I have an unlocked HTC 10 and wanted to know if there is anyway if uninstalling touchpal as I am using swiftkey. Touchpal downloaded 16 different language packs that show up in my installed apps that I cannot seem to remove. Anyone else have this issue? Swiftkey is working fine but it would be nice to uninstall all the language packs at a minimum as I never installed them intentionally.

All those language packs come pre-installed. You have to root to remove them

You can, however, disiable all of the other language packs and remove permissions, if you are so inclined.
Did you manage to remove all the language packs? I'm having the same problem and want them gone badly.
I know we can disable pre-installed language packs. What about the one on Google play store?. I had massive installed packs from this keyboard.

you'd better not to think about that.
The default encryption of android 6.0, after a reboot, it requires the default keyboard to decryption. Other 3rd party keyboard won't even work.

It's the useless language packs we want removed, not the whole keyboard.
This is how it looks like
If you go under apps and show system apps you will see the full list of language packs installed. These are installed on mine, and i cannot remove them
I just had these update on my phone as well, it's really annoying we can't uninstall

if you are rooted you could remove them by using system app remover from playstore....
then flash a keyboard in recovery as system keyboard to avoid that issue in ending up not getting keyboard if you have encryption password.

U go in apps and in right corner u press on that point and select configure apps , than u select "Draw over other application " than u go again in the right corner and press show system and u will be able to see touchpal keyboard and all language pack. After this u go and select what pack u want to disable press on it and u will see an " i " that is info and u just press that and u will be able to disable the pack even the touchpal keyboard it self. Hope this will help you guys .

This worked for me in disabling Touchpal entirely but I did not see the options for the language packs in your method.
if u are able to disable the entire TouchPal u must see even the pack install they are system files or maybe u dont have any pack instaled
Actually I just went through the regular app manager and the language packs were listed there for me. I disabled everything there one by one.
Go to settings / apps. Press menu, click show system, disable from there. They're under keyboard I believe.
Titanium Backup makes this easy as you can batch enable/disable/uninstall.
heh...perhaps this thread having over 6,000 views--with the second place having only over 300 views--is an indication that TouchPal may not be desirable.

You are talking about MRU list, when you run program it places own icon into MRU list, if you don't want to wait, run 3-5 different programs and they pull out your "dead" icon.
Why can't I "Remove Programs"?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am using a S621 (aka S620, aka Excalibur, aka Dash) running WM6 and when I select Remove Programs (Start>Settings>More>Remove Programs) there are no programs on the list at all.
Ideas?
What is it that you want to remove? What 3rd party apps have you installed?
Any app that is part of the installed ROM won't show up in the remove programs.
If you install 50 or more apps to your device the remove program list will be blank when accessing it from settings. You will have to use activesync from your PC to remove programs.

Really? That is strange. That was probably the problem.
Anyways I had been meaning to change from the Russian ROM to the HTC Official one for a while anyways, so I just did that last night. So it doesn't matter anymore (as upgrading removed all my programs, of course), but that is good to know for the future. Thanks.

I downloaded some applications that i decided that i didnt need (Yahoo Go, Streaming Media Player, Etc)
When i delete them out of my Folders, i still have the icon in the Start menu...is there anyway to remove the icon?
Thanks
Go to settings, page 2, click on remove programs, then choose which ones you want to remove.
If you have total commander you can take em off easily. just open total commaner, go to windows-start menu. Go to icon you want to remove and hit file softkey and delete. Takes off start menu.
Never Do That Unless Everything Else Isn't Possible
You should always go to remove programs like stated above. It's in Settings then more then remove programs. Always, do that instead of just deleting the folders. It removes everything.
Removing programs that come with rom
Hey was wondering if anyone knows how to uninstall programs such as Office mobile, command processor, orneta calculator, resco explorer, cele task just to name a few. I am running ricky's v23 and they were built into rom. I know i can flash to vanilla rom but I like the fact omap clock thats built in keeps setting on what you choose with no further need to set it again. Also like alot of his built in features so dont really wanna flash if i dont have to but wanna free up space and get rid of stuff i don't want. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!
As far as I know, you can't but there is a way but i think it is complicated. I don't quite remember what you are supposed to do but i think you'd have to basically re-cook the ROM to your personal preference. The best person to ask this would be rickywatt himself. Get in touch with him and he'll guide you in the right direction. hope everything works out the way you want it !
If you look in Rickys thread, previous ROMS, he has a "vanilla" version.
Thats the one you are looking for.

