If I left my phone on a table and didn't touch it for 5 hours it would be dead.

Mine must've been in a good batch. lol First ET4G and it's crazy with battery life. (on stock battery was bad), but when I met LOStKernel, my phone barely sips the juice.
This is the best I've gotten with wifi and Bluetooth on the whole time. This isn't heavy usage but I did use the phone to text and make calls. All my web browsing was done one my touchpad

Just watched a 22 minute show on Netflix with wifi.
100% to 72%.
Kernel, ROM, settings don't seem to matter. (Calibrated battery four times)
That's why I think its the modem firmware.

I do/did. Haven't gotten it since I wiped, went back to stock, and rerooted to an Odexed ROM. I did this all before I charged it to 100% and calibrated. This is its first cycle on the 'new' software.
Keep in mind I specifically turned my brightness as high as it goes to drain it harder. That was for about half of the day. Now I've listened to music and I work an 8.5 hour shift today and before it would drain a lot faster even on a busy work day without using the phone much.
I'm on stock odexed ROM with stock+root kernel using tegrak overclock to undervolt -100 across the board and not overclocking or using a different governor. I also installed the NoCIQ mod and the teamvenum battery saver mod. Froze some bloat in titanium too.
Posting an update here in the tail end of my work shift.

Is there only one modem for this phone? I'm having the issue with the battery drain and have been on several different ROMs. Can someone please link any different modems if they know. I'd be willing to test this out.

There is the eg12 modem and the eg30 modem.
EG12 is here.

If I were you, I would try whatever one you aren't currently running.
My phone came with EG30 and now I'm using EG12...it's only been a little bit so I don't want to say too much but I will say, my battery doesn't seem to be (quite literally) pouring out of my phone anymore.
Wheres EG30 Modem.bin

This was talked about between myself JohnC and a few other people awhile back. The black areas (from the looks) of it are the old "white" areas that you would normally see. If you drop to an AOSP rom the signal line looks just like it once did back on GB roms. However it's now been changed in ICS. No one really knows why this was done as nothings been said about it. However the black really does not mean anything at all it could just be an image file missing or whatever but on the newer ICS leaks this is the normal look.

That's actually wrong. while running the ICS leaks I was not losing signal at any point and it would still show up. there were times it whould show up during times when I was actually ON the phone. So this does not have anything to do with LOS.

Yeah, its not a LOS. Its just the way it reports the signal on ICS. It had me worried at first but,I haven't lost signal once. I am wondering if it only reports during calls and texts. I had almost no calls on this phone yesterday. It was all trolling XDA and downloading as well as reading news stories and I have almost an all black line for signal
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Yeah I've noticed this too. I thought it was a flaw. You can tell when it's happening. Check your status bar, your signal indicator goes away completely. It's annoying because I think it is losing signal when its not.

I notice something else, it seems to happen to me the most often when I'm connected to WiFi which you show you were as well. I believe this is an indicator for 3G network connection, not signal in general. 1xRTT is not represented in the stats if my hypothesis is correct
All 3, the OP, JC, and Me all were connected to WiFi constantly when it occurs

I was trying to install a new kernel for my Epic 4g so I could possibly upgrade or get rid of the ****ty theme that came with the phone I bought on ebay. Whilst doing so through Odin I believe it said Failed and now my phone won't boot into any mode.
Is there any hope for this phone or anyway I can take it to a sprint dealer and possibly con them into getting a replacement?
Have you tried battery cpr? Leaving it plugged in holding the buttons for download mode(1 and the power button) and popping in and out the battery?
Get a better cable that's probably why it failed. Also huh? Flashing a new kernel for a new theme??? Makes no sense bro speak some english

Any suggestions what I can do? I have TEP so I was thinking of just taking it in.

Remove the battery and SD then replug into your PC and reboot download mode. The reason people brick like this is repartitioning with only a kernel or checking bootloader.

omg. I was about to head out to Sprint when I tried for the 99th time to put it in download mode. and it popped up! (battery only)
I thought for sure this thing was dead. How is this possible if I was doing the EXACT same thing repeatedly, eventually it works?
It appears to be some type of reset that takes place and sometimes only letting it sit for awhile will fix it. This is why some people think the magic button works.

You removed the param among other things. This caused key combinations to not render if a normal boot started. The one time it did work it was a direct boot into download mode. (I have no idea about my theory and am talking out of my @$$.) Your phone also could have been low on power.

Hah! Maybe the "battery CPR" actually did something. I tried so many times between last night and today and finally after a long session of battery CPR, I let it sit for ~15 minutes, then tried -> No battery, connect USB, download mode: NOTHING -> Disconnect USB, replace battery, download mode: SUCCESS!
Very strange.

