I bought into the whole "Samsung radios suck" thing. I have a Photon in hand, and the bottom line is that its performing in nearly the exact same manner as the E4GT as far as reception. Im looking at the numbers, and Im not really impressed. Consider some dead areas which I attributed to the E4GT's "bad radio"....I still cannot pull data with the Photon. The Photon may have slightly better reception - but in real world applications, I dont think it warrents switching units.
So if Im not getting better reception, what am I getting? A smaller screen, terrible ergonomics (button placement, usb input placement), locked boot loader (broken 4G if unlock), quiet dev forum, some lag here and there in the menus, oh and yes the sleep of death! Not to mention the latest OTA is perpetually failing to install. The camera isnt close to as good as the touch either.
What I do like: I wish the E4GT had a kickstand. I also like the high res of the Photon's screen, looks very crisp. The BLUR SMS is also better than Touchwiz too, if you ask me.
I dont know....The Photon isnt really a terrible phone. But, consider my statements before you jump ship. I am going to have Sprint switch my service back to my E4GT. I understand that the E4GT has issues, and Samsung does too....but using both of these phones back to back I just cant let go of the touch.
Thoughts?
I agree with you more or less, and yea the higher res on the photon would have been great on the touch. The screen on the touch is nicer for scrolling, but the whites are not white, they are an off white as to the photon's white was a bright clear white.
reception, I feel both are about the same with the photon tending to "hold" the signal a bit better. The touches signal bar is misleading but so far my call ability has been decent, but not photon decent.
My main reason for switching was the photon I had would clock up the cell radio and no way to recover till a reboot was performed. It was so bad that it happened several times a day. Missed tons of calls and txt and decided enough was enough. So here I am sporting the SGS2 and I must admit the screen res and whiteness is the only thing that I can pick on so far.
The OTA will fail if you've any changes to the system files. That what sucks with the Motor updates.

^^ fully agree!!!!
I will tell you, I had photon for a month, then
E4GT since launch and the radios on everything work better, even bluetooth.
I did a shoot out with my buddies photon same area, I had much better throughput than his. Calls just as clear. Gps works better cause on the photon the market got offtrack while ET4G didn't, plus speed and reception of gps it won.
So I don't give into that 'better radio' hype

I still thinking Samy cdma radios sucks, just look the past with samsung moment, epic, nexus s 4G and ET4G bc it has a radio problems too. And to make the things worst, how slow is samsung to fix problems.

after a slight adventure out in to the world of mobile providers before coming back to sprint i think i have to agree with this.
i found at&t and verizon are too expensive and t-mobile seems to be almost non-existent. so you have sprint in that sweet middle spot amassing people exponentially.
i have also learned that almost all prepaid carriers android phones run on sprint towers? crazy right? if you ever wondered why you don't get amazing speeds, this could be a reason. they whore their towers out to pretty much everyone.