I think he just doesnt want to flash the phone, thats the reason why he was trying to find out on how to do it. it kinda takes some time to get the phone the way you like it after you flash it, I would like to know how to get rid of those programs as well with out having to flash the phone.
Remove Programs Problem
Hello,
I am trying to remove some programs I have installed, however when I go into settings > remove programs, the list is blank. I have let it sit for up to 10 minutes hoping that it would populate but no luck. I am able to remove programs with active sync. I have used the remove programs feature with no trouble in the past. Have any of you ever had this problem or know what could be preventing programs from showing up in the list?
How many programs did you have installed? I remember there used to be a problem with WM6.0 where, if you had over a certain number of programs installed, the list wouldn't display.
just wondering if anybody could just give me a little guide or help with how to use titanium back up. im wanting to back up favorites. gba emulators saves, scenes, saved accounts like facebook accounts and pandora. also the backing up up apps has be a little confused. thank you in advance.
To save regular apps? Like ones from the market?
If so, just click the app and press backup? Don't see how that could be confusing.
If that's not working, at the bottom press "Problems?" and install Busybox
I'm also looking for help w/ titanium backup. For some reason, when I try uninstalling stock apps like peep/sprint zone, it doesnt do anything... The app is still in the list of programs. I dont get why.
I have root access...

I was in the same boat when I first got it. Much better now.
Here are a few tips:
1) use the filters. It's much easier to see User apps only. Choose "Click to edit filters" and then select the User radio button and Apply. This will show you all of the apps you've installed from the market. Then go to Menu > Batch > Backup All User Apps Run button, then choose the apps you want to backup from the list.
2) Do the same as #1 but filter for System apps. After choosing Batch, choose Backup All System Data Run button. The only real system apps I backup are:
-[ACCOUNTS] - but you don't really have to do this because if you flash a new ROM or something, you can just sign back in to your accounts at the beginning
-[USER DICT] - user defined saved words in dictionary I'm assuming
-[DESKTOP] HTC Sense - this will save where your icons are on the screens if you're using the Sense UI
-[BOOKMARKS] - this one is obvious
-[SMS/MMS PREFS] Messages - I think this saves your messages that are currently on your phone
-WiFi Access Points - all the Wireless networks and settings you've previously saved
Obviously you can backup whatever you want, these just seem to work for me.
3) Note that you can combine 1 and 2 by filtering All and All on the filtering screen, then Batch button, then Backup All User Apps + System Data run button. I just use it this way because it makes it a bit easier to filter out your user apps from all of the system stuff.
If anyone else has any tips or see that I'm using this in a whacked out manner, please let me know!

Oohh... ok , to be clear ..if I donate then it will auto install all my apps with out me having to hit "ok" for each app...that's well worth $4 !
I'm confused about how to work this too. My understanding is that BATCH MODE is supposed to do something...yet I don't see it doing anything.
I press one of the many run buttons, and it just takes me back to the Backup/Restore tab after. There's no indication that the program is doing anything to back anything up...for me at least.
And I'm sure there has to be a better way to do it than backup every single individual thing one-by-one. And also...why don't apps restore when I, say... Flash a new ROM (with the Clockwork/Rom Manager file still on SD), and reinstall ROM Manager?
I'm just not getting this for some odd reason, and I'm a very quick learner with everything else Android.
NOTE: I have the donate version btw.
It's more like BATCH>RUN>RUN...
Select Menu/Batch, select "Run" next to the batch operation you would like to do, then select Run again at the top of the next screen. It should be very obvious that it starts doing backups or whatever you selected.

Ok that worked. You know what it may have been? I was accessing the Batch menu from the Backup/Restore tab and I wasn't getting these options. Because I just did what you told me from the opening screen, and it worked. I'm all happy now.

