I know another person has posted he/she got out of their contract....plenty have posted about credits ranging from $10-60
I was able to get $150 LOS of service credit and my upgrade back
This is sprint's fault as much as samsung and until I have a fully functional $500 phone that behaves as such, I won't stop relenting against sprint
they screwed the pooch...they should have properly tested this and they clearly didn't
I also have it notated in my account that if this issue is not resolved by the end of this month, I will be getting more credits on a rate of almost $3 per day
we all need to keep the pressure on sprint and force them to fix this issue. once they realize they are losing money by sending out new phones and giving credits, they will take this issue more seriously
Until then, they will just sweep it under the rug and hope we all forget about it
so please report back with what you have gotten
So far I got a $150 credit and upgrade back
ONLY SPEAK WITH ACCOUNT SERVICES. DO NOT ALLOW THEM TO TRANSFER YOU SINCE IT GETS THEM OFF THE HOOK FOR THE SURVEY. ONCE THEY TRANSFER YOU, EXPECT THE CALL TO HANG UP....YES THEY DID IT ON PURPOSE TO GET RID OF YOU
Thanks eye for reposting. Remember ignore the trolls that will try to take over your topic. Very important to keep the pressure on Sprint.
My Results from contacting sprint Account services speaking to REAL manager

I just managed to get my upgrade back. They wouldn't let me out of the contract but at least I have my upgrade back so I can grab a new phone when a suitable one comes out
Win! A $150 credit plus a new upgrade and I can still keep this phone. Just refer to your lemon laws folks!

Yes they are but I didn't mean to call them literally what I meant was that this is a known issue that they can look up in their system so it is a known fact this phone is defective
I just got off of the phone with Account Management & they refused to acknowledge that there is a LOS issue with this device. Refused any type of a credit. I was told to go to my nearest service center & have the tech's look at it.
Super....

Call technical support person have them note your account that this is a known issue. Then call account services since they probably don't have access to that information
I got 70 so far. They said that there was quite a few people that had this problem so they credited me.

Keep calling and your complaint automatically turns into presidential complaint after so many calls...When they say what do you want...be prepared to tell them exactly what you want. No hesitation as they will be more likely to honor your wish.. As the OP said, the more people who call and take money out of Sprint's hands the pressure will be put on WHOMEVER "Samsung/Sprint/" to come up with a solution.

Electronic Lemon Law varies by state but all states are under UCC
All 50 states have a Uniform Commercial Code, also known as the UCC, which governs the way manufacturers and retailers do business. The UCC also offer protection to consumers, including a sort of "lemon law" for certain, qualifying purchases. While the UCC is not the same as an electronics lemon law, it does help consumers recover their money if they end up with a defective product.

This will get you straight through to the employee line which handles customers accounts as well..Don't speak to them regarding issue. Tell them you need to cancel your service and only want to speak to someone who can cancel...They will transfer you to account services. This method is not straight through to account service main number, as it changes to often. You don't have go through prompts to speak to anyone though! 888-603-7981
A lady at sprint gave me $20 and told me that's out of courtesy. When I asked for more, she told me to call samsung and ask the rest from samsung! LOL! Called 3 different times and nobody seems to be aware the LOS bug on our ET4G.
Total $20.

Tip: When you ask to speak to a supervisor which is the only one who can authorize amounts over $30-$40 they will try to pass you to a escalations TEAM MEMBER. Ask them if there title at Sprint is supervisor? They have to say no, and will tell you they can have there supervisor call you in 30 minutes. Tell them you will keep calling till their supervisor calls back. Chances are they will put you on hold and hangup or get there supervisor. Calling back cost everyone at sprint money all the way down to the employee. They all feel it. Oh and be sure your in the right dept "account services"
EDIT Another misconception...Corporate doesn't have to approve anything as you will get from reps.

I can tell you with 100% certainty (by my own experience), you were either lied to or your rep ewas misinformed. I got multiple degrees of credits for LoS, and the ETA for the update is this month, however the update is already posted in the dev section (it came off my phone).

