I have a feeling its the Qualcomm app. I had this same issue on ICS and uninstalled it and been fine since.

Quite possibly. I'll uninstall it. I also get relatively poor reception in two areas but I put my phone on flight mode while I'm there so I can't blame that. I'll get Greenify but I'm not adept enough to use it too well lol. Thanks for the input. Hopefully it's better tomorrow. I'd send my phone to LG for a battery replacement (after restoring to stock of course) but my friend sent his and it took him 3 weeks to get it back.

Like I said in the other JB battery life thread. Signal levels aside, it takes a couple days before a newly flashed kernel/ROM/Update "settles in". Give it a couple days of normal use and then start looking at your battery life.

Thanks in advance

So... Lol. I un installed the app too. Sucks to be me

Give it a few days, if not then factory reset and put your applications back slowly so you can see when your battery drops the most and if it is an app that triggers it. Or like Loki said, could be signal related.

Did you restart the device or did it randomly reboot or something? That space in your battery time then sudden drop is always when the device reboots. Your battery shouldn't have dropped that much though.

Screw wiping just wait for a custom kernel I bet that'll fix it. Battery was so so for me on ICS til I put jokers kernel so I'm guessing it's be the same case with jb

I find that watchdog and better battery stats help alot to find out what is killing your battery.

seems to b better over time
Did great maintaining charge today, just got on jb 2 days ago so im satisfied for now, im alil battery ocd too, was not happy with stock lgogs battery holding power. Also very light use today, 50mins screen on time just web surfing mostly.
I have qualcomm battery guru installed in learning mode atm. My belief is if i can keep constant background syncing from going on my battery will hold fine sumthing i figured battery guru handled without needing learn mode. Idk...
My battery maitnence has always been turning 3g on and off manually since it connects so quickly.
Since im rooted now i redownloaded cputuner on this phone and turned background sync off on there regardless if screens off or on now and it seems to handle idle time very well tho its probably too soon to know wuts helping if anything.
Also my screen seems to b back on top for battery consumption, in zv9 my android os percentages were 40-60% regularly and screen on was maybe 20-30%, maybe our old os was running alil hot.

Still got 46% to go and I'm connected to the interwebs at all times and my job has ****ty reception so I turn it off when I remember

Woops didn't see. Edited.
That's really bad then because he's just on EVDO (3G), not even on LTE assumedly.
We need to see his awake/screen on times. He's probably got some wakelock problems (at least).

Yeah my battery drains super fast when only on 3g. Nothing else running. When i try to actually use it like my last phone the thing drains like crazy. Tried both cm and stock. And diff kernels. I let my battery die and charge it fully over 5 times already. Another thing I noticed. I went to bed with 93% I wake up 8 hrs later. And its drained half way. Mind u its not even being used. I'm confused. the GSM g nex I used to have before used to last over 24 hours for me all the time no problem. If its the same phone. Why are the results so different. Its a huge difference. I find myself having to turn my phone off for a couple hours just so it can last thru my work day without dying on me.
Can it be the 3g that's making it drain so fast? What makes me believe this is when I am on 3g the top part of the back of the phone gets extremely hot. But when I'm on wifi. Its cooler than the other side of the pillow.

No. It is something else on your device, or you have it on CDMA/LTE and it is straining for a signal.

Hmm. That mustve been it. I just checked and it was in lte CDma but its funny because I changed it to cdma only before. But I guess it must be going to lte cdma by default every time I flash a new rom and I assumed it would stay in cdma by default. Thanks for reminding me about that. Completely forgot. New to Cdma been GSM for a long time. Hopefully I see a difference in battery life.

If a post drains 5%, you have issues or need to type faster, by about an hour.
Or how about some heavy Temple Run play while on LTE in a fringe area that drops it a lot? Standard battery overclocked to 1.35ghz at standard voltage. No undervolting at all.
would you mind sharing rom/kernel set up
BAMF Paradigm, kernel and rom.
The repos are on IMM76I, but current release is on IMM76D.
IMM76I is just a kernel change for GSM users anyway.
The kernel is nothing special and has no battery saving qualities over stock though.
I'm getting better battery life now somehow

1.5 hour battery life

Battery life goes down 1% every minute the screen is on... This is rediculous. I'm running the latest franco kernel + liquid rom.
Uhhh cool story? Use your phone an entire day and post your battery stats when you're at < 5% battery left. Then we can talk about your actual battery life...
Let me bite this troll bait.
I'm sure this phone doesn't last 1.5hours, i'm sure mine doesn't.
@OP that's prolly why the guy sold it
good day.
You should be getting around 4 hours of screen on time, try different kernels if you don't achieve near this. I get 5+ hours everyday usign my set up, just look around at countless other thread to get an idea of what you can do.