Hi guys...
i usually lurk over at the hd2 forums as ive been running american droid on my hd2 with much satisfaction. finally decided to buy a native android phone and signed up with sprint. bought a evo 4g and an epic 4g.
firstly, let tell you guys that their coverage map is a joke! says that im well covered by 4g. i cant even get a signal while standing outside. pathetic.
anyway. my data speed out of the box was something like 10kbps download, it was horrible!! but oddly enough the epic was flying along at about 300kbps!!?? called customer support and they walked me through steps that didnt help at all. went to sprints repair store the next day, they danced the dance and finally concluded that the phone was defective after PRL updates, reboots, what all and to ask for a replacement. (bought it from amazon wireless).
while there i thought id ask for the MSL. lady asked why? said i knew of some very clever folks on the internet that may be able to help me out. she shrugged me off as if she knew better and although hesitant, gave the number to me.
i came home and did the "fix" as noted here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=922978
and now im getting speeds of 400-500 download.
so here comes the sticky question... is this slow data bug only a evo 4g problem or does it affect all sprint phones? (didnt affect the epic 4g)
should i ask for a replacement? is this a phone specific problem or a general evo 4g problem?
should i send int he evo 4g and settle for a 2nd epic 4g if its more reliable? (does come better kitted though... 16 gb memory card, a really decent pair of ear buds. i dont particularly care for hardware keyboard though)
appreciate any and all help guys.
regards,
asmd.
Welcome to the club of ****ty download speeds. No matter what prl I've tried or hack 3G and 4G(area related) are just jokes. The problem could be HTC related but I find it odd yet possible that your epic gets faster speeds. I also find it strange that they said the phone could be defective lol. If you're into changing roms like a madman then the evo will have more development than the epic(still a great phone). It would be your call if you would want to exchange it for another but I doubt getting a new one will help.
Epic does have better screen and gpu than the evo.
thanks for the reply... heres the odd thing though. they did the "caveman" speedtest by putting several evos from the store next to mine and hit enter in the borwser to make them load identical pages simultaneously and mine was the only one that sucked.
@ dirkyd3rk - so this slow download thing is a evo 4g problem then? (and doesnt affect the epic 4g?)
Crappy data speeds seem to be isolated incidents here. It happens to quite a few people but not enough for it to be a problem that we all possess. I myself get excellent 4g signal and I'm on the edge of a 4g spot and my 3g speed is moderately good (about what your epic gets, give or take).
If you fixed your 3g speeds on the Evo, then I suggest keeping that Evo. You've already fixed the problem, there's no need to go out and get another one that you might have to fix again.
I have a friend with an Epic and I still like the Evo more. The Epic has a better GPU and screen, but the Evo has WAY more developer support (here on XDA) and better features. He schools me on benchmarks, but I can run Gingerbread with 3 different kinds of sense (1.0, 2.1, 3.0/2.1 hybrid from Virus) and he can barely run stable Froyo. We've got so many stable Froyo roms, a flashaholic like myself has to flash multiple times a week to try them all.
Lastly, I've heard that Sprint service in heavily populated areas is rather sketchy. I live in a suburb and get great speeds, but downtown I can't keep a 4g signal to save my life and my 3g speeds blow ass. I couldn't even get a steady GPS reading to check into a place of foursquare. Left downtown and all was well again. If you still have the problem, go ahead and get the replacement (and make sure to remove any evidence that you did anything fun with it )
In the end it's up to you. The people over in the Epic forums are cool, but we here in the Evo forums are cooler lol.
thanks for the reply,
will toy with it and decide. getting a replacement is going to cost me nothing. may just try it and chooses from the two to keep.
been playing with the epic as well. it doesnt feel as robust in my hand. it may have a better processor, but not in any real world advantage. and the screen is real nice but a little too super saturated. i do like the black levels though. since i have both i can compare and contrast all day long.

The epic is barely better in terms of specs but it has an amoled screen which is way better than the evo's. Me personally, I love my evo and couldn't imagine having another phone. My main problem with the epic is that it feels plastic as compared to the evo which feels solid. Maybe your phone could be defective I wouldn't be surprised based on the **** I've seen lol. I know you will make your own decision but I'd suggest the evo before anything else from sprint's lineup.
btw which one has a better battery life?

I've heard the epic does but it all depends on how one uses their phone. I get about 11 hours a day but I'm a very HEAVY user. Others on the forums can get anywhere from 15 hrs to about 32 hrs.

With the right kernel/rom combo you can actually get extremely good battery life.
With a normal day's use (a couple hundred texts, a couple phone calls, etc), I've gotten results like this:

That's MikFroYo 4.61 with Netarchy's 4.3.4 SBC-CFS-Havs-More kernel.

thanks for the replies mate.
if im understanbding this right, only some but not all evo 4g have the data speed problem and its correctable with the fix i did (although not permanent and has to be redone on occasion)
and here i was thinking i could walk away from the hd2 to its sexier twin without hassles. ha ha....
yeah, will probably stick with the evo 4g. 3d doesnt bother me, and super amoled is not a deal breaker for me. its a nice screen but its not that much nicer.
ive noticed that the epic suspends 4g when not in use as seen int he "Zzzz" symbol, does the evo 4g do this as well.. ive yet to see it.

Nope lol, the evo 4G signal will continue to scan and drain your battery if you don't turn it off. You can thank HTC for that
Hello,
I have the EVO 3D currently and I have real issues with signal and call quality even though all my previous sprint phones have been HTC phones - going back to their first WM phone and none had this problem.
I would really like feedback from someone who had the EVO 3D and DID notice call quality issues and signal quality issues - is the Epic Touch 4G better?
Any other things you notice - battery life, download speeds?

Thanks - that is the sort of info I'm looking for. Not everyone said they had an issue with signal - I've had 3 3Ds - all have signal and voice quality issues - same with people I know but for some reason some don't believe their 3D phones have an issue so I'd like to get feedback from people who are familiar with the issue.
If I get a few more confirmations that it is better, I'll give it a try myself. I'm past my 30 days so I'll spend a wad o' cash to upgrade from the 3D but if it solves the crappy reception issues and call quality it will be worth the investment.

