 running on a Trinity.
By the way, does anybody know if Linux currently works on it?

Actually there have some threads, out of date... The developers seem to have left Trinity out, because of its lack of keyboard.

Kernel vs ARM4
We need to wait that kernel have drivers to work with ARM4...
Android on Trinity wanted!!
now that the full code is out it's possible!!
who is able to translate the available WM drivers into Android drivers?!?

According to this site:
- Multilanguage
- Ultra fast for an early build (I quote : "So fast that it looks like on WM 6.5 the Snapdragon only ran at half its power")
- TomTom is bundled with that ROM
- No SMS problem (They are referring to the SMS issues on WM 6.5 on most Leo ROMs)
- Zune part of the phone is not working on this ROM (error reports, etc.)
For the time being, no source/link to a ROM is provided, I'll keep you posted. But it doesn't seem like a fake to me.

That's what I figured as well at first sight... But then I saw that every tiles is translated in Dutch, as well as having a Dutch operator... I guess time will tell.
I apologize beforehand if this turns out to be fake, I thought I'd share it to everyone here.
it seems real to me i guess. i believe that the rom might not b working cause the os is not even half ready right now. its just that MS had to show something so they made a simple mockup jus to fill the presentation yest. lets see how thingsgo now and how much they grow this concept of windows phone 7 series..
If this is not fake, leaked Windows Phone 7 roms will be soon over the internet

No need for apology. You found a good and interesting site...
I think the good news there though, is that 'applications' still live on (TomTom) so the whole multi-tasking issue could be a non-issue as long as stuff still work in the background.
And at the end of the day it is running on top of CE6, so multitasking should be there, even if it's tried to be hidden away.
the background image ... dunno ... oddd
easy to fake and just display as an image
Some guy on a dutch site tests devices for htc. He hangs around, also on xda, as "xmoo". He stated dat htc is running WP7 on a hd2 somewhere in taiwan.
So it is definetely possible to run it on a hd2, I think soon there will be roms available with WP7 here on xda.
There's no reason to doubt that an early build has been made to run on the HD2. If there's any existing commercially available device that could be used as a test bed that that's it. Unless everyone working on WP7S gets prototype hardware to use, it makes sense to test it on the HD2.
Of course, that's a long way from assuming that the final version will be released for the HD2. (But then again, that's what this site is for. )
Call me crazy but maybe they'll announce a beta rom available for the HD2 at MIX or maybe later this year at TechEd? Similar to how Google had an unlocked G1 for devs and Apple allows devs to have beta builds of the iPhone OS?
MS knows that apps/hubs are going to be key for them so they'll be keen on getting it out to as many people as possible as early as possible. It's hard to write software, particularly 3D based software, solely in an emulator.
this is fake.
the show is in spain but the image says he is connected to T Mobile NL (dutch network).
everyone knows when u go to another country u use there networks not your home network.
It looks fake. The font on there is definitely not Segoe, which is used all over the Zune HD's and WP7's UI. Also, I don't think there's a background on the start screen, no?

They've never shown a background before but I would be sorta surprised if it didn't support having a background.
Looks like the same font to me...
This picture definitely isn't taken on the MWC. It must have been made in the Netherlands as you can see that it is connected to a dutch network. This would either indicate that developers do indeed get early builds to start development of software, or it is fake.
Now it would seem reasonable to release the software on a currently existing device which is capable of running WP7. This would be the HD2. This way developers can start creating and running software on the platform.
Fake or not, it is only a matter of time before developers should receive a build to tinker around with. We all know how important Apps are for the platform to work. I was however expecting them to receive those in a month.
WinMo.nl says that it's an early build of WP7, so that could explain the differences.
And the differences makes it even more possible to be real!
Anyway I'd love it to be real.
I can't say this comes as a surprise...

Not really.
If they optimistic about the launch being soon they would have said Q3 2010 not H2 2010.
They are more than likely going to release it around september (Going by the hero that may actually end up being September 2011 )
Thank god for custom roms.
H2 2010 could be as early as 1st July or as late as 31st December so a pretty vaque date.
Im counting on the mod community for 2.2 on my Desire, actually prefer the nexus GUI anyway.
Well rumours going round ( I now, already)

That's the SDK build, someone had it running on the Hero as well. I'm sure it can be installed on the Desire but it isn't usable for day to day use. It's lacking a lot like the Market e.t.c.