Same here. I pulled up sprint.com/chat for something unrelated and at the end where they are like "is there anything else" I mentioned that I was getting lower-than-usual data speeds and my phone would stop working and need to be reset and have a "no data icon" at the top where the meter should be..."let me talk to my supervisor", bam, $30 "inconvenience credit", 2 months now.
On one hand when I deal with CSRs I take no prisoners...on the other hand Sprint isn't a company I've ever had to get tough with--at all...in the past 6-7 years anyway. I just mention something and it's taken care of. It's the vast majority of the reason why I've stayed with Sprint this long. I don't just get treated like a human, I get satisfaction...without having to escalate the situation.
......AT&T on the other hand, omg, I have never had worse customer service in my life and have never been less satisfied with a company in my life. Sure, I've gotten everything I've asked for, but, I had to plead my case to many levels of supervisors. I imagine less tenacious folk probably give up and just get screwed....
I work in the training Dept at a sprint call center, and what the OP said is usually the SOP. The ideal situation where a customer has and outage or an issue that will be resolved we are only supposed to credit for it once. A supervisor has at their discretion( or dependent on their sites policy) to provide more credits. But if I ever give a credit to a customer for an unresolved Issue I make sure they know this will be the only credit applied for said issue. And if they are calling in for more credits related to the same issue multiple times they will get flagged as adjustment abusers.

Wow... That makes absolutely no sense. If I'm having the same issue due to Sprints piss poor coverage, its my bad and I shouldn't be credited any of my $100 a month premium? Tell me that makes sense... That about sums it up for me....

Coverage is as defined as where we can provide. If you live in an area that we dont list in our coverage maps your on your own But on the bright side if your billing address is listed as no coverage in our system, usually we'll either send you an airave, or account services will let you cancel without ETF's. Now if your in an area that has service and we usually will have a reported issue sure credits can be given. Usually take the MRC of your plan /30 * days without service equals how much service credit we will offer.

as a sprint employee, i can vouch for this as well.
Sounds like it's time to decide whether or not to pay ETFs and switch. If the coverage is so bad, ditch it & eat the $$.

Hey guys, long time no post on XDA.
I traded my iPhone 4s and cash for a Galaxy s3, and I tested it with my simcard in it before the purchased (made a call, texted, etc.) and everything worked great.
I promptly restored it (Cyanogenmod was already installed) and wiped everything to get rid of his apps and pictures and stuff. Well ever since I wiped, and I go to make a call, I get this message:
"We're sorry but this device is blocked on this network."
I've googled and some people (on other devices) have said while running Cyanogenmod, their IMEI has changed to a blocked one.
Has anyone else ran into this? Did I by a stolen phone and it coincidentally stopped working after I flashed.
It sucks because my ONLY PHONE I traded to him AND cash. Hating life lol
Hate to say it.... but it sounds like you got scammed. Whenever buying a phone from someone, especially nowadays, you should ALWAYS do so at a brick and mortar location for your carrier so they can witness the sale of the phone. More than likely, after making the sale, he probably called AT&T or whichever carrier used, and told them that his phone was stolen. They blacklist the phone, and send him a replacement.
It ain't over till its over...!
My advice to you,
If you still have the sellers contact info (e.g. phone number, email address, etc...) go to the carrier store where the phone is from and tell them the story.
Although they will likely be less than helpful, get the names and/or business cards of the representatives that talked to you and write down what they say to you.
With that information, the call logs, text messages, emails, other incriminating evidence and public records listed for the contact information you have from the seller, you can take your issue to small claims court. The seller will be required to show up to court otherwise they will default to losing the case and the judge will side in your favor regardless.
Either way, if you go this route, you'll get back the monetary loss you incurred for the phone you traded, the cash you lost and the value of the blacklisted phone you received.
PSA - I have no knowledge or experience in Law what-so-ever and I am providing this advice simply as an opinion based on my observations of processes
Good luck,
Yeah, on the phone with customer support now, and that's exactly what he did.
They are letting me report mine stolen as well and giving me an early upgrade, but I'm out a phone and money on top T-T

You can still sell the phone on ebay as a "parts only" phone. Just make sure to add in the description what the problem is. I'm betting you'll get $200 or more for it.
Heck, I'll give you $50 right now.
Did you read all the IMEI threads?
I don't know anything about the issue, but I thought some folks were able to resolve it.

