Hello all!
I'm trying to get root access following this: http://theunlockr.com/2011/08/02/ho...android-phone-using-the-revolutionary-method/
Everything has worked flawlessly until the root access part...
I cannot get it to mount the sd-card so that I can put the root.zip...
I have a stock HTC Desire with Hboot 1.02.0001
Please help me - now I have finally decided to root my Desire after owning it for over a year!!! ;-)
Which recovery did you flash?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Hello and thanks for the quick reply!
I just followed the guide and presses y - didn't see that I had an option to choose one...
When I hold down voloume and power I get to some pink and the text (I know I don't know the correct terms... ;-) )
BRAVO PVT 4 SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-6.93.1002
MICROP-05ld
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101
RADIO-5.17.05.23
And then if I press recovery
I get to Revolutiuonary CWM v4.0.1.4
Ok.so does it give an error when you try to mount?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
HEY I just solved it!!!!
I just had to select reboot recovery...
I'm now a superuser off to CM 7.1!!!
Edit: I also removed HTC SYNC in programs
Hmmm still cannot mount sd-card in recovery...
Found out when trying to install a new rom - and wanted to backup - it said again cannot mount sd-card...
Using Kingston 16 Gb class 10 cd-card
I'm not a fan of that version of clockworkmod. I've seen loads of issues with it. Try fastboot flashing cwm 2.5.0.7 or amonra 2.0.1
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
OK! I have now got CM7.1 on my desire! YES!!! (Eventough I don't know how to use it... I just want to set it up with my googleaccount...)
Basically if you get a cannot mount sd in recovery - you just go to "advanced" and select reboot recovery"
And now you can see your sd! NICE - and easy...

That information is helpful to me , but does it suport installation of sense 3.0 based roms with cwm 2.5.0.7 or amonra 2.0.1 ?
I got CWM v4.0.1.4 installed as part of revolutionary s-off , used amonra 2.0.1 long back and found very stable.
If i want to rollback to cwm 2.5.0.7 or amonra 2.0.1 what could be the steps ? Can you help me ?
Yes it does support.
You need to fastboot flash recovery. Fastboot faq in my signature

Hello everybody,
I just rooted a desire with slcd with one click i put in amonra recovery. Everything went fine. Till i want to go in recovery. I get a black screen but i'm sure there is the recovery. When i do some things with the trackball and i went back en move a couple a times up and press the trackball the foon reboots but then it is stuck and i think it is because of a bad ROM install.
What to do? My uncle will kill me.
How do i get the recovery to see?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
youve rooted it and put on a recovery for pre-slcd device.
theres a fix somewhere deep in here. can you boot into the os and see the screen or is that blank aswell?
also this should be in a different section
I can not boot into the ROM and i just did the unrekoved
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
unrevoked 3.21? or an earlier version?
try booting and leaving it for a bit. if all is well and its just a dead screen then it will be booted, you just cant see as the screen is dead, check device manager in windows and see if it shows adroid device (adb or my htc) in the list
run unrevoked 3.21 again and let it flash clockworkmod and not amonRA
Can u see the device ok adb??
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Moved to Q&A as not development.
Yes the device works in adb. When i run top i can see whats happening.

Isn't there a . Img for the device and run that thru fastboot? Because that is working but what .Img do i have to take?

If you are able to get into bootloader unroot the phone and it will be solved. The best and easy way is via bootloader, just download a stock froyo zip put it into the root of your sd card and go into bootloader, no need of getting into recovery
Getting this error when puting in a PB99IMG
checking: PB99DIAG.zip
no image
checking: PB99DIAG.nbh
no image or wrong image
checking: PB99IMG.zip.
This takes a while and then
Main version is older!
update fail!

you can only run fastboot img for recovery when you have s-off.
please boot normally and leave it for 5 mins to make sure its loaded( you wont be able to tell cos of black screen)
connect device and when connected run unrevoked 3.21 and allow it to flash clockworkmod recovery

hello,
it's yet me!!
I'd like to S-OFF my HTC Desire:
it's an A88181 (see here: http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=2251&c=htc_desire_htc_bravo ) so a GSM one
It have HBOOT: 0.75 / S-On
and:
Androïd version: 2.2
ROM Radio: 5.14.05.17
Kernel version: 2.6.32.15
Build number: 2.29.405.5
Software: LeeDroid v2.3d A2SD+
Browser version: Webkit 3.1
is it possible?
what HBOOT take/choose?
what PB99IMG? what is it PB99IMG? what use?
what must I do before? (nandroid is done)
thanks
Follow this guide:

(remove spaces between www)
if you don't know how to boot from a usb drive/cd you just go into BIOS (press either F2, F10, del, or esc while booting, different computers use different keys), navigate to boot order/boot options and move you cd drive/usb port up top.
I did this on my A8181 and it works flawlesly
Just read the S-OFF thread on here - don't need to go to another site
I did it, everything seems OK, but the Phone don't boot: it stays eternally at the first splash screen
did I brick it?
In Bootloader, it displays that:

already tested to flash LeeDroid 2.3d ROM: no luck!!
I have Clockworlmod recovery, v.3.0.0.5: it's via it, I flash the ROM
but it seems there is hope! Good news!!
Maybe the HBOOT Oxygen is the problem. I don't think LeeDroid fit into oxygen table. Try to flash another HBOOT
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
The alternative hboot doesn't change the size of the internal memory, it just changes partition layout. Leedroid will never fit the oxygen hboot. Is you want to keep using leedroid use stock bravo layout or slim the rom down yourself and use bravo sense.