Thanks - this may sound strange but did you get people asking you to repeat yourself on the 3D? I'm not sure if the choppy call quality was due to the signal or something else but I had to repeat myself for callers on a regular basis. I didn't notice it much on my end but I got a lot of that when I switched to the 3D from my old phone.
some calls were fine.. but then other times it pissed me off cuz i really had to tune in my ears because i had a damm hard time understanding what the hell they were saying.. like the garbleling crap or what eva u call it.. and i travel on train bout an hour each way to work and always surfing on the phone and i notice that theres a few spots commuting that i have very weak signal to practically nothing whereas the Evo 4g neva had that issues at all in those spots... really unfortunate to have this when i was a loyal htc and evo fan

Thanks for the feedback - if you do get the Epic, please post your opinion on call/signal quality. I don't want to be a sissy boy but I also don't want to jump in like I did with the 3D and get burned on another bum phone. I was travelling when my 30 days was up and missed out on returning it even though I did trade it in twice thinking I might have gotten a defective one.
So far my first phone call was real Crisp sounding compared to my Dads EVO 4G. The Speakerphone sounds clear with no speaker abrasive vibrations coming from it like the EVO does. then I tried in my Car speakerphone freeway driving and that wasnt as good as other people claimed it to be for my experience. the Floor Ceiling Volume is not that much better than a Touch Pro 2. I could barely hear it in my 93 Civic from the tire noise (I guess my cars road feedback ground noise is LOUD). My dad said he could hear alot of background noise that was not so cool to hear to him. So with out the noise cancelling mic on this device that might not be up to par.
I dont have an EVO 3D or a Photon to compare it too, but I can tell you the Corporate Sprint Store Reps were all obligining to trade in their Photons and EVO 3D's for this BEAST. That really tells you something when the employees are changing their minds.
---------- Post added at 02:56 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:51 AM ----------
The only Phones I could ever claim that have the Best Speaker phones with highest volumes were the NEXTELS especially my i880. all my Motorola Nextels. Since I dont have a Photon to see if Motorola is still living to their name for having the best Speaker Phones of the whole Market. Even my friends Motorola Blackberry wannabe, I forget the model name of it? his had the same HIGH floor ceiling level volume CRISP sounding Speaker phone in his phone from 1. years ago.
I know why Motorola has the best speaker phones is they own the Patents on the speaker phones and the CDMA radio technology.
My call quality seems okay, but I'm having data issues that get on my nerves. My ET won't work in places where my EVO 4G did, and it
s annoying. I'm talking about standing in line at the grocery store, downloading an app taking forever with 1 bar. Not cool.
But voice though, voice sounds pretty good, no one has complained to me....yet.

THanks - I definitely want to hear both the positive and the negative. That sucks about the data which is important to me but I have to say the voice is by far the most important part of the phone. I had problems today with my data as well on my EVO 3D. Data was never impressive to me on the 3D but today is worse, I'm wondering if they are doing that evdo rev b upgrade on the towers in my area they mentioned.
I know people with the EVO 4G and they never had issues with voice quality that I know of so I'm really trying to focus on a comparison of voice between the 3D and the ET.
Anyone else jumped from the 3D to the ET4G because of signal/call quality? If so, is the ET4G any better?

When I played with the phone in a sprint store, the signal strength was roughly the same - it fluctuated between -83-91 dB on both phones side by side.
ET hold call and has better voice quality than EVO 3D but data speed where they have full bar, EVO 3D is way ahead ET, at Sprint store I ran couple speed tests, ET dl around 1.1 where EVO 3D round 1.8
Bottom line, if you like me, live where Sprint has sh!tty signal, ET is better..
I will test this tonight at work. In my office i got 3g with 1 to 2 bars with my og Evo. My 3d was 1 bar but would switch to 1x 95 percent of the time. Tonight i go back from my weekend and will give my results with the GS2. I love this phone either way though lol. Calls from home have been on par with the 3d. Maybe slightly better reception.

You won't need to, you can over/under clock/volt the stock kernel all you want with tegrak
I had the moment, nexus s, I tried epic 4g and the ET 4g and all the have the same problem, never fixed for the moment and some fixing for the nexus s so I just wait for the fix first and if it works ......... I will never buy a samsung again. never.
Buy the Epic Touch. Just bought my fiancée a 3d. Its not a bad device. Rom choices and kernels are endless. The phone itself is just unimpressive. Put it side by an Epic touch and you will see what I'm talking about.

