Just rooted my Defy with Superoneclick and downloaded Setvsel. My problem is that the oc-program won't start. The screen just goes black and after i while i have to force it to shutdown. Anyone knows why it does this?
Do you have 2nd Init instaled? If so, there's an option to enable oc and after that setvsel will work. Another option is install Droidoverclock(if a remember well), and enable oc, then setvsel works too.
No i dont have "2nd Init" installed, didn't know that it was required to run Setvsel.
It's not a pre requisite, but it enable oc feature in android. Install Milestone Overclock from market. Milestone OC will enable the same feature, and after that setvsel will work.

I've just installed Milestone Overclock and when i start it comes to a screen where i have two options: "Load module" and "Refresh". Under these options is a slider that says "Selected frequency: 550MHz 56 vsel (Default)". And under the slider is an box greyed out due to the fact that i don't have my sd-card installed (took it out when i rooted the phone). Sadly none of the options, "Load module" and "Refresh" that is, seems to work. What am i doing wrong? I thought it was as simple as rooting the phone and then play around with Setvsel.

Which version of android you're running?
I'm running leaked 2.3.3-112, with enabled oc in 2nd init.
When Milestone OC starts on my phone, the first button is "Unload module", because the oc is already enabled, and in your case, you have to click on "Load Module", but if is not working, i don't know why. This module is used for setvsel.
I'm running Android 2.2 (Froyo). But during all this time i have had the usb-cable connected to my computer and USB debugging enabled, But that shouldn't matter should it?
install milestone overclock...click on load module..dont care wat it does or wat it doesnt..now open setvsel..it should be working by now..
if it is still not working then uninstall and then reinstall milestone overclock after a reboot
hope it helps
So this is excatly what i did yesterday, i describe it thoroughly so someone with more knowledge maybe can spot what i did wrong.
1. Downloaded The newest version of Superoneclick
2. Downloaded the newest drivers for my Defy from the Motorola website, named "Download Motorola 5.0 Driver with MotoHelper", and installed them.
3. Dismounted the sd-card
4. Turned on USB-debugging in the settings-menu.
5. Connected my Defy to my computer and rooted it (since i'm not on Vista or Win7 i just doubleclicked on the program and pushed the root button). Everything worked fine so far and the "superuser" icon apperad shorlty after.
6. Now i downloaded Setvsel and tried to start it up. I was treated to a black screen but i kept on waiting for something to happen. After about 30s i got a message that the program can't launch and internetaddress.
7. After the advice that i should download "2nd Ini" i did so but that program wouldn't launch either. Then i tried with Milestone Overclock but only got to the screen where the "load module" option is and after having pushed that button the program just hangs and i have to push tha backbutton repeatedly to force the program to shutdown.
So i don't understand what's wrong i thought it was as simple as rooting my phone and then install Setvsel and play around with it? Never heard that Setvsel requires 2nd Init or Milestone to work.
yup.it will hang...let it hang...did u see whether setvsel was working after tat?it should work

No, i uninstalled it after Milestone OC just hang. I reckoned i must get into Milestone first to make SetVsel work. Don't understand why SetVsel won't work after i rooted it and why i must install another program to make it start. No one mentioned this to me, all i heard was "root your phone, install SetVsel and give it a go".
same thing used to happened to me too..milestone OC used to hang when load module was pressed...but after tat setvsel used to work...
do this..uninstall both and reinstall both..dont run setvsel...first run milestone OC..and click on load module..now open setvsel...this should work..it always works..

Ok. I'm just so fed up with the whole business right now, but i'll try later this evening maybe. I just want to understand why SetVsel won't start the easy way (without involving Milestone). For alot of people it does, maybe i'm doing something wrong that will brick my phone somehow?
nope this wont brick ur phone.even i was fed up of this setvsel problem in the beginning..i rerooted 5 times to make it work...atlast i thought to use milestone oc instead of setvsel..but later i noticed tat setvsel was working...after few hrs i installed new rom..followed same process..and it was working..make sure u have latest version of setvsel...

