Wondering if anyone else has this issue. My wifi is pretty weak on my EVO. i had strong connections before, and after, i rooted. But since i started running cm7 my wifi has become very weak. currently, my laptop has full bars, my friend has full bars on her intercept, but my EVO wifi shows only the dot in the wifi signal display is lit up.
Is this a known issue? and is there a fix? as i said, everything was fine when i was stock, unrooted and rooted.
running CM7.1.0, tiamat 4.0.8.
iv flashed several CM7 roms since rooting, all nightlies.
If this has been answered before i apologize. did a search for "wifi" and found no answers.
did u find a fix for this? i have the exact same problem
You may have low bars, as each device [phone] will register the connection strength, but as long as the data is there, nothing to complain about.
Try updating the radio. Somewhere on these forums there is a post with a combo zip that will update all of them all at the same time.

yeah, I had very poor wifi signal and 3g signal with cm7. Liked the look and feel of cm, but with poor wifi and signal strenght, along with gps not working and wifi tether unable to work, I went back to Fresh.

I seem to have signal issues on both ROM's. I'll give you guys a little background information.
I've used Fresh and Myn ROM's and always get perfect 3G coverage in my house and around town. Everytime I flash an AOSP rom I can't seem to connect to anything but 1X (if I'm lucky). When I was using the 2 previously mentioned Sense ROM's I'd have no issues with data. For the record I don't do a restore of my system data or apps when I flash because I prefer to download everything again to prevent FC's and other issues.
I've done a nandroid restore and updated PRL and Profile in a Sense ROM (2X) and then restored my AOSP ROM (ultimate droid) and that doesn't fix signal issues. My girlfriend has an Evo and she gets perfect signal on 3G (4G as well but she has it off) so it's not network related.
I downloaded the latest radio and pri from the development thread and flashed them in recovery. That didn't do anything at all and may have been a waste of time.
I then did these steps:
Dialed *#*#463+#*#*
Clicked on Phone Info
Turned off Radio (waited 1 min)
Turned radio back on
Ran ping test (failed because of no data signal). I can make/receive calls but nothing data related.
Is anyone having this issue? This has prevented me from fully enjoying AOSP ROM's and I don't know what the issue is. I'm using the latest PRL but could it be that my radio is broken? I would ready appreciate any help.
*** Update ***
I'm typing this thread on my phone and it's displaying 3G in full bars and then jumps to 1X full bars. It's kind of random but never steady. If anyone can please help me with this I'd appreciate it.
By the way I have an Airrave. Could that be the cause of my problems?

Same. i have this issue. although i dont get 1X. but i do however get spiking signal.
from what ive learned, the bars arent ur reception but how good ur connection is to the....satelites? aslong as u have 3G showing ur phone/internet SHOULD be working. although i would rather like to see all full bars where i normally would
i'm in a pretty high 4g signal area, but i love ultimate droid. i too have loopy 3g using cm6 or ultimate droid, would gladly give up my 4g to use either of these roms, but the 3g performance is way slower than on a sense rom. it's not just the bars, 3g on aosp is almost unusable, on sense roms, it works nicely
I solved my issue. The root of the problem is the Airave and how it connects with AOSP ROM's.
When I flash a Sense based ROM I don't have an issue with 3G and signal. I'm in a perfect 3G area by the way.
As soon as I disconnected the Airave last night my 3G signal came back with a vengeance. It hasn't left and is steady. I plugged in the Airave again and I saw my signal disappear and never come back. I could make/receive calls but no data access. I have the latest version of the Airave. Could someone (DEV) of an AOSP ROM investigate this issue. I knew it wasn't my phone because it would only happen in AOSP ROM's.