seems like it, another HTC promise that will be delayed as usual.
gave up my HTC Hero and got Desire few weeks back.
I think Google would provide HTC with the new interface in the next few weeks. How long HTC takes to incorporate it into its Sense UI is anybody's guess.
IT corps don't give a range as wide as 6 months after the OEM product is announced unless they are not yet anywhere near release stage and not optimistic to release until the back-half of the time period mentioned. Standardized protocol by now; not good news at all
-------------------------------------
- Sent via my HTC Desire -
Hi all,
See below responsed I received today from HTC.
Thank you for contacting HTC.
We are dedicated to providing you with the best quality service and promptly responding to all your questions and concerns.
Here are some Frequently asked question regarding FROYO.
1.Why doesn't my HTC Desire have the Froyo version of Android?
We have been working on these phones for some time before Froyo was announced. In order to make these phones available to you as soon as possible, we had to launch them with the previous version of Android. However your phone will most likely get an update to the new Froyo version.
2.Will you upgrade my phone to Froyo?
If your phone was launched this year, we will most likely offer an upgrade for it to the Froyo version. This includes popular models like the Desire and Droid Incredible as well as hotly anticipated phones like the Evo 4G, MyTouch slide and upcoming models. We will announce a full list of phones and dates once we are closer to launching the upgrades.
3.When will my phone get an upgrade?
We are working closely with Google and our other partners to ensure we have the earliest access to everything we need to provide a complete and solid Sense experience on Froyo. We expect to release all updates in the second half of this year but can't be more specific yet.
4.It took much longer than you claimed to release the Éclair update for the Hero and Droid Eris, how do we know the Froyo won't be delayed too?
We have learned much from our first software upgrade experience and have taken all that into account when providing this estimate. While we are fairly sure this timeframe is accurate, we cannot guarantee it 100%. We won't rush to release an upgrade that is not ready for you to use without fear of problems, but we will do our best to hit our target.
5.How come my hero or droid Eris isn't getting an update to Froyo?
We feel that the Eclair update we are currently launching for these phones offers similar functionality and works much better in the smaller memory size of these phones. Why can't you just release a Google experience version of Froyo for the hero or Eris? We believe our users have grown to depend on many of the features of Sense not offered by Google's user experience. We believe Sacrificing those features would be more of a loss than users would gain in the changes from 2.1 to 2.2.
6.Will your Froyo update include wifi tethering? will carriers charge extra for it?
This decision will be a collaborative one between HTC and our carrier partners. It will likely differ between models and between carriers.
HTC Desire will get FroYo in
- 1 month = magic / mission impossible
- 2 months = We will love HTC a lot more
- 3 months = It is about the right time
- >3 months = That's late
- >6 months = most likely
well we should stop guessing and start anticaping once the exact dates are out which shouldn't be far from now, i personally can't wait because i have the stock ROM, and 120mb to apps in isn't very convenient, moving them to my 32GB memory card is.
now where win mobile 7 has just been released and is available in the stores or better on the new htc mobiles i really wonder when we will get the first official rom from htc for the hd2? I really wonder why it takes so long, isnt the hd2 arichtecture comparable to the one of the hd7? i hope it will come soon...
There wont be an official wp7 rom for the hd2

Hmm, where have you been the passed 10 months? The HD7 is Microsofts and HTC's way of giving you WPS7 on a comparable device. You either need to get a new device, or wait for devs to port it.
I guess in the meantime you can enjoy Android is you are bored.

Woah! This is really impressive! This was been the best presentation of WP7 on the HD2. I "can" be fake, but they pulled it off very well if they did. *AHEM TOM CODON!!!
Why has there not been many hype about this video?
I honestly, think it looks legit...
what do you guys think? have they beat Cotulla to it?
I'm chinese...and also a member of the forum you guys mentioned before...from my opinion, that's just a theme of win7...not a rom...
I think it's not the true wp7 system because of the static main screen.
The video don't show us contact and phone mode, it's the same things for xbox live.

ok i dont doubt that anyone will be able to port it complete to the hd2, you guys out there are smart enough but what about the rumors i heard over the last year that htc will come up with an offical wp7 rom for the hd2? i thought this was an acknowledged thing from htc or is there anyy offical statement from htc they wont do this?
From what I remember, Microsoft has reported atleast 3 different times stating that there will be no release of WP7 on the HD2. While the HD2 has been considered a test device to build WP7, it is not worth their time to build a fully funtional build on what they might call an old device. There is also the fact that Microsoft has certain restrictions on what devices will support WP7, and the HD2 does not qualify under these restrictions. Since it is Microsoft that designated these restricitons, HTC would be unable to release an official build of WP7 even if they wanted to.
The HTC HD7 is almost identical to the HD2 in terms of hardware. If anything, I would think the best unofficial build would come from this device.
I also don't doubt that there will be a build of WP7 for the HD2 in the very near future

M$ was thinking we would take way our HD2, to buy a new WP7s device......Crasy company.
I prefer to be a android embassador, to buy a new M$ device.
Finally Samsung decided to give us a date for the updates in its conference in Russia

Translation
- Wave 525 and Wave 533: receive an update without some features of bada 2.0 by the end of December
Best Regards
this is generally. for russian it eill be released in the end of 2011
AND!!! Important, 525 and 523 won't get bada 2.0 - there will be a Value Pack - some nice things like chat on for 525 and 533. It was confirmed to me by samsung representative.
This is great news, I even read on Badablog.ru that a user who calls himself droider.ru spoke to one representative of Sasmung at the conference in Russia and that they are working on a Android emulator App for Bada.
Translation:
One of the Samsung representatives said that they are working on an Android Emulator App for Bada but plans and dates haven`t been made public yet.
If that`s true then this is fantastic news for us and Bada itself, since the lack of apps is Bada`s biggest problem.

This is gonna started to be interesting.

It's very interesting. Samsung's own workers say that haa. Really, if it's gonna be true a lot of user buy Bada phone for this and lot of people who sold their Wave-Wave 2 will cry
Will samfirmware release the rest of leaked bada 2.0 firmwares when there is bada 2.0 update in rusia?
If they add an android emulator to bada, I will be able to get Whatsap! That is literally the only issue I have with Bada as while I love working with wp7, until they release Apollo or a higher resolution screen format, I will rather stick with my amazingly cheap yet powerul wave 2!
Bada runs without lag. I can't say the same about most Android phones, adding the ablility to run the apps we want if we need to would make the platform a true alternative to the clusterfck of Android phones( No such thing as a cheap iOS phone or wp7 phone, Symbian is long in the tooth ).
Samsung may have let most users outside of their main areas down, but next year is another year in which they can make all things ok. (SHP I am looking at you)
Thanks for the info...updated it on badadownload.com
I have already asked the Samsung representative to prove this information on the emulator, waiting for the answer )
When i asked samsung about emulator they told this.