I used to do a bit of small claims stuff for a job a long time ago. Let me add a bit of information at least for California. Probably similar elsewhere.
While you can notify the person about the lawsuit and court date any way you want, if the person does not show up, you can not get a default judgement without proving that the other person knew about the lawsuit and court date.
You have to "serve" notice of the claim and court date on the person, which means needing a home or work address to do so. Basically have to prove to the judge that the person knows about the suit and court date. There are rules for who can serve notice and how it can be done. Has to be someone not related to the lawsuit and they have to file an affidavit with the court that they did reach the person and serve the notice. You see this in tv and the movies where the person will hand the papers and say "you've been served". The fee for that person who serves the notice can be included in the claim if it is someone who does it for a living.
The judgement itself doesn't mean automatically getting your money. Collecting on the judgement is a separate thing than getting it. The court just rules, they don't collect. There are several routes to collect, but it takes knowing things about the person. You can garnish wages, or put a lien on their real estate. Or do some other things. But without knowing where the guy works, it is not easy to collect and sometimes costs money to do so.
However, some people will pay upon hearing about the lawsuit. Others will pay it upon hearing about the judgement since it will show up on credit reports. May take some bluffing as well. In this case saying you'd take it to AT&T to support them claiming insurance fraud or something.
Overall, not a pleasant experience, and more time consuming than it seems. But for someone with the time and with enough of a loss, it may make sense.
That's a damn shame, now you gotta take a 2 year contract for no reason. At least he won't be able to use his phone though. Why can't they remove it from the list? Security reasons?
Does this apply to Canada?
I sold a iPhone 4 while still on contract with Fido, called them and told them it was stolen and all I got was too bad lol. I wasn't expecting anything mind you, and a Fido rep actually recommended told me to do this a week prior. I wasnt elegible for a upgrade (too soon on contract). This way, with the cash I made from selling I can pay for the early cancellation penalty, plus have extra for new phone on a new contract. I essentially got a iPhone 4S for free but on a new contract.
I didn't even know carriers helped you out if a phone got stolen. Mine is either in my pocket or in my hands so I don't have to worry about this anyways.
And if this does apply to Canada I will second guess buying from Kijiji or Craigslist. I've purchased so many phones in the past that this has me a little concerned.

you do realize you just admitted to scamming your carrier/the person you sold your phone to right? Even though your scam failed because your carrier was aware of your tactics, it doesn't mean you didn't attempt it.

I never scammed the buyer you tart. Whether I told my carrier it was stolen or I gave my phone to my wife it wouldnt make a difference. With the money from selling I bought my way out of my contract and purchaced a new one. The fact that a Fido rep recommended me to do this goes to show this is not scamming
And I never attempted to get a free phone at all. Like I said, not sure if your able yo read properly but my intentions were never to get a free phone for nothing.

Hey guys,
I need your help. I bought of Craigslist and it was stolen.
I am always cautious, so before buying I requested ESN number from seller and called sprint to check phone, some women answered me and said Phone had no problem and I could go ahead and buy with sellers ask price. So I went to that buy and paid 400$. Later that day I called sprint again to double check, cuz phone was without box, after second attempt guy from Sprint that it was reported.
What should I do. Probably I don't have chance to prove that I bought it honestly. But as every carrier service records customer call, I can prove them that they gave me false information. I thought that owner could report it during that two owner difference between first call and second call but chance of that is very low

It was probably not reported yet. By the time you called again it was updated in the system. So no false info was given. That's why you should always meet at a Sprint store and do the change and activation on the spot. Nothing you can do now.

I don't know what to do, If I call owner he/she may not request to unlock phone, so I'd rather flash
What you SHOULD do is return the phone to Sprint and get it back to it's rightful owner. You can call the police on the person who sold you the stolen property and go after them for your money. It's wrong of you to keep something that you know isn't yours.
Sorry to hear this happen to you. You should have activated it on the spot to make sure it was good to go. And second. Why did you pay $400. The phones worth $300 max

This. Do this.
Some guy ripped me off on an evo, lost $100.
Edit: meant to say the s3 back to it's owner lol
Go to the police, make the report, your likely to get your money back and the evo to its original owner. Do it ASAP or the report isn't credible.