My wife had the Moment for almost 2 years with no LOS issues. I had the first Epic for a year and my wife has it now with no LOS. I now own the Epic touch and have never had LOS. The ones getting LOS posting on this forum are a small small percentage of people that have bought this phone. I would think if it was a huge issue many would be flooding sprint about this. I am not meaning to say some don't have this problem, I am sure you do but to say it is a Samsung problem IMO is wrong. If that were the case it would seem to me everyone would be getting LOS.
i hear there is a pretty good bit getting LOS.. also i was looking at it on sprint.com and the first reviews were bad.. bad signal, bad battery, etc.
My battery has been very good so far and the wifi signal looks like it is weaker than on the original epic but my speeds are higher. Battery on this compared to the first epic are like night and day
If you live in a area with a excellent service probably the phone work fine but if is spotty area where the radio needs to search for a signal that is when samsung radios don't do a good job.
The epic 4g touch is plagued with good battery life and a screen that's just full of colors and junk and a lame dual core processor that's just so fast i get all sorts of anti lag. Plus i can't seem to take a blurry picture which just grinds my gears.
I wouldnt get it. Wish I would have seen the reviews on sprint.

I haven't had the phone long enough to make a positive or negative recommendation yet (2 days) but right off the bat, the "Androis OS" battery draining bug is one thing i noticed rightaway. Left home at 5am with phone, no calls or any usage and by 11.30am i was at 48% battery life. I thought my eyes were deceiving me but they weren't. Came on here to research it and it's a big deal, and some recommended to Odin a stock deodexed rooted rom which i have done and i plan to see if that works or helps. I don't have any LOS (which apparently is exacerbated more with custom kernels), so sticking with stock kernel for now.
Coming from a NS4G which has a craptastic radio, the Epic Touch is much better in that regard. Places at work where the NS4G would not even pick up 3G data at all (or data just stalls), the Touch flows just right through. Volume sounds are so much better than the NS4G. I liked the NS4G but i couldn't stand the quiet speaker and soft vibrate.
I have high hopes for this phone. So slim and lightweight, yet powerful. And hot damm, the camera is fantastic.
i think im gonna run over and pick one up at lunch! hell i have 30days to return it.. soo... seems good. im in Memphis btw.. if anyone else is around here.. hows your service?
After I got the radio update on my Nexus I didn't have signal problems anymore. Prior to, I did. I complained and got a year early upgrade. So thank you, Samsung. Oh and for LOS, I did have the problem on my first Epic Touch after rooting. I have yet to root this one and have had no problems. I feel sorry for people who don't own one and know the joy that is the Epic Touch 4g.

I just became eligible for an upgrade as a Sprint Premier Gold customer - my last one before the program ends in December. I have been thinking about buying an Epic 4G Touch for a while, and am wondering if those of you who got them early on are still happy with your purchase.
As far as I can tell, there is not any Sprint android phone on the horizon that looks any better, and I am not willing to wait until March to upgrade. Also, if it makes any difference I am coming from the OG Epic, which finally seems to be working well thanks to the GB update and the work of our great developers here at XDA.
So, any thoughts? Would you buy the E4GT again? Anything phones coming out soon that you would wait for? Thanks for any input...
If I could have a do over, I would wait until they fixed the LOS issue. Other than that, I love the phone and think it's the best option on Sprint currently (minus the LOS issue of course).
Without a doubt.

Results have varried, but the EG31 modem update fixed the LOS issue for me. Haven't had one since...
I bought mine on launch day, and still very happy with my purchase. I would definitely buy it again.
Considering Sprints 2011 line up, ET4g is the best phone available.

Thanks to all for the input. Anyone else coming from the original Epic? How are you getting along without the hardware keyboard?
From evo to epic touch, this phone is amazing

I did come from the original Epic 4G. I was a lil worried about not having the physical keyboard because I text a lot, but surprisingly it hasn't been a problem. I found that I was using the onscreen keyboard on my OG Epic a lot anyway, and with the added screen real estate, it only made it easier. I have adjusted quite well to all touchscreen.
Yes! Honestly, this phone never fails to amaze me. From how sharp and crisp the screen is, to the speed/raw power as the device as a whole, to the sexyness of the phone, even when the screen is off.
Remember, you will have 14 days to return/switch to another phone.
Its the best out now on any carrier besides the att variant.
The next phone that will be a major step up probably won't be out until next April/may at the earliest (on sprint at least). So go for it.
It will get the ice cream sandwich update so its future proof I'd say, I wouldn't wait on the nexus because by time that comes to sprint, if it does, it will be short lived like the nexus s on sprint (dual cores came to sprint a month later)

I would definatelly buy one again. It is sweet phone. No regrets here.

