Phone wont charge - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

It says
Your phone is using more current than the charger can supply.
It happened out of nowhere too. Its weird. Any suggestions. I've tried reverting back to old Rome I had backed up. No luck. I've also tried a 3rd party extended battery. No luck there either. I originally rooted with the revolutionary root tool. How can I unroot and go to stock in case I need to have Verizon look at it ?

Tried my wall charger. Car charger and USB cord. Same result. Maybe my charging port is going out ?

That could possibly be it. It seems the charging port was built poorly

I just held down the USB cord down with my hand and was able to charge the phone without the message popping up. Now I just need help unrooting. It seems there are two ways of unrooting depending on the way u originally rooted. I rooted with the revolutionary tool and can't find out how to unroot. I could only find instructions on how to unroot if u rooted using alpha revx

it is the same way, you just need to flash the stock hboot and thats it.
also seems like the usb ports on these phones are constantly goning out it's happened twice to me on brand new dinc 2's

So I got back to the stock 2.2.1 Rom with s off by following the alpha revx unroot procedure. I want able to change my hboot though. Tomorrow I'm gonna see if I can get a replacement. Wish me luck lol

you can change hboot by flashing cwm and root files to the phone then using adb over wifi and use the unroot guide then update to gb, i did it 2 days ago

EVO Won't Charge

I used to be able to charge with any charger like my old blackberry charger, igo charger and now the last two days it won't charge with any of them but the one that came with the phone. Has anybody had this happen to them? Any suggestions?

What Rom and kernel are you using?
I've been on decks forever and it just started this the other day, stock kernel, i tried timat something, I switched to miui stock, and still something. So I don't think it is the Rons causing this issue.

very possible that your usb port has either come off the board or port failure.
for port failure:here
usb replacement...options are sprint warranty or find 'experienced' local persons that can do it.
Should I unroot before taking it in? I'm sure I do but thought I'd ask.

[Q] S-off without usb?

While trying to flash the new rcmix3d rom I encountered an error while trying to flash it. Someone came to the conclusion that it was the hboot version I was using and recommended I upgrade it.
I took the advice and upgraded hboot to the latest 2.16, flashed the rom and finally gave me no error. The rom booted up but I realized while trying to get rid of bloatware after every reboot it would all come back.
Checked Hboot and apparently I lost my s-off, which I didn't know was gonna happen. So now I'm back to s-on, still have my ra 2.3 recovery, and apps are still able to establish root within the rom.
Problem is I want to get my s-off back but from what I've read you have to have ur phone connected and use adb but the usb port of my evo broke a while ago. Is there any other way I can get s-off back? How about using adb wireless? Any help is appreciated.
That's pretty wierd... but no you will need to use the USB cable. The computer needs to be able to reboot your phone to boot loader and a few other things so the wireless adb won't work since the rom isn't booted up during 75% of the root process. Best bet would be either be trying to wiggle your USB cord in your phone till it connects and re-root or run an ruu from your SD and get back to 100% stock and take it to sprint for a replacement. Since your USB port is considered a manufacturer defect they will give you a refurb for $35. I would know since my evo bit the dust on Christmas and got a refurb yesterday.

My usb port is just completely broken it just moves around everywhere. I actually tried going in to a sprint store about my usb port and they completely just told me to file an insurance claim even though I said it was considered a manufacture defect. I might try again though, you've given me a little bit of hope. lol
Can anyone tell me what benefits do I lose by having s-on? Looks like I'm stuck like this so I'd like to know what ill lose. I know now I can't get rid of bloatware with titanium backup and that sucks and I can't update Su binary anymore, but what else?

That's worse than I thought...so if I at one point wanted to switch to twrp I wouldn't be able to? I mean I have ra 2.3 right now and I'm quite satisfied so I don't think ill be trying to switch. Not being able to flash some roms is really a big let down. I need to get this USB port fixed.

Mini USB port broken

I have had my evo for about 6 months. About a month ago I noticed none of my computers were able to recognize my phone any longer. I decided to just use FTP for transferring files. the other day however, my wall charger stopped working. I now have to wiggle it around until its in just the right spot to charge. My phone is rooted with custom rom etc. What should I do about this? Take it to sprint or mail it to HTC?
This is not damage from anything I have done, so I really don't want to pay $100
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
Either place you'll get a refurb.
Good thing about htc is that youll get your housing back, just a new board. You can either throw a stockish rom on there or unroot it. Its a matter of opinion on which should be done.

Thanks for the reply
Will both charge me 100$ most likely? A friend told me HTC might not charge me.
I can just flash a stock rom without having to unroot? I also have a custom bootsplash.