Mine is and I'll fess up that this is pretty accurate. I can get about 4 hours screen-on time with my 3800mAh extended battery. The 2100mAh extended battery gets me about an hour screen on over the course of a day.

Which kernels besides franco give good battery life?
If you're getting 1.5 hours battery life then you're NOT using your phone, period. This is a smart phone, if you can manager more than 1 hour then you probably should have kept your StarTAC.
Edit: read a few more posts, wasn't troll bait it turns out.
As someone mentioned earlier in the thread, wakelocks are one avenue to explore. Install Better Battery Stats and follow the instructions/procedures, etc... from its thread here on XDA.

If you are on 3g/4g and a verizon nexus on stock battery...2 hrs screen time is normal. Get used to it. Sorry. My wife's on stock 4.0.2 does exactly that. Pathetic. We bought an extended battery. Still might get in the 4 hour range. I love the nexus but damn the battery is terrible. I get 6-7 hrs screen on time on my maxx using 3g/4g. Today she got close to 4 hrs but it was a 4g/Wi-Fi mix.
Verizon nexus on 3g gets around 2 hrs screen on time if you actually are using data and keeping everything synced like a smartphone should be able to do.

Gsm gnex (europe) on 4.0.4 gives between 4-5 h screen-ON time on stock setup and 1750mAh battery. Way to go verizon and LTE for ruining the phone's reputation. Most of the people reporting issues here on the forums are verizon or sprint users.

Jellybean batt life observation

Seems jb batt life is pretty bad. 2%/hr idle. Alot of wake locks also from maps and networklocator. :Im assuming all from google now?
Noticed that over the last 24 hours battery life was worse than usual while I was on jellybean. Think you are probably right that Google now is the culprit, I really hope that it gets better before the ota but at the moment it just doesn't seem like it will be worth "upgrading".

Well, it must be Google Now. I turned it off and my battery is relatively the same as it was before. When using background location update, you can expect it to drain battery a little. Google Now uses your location data quite a bit.

I'm getting pretty good batterylife with JB. Over 10 hours on battery and over 3 hours of screentime and I still got 40% left with 2000mah oem battery.
I have yet to flash JB, but one thing concerns me. Is this not just a dev preview and not the final product that will be pushed out mid-July? Not to sound harsh, but I don't see why complaints are being made about battery life at this stage of JB. Just my 2 cents, fyi...

My battery life over the ~12 hours i had jelly installed seemed the same. Good standvy times also. I think it will depend on how much of the new stuff google added you use that will determine battery life. Some of that stuff will make a big impact.

If you are getting bad battery life and wake issues, check your apps. I've heard LightFlow was causing wakelocks b/c it isn't optimzied for JB yet. I've deleted it until they can get it updated. So far, my battery life hasn't been great b/c I can't keep my hands off of it
Yeah, I would agree that battery life seems pretty good. It seems a little worse on Franco.kernel than stock, but hey, it's a new kernel and he is still trying to get all the kinks worked out. Also, no wakelocks on Light Flow, but I hope they update it soon, lots of my notifications stopped working.
Ehh I don't think its terrible at 2% an hour. Better than 10% an hour. I'll take a little drain for the beauty of JB
Sent from my JellyBelly Gnex
IMO I think it's draining a little fast, but I think that's because I keep flashing kernels and add-ons which reboots and causes the battery to drain super fast... and I've been messing with apps a lot too. So I'm gonna give it another day or two for a definitive answer.

I don't understand what people expect??? They want to have an awesome huge screen, fast processor, 4G speeds, want to run apps like crazy and then have Google Now constantly updating and expect the battery to last all day?? People just need to be realistic!
I'm completely stock and my battery is almost the same. Think it's a bit early to tell yet, we've all been playing more with the new rom
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I am under the impression that the drain is slightly higher than on ICS, I am now 5,5 hours after charging, with 88% left (and a screen time of 18mins). On ICS I would be around 90 to 93% (with the 2000mAh battery). But nothing really to worry about.
Having said that, I did have lightflow installed and it did show in the wakelock screen, so I uninstalled that to see if the next charge gives me even better endurance.