But didn't Milestone OC hang for you aswell? So what you suggest is. Install Milestone and SetVSel. Start Milestone and push "load module" and then when it hangs, what should i do? Force it to shutdown by pushing the back-button and then try to start SetVsel?
it shouldnt hang...and even if it hangs then close it and open setvsel...see if its working or not...hope for the best

Yeah will do so. It's just frustrating that SetVsel won't work from the beginning the way i've read it does for alot of people. Maybe there's a OC-program that works right from the start on my phone. Will post on other forums an see what they have to say about it. I'm a curious person and it's in my nature to want to understand the reasons when i encounter a problem rather than go around it without understanding what i'm doing. I've overclocked alot ot computers and now my way around a BIOS, but on my phone i can't even get in at the moment
After install setvsel, run it. Superuser permission will pop out, then allow it. After you allow it, it should run ok. If nothing pop out, setvsel cannot run and will hang. Try reset factory first then re install

No "superuser permission box" popped up when i first started SetVsel. Strange since i can see the superuser icon clearly among the apps meaning that i rooted it correctly. Am thinking of trying to install CM7 instead. Have read how to do it and sadly it seems as a rather lenthy process. I fear that since the simple process of rooting and running SetVsel didn't work ,installing CM7 will be impossible
Going to cm7 will be a good choice. Read cm7 faq before proceeding
Hey all,
First off - this is in no way a knock against all the self-sacrificing developers we have - they truly rock!
My question requires a little bit of background. I've been flashing since the days (lol) of Midnight Rom. Switched to Syndicate Frozen. I then started in the CM world with CM7 and liked it a lot. I felt it was quite snappy - although it had some quirks. Then when CM9 came out - I dived in. The quirky list of things about CM9 has really grown smaller and smaller. But one issue I feel remains. The speed. When I switched to CM9, I thought, well it's new, and it "wasn't even supposed to be able to fit on our phones to begin with..." but now I just don't know.... there has been a lot of streamlining and bug tweaks - I would have thought it should have smoothed out a bit.
My problem is, I just don't know when it's going to lag. I feel like sometimes it's fine, and other times it's just sitting there waiting and waiting to complete the action I've tapped. Other times it freezes and I have to long press the back key to kill the app.
I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this problem or if it's just me? Are we living in denial (lack of snappiness to have the latest OS ver), or is my phone saying I don't like what you've put in me!
FYI - I started with CM9 Alpha (something - can't remember) and I'm currently running Beta 3 (I usually like to wait a few days to see if there's any issues with the latest build b4 flashing). When I flash the latest builds, I only wipe cache part and dalvik cache. I also am sure each time to flash the recommended GAPPS. I have on occasion "fixed permissions" but that didn't do much.
I've been faithful about not flashing another kernel - although if that would help, any recommendations would be appreciated. Also, I was interested in trying the V6 Supercharger, but never did - and now it seems that no one is using that....
So is it just me, or is this everyone?
Start clean... wipe data... go into mounts and storage format /system. Then wipe dalvik. Flash the newest build and enjoy the slick ness... trust me fresh starts will save your life. Besides when installing new builds you can go into back up and restore. Backup your Google account and it will reinstall all your apps automatically.
The V6 supercharger will help as well.

Thanks again!
Hit menu. Go to system settings go to back up and reset. Hit backup account. Choose your Google account. It doesn't notify you of when its done but 5-10 minutes should be ample. It doesn't save data... sorry. But if you need it you can use titanium backup and restore data for apps you absolutely need.
That is not the V6 you want. This is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18703418&postcount=5021

You will want to run these after you install the new build.
Okay the files you want to download are the V6 Supercharger Update 9 RC8.2, and the Kick Ass Kernelizer RC8. Once these are downloaded (ignore the fact they are PDF's) Go ahead and download and install Script Manger from the market and open it up and find where you downloaded those files. Run the Kick Ass Kernelizer first. Tap it the dialog comes up and tap the Superuser icon to "run as root" then hit run. It will run through its terminal deal, when it asks for the I/O tweaks go ahead and say yes... i know it says bootloop potential but it hasnt happened to me so id say your good. Then it will give your options (K)ick ass , Chew G(u)m, and E(x)it. Type in K for it to install and to unistall you would type U, then hit enter... it will run through and when it says goodbye at the end at the top left you can hit close. Then go ahead and run the V6 Supercharger the same way. This one will give your scroll options type 1 hit enter. It will as for fix emissions type y hit enter, then it will ask to system integrate init.rc type y and hit enter. Then when it gets done it will ask if you want to use these custom values.. hit no... then i normally use the 7 option... but i suggests what options which is 5-7 for the epic since it has roughly 512mb of RAM. Then it will go through a terminal print again when it comes to the Superclean and Restart go ahead and choose yes. It will reboot and your all good to go. ... definetly making a copy of this... that was a long type .
NICE - I held of from doing the wiping of system and flashing from scratch - and the V6 made a HUGE difference!!!! Now every time I flash the latest Beta I'll need to run both of these scripts again, right?