After searching for a solution for a while, I was not able to find one. Apparently I am not the only one with this problem.
I used to have signal in the entire street with this phone, and as long as I was inside the building, the signal was "excellent".
After an update came out, the Wi-Fi signal has dropped significantly.
Now I should be happy if it connects when only a few meters away from the Wireless-N router!
All other devices in this network, including an HTC Sensation, have no problems with the signal at all.
I have contacted HTC and they were "looking into this matter". But it has been a while since this problem appeared, and I am afraid there is not going to be any fix by them.
So I decided to root my phone yesterday, using this guide and I am currently using Android Revolution HD together with the RADIO provided in that thread.
Now it seems to have a slightly better signal, however there are no white bars shown on the Wi-Fi icon, while it states that the signal is "excellent" at the Wi-Fi search screen. The connection also still drops frequently.
I am definitely satisfied with the results, but I do need this Wi-Fi problem fixed.
Is anyone here familiar with this problem, and is there anything to be done about this?
This was a problem with Lees kernel. Good signal, just not being displayed correctly.
Turn WiFi off/on, and it should work.

That is the very first thing I tried and it did not help.
Did you wiped all data before flashing with the tool provided in ARHD-thread?
Yes, I did.

First Backup your current ROM. Try to find RIL matching your RADIO. it might help you
Have a look at this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1040986
I am already using the RADIO provided in the Revolution thread.
I am currently running CM 7.0.3.1 with Tiamat's latest non sbc kernel and finally got a chance to be in a 4g area last night to test it out. The Wimax turns on just fine, searches, finds, and connects to Sprint with a really good signal. However, I cannot connect to any web pages making it seem like I have no internet connection. All the while, 4g says connected with nearly full bars. I did a search but couldn't find anything relevent. Any help here?? As an aside, I flashed back to one of my other Fresh backups and didn't have this issue.
Bump......
So I recently flashed to gb rom starskyrom.. everything seems to be working fine but lately, 4g connects and doesnt find ip address. Ill have an idle 4g icon ( sleeping zzz...) but when I go to wireless settings>4g settings> and check the sprint 4g network it says ip address 0.0.0.0... but I'm connected? Because it thinks I'm connected, it won't fall back to 3g.. anyone else experiencing this? Does it have todo with signal strength? Maybe my rom?... but it was workin before... my modem? Any thoughts

Just got back from work, the 4g is broken on starsky 4.0, not sure how I thought it was working, but its not.
Not sure what would cause it, I'm also using starsky and have no problems with 4G.
Try the basic fixes
Reboot
clear and re flash
etc
If that don't work, it may be a problem with the network in your area.
Like the day I started trying ei22 roms and utah had its 3g die. I could not figure out what I was doing wrong.
So you have the same symptoms as described above?
So I've had my VZW Galaxy Nexus since launch, and have absolutely loved it. It is by far the best phone I've ever had, and I've had zero problems with it... except for recently.
For the past few months I've had a problem where my signal bars get greyed out and I can't access anything, even when it shows I have full signal. This will happen on 3g, 4g, and wifi, and sometimes toggling airplane mode on and off will fix it, but most of the time I have to just wait for the connection to come back on it's own.
I've read about signal issues plaguing the Nexus, but I always thought it was just where it showed no signal at all. Am I experiencing the issue, or is it something else entirely? And is there anything I can do to try and fix it other than getting a refurbished phone? I have tried every radio combination out there, and have settled on the latest radios (l515.09 V.FF02 / l515.FG02) and the issue has persisted throughout.
TLR - Phone will often grey out bars and I can't connect to anything. Happens in 3g, 4g, and wifi. Is this the signal issue people have been talking about or something different?

Try getting a new Sim card. I've read on other Gnexus forums. That's good fix for the gray bar issues. other solution take out the Sim card and let it sit for a minute or 2 then pop it back in. Lastly a factory reset.

a signal drop is when your device's antenna looses conection to the nearest cell (tower, mobile transmission equipment) totally.
a data drop is what you're experiencing.
this is on stock rom, correct?

It has happened on stock rom. Right now I'm on AOKP JB Build 4 with the 20120726 gapps from goo.im/gapps.