First of all unless this was a factory sealed phone you payed too much. I got my S3 in November 2012 and it was from a 3rd party Sprint seller on eBay, which is highly rated by a lot of people. It was an open box item and flawless, I got it for $350 with a 30 day return policy and some accessories. Second if you ever buy a phone off someone on craigslist make them meet you at a Sprint store and activate it while they are there then pay them, all done in the store in front of the workers. If they disagree say bye. Last but not least that could have been their phone for all you know. They could have sold you the phone that they got on their contract then the next day called Sprint and said my phone was lost/stolen here is my insurance cost of something like $150. They get new phone and make $250. Or they just stole it and sold it to you. So lesson learned I guess for you huh. Also Sprint "may record your call for quality assurance" not they record and keep every single phone made to them for quality assurance.

Only problem there is the seller can always play stupid and say he bought the phone from someone and was not aware it was stolen.

When it boils down to it, OP is now is possession of stolen property, which is a crime.
Go to the police or sprint and give the phone up. You can try to go to the police and take the seller to court. But is that time and effort really worth $400?

Most likely, real owner is covered by insurance, but still it does not matter. I would be glad if someone would return my stolen phone, so I will do the same.. I hope I will get my money back.
Thanks guys

It wouldn't be like that. He just needs to go to the police. Sprint won't refund any money. If he goes to the police, they will figure everything out, and he will get his money back and likely not even have to go to court. Police have access to digital proof via messages or texts or various other things and can easily get it done.
Legally what happened would fall under fraud and robbery. As the item was stated as genuine and non stolen and in working order, and it happens to be stolen and not in activate able condition, that is fraud due to lying about the product, then he took your money knowingly for a broken product and getting away with money as if it was a clean esn. Ignore sprint, go straight to the police. Your money will be recovered and the phone returned to the right person. If it was him saying it was stolen, after the product was sold, then likely he will get the boot from sprint

Hey guys,
I need your help.

Guys. I had that same thing happen to me. Got it off CL, turned out to be stolen.
Typed ##786# to get the number of the previous owner, because when tried calling the guy who sold i to me, number was unresponsive.
So, when i called the real owner she said phone was stolen, i was not smart to call from a blocked numer, but from my cell, so she had all my information and googled me threatening to turn me in for stealing.
I decided to beat her to it, and handed it over to the cops. She then called me mltiple times threatening, to which i replied i no longer had the phone.
Interesting fact, when the cop took the phone, he ran some check and did not find to be tolen, only sprint knew it was stolen, so unless i would have give him her cell, the phone would have probably sat around. They are not as sufisticated as we thing, this is not FBI or CIA, just some cop.
If u return to the police, do the ##786# and call the previous owner to tell them the stoy, otherwise dont waste your time, it took me 3 hrs waiting for cops at the police station to only hear phone is not stolen.

Police don't have any type of access to any digital records and "various other things" you speak of.
Once in court, the judge would have to issue a subpoena. Once issued, Sprint has a legal department that can release certain digital items.
When you print emails, they can be falsified. I honestly don't think cops care for you buying stolen goods as CL is at your own liability. No one is responsible for it but yourself.
I like how if you don't know an answer, people make stuff or voice how they think the world should work.

My whole family is police.. They deal with Craigs list stuff constantly. Most of the time they report results in the person getting their money back and the person who sold the stolen item gets dealt with whichever way they choose to,
Your not getting your money back unless you sell that phone to someone else. If you do that I highly doubt you get the full 400 but at least you get something back. It ain't right but hell I rather take that chance then waiting to take the person that sold you the phone to court . You won't win that case unless you signed a contract or have a receipt. These phones seriously need sim cards like T-Mobile and at&t and the rest of the world and you wouldn't have this problem. Whoever does this to somebody should seriously get a ass kicking, reading this pissed me off. The original owner of that phone sounds like the same person that sold it to you. He got the money then reported it stolen . Good luck on getting your money back but next time just add another line to your service and avoid the hassle.

