Best Root/Recovery Method Sticky Please - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

I know this doesn't belong here, but can someone please make a sticky of directions on how to install Chris41G's stock recovery kernel for the noobs? His kernel is the real deal stock and the ONLY kernel that people should be flashing at this point. All others are flawed due to Samsung's inaccurate source release. The custom kernels just cause problems. I wish we could delete those posts to be honest.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk

I'm not being a di*k but his directions are really clear, try to read them few times and you will be good to go.

to say that the custom kernels shouldnt be here is a flawed argument imo... there are tradeoffs.. LoStKernel provides drastic reductions in LoS, and for many improved signal, as well as better performance and battery. then, you add the experimental build.. and you get OC and UV and many other patches not available in stock..
bottom line, its a forum for open discussion, people are here to make their own decisions. I document all of my posted works as well as I can, and answer questions fairly often...

The purpose behind this topic was to try and alleviate all the noob posts regarding LOS. I am well aware of the other custom kernel options but was hoping that we could put an end to all the confusion with these custom kernels. Disregard if you think it won't help people on the fence like me who were not wiiling to give up stock until this solution was available.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk

The term "stock" has been wronged.. to be quite honest.
You have "pulled" which has been faster, better, stronger, and LoSless for me. True stock. Remember that you can make voltage and over/under clock adjustments with the tegrak app available in the market.
Then you have "source" which has been problematic for most. Not true stock. I have tried them all and experienced LoS and lower benchmarks overall.
Choice is always a good thing but clarification is needed.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk

To me its pretty simple....the same it should be for other people nowhere does it say I have to flash anything on the forum its up to me to make a educated decision. But its not up to you to decide what should be in the dev forum....

100% not how I roll... don't forget, some of those other kernels are mine, and other acs members... but regardless that's not a tactic I use.. my work stands on its own..

First, I am not friends with Chris. Second, I flashed his kernel based on the logic that it is actually a stock kernel with CWM added in. I am not dissapointed at all, my phone behaves EXACTLY as it did before I popped my stock cherry. This is the one for people to flash if they want root/recovery on stock, that's all I'm saying.
The fact that it is getting attention is exactly what i wanted. Lets get everyone a reliable root and the devs/future devs can really start cooking.

I am with you.People have the right to flash any kernel they want wow how classless
Plus even though it will not get moved he is getting what he wanted and that is the lets go to chris kernel.
People can read and where is the LOS talk in this thread?
Also you knew this was not the right forum and yet you posted it to drum up talk.

[REQ][CM7] All-In-One ICS look?

Alright, so I saw this guide for CM7 that basically has a tutorial on how to make an all-in-one zip for an ICS look.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1363239
(Obviously we don't need the ring lock, since we already have that on CM7 for us)
So I was curious if anyone would be willing to compile a .zip together for our phones that contains all the ICS Stuff (layout, transition, boot animation, etc)
I'd do it myself, however I don't have availability to a Windows computer.
Thanks

Excuse me? I've helped many people across more forums than just this one. I've spent time online, over text, on the phone, and in person helping people with issues and questions. I've helped with development in the past with noobnl and other devs (though I have what I would consider 0 skill when compared to them) and have helped in beta testing and bug reporting for various things. I've also done rom development and kept up a stable and regularly updated rom and theme for previous android devices I've owned. I even help with questions, concerns, and live walkthroughs for other devices I don't even own. I start **** with no one. I hardly ask questions as I find what I need for myself or figure out most of my issues on my own. So excuse me buddy if I decided to post a (imo) humorical response expressing my appeal towards the suggestion of the OP. Say... what have you contributed?

I don't really have the time or knowledge to do this but I wanted to let you guys know that AChep's ICS status bar mod works great on our phones
Well between themes, widgetlocker, and the new nightly with the ics transitions and rotations we have most of this excluding I guess the layout?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
i made one. but without boot anim, sound, font.
Just layout, transition, lock mod. In my signature
I have all but the layout...

