Hi,
I have a question,
I recently updated to the Generic v4.0.1.A.0.283 firmware, and have the 8x55A-AAABQOAZM-203028A-49 baseband.
Does this baseband include the ROGERS/AT&T north american 3g frequencies? and if not what should I do.
Ever since I started using these generic roms my reception seems to be a bit dodgy, I don't get 3G reception in a lot of places where I should be getting, which makes me wonder if I have HSDPA 850Mhz enabled.
Nevermind, found it

I have bought a HTC Desire Z from Bell Aliant, Canada and now I have came to India.
I noticed the fact that the 3G frequency used by Bell, Canada is 1900 MHz and my phone is built to receive that signal but the 3G spectrum allotted to Indian telecom providers is 2100 MHz, so my phone isn't receiving any 3G signal.
One of my friend told me that if I flash a radio whose baseband frequency matches with the frequency used in India, then I may receive 3G signal.
Can someone please suggest which radio version should I flash so that I may receive 3G signal.
I'm using Virtuous Trentacinque-beta 2 on my HTC Vision.
My current phone details are:
HBOOT : 0.85.005
Radio : 26.03.02.26_M
Kernel : 2.6.35.14-UNITY-V10-g6b8d035
Baseband version : 12.28b.60.140eP_26.03.02.26_M
Thanks in advance.
Disclaimer: I consider this to be an educated guess, I do not know whether this is scientifically sound or not.
The radio version that you're using seems to be comparatively old and is from an official T-Mobile ota, which was most likely only intended for use on the g2 version. As far as I know, T-Mobile USA's 3g also operates on 1900 MHz.
I'd suggest trying a radio version which shipped with a wwe (world wide edition) ota. The latest wwe radio is: Vision_Radio_12.56.60.25_26.10.04.03
All tested radios for the g2/dz can be found here, which is also where I took the above link from.
Hello Folks,
I have flashed CM7.1 stable official MOD on my friend's Defy which worked great with a annoying problem with baseband.
Before flashing CM7.1, the phone was having Stock 2.2.2 and was having no signal reception issues. We were getting good signal like -51~63 dBm / 24~32 asu with stock ROM. Flashing caused NO SIGNAL at the first, after which I tried changing basebands with included switcher and then installing from a thread in xda. We managed to get connected, but the signal is -105~90 dBm / 4-12 asu.
The problem is there is no frequency band 900/1800 in the baseband switcher. The closest and officially listed for India is 900/1900 which might be good for most operators using 900MHz.
We are on Airtel in Kolkata and it seems they operate at 1800MHz here in the city. We are getting low signals due to being on 1900 baseband.
An xda fellow has tried to remedy this by getting baseband from stock ROM at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=944258&page=3#30 but this does not get flashed with the Stable and Current CWM on the phone, it's incompatible.
I am unable to post at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1052745 as I don't have much posts here. Though it seems if the great guy here can bring 900/1800 for India, it would be greatly appreciated by many.
Note that, some Indian users, even Airtel users may not face this as in most circles they use 900MHz frequency band. It will only cause issues to the Users in 1800MHz operator circle.
Can anyone have a solution or at least some experience of this, I've done research as much as I could do.
Thank you
Hi there
I'm on Cell C in South Africa, and seem to be having a similar problem with CM7.1 - Cell C also operates on 900/1800MHz. Did you ever manage to find a compatible baseband?

We haven't been able to find a solution while it was in 1800 area, I shall ask my friend if the updated switcher has this. The cell is currently in 900 area so there is no problem with band for now.

Both these versions have Indian baseband frequencies taken from the official SEA rom (900/2100). I dont think it is 900/1800

Will try your suggestions, but it's 900/1800 for 2G, 2100 is called 3G here.
Hi everyone,
It's always been known that there is a 900/2100 Defy and an 850/1900 Defy.
I got mine from my 850mhz carrier in Australia. I am visiting Hong Kong at the moment. I purchased a one2free SIM (900mhz network), changed my baseband, and got on data with full HSPDA! I can download around 200kbytes a second.
Thought I'd share for fellow travellers.

Hi, how did you change the basebands to HDSPA 850/1900?
Look up "baseband switcher for defy" in Google. You'll be surprised. It's not really news...
Thanks for your answer, but I have a Defy+ with cm7. I tried with basebandswitcher and baseband of cyanogen but didn't work, they didn't change frequencies and the phone lost signal. Do you know why? Thanks
As title states,
I own an N7105, originally bought in Hong Kong to be used in Hong Kong.
I am now in Canada, Toronto to be exact and I am using Rogers as my network provider.
2G,3G and 4G all work fine, but not sure about network coverage. I use a N7105XXDLL5 baseband on my current ROM.
My battery drains like crazy when switching between a low 3G coverage to 2G or low 4G to 3G.
So I was wondering, which modem should I use to have the best coverage in Canada/Rogers? Since all modems in the N7105 (International) means support for carriers outside of the North American carriers, as they have their own variants sold.
Or, should I just stick with my current baseband as it is more 'international', 'widely used' or 'all rounded'?
Much help appreciated,
Nicholas
Anyone know?
No one knows?
Hi, I've been trying to figure out how to do is, but I have hit a few road blocks. Hoping someone can give some insight on my problem.
I recently got a Optimus G E975 from my friend after I dunked my BB in water... She got the phone in Hong Kong and is unlocked. I have a LTE SIM card in the phone, however it is only fully functional under EDGE.
What I had done so far - minimal results:
Rooted the phone - successful
It stays on the edge network even when there is a faster connection available in the area.
Changed the APN to ltemobile.apn instead of the rogers-core
I went into the secret menu (*#*#4696#*#*) and forced it to only connect to LTE/WCDMA. When I do this, it connects to 4G but with low signal. Everything works except calling. I can text, surf and download, but I cannot receive or call unless I bring it back to EDGE.
If I am not mistake, it has something to do with how Rogers uses 700/2600 (band from E971) for LTE but the E975 does not support 700 only 2600.
My question is: Is it possible to flash the modem of the E975 so that it can use LTE properly? Even 3G (HSPA) will suffice.
Thanks in advance.
