Most stable kernel out right now? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Well, exactly what the title says. What do you guys think is the most stable kernel is with the best battery life out right now?

Pulled stock, LoSt kernel or stock with CWM. Go with a Shane or bubby kernel. The LoSt kernel has 2 versions. One has overclock
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium

I had several Los's with Zedomax over clocked kernel. Sofar the stable Lost kernel has been great for me with zero Los. Stock also had zero Los on my phone.
Does the e4gt really need to be over clocked? It sure seems fast enough for me, especially if I turn off all animations. Turning off animation is just habbit I picked up from when I was running Android on the HTC Vogue, just got use to a utilitarian environment.

Well I would like to run loStkernel, but I never once got loStkernel until I did. I've had the phone since release.

Either lost kernel or the stock pulled and stock with cwm.

Whoa snap, I've been waiting for this to test out with Rob's v2.0. Will see how it holds up to the stock deodexed I'm using right now.
is what a bug?
Will this give the damn triangle? By stock.. do you mean like the one pulled from a stock device?
by stock i mean compiled from source, and the triangle is just there until you load a custom bootanimation....

shouldnt it be under kernal, not under build number?
no, kernel version is the linux kernel version... which is displayed correctly, though a bit strange looking. the build number is just provided traditionally by a rom, or kernel, or whatever...

I've used up all my thanks for the day on the 2 of you but thanks again. Been waiting on this.
Edit: Well I just flashed so haven't really got to test but my signal and down/upload speeds are WAY better!!!! Another thing I just noticed. I just got a news notification from Sprint Zone which is the first time I've ever gotten something from it since I've rooted.
I flashed this and then flashed back to stock (pulled) and now wifi will not connect.. how do I get back to stock (pulled) with working wifi?
Will be flashing this as soon as I get home.

Just curious, why are you on such an outdated version of MIUI?
Cause everything works..and ICS builds still have some question marks...small ones but there still there and i use my phone for business so everything has to work.
I tried a new kernel and the stock one is better so....
Everything works in 2.3.2, also...
Which is 2 months past the one you're using
2.3 didn't work on my evo...12.9 was the smoothest for me...every evo is different

You can flash the rom over itself without wiping data and you'll be back to the stock kernel.

Yea well once i find a good stable rom i dont update really unless it has a new feature i want.
Back when i was on myns warm 2.2. I was on RLS3 and it was awesome..smooth,great battery. So i didnt update to RLS5 for bout 3 months after it was released. But i gave in for the notification bar quick settings. But RLS5 never gave me as good battery life as RLS3.
So once i find a good rom/kernel combo. I stick with it.

[UPDATE][KERNEL][REPACK] FH13 and FH23 with AGAT recovery 8/28/12

I didn't want to create new thread for new repack.
I guess we can keep couple of kernels in one thread.
For those of you who would like to run stock kernels with the builds
here are repacked FH13 and FH23 kernels with my recovery and some init.rc edits.
SD card read speed.
Custom boot animation support
init.d support
FH13
1. FH13_AGAT.zip flash in recovery.
2. FH13_AGAT.tar flash with ODIN or Mobile ODIN.
FH23
This repack comes with AGAT tREC_v0.2.2
1.FH23_AGAT.tar flash with ODIN or mobile ODIN Mirror
2. FH23_AGAT.zip flash in recovery. Mirror
I have tested this repack with my tFF18 rom and it works.
So far no problems.
Hope you guys will enjoy it.

I don't see why it would not work with new build.
It's an ICS and it's 4.0.4. So there is no reason for custom kernel not to work with it.

Love having a stock kernel with recovery...Was using the the other stock kernel on here without the recovery on FF18 for about 4 or 5 hours tonight with no issues...I'm convinced that there's something wrong with that FF18 kernel...I've never had issues like on that kernel...I was back on EL29 for the past couple weeks...so far so good on this kernel...

Are you really asking about battery life after fresh flash and less than few hours use?
Lol damn AGAT when you coming over to the GSIII forum bro?
Not to sound like a douche but yes. I reboot twice after a fresh flash and charge to max. Then I use my phone like normal for an hr meaning screen is on and with 3g. At the end of one hr its usually sitting pretty at 80%. Sometimes 83 or sometimes 75 but that gives me an idea. I get about 10% drain per 30min on 3g with good signal thats my start point. This is how it was on gb and now on ics it has matched

Well in last 3 hours I did reboot my bout 6 times.
I was on this kernel little bit over an hour. Did some test. Run some programs.
Other than that when I'm home I'm on my laptop trying stuff. Phone is next to me for testing mostly.
My battery tests are running from time I go sleep (never put my phone on charge over night) till next day when I come home.
I know kernel is somewhat good if over night I'm loosing not more than 5-6% battery.

