I have never downloaded a rom to my HTC Evo 4G before and I'm trying for the first time. I have rooted my phone through Unrevoked and I have superuser permissions and Rom manager. I am trying to download the B.O.S Liquid v1.2 rom and I have placed it in my phone. Then when I use rom manager to install it I select it and restart my phone and it gets stuck on the white HTC Evo 4G restart screen and i have to wait for it to die.
Is there anything i am doing wrong? Please help! Thank you.
Why don't you use the recovery menu to install it. You have to wipe dalvik cache and cache partition first.
Swyped from my sexy EVO.
Sorry I don't know what most of these things mean yet. I selected wipe cache on rom manager before i installed it.
which version of clockwork recovery are you using?
at the top of rom manager it says "current version" or "installed version"
I have the old hboot and 3.0.0.5 gives me issues while 2.5.0.7 is flawless

Dude, no disrespect but you are going to get blasted from others unless you spend the time to research. By the way, you get previous clockwork mods from rom manager, scroll to the bottom. Next time, spend more researching, no disrespect.
I've searched for an hour and can't find ClockworkMod Recovery 5.0.2.7 for the T989. Anyone have a link?

thanks cihkey007 !
I've never tried ROM Manager because, coming from the Optimus V, I know it has caused a lot of semi-bricked phones. I decided to try it for this and it was fast and painless. I now have CWM 5.0.2.7
Just wondering, why isn't there a link for 5.0.2.7 in one of the stickies? Or did I just miss it?
You should try sk8erwitskils recovery. It is a more stable version of touch with swype gestures, volume key support, soft key support, virtual keys, AND it is open source.

Thanks, I was reading through that thread this morning but I wasn't sure how stable it was. I haven't had my S2 long enough to learn how easy or difficult it is to recover from flashing a wrong or bad recovery. I know it was a large PITA on the Optimus V.
So I downloaded rom manager and installed the touch recovery from the rom manager app. Paid the $1.99 it charged me. But the thing is my cwr is the same as what i had installed when I rooted my device two weeks ago. My wires is the same thing and I didn't do anything with rom manager for her. Her cwr is touch as well as mine. Why did I pay $1.99 if I had touch all along?
Also what is CWMR touch installer thats on the play store?

Scroll down in ROM Manager and click on Flash Touch Recovery...
I have the touch installed but i guess i always had it installed when i rooted. I'm just wondering why i was charged $1.99 when i already had it installed and what the cwmr is in the play store.
So wait... you had Touch recovery already installed (anyone can do this for free, he offers the download for free on his website, and it is exactly one command to install it), yet you paid the $1.99 so that you could install Touch recovery... again.... LOL
The touch recovery has always been free. And ROM manager has always been free. You don't NEED to purchase ROM manager unless you want the extra features it provides. But I don't think that includes the touch recovery.
Hey guys, I was thinking of switching to a touch recovery but have heard
Bad things about them. So my question is what is the simplest way to put on phone.
And can I switch back to cwm if I don't like it?

sk8erwitskil's 6.0.1.2. touch is great just flash zip through recovery and yes you can go back to non-touch no problem i have done it more than once.
Just download goomanager from market hit menu and install recoveryscript to get the latest TWRP2.2.2
Hello everyone, I am new to XDA but I have a ongoing problem with my HTC Evo 4G, I'm rooted on my phone but every single time I try to download a ROM it never seems to get passed the start screen. I've tried to unroot but it never ever works for me it still shows the room. I've tried to remove the ROM that never works either. Any ideas? I've tried to unroot and remove the ROM but nothing seems to work. I have SOS 2.0.9 by the way. I tried to factory data reset my phone and remove everything off the SD card but it still seems to be there.
When you flash a rom, are you wiping the system? What recovery are you using? You should use twrp; as cwm sucks on the evo.

Yes...i forgot the name; I ran that when I was still on my evo. Based on amon ra with some re-work...lets you use amend scripted packages, which twrp won't let you do.

What method did you use to root your phone and what recovery are you using? If you don't wipe things like Dalvik cache and data when you flash a new ROM you're just setting yourself up for failure.

I'm using clockworkmod for it. I wipe it and back it up whenever I use a new ROM because I know it will end up not working so I have to reset it. I don't know what twrp is by the way. I don't remember the method because I rooted my phone in 2010 the day I got my phone. I use ROM Manager to download all my ROMs
Stay away from ROM Manager and do everything from recovery. TWRP is Team Win Recovery Project, one of the better recoveries for the EVO. Use it or Smelkus and ditch ClockworkMod, as it is known to cause issues on the OG EVO. Do a search in the Development section for either of those recoveries, install and don't look back.

I downloaded a ROM but when I tried to install it, it said Installation Aborted.
Click the link in my signature for my Evo guide and it'll walk you through everything you need to know
I can't use the PC36IMG.zip because the link doesn't work. But when I went to find it I downloaded it, it said checking and that's it. I went into recovery and I still have ClockwordMOD
For my HBOOT screen it show's
SUPERSONIC EVT3 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT- 2.10.0001
MICROP- 041f
Radio- 2.15.00.11.19
I know there is HBOOT 2.18. But I honestly do not know how to update my HBOOT
