Is there a mobile optimized/stripped down version of this site available for viewing on a mobile device? If so how do I access/toggle the mobile version?
Thanks

Thanks.
I wish there was a way to sort the archive by last updated date instead of post number.
mikechannon, that's great! but all the email notifications are coming with full version of the forum. So it is not possible to track the forum via PDA in "one click".
Is it really too hard to add lite style of the board?

I didn't know this was there. Great! Thanks.
This is a great resource. I think many others would use it if they knew it existed -- especially with the increasing number of members with unlimited data access. There should be a link at the top and/or bottom of all pages to the "Mobile Version" of this site.
The sort order seems very weird. Some of the first threads listed haven't been touched since mid-2007... and there's no way to find the most recent/active threads except to open each thread and check the last (bottom-most) post date. None of the listed threads correspond to the forum thread list order of the standard site.
Also, is there a way to activate hyperlinks within the posts?
vBulletin has a mobile skin in beta according to http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=174375. Might this be useful?
Cheers,

A "view mobile version" link at the top of the normal page would be a BIG help.
The admin is working on a new Skin that "will last for a long time to come", hopefully this will include better support for Mobile browsers.
Personally, I use Opera Mini and have no problems browsing this site, except the 1st Login, which requires a Manual Page refresh.

anything ever come of the mobile skin? archive is better than nothing, but leaves a lot to be desired.

On my profile I want my location to show up...how do I do this?? Not a noob when it comes to forums but I have looked all over! Tried searching but my terms were too generic no matter what I put in (plus I'm lazy). Can anyone help me with this?
There still seems to be a bug in the forum software. Normally you should be able to configure this in your UserCP (User Control Panel), but the menu entry for this group of settings does not show up anymore.
But you can use this link directly in order to adapt your settings.

you are abusing others will and ability to help
the fact that you are lazy isn't justifying that
in few last days there were about 6 threads about changing location
so get your lazy ass up and read
Whatever dude, I looked and did search. Maybe they should fix this bug and no one would have to ask. Oh and thank you Foo.

HI I was going to open a new thread about this. But fortunately i opened this thread. Thanks for the info.
Looks like this can be done without magic links.
At the top of the Forum Click "Quick Links" > "Edit your details".
Thanks

Is there any way to have show/hide tags such as
Spoiler
text
, to have a block of text hidden until you click on it?

I'd like something like this for my guide so it doesn't show all sections at once. That way the person can choose to show only the section they're working on.
Does this exist on these forums?
If not, can the site admin consider adding it?
Also, is there a way to "hack" this in via the [ HTML ] tags?
Not at the moment. Something like this maybe in vB4 when we upgrade.
Spoiler tags seems a bit hacky, the admin's might consider if there is something a bit more user friendly or fit for purpose.
Collapsing information seems the wrong way to do it. I think a navigation (contents page) that allows quick thread navigation without opening in a new window / tab would be better.
Dave
Doh, that's too bad.
I'm not sure what you mean by a contents page? Splitting up one post into several, may make things a bit more hectic?

Like the contents page on Media Wiki pages : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agile_software_development
In my experience, so long as the posts are sequential and the OP has the ingenuity to disable their sig until the last post, it's not too bad.
Dave
Ah I see.
What if you only have the first post in a thread?
It's too late for me

Post less? (j/k)
I was thinking about linking inside a thread. HTML allows Anchor / Name tags to do this. A way of building a contents page could be handy.
So the contents could have:
Post 1
- Part 1
- Part 2
Post 2
-Part 3
etc. etc.
It might just be a dream though : http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?p=2031310
Dave
I also think that this would be a good idea. For example, a rom developer could hide the changelog, todo list, Q&A, etc leaving the first post much less cluttered and simpler to navigate, but still displaying the same ammount of information. I know how to use anchors and links with HTML, but I don't really know if most people know all the code, and it would be more complicated. For example, just a single link to an anchor named banana would be Link to banana. It would be much simpler to just use a
Spoiler
tag.