Unfortunately, yes. If you accidentally flash a corrupted HBOOT image, your phone will be bricked. You can read more about the s-off's risks on alpharev site.

Yes, I used Bravo Oxygen: I'll try Bravo Data ++
is it good for LeeDroid 2.3d?
Ok done, no change
- flash Data++
- full wipe
- flash LeeDroid
same thing!
The DATA++ table do not fit the LeeDroid. Maybe you should flash the bravo stock table instead

Thanks for U XDA!!!
are suitable for the HTC Desire PVT4 devices. I had a lot of issues recently trying to downgrade to a stock rom, but with help from the forum I am running LeeDroid.
Seems I have very little space for app`s etc on the handset itself.
Thanks
It depends what you prefer... you can pick a lot from development section:
AOSP
Sense
MIUI
Your call

I have had a look at a few m8, but I thought there was a problem with the hboot on pvt4 devices or will most rom`s work?
I got pvt4, I'm flashing nearly every week as updates come out, I'm rooted and s-off, got a brick recently as recovery crashed during flashing, easily sorted under 1.5 hours
I also have a PVT4 and have flashed ROMs with no issue. I only recently went S-OFF and changed the HBOOT. Best thing I did, the extra storage is brilliant.
I had issues with LeeDrOiD 3.0.8.2 A2SD but after more research that was probably a result of restoring some system data with Titanium. Live and learn.
I'm currently using the OZ version of InsertCoin Data++ with no issues at all. But I am interested in looking at the MIUI and ASOP ROMs soon.

The problem with *some pvt 4 devices is they have erase size of 40,000
From terminal emulator:
Code:
cat /procmtd
to check.
Cwm 2.5.0.7 is designed for erase size 20,000 so if you have 40,000 use amonra 2.0.1.

Why using archaic recoveries when we have new and not dead ones?

Thats what causes PVT4 Desire handsets too have problems with ROM/Manager ..Clockwork etc.
Must admit guys I am a bit of a noob to this, but the more I read the better I will get.
I learned a bit a couple of years ago about flashing Dbox`s for Cable box`s and thought we were dealing with a similair type of system I have had my eyes opened.
Thanks for the advice anyway Much Appriciated

Any chance of explaining this m8 ,,,, Noob needs it spelled out
Basically you have Amon ra and cwm recovery based recoveries... Amon ra and RMD recovery are not developing anymore... I did not see update for long time... CWM and 4Ext recovery still developing, I was using both as I got brick twice with 4EXT I tried RMD, happy with it no problems so far in 3 months/about 100 times used for flashing, hope this will help

i am unsure on the hboot although if you tell me the possible options i can probably remember. i think it is 0.93.0001
he is using clockworkmod recovery uh the latest version. 5.x
he has no sd card partitions other than the fat32 1.
the rom he was previously using was official GB > miui > oxygen > runnymede > failed to boot and now stuck in bootloop but cant flash back to stock.
can you even get it into fastboot? ive had this recently, i used fastboot flash and then all the required things. It was my radio that was causing the bootloop. so as soon as i flashed that it boooted fine.

i didnt even know their was a fastboot for htc desire i use a xperia play which has fastboot never knew htc desire did . where can i get the files i need to flash? i guess the fastboot is the same as the fastboot.exe for xperia play? please send me link i am complete noob to the way HTC work.
Memories (even if they are right) does not help at all.
So tell your friend the following:
He should turn off his Desire, then press and hold volume down plus power button until a white screen with the androids at the bottom appears (he should see HBOOT in capital letters, blue highlighted). Now he should tell EVERYTHING what's written there and you post EXACTLY that here.
After this done, advise him to press the power button. Now he should see FASTBOOT in capital letters, red highlighted. If that's so, ask him turn off his Desire. If that's not so, let him tell you what happened instead and you post that here.
sorry late reply the hboot is the .93 one I said above.

I'm still on clockworkmod myself, I've gotta give 4ext a go sooner or later as everyone says it's better. I've left my recovery as is since I first rooted the phone and its always done everything I need. I just avoid using things like sd partitioning as I know it has issues.

Try to go to recovery manually instead of going through the recovery via the menu on rom manager. You will probably boot with the new recovery. But yeah go with 4EXT Recovery its time you use something way better.