The phone, as a device, is great. The phone, as a phone, sucks a big fat one. The antenna design and/or radio firmware is causing me to regret buying this device.
Not only is there a LoS issue as others have pointed out, but signal quality itself is atrocious. In general, CDMA is meant to be able to operate at very low signal quality. However, when this phone gets into low signal strength, it chops up my audio send/receive. Moreover, the data speed I get is crap. YMMV.
As I stated earlier, the phone, as a device, is great. It has a beautiful screen, the camera is pretty awesome, and it rarely slows down when using it regularly.
I agree with most of what fadeaway said. I wouldn't buy. Wait for a LTE handset to land unless you plan on buying another phone in 6 months. Here's what I posted on another thread:
I bought the ET4G on a whim after seeing it on Craigslist for an attractive price. After using it for a week, it's going back on Craigslist and I am using my OG Epic again w/ the new Gingerbread release (and physical keyboard fixes!).
While the ET4G certainly offers a snappier Android experience and a better camera than the OG Epic, I didn't find the boost in speed or extra screen real estate to be worth the $325 I paid for the device. I think the only speed boost worth writing home about was the speed of the ET4G's stock browser. Lastly, the audio quality of SGSII is inferior to SGSI and in all honesty not worthy of a high end smartphone - this was the deal breaker for me.
Considering that you already have the OG Epic, I'd wait until the middle of next year so you can get a killer future-proof 720p LTE phone at a fully discounted price. All that said, the ET4G is still a great device!
I just got mine last week, and LOVE it, running Calk's ROM + ICS theme and this phone just looks so cool, the screen is perfect for web page reading, and watching YouTube videos look amazing, and the WiFi signal for me is the best I have ever had, upstairs in bedrooms I still get good WiFi signal from the Basement office, no other phone held connection up on the 2nd floor. GPS is rock solid and locks on instant. Yes I have had two LOS's so far in one week, but no big deal, just restart the phone and it's gone, the phone restarts so fast. And that happened at my Mom's house, a very poor Sprint area, with no bars ever.
I am coming from the Nexus-S 4G which was feeling small to me, and before that my EVO 4G which I loved for a year. The Epic Touch 4G gives me that same wow factor I had when the EVO first came out last year. Oh yeah, the sound volume is great, very loud playing videos, where as my Nexus could barely be heard at full volume, and this is even louder than my EVO 4G, which was good.
There won't be a significantly better phone out until Summer, most likely the EVO-Three and Galaxy S3. And I can't wait till there is a solid stable Android 4.0 ICS ROM out for this phone, then holy cow, this thing will destroy anything for a long time.

Yeah, that is a great point. I think I am going to call Best Buy and see if they will match Amazon's $149 price for the phone. If so, I may get it tonight...
The hardware is excellent but the phone doesn't get much support, I would have waited if I was to do it all over again. HTC phones get lots of supports, which I would have waited for. I had the ppc6700, mogul, hero, and eve.
One last thing, I thought the EVO 4G when it first released last year was an amazing device, it just blew me away, the big screen, build quality, tons of custom ROM's, just an awesome smartphone for last year.
I feel the Epic Touch 4G, is the true successor and best next gen device for Sprint.
ehh
I think my biggest problem with the phone is that it feels so unpolished, in terms of all the little issues I keep running into it. Granted, LoS only happened to me after a root, but, it was an annoying issue for many other people. The GPS lock is just absolute crap, and the fact that apps keep crashing because of that sound glitch is just plain annoying. I couldn't even finish PvZ because of it...
Honestly, it feels like Sprint and Samsung were trying to sell this phone quick and leave it to dry while they were working on their other new offerings (iphone4s for Sprint, and the Galaxy Nexus for Samsung). Feels very half assed...
Given a second shot, I think I'd have to really reconsider...
I'm on the EG30 modem with ROOT+CWM5 applied. Stock ROM and kernel other then that.
I've only had LOS one time and that was when I was in a basement where there simply was no signal. No Sprint, nothing to roam to either.
When I came out of the basement and was back in an area I knew for a fact should have had full Sprint bars, my phone showed nothing. Said I had no service. I had to reboot to which fixed it.
First and only time.
I love my new Samsung Epic Touch 4G.
I'm not sure that it's really much better then my EVO 4G was either though. My EVO was tweaked VERY nicely and I was getting 30~35 hours of battery life on MikG ROM with a little SetCPU tweaking. I like the slim profile of the Epic Touch 4G though, sucker is THIN and seems to be better built then my EVO 4G.
That said, I really took a hard look at the Apple iPhone 4S when I was shopping.
I almost picked up the 4S simply because I work for a school system that is loaded with iPhones, iPads and Macbooks.
I'm pretty much the only person in my department (technology dept) that uses an Android. I sorta want to get in line with what the district runs. The ONLY reason didn't get the 4S was the size of the screen. If it would have been 4~4.5 inches, I would have gotten one. If the iPhone 5 has a bigger screen, I might consider that at upgrade time. Personally I think both series, Android and iOS have good things to offer.
Anyway, back to the original question yes I would buy the Epic Touch 4G again today.
coming from a hero. want your thoughts on if I should get the e4gt tomorrow or wait a month for the evo lte?
The LTE would be more useful later, the WIMAX more useful now. I guess this is the biggest factor.
Size and Weight seem similar. Screen resolution better on evo lte, processors about equal?
I was thinking about the galaxy nexus, but i dont think this will be out until much later.
Wait a month if you like the evo we all can't wait for lte I myself am waitingfor the s3
So much happier with my galaxy over my evo and nexus. I am going to trap the sg3 or whatever it is when it gets to sprint. Not going to bother with lte as that is so far away for any real usage anywhere decent. Definately like HTC just wish they made a phone that wasn't so freaking heavy.
Why do you want the Evo LTE or why do you want Epic touch? Answer that and it will answer your questions... which phone do you want to still have in 2014. Where do you live and is there 4g or not, is it coming to your hood and do you really need it. Answer that and it will answer YOUR questions.
I know you asked others but too me if you do your research its only you that can decide what's best for you... Either phone you wont be losing out