Yes, another excellent idea!
A collapsible tag could be useful in so many situations!
Here's another possible use: signatures. Almost everyone has a list of the phones they have, current rom, radio, spl, recovery, mods, themes, etc. We could literally change 5-10 lines of text to a single "show" button on every single post on every forum. I have no idea how much work it would take to implement this, but it would really be a kickass idea.
Hi everyone,
i know this is a pretty old topic, but i wanted to know if it is meanwhile possible to build a "spoiler"?
i wanted to post a logcat-log but its like 100+ strings long so it would be pretty nice to make this information collapsable to keep threads clear.
thanks in advance

You could use a
Code:
box.
Sorry for also resurrecting an old thread but I too would love a collapsible tag.
As with the OP, I think it would be a real boon to writing guides.
I have a multi-part guide I'm working on/maintaining for the Arc but for each part of it, I'd love to be able to have it split into independently-expandable sections, it would make it so much easier to divide it up clearly and to hide necessary but lesser-used information.
spoiler tag in the forum
any progress on a collapsible tag?
Spoiler
at the end of 2011 ...
if it would work, you would not see this msg, unless you click on it

It is already, especially in some dev threads where people post full logcats
Also, in one thread, I had posted a complete diff between two kernel versions, so implementation if this in the app would also be awesome(although you'll have to talk to tapatalk guys, hope they understand)

That freakin thread is so confusing, I don't see how it's easier than mine...
[BUILD] **Complete Froyo Bundle!!** FRX06 - "Stable" - Minor Fixes - get it straight from the horses mouth!
That other thread covers a lot of other topics, which isn't bad... it's just kinda confusing IMHO!

Yes, but my thread is very to-the-point. Not saying your thread is useless, just not the first thing a newbie should see IMHO. Once they work thru my thread, yours would be a good one to look at... assuming they actually read my thread or yours at all.
This isn't a thread battle, and Arrrghhh,i've not suggested your thread because your thread isn't for newbies and covers less topics
But i'll add it to my post
Is it possible to install a full blown rooted Android rom on the Rhodium? Thanks

I wasn't particularly eager to install xdandroid (even though I was excited about the concept) until I read ryannathans' thread. Granted it isn't organized well, but it doesn't assume knowledge that isn't there, which makes it ideal for the type of noob that will read.

Both XDAndroid builds are rooted - do you mean replacing WinMo? It's possible, but not stable. Doesn't play nice at all with GSM devices, and it's not easy/simple on CDMA ones.
See
NAND Testing - 05-25 Update: New LK, Recovery.img, Kernel Updates through Recovery if you want to know moar.

I don't see the point, everything I needed was in ryan's thread. They serve different purposes. You seem to mostly be focused on FRX06, getting people onto that entry level stable build. You mention kernels and the new rootfs in your thread, leaving someone like me to wonder WTF is a rootfs and kernel? Ryan fills in the blanks and focuses on getting people who don't know squat to FRX6.5, and gives us just enough info to understand the threads he links to. There's no reason for you to duplicate that.
I haven't been on XDA for many months but I'm sure there used to be a "Printable Version" option somewhere for forum posts. I've looked at half a dozen posts this morning but haven't been able to find anything.
In the FAQ (https://forum.xda-developers.com/faq.php?s=&do=search&q=printable&match=all&titlesonly=0) I found a mention of it under Thread Tools but I either I'm blind or it's vanished.
"At the top of each thread, there is a link called 'Thread Tools'. By clicking on this link, a menu will appear with a number of options:
Show Printable Version - this will show you a page with the thread post content in a reduced graphics format that is more 'printer friendly'."
Please tell me I'm just being blind and dumb and point me to where I should be looking!
Thanks in advance

The 2010 site theme has thread tools. 2013 beta has a print button, and I'm not sure it's an option on other themes. Perhaps it was abandoned, since most browsers have their own print options.
Hope that helps!

Thanks for taking the time to reply Darth. I'm guessing it might have something to do with the option of removing ads (which is certainly new to me) but completely understandable. There used to be a "simplify" version when printing via chrome but seems google have removed that on version 49.0.2623.112 (yes, I own up to being a guilty XP user) and selecting comes out all squwif. As I don't have internet at home I print off the long forums with several hundred posts to read later on .

You could attempt switching to 2010 theme to see if it does what you want when you want to print. Then switch back to your preferred theme otherwise.
Just a thought.