I found the best battery life on a job ROM for me is the aosp release from sbrissen. You can find bit in the android original development thread. But if you don't want to be on an aosp ROM you can try paranoid android. Tons of customization capabilities and a half decent battery life. Also if you can figure bout the DPI setting on the cna jelly ride ROM, its pretty decent too. I found that the pegasusq governor does a little better than the ondemand governor that comes preselected.
Agreed sbrissens build is the best battery life from my personal experience
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2
Sbrissen's AOSP build will get me a consistent average of 16 hours per charge.
Occasionally I will get more than 24 hours with low use and data mostly off.

Which extended battery are you using and how long have you been using the extended? From some of the other threads some people say the extended batteries go down hill rather fast. Quite possibly. I'll uninstall it. I also get relatively poor reception in two areas but I put my phone on flight mode while I'm there so I can't blame that. I'll get Greenify but I'm not adept enough to use it too well lol. Thanks for the input. Hopefully it's better tomorrow. I'd send my phone to LG for a battery replacement (after restoring to stock of course) but my friend sent his and it took him 3 weeks to get it back.
Like I said in the other JB battery life thread. Signal levels aside, it takes a couple days before a newly flashed kernel/ROM/Update "settles in". Give it a couple days of normal use and then start looking at your battery life.

Give it a few days, if not then factory reset and put your applications back slowly so you can see when your battery drops the most and if it is an app that triggers it. Or like Loki said, could be signal related.

Did you restart the device or did it randomly reboot or something? That space in your battery time then sudden drop is always when the device reboots. Your battery shouldn't have dropped that much though.

Did great maintaining charge today, just got on jb 2 days ago so im satisfied for now, im alil battery ocd too, was not happy with stock lgogs battery holding power. Also very light use today, 50mins screen on time just web surfing mostly.
I have qualcomm battery guru installed in learning mode atm. My belief is if i can keep constant background syncing from going on my battery will hold fine sumthing i figured battery guru handled without needing learn mode. Idk...
My battery maitnence has always been turning 3g on and off manually since it connects so quickly.
Since im rooted now i redownloaded cputuner on this phone and turned background sync off on there regardless if screens off or on now and it seems to handle idle time very well tho its probably too soon to know wuts helping if anything.
Also my screen seems to b back on top for battery consumption, in zv9 my android os percentages were 40-60% regularly and screen on was maybe 20-30%, maybe our old os was running alil hot.
Still got 46% to go and I'm connected to the interwebs at all times and my job has ****ty reception so I turn it off when I remember

TWRP sucks the life out of your battery. Explains the drop.

Just updated to 20e on H812. Battery drain is really high and phone is hot when not in use too.
Everything is stock, I can't root it anyway.
Looked at Apps but can't find anything draining battery that much.
Any suggestions?
I tried 2 factory resets.

factory reset?
I tried it twice. Are you not seeing this?

First 3 digits of your serial# ?
I have the same problem. H810 here. Updated to MM, factory reset, even gave it a couple of weeks to settle in. I usually unplug around 8am and go to work. Usually a few text messages and emails, but not much use. Sometimes I'll pick it up around noon, after not really using it at all, and it'll be hot, and down to about 30% battery. I used to make it through the day no problem. Now it would take me 3 batteries to make it usually.

Yah., me too.
it's really bad after the update.
hope they update it soon again., I even try to switch my provider for some better signal., got better.
but still worse than before. also how much RAM is consumed by MM ?
mine is around 2 - 2,1 Gig.
it's more than before.
I have a 601.
Yes more ram usage then before but my phone runs better then on LL. It's faster but battery drain in terrible.
Are you guys on 20e that are having the issue?

I had this a while ago, i fixed it with disabling fast dormancy.
Go to the hidden menu, type *#546368#*812#
Then go to field test>Modem settings>PDP setting>0 and sellect fast dormancy off.
Reboot phone and you should be fine
Worked for me, check for urself

I would be fine with that. I got that on LL but the standby time was much better then now. So far device is not warm, thanks for the tip.

So what does fast dormancy do? What is the effect of disabling it?

I'm not entirely sure. It has something to do with keeping ur mobile data on even when ur mobile doesn't need it, so to next time u go browsing or something it won't have to turn on again.
Pretty vague ****, google it if u really want to figure it out.
As far as i know, my carrier doesn't even support it
I noticed no effect in disabling fast dormancy on performance.
It had a huge effect on my battery though.

Thanks. I googled it after I posted the question yesterday. For those that are interested, a good summary of it can be found here: //androidforums.com/threads/fast-dormancy-in-a-nutshell.674208/

Hey I have to say this has helped quite a bit. Thanks you for the tip. I'm at 25% after 10 hours use. I could not get this before. Might not be as good as LL but its better.