4g issues on all roms

I recently got a stock FH13 phone off a friend and I have it rooted. However once I rooted I found my 4g barely works on any from (10k/s). Running AOSP jb and flashed FI03 because i heard it would help but didnt. I'm coming off a ns4g where I can flash away and not worry. I tried searching here and on Google with nothing coming up. Any solutions? Thanks in advance

If you are currently on aosp jb follow the instructions in the video and update profile and prl. If you get decent 4g in your area then you will get decent 4g on any rom that has 4g working.

Are you referring to FI03 modem? That will not help, this is sounds like the "ics 4g bug" that some people get (me included), there's no fix yet for aosp. You'll need to go to a FI03 based rom, or gingerbread.
What rom are you running? Do they include the radios or I dont have to do anything since I already have that modem flashed? I looked and I couldnt find any AOSP FI03 roms. All that are FI03 are touchwiz (blahhh)

I ended up going back to Calkulin's GB rom:

with tdunham's 1.2 tweaks:

Modems are separate, and since you have FI03 modem already, you can leave that alone.

Think I can restore back to that then go back to CM9 and the fix will stick? I read that some people had that work out. My phone is a refurb so maybe thats why its being so stubborn

Nah, once you switch to CM9 you'll lose the fix. The fix is part of the FI03 rom and maybe kernel. Just try out the rom, update profile and prl. If you still get bad 4G speed then it could be the area you're in or the phone itself.
Thanks a lot. I almost bricked it (odin stopped mid process because im on WIN8) but managed to recover. My 4g speeds picked up but are nowhere near my EVO 4g. It is usable now though so thanks a lot and I will experiment some more later

Rooting for BOOST?

I just got the Epic 4G Touch from BOOST (White version). Right now I am bone stock, 4.0.4 FI22. I'm looking to ROOT it and run this ROM
([ROM] [TeaM VeNuM] RUJELUS22 The Blu Kuban FI27). Now my question is, since its on Boost, is there any difference in rooting and rom'ing? Will the methods work for mine?
If there are any differences please let me know. I have searched but Im not really finding anything.
Links would be much appreciated.
Thanks! Joe

I haven't found anything yet I'm debating about trying a one-click-root for the closest build to FI22. BUT, I dont want anything bad to happen. Not being a full tester, I cant just pull a new phone out of pocket to test it. Would be nice though, haha.

You can use agats kernel to get root, once you have root you can flash whatever rom and kernel you want as long as its for the EPIC 4G TOUCH and is compatible with the rom. Im running the BLU KUBAN rom on my BOOST MOBILE EPIC 4G TOUCH. It comes with the KUBAN kernel, and I can confirm 3G,4G work flawless so does GPS and every thing else. hope this helps you
As said before, if my simple to follow guide is followed, you can be rooted in no time without much hassle, even the most novice user can do it.

Ok, I got it rooted, now Im actually trying to get Blu Kuban. What kernal did you use to flash that ROM? I read that you cant use Agats kernal to flash Roms. Ive seen the the GB kernal EL26 is safe. But that confuses me honestly.

It shouldn't matter. In my personal testing and daily usage, Agats is safe for flashing most ICS ROM's, but some say that when it comes to AOSP or AOKP to use the EL26.
If you want to be extra safe use the EL26 CWM kernel.
Ok. So Im on Blu Kuban now. Its going to take some getting use to. But what is THE best ROM for the E4GT? Best battery life, like the #1 option for users of this phone.

I reckon that there is no such thing as a "best ROM". I personally don't like blu kuban as it has the damn blu kuban wording everywhere like if I'm playing blues clues an a lot of menus are dark, making it impossible to see unless highlighted. See how easy it is for others to have different views of ROM's when it comes to picking a best ROM?
I suggest you take a look around for a ROM in your taste. There is lots of ROM's to choice from and in the end only you can decide which works best for you with a mixture of tweaking. OFC lets also remember that certain applications you use may affect your experience with battery life on ROMs.