I just did mine with HTC for free because I didn't think i would get a refurb. sprint will also be free if you have tep.
I would advise fully unrooting for HTC.

Same problem, seems to happen to quite a few people. I don't feel like wasting my time sending it in, and just use a wall battery charger, along with 2 Anker 1700 batteries, so I always have one charged at all times, its easy to switch the new when when needed. I like it much better than having to have the phone connected to a charger, I never worry about that now. Two Anker 1700, and two stock OEM batteries, and Ankers seem to get quite a few more hours of life, amazing boost for such a cheap price for two batteries and a external battery wall charger.
What would be the easiest way to unroot in your opinion? I don't remember the method I used to get root.
That's a great idea about the batteries and external charger. I will definitely keep that as an option. Thanks.

Your unroot method depends on the method you used to root. If you go to the bootloader and it says revolutionary at the top and you have hboot 6.16 then you s-offed with revolutionary. If you have s-off with hboot 2.16 or lower you used unrevoked

It looks like I used unrevoked as my hboot is lower than 2.16. Should I follow this guide? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1151733
Or is their a more up to date method?
I had the same issue. I went with the spare battery and wall charger route myself. seemed easier than unrooting and using insurance. being this way for 6 months now, and its really not an inconvenience. just gotta change the battery once a day.

Yeah just download and flash the s on tool zip in recovery and download the PC36IMG.zip to the root of your sd card and then boot into the bootloader and let it update that PC36IMG.zip
Reboot and then power off and back on while holding volume down and check to make sure your s on. That should be it.

Problem with phone charging.

My phone has been continuing to say that its charging after I unplug it. I've tried a new battery a new charger and wiping my battery stats. Has anyone else encountered this or know a fix?

If it were me, I'd Odin one click back to el29 stock rooted and see if it still happens.
Before doing anything, did you try to 'fix the permission' from the recovery and see it's still showing charging?
I don't think my computer or the phone recognizes the connection between the two for me to odin . Ill try fixing the permissions now and let you know if that works.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
mobile odin is your friend whenever the computer refuses to acknowledge your phone's presence.
OK fixing permissions didn't fix it so I guess the next step is to Odin a stock rom. Can I use mobile Odin to flash a full stock unrooted rom?

I had this exact problem last week. Just one day it continued to tell me that it was still charging even though it was unplugged. Also, it would randomly say "USB Connected" throughout the day. I think it may have been caused by the fact that I started using the Kindle Fire charger to charge it (it just happened to be conveniently by my bed). The Fire charger is much larger and I'm guessing higher voltage.
But I tried restoring to stock, jiggling/cleaning the usb port, and every other thing I could find on the internet, but none of that worked. I just took it in to Sprint, a technician confirmed the problem, and ordered me a new phone. Painless.
But I do have TEP... If you don't, I heard that instead of just swapping out your phone, they'll order another USB port and just swap that out instead.
Why don't you just mobile odin EL29 stock rooted? If your phone won't charge, you could get an external charger and charge batteries outside the phone. You could just rotate the batteries and always have a backup. There should be a link to the unrooted tar for EL29 in the one click odin EL29 post. Just follow the directions. No need to hold your hand, it will work, just read first then follow the directions.

You have corrosion in your charging port. Take your battery out, get a nice stiff-bristle paintbrush or a tooth brush, scrub your port out really well with alcohol. Make sure you dry it thoroughly before powering back up.

Got an s3 for the better half and it came in today.. Will my drivers I installed for my note do the trick or will I have to mess with them and reinstall? I figured I should prob be good but wanted to check.. Mine were installed per the tool kit. And I plan on using the s3 tool kit for her root..

I've had nothing but problems on 2 different Galaxy Note 2 phones since I installed the drivers from the SPH-L900 toolbox.
I have trouble believing that this is normal. Mine was fine until I rooted it with the toolbox. Now, I don't want to take anything away from the developers that created the toolbox...If it wasn't for them and their immense generosity, then I wouldn't have a rooted phone. I just fail to see what has happened between having the phone stock without root and it having zero issues with hardware id missing and being able to be recognized by my pc, to the quick toolbox root and the same troubles with 2 different phones in 2 weeks.
I don't say for certain, but it looks like they use the same software: USB GS3: ver 1.5.14 versus GN2 USB ver 1.5.14. Thus, you'll probably be ok.
Are you using the usb cord that came with the phone? If you are throw it away, its worthless. Had that problem with my s1

Actually no. I'm using the cheapy i keep always attached to my pc. I have to use the one that came with the phone with the mhl adapter because the cheapy cord has too much resistance and not enough power goes through which causes excessive battery drain