Yeah I got my S3 from Craigslist in December for $300. I never bought a phone like this before but meeting at Sprint seemed like a no brainer ( and a deal breaker if they won't meet there) Seller had no problem meeting meand as soon as the Sprint rep activated the phone and I made a call on it, I handed her the money. Awesome deal considering the phone was only 2 days old, like brand new, in the box with accessories.
I got lucky that this girl didn't like the S3, and wanted her iphone back
But for the op. Hopefully you communicated with the seller by text. That's a record of the communications you can show the cops when you tell them what happened.
You should have used xda's new market place

Anyone else get a call from Tmobile?
They are looking into whether or not the phone was fraudulently purchased, I don't like the sound of this.
The rep said there is nothing I need to do now, but I should have my receipts and all that in order. I don't know what this means, but it's a bad sign. =(

Did you verify the call was actually from t-mobile? Also, you contact Negri? I personally have not dealt with them, but I would suggest verifying t-mobile truly called me and then taking it up with Negri.
tweaking my note 3-alpha style
Unless some third party tapped into Negri's customer database, it's most likely T-Mobile.
Can't say that I'm surprised something like this would happen.
Actually be very careful who you speak to. Anyone Know whitehawkx, Dev on vibrant/S2 and others, anyway he just tweeted today that someone hacked his T-mobile acct, by saying they were T-mo and asked him to do a survey. Just be careful the info you give out.

Thanks for the warning and I certainly hope it isn't some scam trying to get my information.
But I'm pretty sure it was Tmobile's number (800-937-8997) that was on my caller id and when I called it back it directs to Tmobile customer service. I'm pretty sure it is Tmobile. I've already contacted Negri to see what they say.
I hope this all works out and that I can keep my phone and not get blacklisted.
Just for further information:
They asked where I bought the phone and I told them Negri and how much I paid for it.

It IS possible to spoof a caller ID so that is nothing to go by. I could call you from your bank's phone number and play the old game of social engineering to get your account information the same way. What may have happened is that the Note was stolen or is within the same batch of phones that may have had a shipment stolen. I can't see T-Mobile locking you out of your own phone over this as long as you have a proof of purchase

^^ Yes, this is why I asked if you verified it was truly t-mobile. You can call them back. If they called you, it will be noted in your account. But I do not answer ANYONE, who calls and asks me something. If someone calls me, I will hang up, then call the company after getting the name of the person that supposedly called me. If they have it noted that there is some important information that needs to be discussed, great, but otherwise it is always a terrible idea to answer anything from anyone without verifying. Hell, when you call them they make you give them a pin, answer security questions, etc... There is a reason they protect your identity, I would hope you like to protect yourself from someone else.
Sorry for the rant, I know a few people that have been caught by this type of stuff, and being in the military, they ingrained the "social engineering" aspect into me, so I am cautious about everyone who calls me. But, I am basically saying to be careful. So give them a call and ask them if they called you. This way at least you'll know if it is a legitimate claim or not.

Well thanks for all that. I will try and be more careful. But if it were someone phishing I don't know what they would do with that information -- seems pretty random to me. I didn't even tell them how much exactly I paid for it -- just gave them an estimation.
I verified with Tmobile, it was a rep that called me as noted in my account -- but they did not specifically say what that matter was.
But again, thanks for your tips guys -- I will be far more cautious next time. This is a good lesson for me to never be caught off guard.
That's good to hear. Probably because there are a ton of fake note 3's out there, and they want to make sure you didn't get one of those. They can always seem real enough, or as Flippy125 said, the shipment may have been lost or stolen, then sold without knowledge to vendor. Hope all is well though.
tweaking my note 3-alpha style
It might have something to do with the fact that Negri seems to be selling (or at least has sold) phones that were later blocked by T-Mobile (i.e. they were buying used phones and selling them as new). It's in a thread that I started when I order from Negri (and later cancelled). T-Mobile might be investigating that. I have no proof of that, it's just a theory.
I don't give out any information by period!!

According to an IMEI check, it's blacklisted most likely due to nonpayment. Meaning whomever Negri purchased the phone from -- they didn't pay off the remaining balance of that phone. At least that's my guess.
That should fall back on Negri, if they want to maintain their business anyway. Otherwise I'd be pursuing legal action, which IMO, they wouldn't have a leg to stand on.. Guess it's up to them at this point.. Have you spoken with Negri, what's their position?

