Anyone have this problem with the epic 4g touch and car bluetooth linking?
with my evo, i could activate voice, and it would do the "connecting to phone", then my phone would respond ( i know its my phone because the voice is the phone voice ) "ready".
With the 4g touch, it does the "connecting to phone", then not a darn thing.. no response, and when i talk, it doesnt call ( so i know its not just not saying 'ready' ).
Phone calls still get relayed through the bluetooth like they should to the car, but i cant "command" my phone.
Anyone know a work around for this?
What app were you using?? Mine doesn't do anything like that. I have a Kenwood stereo with Bluetooth and a mic but I can't get the stock apps to use the mic input.

Not using an app... on my evo it was cm7, so maybe a different dialer..
I gotta dink with it and figure out what is and isnt working.

I have been trying to use qik and can only get it to work with when I am calling an Evo device. Any one got any tips or advice?
I did get it to work between mine and my wife's Epic we were both on 4g at the time audio worked on first connect then we got disconnected second attempt we couldn't hear each other. Video was perfect pretty high quality the audio was not perfect though. I will use it but not often. I want Adobe Air video calling app now that should work better only time will tell when we get it.

A friend of mine also has the epic and we figured out that the recipient needs to press a mic button underneath the video feed to be able to speak. We got it to work while we were both on 3g.
While we're talking about Qik, do both parties need to have the app open, front and center in order to receive a call? Without even starting the app, there's a Qik service which I would imagine lets people without it open know they're being called.
Download FRING it works 100% better as long as your 3g service is running...
fring and what?
since fring disabled the skype connection, what are you logged in under to video call? ive tryed everything i could find on here to call from epic to iphone, or at least to a pc, nothing works!
qik works great on evo n 3g but dies on epic in 3g due to epics having 1./3 the up speed of evo in 3g. so if you are in 3g don't bother til the epic 3g speed bug is fixed
Fring itself. You're not using skype to do the video... you need the other person's skype account

+1 for Fring
I think QIK is great app for video sharing, but absolutely awful for video chat.
For starters, why does it distort the video to fill the screen? It makes everything look horrible. When I do get it working, it works so poorly with tons of distortion, and the audio doesn't work for crud.
Now Fring on the other hand, it's not the best quality, but it works. If you're on 3G audio drops like crazy, so it's best to do it on 4g or Wifi.
My trouble with Qik? The fact that their icon is noticably larger than all other icons. Pisses me right off.
I switched to e4gT from evo 4g.. loved the phone at first.. but now getting very annoyed by it..
in fact.. it's a great little computer .. but basically all the phone functions don't work consistently for me.. and internet browsing is good.. but hindered by the slow network speed.. (even with wimax)
GPS... sometimes lock quickly.. sometimes it takes minutes.. using the phone as a golf gps is a joke now because it's never accurate enough... my evo 4g was much better... and yes.. that's after i use gps tools to reset.. update gps.conf via root explorer .. etc etc.. and no.. rebooting everytime is really NOT a solution
Bluetooth... i paired it with my car... and when i get into the car.. it's shown as connected to my car.. and music actually streams to my car audio.. which is cool.. but somehow.. sometimes voice call will NOT get directed to my car's audio... and bluetooth button on the dialer will be greyed out... not sure if anyone else is having the issue ... when that happened.. voice call get NO sound at all.. not from car, not from the headset... as bluetooth is greyed out on dialpad.. i would have to basically disable bluetooth from settings to actually talk
WIFI... every now and then... it will lose connection to my home wifi... a recycle of the wifi will fix the issue.. i never have any problem with my evo 4g.. and even right now.. my other device (iphone 4, ipad) all stay connected.. so i am sure it's not my router.. it's annoying.... and this happens even when my phone is near the router... and almost always happens when the phone wakes from asleep
i kept checking forums every day for solution.. and tried many solutions.. but it's still not working consistently... i am curious because I don't see that many complains from other users..
i am rooted on caulkin's rom with rouge stock EL13 kernel / modem
Bluetooth works well.wifi signal goes up and down.but, stays connected.
Gps for me is an issue.sometimes it takes forever to lock on.and when it does
it doesn't stay connected a lot.coming from an evo.my old evo locked on instantly and stayed
connected, even when it was cloudy.disappointing
EL26 did a lot of changing in GPS files i hear. Check it out! and i havent noticed wifi or bluetooth issues
For the Wifi go to Settings-Wireless and Networks- Wifi Settings-Click the menu key-Advanced-Wifi Sleep Policy should be NEVER.
By default it's set up as when the phone goes to sleep.

If you are experiencing those gps issues something is wrong with the phone. I had the same problem and tried every "fix" nothing worked. Went in to sprint and they exchanged my phone..gps works perfect on the new one

I hope someone can help.. I have been able to use my EVO 4g WITH MIKROM 2.6.1 (Android 2.3.3) just fine to stream music from PANDORA or any other app to my car's bluetooth. Today, it isnt working and I cant figure out why. it will start to play music and then drop the streaming connection. I have good signal so I dont think that is the case. I can however, make and receive calls ofer bluetooth and also play my visual voicemail over bluetooth, However, if I turn off bluetooth, I can play the same app over the phones speaker just fine and it doesnt stop playing. one one app, I can even see that when connected to bluetooth and then trying to play music, it will stop the program (you have to press play on the app again).
any ideas??
Thanks ...
try doing a full reset of the phone by pulling the battery for a few minutes, then try restarting it.
if you installed any new apps try getting rid of them and trying again,
if all elses fails wipe cache's and reflash!
Goodluck! and remember there is always the 3.5 mm jack you can use!
here is some info I found. Its not specifically related to the EVO but it appears 2.3.3 has issues with A2DP streaming music....
Edit: Take a look at this http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=15189 I know this isnt specific to the EVO but it might be a 2.3.3 issue.
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dro...h-audio-3.html This is another post about it although, again, not specifically about our phone.
anyone have a fix? I'm on a custom ROM (MIKROM 2.61) with android 2.3.3 so I bet I have the issue.
For some reason its working right again.

ok here is my issues i got bbasic truck and used my evo 4g everday to watch mileage and other things since i work in my truck all day. then i got the nexus s modded with 4.0.4 and 4.1 and i could pair but all apps fail to connect i get a java.io......... errror in notifications i cant read the rest i clicked on it and it would disappear.. now i got the sg3 rooted 4.0.4 and still have the same issue. says bluetooth error in notifications. nothing underneath it tho.. im starting to beleive its something with samsungs hardware... any one have ideas on things i can try to get this working?
I have tried out a couple of ROMs on my AT&T S3, and I have consistently had one issue on every custom mod that I didn't have on the stock firmware. I have a Bluetooth setup in my car and the phone connects fine, and I can receive incoming calls just fine by pushing the accept button, and Bluetooth will work fine for dialing out if I type in the number on the phone (not the best for driving), however I can't seem to get the voice activated dictation working when using any custom ROM, and my guess is because they all remove S-Voice.
If anyone has any luck using Bluetooth with voice commands in the car or with a headset by pushing the button and then saying something like "Call so and so", please let me know!
Thanks