Hi,
Since i can't post in the thread, so I just highlight in here.
I've been using this rom for about a month. This rom is really nice but since the new update, it gets even better. Only one small thing, the LED flashlight widget in the quickpanel didn't show up although you have tick it in the settings.
That's all. I hope someone could tell this to Spizzy01 so that he can fix this.

Aurora Play Problems
Hello,
I just installed Aurora Play 1.1.0 and I am having problems which I think might be related to superuser.
The Rom works fine, but anything that requires root access gets frozen in place. My phone is rooted, I am pretty sure of it - not only the bootloader is unlocked but also, I did manage to initially change the clock speed to 1.4 ghz, and that change has remained so far.
However, if, for example, I try enabling root access on the ES File Explorer, it simply freezes the app (sort of like it is waiting for the confirmation from Superuser, but it never comes). I only ever saw the superuser authorization screen once when I changed the clock at first.
I am pretty sure the OC is not the problem, since I reinstalled the rom and did no OC on the 1st time at all, but the same problem persisted.
I would try uninstalling SU and installing that other superuser app on the market to see if that would solve the problem, but I couldn't manage to uninstall it.
Any thoughts on this? I would love to solve this problem since this room is outstanding on all other accounts.
PS.: I followed all instructions to the letter, and like I said I tried reinstalling the rom already. I am using Lupus v10 (tried Lupus v11 before on the 1st installation).

Can CWM coexist with TWRP? I think I only have TWRP installed. Or can I just use TWRP instead?
missing pixels in landscape app drawer
Spizzy, first and foremost congratulations on this great rom, it is fantastic! The only gripe I'm having is that when the app drawer is in Landscape mode it is cutting some pixels on the bottom (can't see the lower end of the blue highlight when using the ps controls). Other than that, all is perfect so far.
It worked!
Thanks a lot, Spizzy! Whatever that package was, it worked great and now superuser is not giving me any headaches anymore. Everything works great and the rom is blazing fast!
Just one thing - when I checked the info that comes up on the pachage before installing it, it said it was for locked bootloaders, but I assume that was a typo (since the zip file is for unlocked, and mine is unlocked as well). Just mentioning since it could maybe cause a little confusion on people downloading it in the future.
Oh and I did use TWRP in the end - I guess it's the same thing.
So, I'll lay this out in bullet form to be more organised. I'm using the VZW G3.
1. I rooted my phone with IORoot, everything worked fine
2. Downloaded SuperSU from the Play Store, installed using normal mode.
3. Rebooted
4. Decided with my new fancy root I can install a pretty font, so...
5. I downloaded Fontster from the Play Store. Installed Roboto Light or Thin I forgot. Something then happened, I forgot what, but I restarted my phone as it felt right.
6. It would bring up a popup with a crazy comic-sans font, saying system ui has stopped responding. It made everything impossible to use, only allowing shutting off via holding power button.
7. Having just purchased the phone, I decided to reset via the menu you get when you turn it on by volume down + power. Everything seemed fine other than the phone missing the default font, and just using the comic-y one instead.
8. I decided to root again, and I did, but when I did that the error from #6 shows up.
9. Now, even when I factory reset, the error just keeps happening making the phone impossible to use.
How can I fix this phone is resetting doesn't work? I'm not very savvy with these things, but with a well written guide I'm usually good.

