Can someone tell me how to get rid of adw launcher in cm7 and replace it with go launcher using root explorer, ill hit the thanks button
Install whatever launcher you want to use.
Then, you will need the "home switcher for Froyo" app from the market to change your default launcher.
When you run the Home Switcher program, click on "clear default" and then go down the screen and click on "clear defaults", then finally press your home key on your phone. You should now see your options given.

That is way over complicated. Its easier to do it this way:
1. Download Go launcher
2. Press home, set go launcher as default
3. Open titanium backup, find the adw launcher, and delete it
4. Done

Either way.

I disabled it but unfortunately it isn't as easy as re-tracing your steps. How do I enable it again. I'm not rooted by the way.
did you remove any apps from it?
if not, go to Settings->Applications->Manage applications->Launcher and select clear defaults, if you use a launcher other than Android's, replace "Launcher" above with the appropriate launcher, hit home, select use by default, and click HTC Sense
You're the man dude.
Hi all, I have just flashed my SGS I9000 with Darky's 9.2 rom, since doing this I cant hide Launcher pro icon labels (shortcut widget).
I know this is trivial, however it is screwing up the format of my launcher.
Any ideas?
I was on 9.0/9.1 when I hid the the text and couldn't get the labels back. Had to remove launcher pro, delete related folders and re-install. Must admit i've not tired it on 9.2.
Thanks for the reply, I have now reinstalled LPro, now when I check the box "Hide Icon Labels" under Lpro preferences, I press the restart now button and the labels are still there. I go back into the preferences and the box has reset and is unchecked!

Try deleting /dbdata/databases/com.fede.launcher with root explorer.
Decided to change to Go Launcher EX, looks good!
Im running the latest stable version of CM with Amon Ra recovery. It runs great except for these three problems.
1. I use the Zeam Home Launcher and every time I reboot the system resets it back to the default launcher. I press home and choose Zeam launcher, but none of my widgets load.
2. Is there a way to keep Wifi on even when the screen is turned off. I know this was a setting on MIUI, however I cant find a setting for CM7. I would like it to stay on all the time.
3. I have the latest version of the Market. When I search for an app it displays the total number of matches found in the top right corner. However, when I scroll down the list it ends after about 20-30 apps even though there its showing hundreds of matches. I then do the same search online, see all the available apps, and know for certain that they are compatible and can install them from online.
I have done a factory reset twice and reinstalled everything, including ROM and Recovery.
Thanks for reading and any help you might be able to provide.

1. When you choose the zeam launcher, make sure you check the box that says 'set as default' set your widgets. They should stick now.
2. Settings > Wireless settings > Wifi Settings > Press Menu > Advanced > Wifi sleep policy: set to never
3. If you keep manually scrolling the rest of the results should show up.
One Down....
1. Zeam launcher has been set to default launcher every time. Tried again with no success.
2. FIXED. Thanks. Why in the world would they make you press "Menu" inside of a menu window ? Seems weird to me.
3. Scrolling changes nothing. How would you NOT scroll manually anyways ? Not trying to be rude, just sayin.
One down, two to go !

1. IDK then, that's how it should work...try force stopping it then clearing the data
2. Huzzah
3. Well some people would just see the bottom, and not continue scrolling [seen it happen] try clearing the market cache and data.
Try uninstalling adw launcher
And search games on market. Does it really only show 20-30 games..?
Having trouble with AOSP? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1295702
Posted a video of what happens when i search something on the market.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLkQhVDhk-4
you can see that it says there are 4500 results, but i get no where near that many.
i cleared the cache and the data, rebooted and still nothing.

Have you tried installing a new market? [vending]
Download the latest CM7 gapps, extract the vending.apk [market], place it on your sd card, then install it.
I had the same problem with the Market, and I know others did too. Mine was only on occasion, but still obnoxious. So far the newest Market leaked from ICS (version 3.2.0) has fixed the problem for me. I couldn't install it over, I had to replace the apk in /system/app, set permissions (rw-r--r--) and reboot. Remove or rename any com.android.vending.apk you may have in /data/app, just in case. Backup your old Market in Titanium Backup or rename it so you can revert back if needed.

As for the launcher issue, I had similar problems when I was running CM7 way back on nightly 21 or something. Try updating to a newer version or downgrading to a previous version. Or you can try reflashing the rom over itself. You'll need to reinstall the new Market if you flash anything.

Launcher Issue
Notice: The stock launcher for CM is ADW Launcher. I'm not a big fan of it either so I've also replaced mine. Normally just installing a launcher from the market and selecting it as your default launcher (via the pop up window that displays when you have multiple launchers installed) is all it takes to make it a default. I normally wouldn't advocate changing your system apps. However, in your case it seems like the system just doesn't want to cooperate with you.
Here is how to do it.
1. Make sure ALL launchers are uninstalled. (except for ADW of course)
2. Download a root file explorer like ES File Explorer
3. Download Zeam Home Launcher's apk file to your SD card
4. Open ES File Explorer (or whatever root file manager you downloaded) and make sure your root folder is mounted (so that you can modify its contents instead of it being read only)
5. Copy Zeam Launcher apk from SD card to /System/App/
6. Delete the apk for ADW Launcher (the stock launcher) from /System/App/ (or you can just move it to your SD card in case you decide later that you want to use it again)
7. Reboot phone
8. Enjoy Zeam as your new PERMANENT stock launcher.
Hi,
as in the topic - is it possible to uninstall stock appz without root (superuser)?
If so (hopefully), which soft can I use and which appz can I delete?
Hi
No without root you cannot completely uninstall them
You can just "disable" them in the "Apps" settings
then they will not show up as app.
Regards
max
thx, well good to know.
by disabling them you mean that 1. they won't be visible in app menu and 2. they won't start with startup?
can I disable any of them?

I have an unlocked HTC 10 and wanted to know if there is anyway if uninstalling touchpal as I am using swiftkey. Touchpal downloaded 16 different language packs that show up in my installed apps that I cannot seem to remove. Anyone else have this issue? Swiftkey is working fine but it would be nice to uninstall all the language packs at a minimum as I never installed them intentionally.

All those language packs come pre-installed. You have to root to remove them

You can, however, disiable all of the other language packs and remove permissions, if you are so inclined.
Did you manage to remove all the language packs? I'm having the same problem and want them gone badly.
I know we can disable pre-installed language packs. What about the one on Google play store?. I had massive installed packs from this keyboard.

you'd better not to think about that.
The default encryption of android 6.0, after a reboot, it requires the default keyboard to decryption. Other 3rd party keyboard won't even work.

It's the useless language packs we want removed, not the whole keyboard.
This is how it looks like
If you go under apps and show system apps you will see the full list of language packs installed. These are installed on mine, and i cannot remove them
I just had these update on my phone as well, it's really annoying we can't uninstall

if you are rooted you could remove them by using system app remover from playstore....
then flash a keyboard in recovery as system keyboard to avoid that issue in ending up not getting keyboard if you have encryption password.

This worked for me in disabling Touchpal entirely but I did not see the options for the language packs in your method.
if u are able to disable the entire TouchPal u must see even the pack install they are system files or maybe u dont have any pack instaled
Actually I just went through the regular app manager and the language packs were listed there for me. I disabled everything there one by one.
Go to settings / apps. Press menu, click show system, disable from there. They're under keyboard I believe.
Titanium Backup makes this easy as you can batch enable/disable/uninstall.
heh...perhaps this thread having over 6,000 views--with the second place having only over 300 views--is an indication that TouchPal may not be desirable.

I usually use GBoard. Can that be installed as a system keyboard?
