[Q] Can't File Transfer via Bluetooth? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

When I pair my ET4G with my PC via bluetooth for file transfer. The PC says that the drivers for the device are not installed after it appears to pair successfully. It worked fine with my old Epic. I have the USB drivers and Kies installed. I know that Kies does not support bluetooth connections. Anyone else having this issue or able to make it work? If so, what did you do to get it working? It was really nice to transfer one or two files to/from my PC without pulling the phone out of my pocket.

Transferring Files on PC

Hey XDA,
All of a sudden I'm unable to transfer any files over from my PC to my GS3. When I try to move files to flash into my GS3 I get the error message:
Cannot Copy Item. The device has stopped responding or has been disconnected.
Any ideas? I've uninstalled my samsung USB drivers and updated it. No dice. Tried both PTP and MTP as well and still nothings working.
Thanks!
Try a different usb port and/or cable. I know if I use my old usb hub sometimes I have problems like that.
My computer has issues working with either MTP or PTP so I started using Android Commander (pc app) to transfer files and have not had any issues since.

[Q] Can't get a USB connection, can I just use Kies?

I've never been able to get the USB to work. It always fails to install the MTP drivers. I removed all of the old drivers from my old Galaxy S1, used ccleaner to clean the registry, and despite multiple attempts have been unable to get that pesky MTP driver to install. So my question, do I really need that or can I just use Kies Air to transfer files around for installing roms, or does the GS3 need an actual direct connection?

No need for direct connection. I transfer files to and from my mobile over my wifi network just fine. In my case I use AirDroid, it has a nice UI and is free.
Other option would be to download the drivers directly from Samsung, link found here.
MTP is know to give a few head aches, I have to switch to PTP then to MTP for my laptop to pick up the MTP :/
Yes you can use Keis Air for transferring files.
The phone needs to be connected to the same router as the desktop/laptop you plan on using. Or a direct connection.
The interface is very limited though. Getting it to work properly over MTP would be a better option.
Which cable do you use to connect the S3 to the computer? I had to use the samsung one, else wouldnt work.
Also which drivers? I may have let Windows 7 discover and download its own drivers. That might have worked for me.
I can now use the phone as if it were a usb drive, but over MTP mode.

[Q] PC wont recognise Tab

Im having problems trying to transfer files from my pc to my tab. my pc wont recognise the tab as an MTP device, but in the usb setting it is checked to connect as MTP. my cable is fine and the usb on my computer is fine, the pc does "see" the tab because it comes up as a connected camera but refuses to connect as media device. anyone know what i should do ?
In lieu of a better answer: Kies air. It sucks but it works and I am unaware of other alternatives.

Are you using a custom ROM? I read that it has been a problem in some builds but is now fixed, so if you are using a CM11 ROM make sure you update it.

In some cases it helps if you reinstall the Samsung USB Drivers
I have almost same problem:
Samsung galaxy tab 3 lite rooted, supersu installed.
Before root, my pc recognize tab, after root, does not recognize tab.
Uninstall and re-install Kies and USB drivers with no result.
Can someone help me with a suggestion?
Thanks to all!

Have you checked The USB debugging mode under dev settings?

[Q] Connecting C6506 ZL LTE via USB to Windows system

I recently acquired a Sony Xperia C6506 (ZL LTE). Before I start playing around with this phone, i need to offload some photos. I'm trying to connect the phone to my laptop running Windows 7 via the USB. My system does not recognize the phone. I'm assuming it's because I don't have the correct driver on my windows system . (I've also tried "PC Companion but had no luck there either). I searched the Sony web site for a driver but did not see a specific one for the C6506. Does anyone know where I can find the correct driver for the USB on Windows 7? Or does anyone have any other ideas why this might not be working?
Thanks
I have the same phone and windows 7 recoginzed it and installed the driver by itself. Didn't remember if it downloaded it or found it from the system. Perhaps you can try the PC companion software from Sony.

Thanks for the reply - I've loaded PC Companion and in step two, it never recognizes the device.

What happens when you connect the phone to your PC? Anything? Do you see any messages popping up? Any errors? Do you see it in device manager? Also, do you see any messages on your phone when you plug it in? What USB connection mode is set in your phone's settings? In general, MTP should be the most universal method.
I have the same phone, and it is recognized perfectly by Windows 7 (at work) and Windows 8.1 (at home). When you install Sony PC Companion, it includes the proper drivers, so you don't need to do anything extra (you do need additional drivers for flash mode and ADB, but that's a different topic). I would suggest trying another PC, to see if it makes any difference. If it still doesn't work, it might be something with your phone...
As an alternative, you can use a WiFi connection to access your files on the phone. I often use either ES File Explorer or Software Data Cable - they both provide an FTP service that you can connect to from your PC over WiFi.
Have you tried with another cable? My Xperia is recognized perfectly out-of-the-box on Windows 7, 8.1 and 10, as soon as I connect it, PC starts to search and download drivers, no PC Companion installed nor Flashtool drivers. :/

Yeah, that would be a good option to start, forgot to mention it. I've seen bad USB cables quite a few times, more often than I'd expect...
Thanks again for the quick replies and the suggestions cause they worked - it was the cable. The cable I was using was capable of charging the phone but did not allow Windows to recognize it. I used a different cable and it worked fine. Tharnks again. Now the fun begins changing the phone into a media playing device. If you have any suggestions on this I'm all ears.
Thanks

Unable to transfer files from pc via usb

Hi
I'm quite new to rooting and playing around with roms and kernels. Usually whenever I install a rom on my phone I usually download it on my computer then transfer the zip file into my phone via usb. I noticed a new rom had been released for the P8000 (nexus) and i wanted to try it out so I downloaded it on my pc but I was not able to transfer onto my phone. I got an error message on my pc saying 'could not transfer file, device may have been unplugged or is not responding'. The device certainly was not unplugged as the phone was still charging and I was able to continue browsing through my phone's files.
Have not connected a phone to a pc in ages.. Use droid over wifi!
dunno why that should be but why not just d/l directly with your phone? that's what I tend to do as it's faster than wifi transfer and my pc drivers don't seem to work with my p8000 either so can't connect to pc.
try to enable usb debugging (or disable). i had this some times ago with a samsung phone. connection option als camera could help maybe too.
regards
Maxon