I looked at a different guide earlier, luckily this one seems easier. I'll try in the morning.
I have seen so many people reporting this crash after messing with fonts over the last 24 hours.
I believe its because changing fonts deleted/removed/other the stock fonts on the device and then the whole thing decides to crash on you - probably due to the way the particular app you were using to change fonts decided to do it.
Your options are to use LG PC Suite, or "Flashtool 2014" to flash a KDZ file.
I had this yesterday. Fonster was the issue. Factory reset didn't help, nor did adding the affected fonts back to system/fonts.
In the end I followed @Lennyuk's thread to use LG PC suite to restore the rom, worked a treat.
I want to start off that I was not involved in the development of Xposed. I am simply providing a step-by-step guide with photos to make it easier to follow, as some people have expressed concern over which file they need to flash and so forth.
The guide is based off of the original G4 Xposed thread here.
*Before you get started, make sure your phone is fully charged and you have at least 30 minutes where you can be without your phone, as this process takes 20-30 minutes to complete. You also need root for this to work. There is always a chance your phone may need to be restored, so insure all your data is backed up, however this should not wipe any data.*
UPDATE 10/9/15:
The instructions below have been updated to reflect the latest official version of Xposed for Lollipop 5.1.
If you've installed the earlier v71 version of Xposed and would like to upgrade, all you need to do is flash the latest xposed-v79-sdk22-arm64.zip file using FlashFire.
Step 1:
Download the Xposed Framework (xposed-v79-sdk22-arm64.zip) from here.
Download the Xposed installer (XposedInstaller_3.0_alpha4.apk) from here.
Download FlashFire* from here.
*You will need to follow the links in the first post to join the FlashFire community, wait a few minutes, then click the Play Store link to become a tester. After ~5 minutes the download link will become live for you to download FlashFire.
Step 2:
Copy the two Xposed files to your internal storage (not MicroSD card!)
Step 3:
Install FlashFire on your phone.
Step 4:
Launch FlashFire
Grant root permissions
Click on the "+" in the bottom right
Click "Flash ZIP or OTA"
Select the path to where you downloaded the Xposed framework, and click on the file.
DO NOT select Auto-Mount, leave it unchecked.
Step 5:
Click "FLASH". Note, this may take ~30 minutes. After you click flash, your phone will appear to shut off. DO NOT touch your phone during this process. Around 15 minutes later, you will see commands being run and files copying, then it will appear to be off for another 15 minutes. Afterwards it will boot back into the OS.
Step 6:
Once you are booted back into the OS, install the Xposed Installer that you previously downloaded by launching it.
Finished!
You now have Xposed!
FlashFire is an amazing tool!
I jumped on the beta when it first came out.
Thank you for doing a roll up to include all files and instructions in a single thread!
I too have this working on my VS986!
Thanks for the screenshots and concise instructions! Helped being re-assured of the steps I needed to take throughout the entire process. You cannot go wrong if you follow these steps.

That's awesome that we can get this installed with the locked bootloader. But do any modules work? What are you guys using it for so far? I only ever used xposed for the pandora patcher module. Anything else out there worth trying?
Thanks for the write up on this by the way. Details are always a good thing.
Is anyone else getting the "updating apps" dialogue after each reboot?

That makes sense.
I ended up switching back to stock dpi (modified dpi messed up my lock screen quick buttons, settings crashed constantly, camera wasn't happy and sense i would have to spend all that time adjusting them back to stock, I decided to do the opposite) I found it faster to leave dpi stock and adjust per app with AppSettings to achieve a better dpi setting for the apps that were driving me nuts. Like Google +, gmail, etc.
Be careful though the email app doesn't like to go below 560 dpi.
I have followed this exactly and tried several times now, but continue to have an issue with xposed actually recognizing that the framework is installed. It says the framework is not active. Anyone else experienced this and been able to correct it?
Edit: I should mention, I have indeed rebooted several times also.

There aren't any failures anywhere that I can see, and it does take about 10 minutes both times.
Just to confirm with others, you have followed this guide without issues correct? I want to make sure there wasn't a mistake in my directions.
@jv, I would try to redownload all the files from the attachments and give it another go.
Just so you all know I did this ONE time on THREE different phones and every time I WAITED for it to finish. It WILL seem that the phone is off or dead or not doing jack **** but it is in fact booting to flashfire it just takes forever.
Thank you,
confirming - I followed the guide exactly and it worked with no issues. thanks!
one small thing - at the end of step 5, before booting back into the OS, there was another screen that did some fancy stuff
I didn't have any issues installing. I did get worried because it took longer than expected though. From flash to reboot to about 45 minutes. It was all I could do not to tank the battery out.
Greenify (donation) with xposed made the biggest difference as far as battery life. As for now, I'm 14hrs off the charger, 1hr 20 mins screen time, not on WiFi, and still at 70%.