I like the weight of the e4gt -- I was very surprised to see the evo lte is only 4grams heavier, which is making me think more about it.
How does ICS run on the rooted e4gt? Is there anything bad about the e4gt? and will lte really take that long to roll out? i'll be living in SLC or Bay Area in 6 months
In my 60 seconds of using the e4gt it seems like the icons and menus are too big... which makes me think having the high res screen is better. is this a fair assessment?

Agreed. Depending on your area, you could be 4G-less for a while if you go with the new Evo. If you don't have wimax where you're at or where you're going, you might as well wait for the new Evo.
I'm assuming you rate an upgrade with Sprint? If you're buying without renewing your contract, you should consider just buying something used.
I'm interested in the galaxy s3 and journal

I'll pretty much just reiterate what others have said; First check 4G (Wimax) coverage for your area. If you do not get WiMax, you should probably wait for LTE.
There are other options, if you want an LTE device, the Galaxy Nexus is a true ICS experience, but the EVO has better specs. If you want to save some money the LG Viper isn't a bad choice either. However, I'd say both the EVO and the GN have a more lasting appeal.
While I love my Epic and will not upgrade to anything but a GSIII; I wouldn't blame you for waiting for the EVO.
Seriously, WAIT. Why even ask? Newer phone in EVERY way.
EVO LTE...trust me!
any word on the camera on the EVO LTE?
Epic camera seems tough to beat

Look at the review videos I think the evo wins on camera it has zero shutter lag
I would definitely wait for the new evo or gs3. Never used the gs2 myself though.
If I was going to be stuck with a phone for two years you better believe it would be LTE, who knows how long sprint will leave the wimax switch on.

galaxy nexus has zero shutter lag and the camera still sucks. I dont trust htc, they always have crappy cameras. epic touch is one of the best phone cameras out now

I took a ton of pictures when I was at the event last week, and was impressed with the camera. First time I've actually looked at another device for the camera.
Just a minor sticking point, you won't get the EVO in a month that's just when you can start pre-ordering them. To my knowledge they still haven't released the actual date when the phone will be available.
Even though the et4g is a fantastic phone in every way, at this point in time the Evo would be a better bet due to superior specs and LTE support.
Better yet, wait a little longer for the SGSIII release date announcement and decide if you can wait that long. That phone will for sure be worth holding on to for 2 years.
Transmission sent from a Galaxy S II, CODENAME style.
If you have wimax coverage where you live and where you are most of the time. Pretty dumb to get a phone (no matter how good it is) with wildly varying data speeds on 3g. If you don't have any wimax coverage and are in a major city / where sprint is slated to do their LTE expansion, by all means get it.
Point is. If you have wimax. Stick with E4GT for now since you' won't be getting LTE till later on (most likely 1+ years).