I never really found a proper guide on how to update the Samsung Salaxy S pre-installed Swype and after figuring out how to do it i thought i'd share it with whoever needed it.
1) To update the pre-installed Swype to Swype beta you have to have root access or else this isn't going to work
2) Download "Root App Remover" and "Root Explorer" from the android market
3) Run Root App Remover (it will take a minute for it to initially scan the phone for system and user apps)
4) Using Root App Remover go to system apps scroll down to Swype tap it and press recycle, to completely uninstall it (which you have to do) press menu then "SystemApp Recycler" and uninstall it.
5) Run Root Explorer and press the "Mount R/W" button at the top if it isn't already selected, after that to go "system" folder then the "lib" folder and delete the file "libswypecore.so" (if it isn't there then go back into system and then back again)
6) After that go into the "data" folder then the "data" folder and delete "com.android.android.inputmethod" file (if its not there then quit root explorer)
7) After that go to the Swype Beta Website and register, go through all the various steps untill you've finished downloading and installing the Swype Installer.
8) Run Swype Installer and go through all the steps, then download and install the Swype Beta, generate the license using the installer and your done the newest Swype beta is now installed one you Samsung Galaxy S

It seems quite a bit faster and the horizontal word choice bar is so much better than the intrusive popup list. I like it a lot more than the stock version.
Well i have just found the answer to a question i posted a while back:

The answer is here. Swype now incorporates many of the features that BlindType had including the movable keyboard!

The easiest way:
1) Gain root
2) Install Super Manager (from Market)
3) Enable root mode on Super Manger (under Settings)
4) Delete Swype (APK-Manager -> search for swype -> long press and delete),
5) Reboot
6) Install Swype Beta

Yep, definitely worth updating to the new beta since it doesn't take much effort to uninstall the pre-installed outdated version of Swype that came with the phone anyways

I would add a step for some folks -
6a) Boot into CWM recovery, clear cache, clear dalvik cache, reboot.
Without that step, my install of Swype beta would FC upon launch but after starting over and clearing the caches, I was able to install and use no problem.
Excellent.. I am able to SWYPE Now
i followed the Titanium backup root, I uninstalled using TB did not restart and ran the Swype installer and everything worked thereafter.
I installed the tablet version and in portrait mode, the keyboard is tiny although it doesn't affect swyping, is there a way to make it slightly larger?

It's a bug with the "Google Now" launcher and also with "Launcher3".
If you put a short-cut or a widget on the desktop for an app that has been transferred to the SD-card (internal or external), it won't stick after a reboot...
I can confirm that this problem doesn't happen if you install and use the "Nova Launcher" instead.
Other launchers might work too, but I didn't check them all.

Hello all,
I cann't find a solution to install apps in sideload on my Pixel 2XL.
It was after flashing version 10 in the beginning of september.
After a lot of trying I give up and hope someone else here can help me.
My Pixel 2XL is unlocked but not rooted.
Normally I do the sideload by transfer an apk to my dropbox. After that I start it up and do what the system tells me.
Nowadays I got a return of a message in dropbox that -it is impossible to open the apk and download an app to open the apk-.
After that I download the apk to my download folder to try again. Then, when trying to startup, I get a popup with the name off the apk, the version nr, the size and packagename.
There is also a button to view apk content. When I push that button the right folders of the apk are indeed visible.
There are also 3 options. One to install, one to go to playstore and one to stop further actions and go back.
When I try to use the button install the result is that nothing happened, no signal, no message from the system, no popup, really nothing.
You all know that this is not what I want. I just want to install the apk. I have tried it with a few other apk's with the same results. :crying:
Before the last OTA upgrade to android 10 it was normal to install with these methods.
Thanks for who can helping me and others for trying to help me.

Have you enabled install apps from unknown sources? You'll also need to enable apps to install apps from what I can see in android 10. If you pull up an apps indignation you can expand the options and there will be an option to allow it to install apps, which Dropbox may need. The first one needs to be enabled to install apks from the download folder.

Thanks for helping me.
I did all these settings before.
Now I tried to open another filemanager (Google Files) and that did the job.
I don't know why installing in dropbox or installing in es file explorer doesn't do the same with equal settings.
Maybe an idea to uninstall and re-install these apps?
Anyway, a lot of thanks for your answer.

Android 10, install from unknown sources is like an app permission now, you have to grant it to things like chrome (download apk and install) and file managers rather than a global setting for phone. Safer as you trust an app o do it rather than letting some malware in background filling your phone with crap.

Uninstalling and reinstalling will not work, as I've done that with my modded version of ES File Explorer. This is a change in Android itself.
Go to Settings > Apps & Notifications > Special App Access > Install Unknown Apps. A list of apps will appear. Select an app and toggle the switch.
NOTE: Dropbox is on the list, but at least on my device my modded version of ES File Explorer is not.