My battery has become worthless

I'm on stock rooted ics fh13. I have flashed to cm9 and then back. And it seems like since flashing other roms my battery isn't where it used to be. Even if weeks have past. Also I make sure the display is on the dimmest setting

Have you done the battery test? (Pull battery, lay on table.. spin.. if it spins like a top .. Replace!! , test on both sides) Battery do start to go bad over time. Also can download BestBattery Stats, See what's keeping your phone awake. (Things like Facebook notifications, email sync times, even the LED notification light) will greatly decrease battery life no matter what rom your on. How much screen on time did you have (Didn't see that in the screen shot) Thanks.
probably like 40mins screen time. Facebook refresh is set to 'never' with notifications. Obviously i have direct push emails and things, otherwise what the hells the point of having the phone for email.
Why does it look like i have no mobile signal. I know in the past i would get the LoS and my phone would drain like crazy. But normally i wouldnt receive or sent txts during that time. I was receiving txts during this time. Basically grabbed my phone and sat on a train with it - no different then day 1 i got the phone.

I agree with the push email, I typically set mine to 4 hours or so (i can always open the app if i need to check it again) , are you in a low signal area? I know traveling sometimes will cause signal to jump (mine does 3 times atleast in my 40 min commute to work) Does look like your signal was gone for a bit.. (Could try a different Modem as well see if it helps in your area)
That looks like a bad battery... Even with bad signal your battery shouldn't be creeping that low so quick

It sounds like you guys are sure it is a bad battery, but do you think it could have something to do with the fact you are running ICS? Is it updated? I know that they put a firmware update out that was supposed to help with the ICS battery issue. Did you get it? Because Stock ICS had horrendous battery life to begin with.

people with bad battery life usually should just calibrate it! what happens most time is just that the battery percentage is just not being read correctly by the system!

Is this a hardware battery failure?

Hey folks,
I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this. I typically know what I'm doing, but my old GNex is acting VERY strangely. I gave it to my finance to use since I now have a Nexus 4 for myself (selfish, right?).
The first week she used it, it was just fine. The last few days, though, the battery has been absolutely tanking. And I'm at a loss for words. I've tried re-calibration, factory restoring it with stock images, running stock / Franco kernels, nothing helps. And it's deep sleeping just fine! See the images below.
Am I looking at a possible battery failure? I want to rule out everything else before I spend money on replacing it. The phone isn't even that old though... it was already an RMA replacement, so the battery is barely 3-4 months old. It should not have failed yet, but that would be my luck.

Edit: I can get other examples if need be. She's had under 5-10 minutes maximum of screen on time and seen it go from 100% to 0% in under 5 hours in at least one instance. We live in a great HSPA+ signal area (I had use 2g only checked the day I took these just to try it), so that's not it. And it's getting 90%+ time in deep sleep. I'm absolutely baffled!
new battery is not that much $$$, and nothing wrong with 2, or if you know anyone that has a gnex pop there batt in and see

Nope, I don't know anyone else around here with a GSM non-Verizon one. I know batteries are cheap, but I'm extremely broke
where do you live?

If you tried with a stock rom with the minimum apps installed you have the answer. It's not kernel/rom/app related, the last thing you can do is try a new battery, as you have discarded everything else I think it could be the problem.
Best regards.

Thanks.
I even tried doing a factory reset and not even signing in to a Google account. I let it sit there 100% stock, syncing to nothing with the screen off, and it dropped about 40% in 2 hours. This is so frustrating.

Has this been resolved? I am having the same exact issue... I have also tried everything and definitely need help. I even bought a new battery thinking it would help and i am having the same issue with the new battery.

ARGH. Nope! My new battery came in two days ago and it's having the same exact issue still. I'm at a loss for words at this point.
Yours is significantly better then mine at least. It's dead in under 20-30 minutes of screen on time in a perfect signal area.
Any advice?

Ahhhhhhh... This is horrible. My last resort is to unroot but i have the NTT DoCoMo version of the gnex and I'm afraid it'll lock back up. I'm thinking i might buy one of those huge extended batteries from eBay or just get the nexus 4. This is a bummer. At least we're not alone haha

Don't bother unrooting. I tried doing a full factory restore with no luck.