This would be handy to have..
I have sort of manually done much of that with a cm7 theme chooser theme, ics adw theme, ring lock on holo/simple. Looks pretty good.. is there additional theme components from the "layout" you guys are refering to?

ICS releasing in canada

http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/30/samsung-canada-ics-touchwiz-rollout/
I just saw this and thought if they would release it for thier t989(named differently there) and i think i was right. It says GS2 X. i hope somebody releases the code or something as it should be more stable than our version.
This is awesome, I'm going to do a factory restore to stock Telus and get the kernel loaded... waiting for ICS!!! WOOOO!

Update: We’ve heard back from Samsung and it looks like the rollout will start later this week: “The ICS update will be available this week and will continue rolling out to devices and carriers throughout the quarter.”
I guess you have to wait, or you might be in luck and get it.
These people just keep making these stupid threads. Can we not comprehend/understand that there is already a thread for ICS talk?
So we can use the Canada ICS on our devices?

What rom to get

First off I'm sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong section.... what I am looking for is a rom that will make my connection speed faster my download speed sucks I am also looking for a rom that will boat my signal when using my hotspot. I am running swiperrats miui rom I like it but its still not fast enough any suggestions would be helpful thank you guys.. again if this is in the wrong section I'm sorry and point me in the right direction..

I believe you're posting this in the wrong section. As I understand it, this section is for releases and discussing ROM and application development related to the Evo 4G. More generally, this section is for developers and for developers to offer support for their developments, i.e., if you're not a developer, then you're probably in the wrong section if you're starting a thread here.
I would expect that folks would be more receptive to your question in the following subforum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=652
To answer your question, I would recommend my ROM because I believe it is the greatest ROM to have ever been released in the history of all ROM releases.
First, this should be in Q&A, second, click the link in my signature for my guide, look for v6 supercharger, follow the link (It might be at the bottom of the OP), just run 3G supercharger.
Also, try CoD Tweaks
Before this thread gets moved or is closed, I gotta say this. You should totally use an ODJDub HD ROM. I heard they are the best and are eye candy that makes you feel like your phone is leaping out of your hands, it's so fast. You might wanna try one of theirs.

Oh YEAH well I heard that Team D.I.R.T Roms are the fastest EVER.......COME ON guys!!...hahahahaha
If I was looking for a ROM to flash, I would first list what you want in a ROM...go through all the ROMs in the first 3-4 pages of the development section (that should cut the list down to a few) then try a few and make up your own mind! Don't listen to anyone on here because to be honest, all the devs are going to say that their ROM is the fastest and that is so FAST that it does this and that......and the fanboys (follower of ROMs) will tell you the same thing! You can't believe anything that is said because everything is in that person's opinion! Quad scores don't mean **** either so don't go off that.....hahahahaha

Such benchmarks are useful from build to build for judging certain aspects of your rom ....not hardware but. ..I use antutu like crazy to find a sweet spot for say dirty cache settings and cache pressure. ...things like memory or database are not native. ..they go thru Linux and then the vm. ...this allows you to observe just that. ..the behavior of Linux young underlying the vm

No devs don't put out those type of roms because it would be a waste of time.. And it's something a general android user should be able to do themselves.
So just root your phone, download either system tuner or titanium back up from the app store, I would recommend system tuner because it backs up the app you uninstall right away so if you experience problems just restore it right away.
Also search for a safe list of bloat to remove its on here. That should take care of your request.

And I find it sad that every time someone posts a stupid question or something everyone attacks them about how much of a troll they are. XDA is here for a purpose: to help and develop. Not flame other people for asking stupid questions. If someone should post a new thread with a question you feel is worthless, don't reply, just leave it or give an answer to the OP's question and move on without flaming. And that's where Mods come in. They will clean up as necessary. If a post is worthless, the Mods will clean it up. Don't reply to the thread saying Mods do this, do that. Obviously they know what they're doing so let them do their job.
If XDA worked like that, we would have a wonderful community full of people helping people without the unnecessary flaming which always carries on and on especially on development threads which can get very frustrating especially when sifting through threads for information.
Just a little bit of insight into what I think.
