Trying to change operator name, I lost a key files But I had just done a full ROM Manager backup before this.
So I restored stock ROM from zip on SD, then re-installed ROM Manager and then did a restore of my perfectly working ROM.
BUT...I have no phone service! In fact on the settings>about phone>network screen I have NO operator name, NO signal strength, NO mobile network type, NO service state, and NO roaming.
I assume this is actually a simple resolution since so much is out. If I can just find the circuit breaker I can through the switch and get this all back.
BTW, with no service, I cannot try to *288 activate or even call Verizon on 611.
Instead of reinstalling the rom, rom manager and then restoring your backup, you might want to try simply booting directly into recovery (power off, then hold power + down volume. When you get into hboot, use down volume to select Recovery and then hit power to select). In recovery, do a full wipe (system, data, cache, dalvic cache) then restore your backup. It seems something from your hosed rom is surviving.
I think you are right that Mr. Dalvic was my enemy! I had wiped what I thought was everything, but did so again more meticulously, and then did the reinstall.Phone service is now back. Thanks.

I recently discovered this mode from dialer codes and if u hit "menu" then "reset" it COMPLETELY wipes ur phone other than sd (rom, all user data, dalvik, cache, boot, system, wimax partition, data profile) Basically it resets the phone on all levels and returns the phone to "first outta the box" not even programmed state. Of course once u turn it on it will reprogram itself OTA an be back up nd running shortly. My question is would this wipe the baseband(cellular radio) info as well to potentially solve erratic 3g reception/speed issues? Ive seen that the Droids have an option to wipe baseband data from their bootloaders/recovery menus. Unless someone knows of an alternative way to solve the issue other than usual profile/prl/pri updates which just bandaid the problem IMO.
I have a Verizon Galaxy Nexus
I was running a CM9 nightly, and flashed CM9 RC1. Before flashing the rom, I went into recovery (TWRP 2.1), and did a factory reset, wipe dalvik, and wipe system. After flashing RC1, I go to turn on WiFi, and it connected without requiring me to enter my network key (router is a WPA secured, and requires a password to be entered on first setup). I've never had a phone do that before. If I wiped the device (hero, Evo 4G, Evo Shift 4G, Nexus S, Epic 4G Touch), it would be like starting over.
Is there something I'm not doing when I wipe, or is this normal behavior?
It backed up by Google.
If you don't enter your google account on setup it won't restore it. But if you do your apps and wifi passwords will be back by itself.
That's why it asked you if you wanted Google to restore your apps and settings and WiFi access points etc.. Gotta read what you're agreeing to
I had my phone successfully flashed to PagePlus, getting 1x data. I am no longer getting any data at all. All that was done was adding the 10.key file (which I've since remobed)... When I look at the Mobile Network in the phone status, it says disconnected.... Trying to even just get the 1x working again. Even restored the original ROM that I backed up after patching...
Any ideas? Would really like to not have to go through reseting the radio and migrating it back to pageplus, but if that is the quickest, easiest, most assured way, I'll do that.
Forgot to mention that I did a full format (cache, system, dalvik, data, internal, and factory reset) and installed the stock ROM as well before putting in the 10.key file, so not sure if something could have happened with that or not... I did perform a full restore back to my CM10.1 later, but still no data.
GSM Gnex. I'm playing with 4.4 roms and decided to give CM11 a try. Ran into issues with root access, so I decided to go back to SlimKat. Figured I would full wipe, since I hadn't done it in a while. Get back up and running, no signal/emergency calls only. Sim card is being picked up, I see my number in About Phone, signal is at -80something. I restore a backup, signal comes back, but it was one where I upgraded from 4.3 and Clock keeps FC and doesn't open at all. I factory reset using CWM and no signal, again. I've fully wiped everything except for the sdcard partition and reinstalled. Baseband is i9250xxlj1. If I try to connect to T-Mobile, my provider, I get "Can't connect to this network right now. Try again later.", APN is selected to T Mobile with the fast.t-mobile.com.
Edit: in an effort to try to fix it, I now have US baseband UGLL1, but no fix
So much has happened with this phone, but I'll cut right through it:
I got the phone to work in January by flashing stock rom followed by an OF7 Modem I found online ( At this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-s6/help/want-modem-file-g920p-5-1-1-version-t3421835). It worked! After a lot of tinkering (it worked before but only whilie I was roaming, that was terrible), it finally worked without roaming.
But a few days ago, I was activating mobile data, and it didn't work. I went to the IOTHidden Menu and accidentally hit SCRTN (Reset cellular settings to factory default), and it all shut down. I had an empty bar (it was still showing the bar, just empty), and I've done the following:
Wiped everything (System, Data, Cache, Internal Storage) with TWRP, multiple times, then flashed the same ROM with the same modem. It didn't work.
I went mad. Ticked EFS Clear and NAND Erase All in Odin and flashed an earlier ROM (but couldn't because of a fail at sboot.bin), now I just flashed the newest, debloated and deodexed ROM. It doesn't work!
It only shows invalid sim card (It just didn't recognize it before), I never unlocked it, but it did work with another carrier (Orange from the Dominican Republic) while roaming, which was then fixed by the modem.
Any help?
TL;DR: Phone only had signal while Roaming,Flashed OF7 modem and November stock rom, mobile data didn't work, accidentally hit SCRTN on IOTHiddenMenu, nothing works. Cleared EFS, Nand and System multiple times...... Now using latest debloated ROM, invalid SIM Card
Check the /efs directory. If it's empty, or very few files/folders, your phone is done. If it's still populated then there might be hope.
If your /efs directory is still intact, then grab the absolute latest tar update and flash that.
PS: never check efs clear unless you have a backup