I contacted Negri and they told me to RMA it. Has this happened to anyone else before?
Also just in an attempt to go beyond Negri, I tried contacting my CC and Paypal about it but they couldn't dispute the charges given the length of time (about 2 months) since the purchase date.
So far, it seems my only resort is hope that Negri takes care of this.
Btw, I contacted Tmobile and they asked me to write the Legal Department a letter if I want to submit and/or ask for further details.
One of my two note 3s got blocked yesterday, trying to contact somebody at Negri during the weekend is impossible. Called, emailed, and tweeted. Even called the owner. I'll update after I get a hold of someone

Here is my story hopefully this makes its rounds on the internet. No company should EVER treat its customers this way...
I attempted to cancel my order using the cancel button on my order page and was told that I needed to contact the Google Play Help Center.
I called the Help Center and told the customer service representative that I wanted to cancel my order. The woman who answered the phone told me that she was unable to cancel my order as it had already been processed - even though the watches are not scheduled to leave the warehouse until 9/19. I asked to speak to her supervisor.
The customer service supervisor got on the phone and told me that they could not cancel my order as it had already been processed and the order was sent to the warehouse. I reminded him that my order was not even going to ship for another 7 days and therefore he should be able to cancel the order. He told me he was unable to do that. He told me I had to wait until the watches shipped, then refuse the package and AFTER they receive it back, I would be credited the $512. He also informed me that once it left Google, it could take 10 days for me to receive it, refuse it, and then another 10 days to send it back. That is a total of 27 days. I asked to speak to his supervisor and he refused. I asked for his name and at first, he did not want to give it to me. When I pressed him, he told me "David". I asked for his last name and he refused. I asked for an employee number or some other identifier that I could use when writing a letter. He again refused to give me anything. He told me my only option was to wait and refuse the package. He told me that the "leaves the warehouse" date on my order was a "no later than date" and that it could leave sooner. I asked him to tell me exactly what day my order was scheduled to ship - since it had already been processed and sent to the warehouse. David told me that he couldn't give me that information because "IT WAS BACKORDERED"! THEY DID NOT HAVE THE WATCH IN STOCK! They couldn't cancel an order on a watch they didn't physically have-I had to wait until they received a shipment, processed it, shipped it to me, and then refuse it and return it!! I told him that this was absolutely ridiculous and I wanted to speak to his supervisor. He told me he "just remembered" he could cancel an order if it wasn't in stock and he put me on hold. When he came back he told me he would transfer me to shipping and returns and Cassandra would help me. He transferred the call and told me she would be able to help me.
Cassandra told me that she was unable to cancel my order and that I would have to wait for it to arrive, refuse shipment, and allow it to be sent back. I told her that was unacceptable and I wanted to speak to her supervisor, she refused. She then informed me that I had ONE HOUR after placing my order in which to cancel it! ONE HOUR! I told her that was ridiculous and she told me that was their policy. I asked her why there is a cancel button attached to my order if I am not able to cancel it after one hour. She told me she couldn't answer that. I again told her that I should be able to cancel the order when the item is backordered. She told me she didn't know if the watches were backordered and so I asked her to transfer me to the warehouse where I could speak to someone who knew the current stock status. She told me that they don't have a phone in the warehouse!!!! I again asked for her supervisor and she refused. She said "I will pass on your feedback when we discuss customer feedback issues." I said that was unacceptable and she asked if she could help me with anything else. I told her she hasn't helped me at all. She said: "I'll pass on your feedback". End of conversation.
Wow! I didn't expect that from Google Play costumerservice! Like you said that's just ridiculous!! They should easily canceled it

It clearly says on their website that you can cancel as long as it hasnt shipped.
This is complete BULL****! Outright customer deception.
I had a terrible experience purchasing the first nexus 7 from google play. My unit was defective and getting a hold of someone was impossible. They had the balls to remove their contact phone number when tons of people started having issues with their devices and orders. Luckily some websites made a screenshot of their support page that still had their phone number listed. Even with the phone number I was not really being helped. Lots of run arounds and "I can't do that". That experience has left an extremely bitter taste in my mouth from ever ordering any kind of hardware from google play. I think they have gotten better since then but I have no interest in testing that out first hand.

Sounds about status quo for Google. That particular NSA front is pretty bad at customer service.
Thank you, I won't buy any hardware from Google play after reading this!
I remember my Nexus 4 being delayed on the google play store...and then when it actually shipped I paid for the 2 day shipping but it took 4 business days to arrive.
