You can't expect a Rom that's not even suppose to be on our phone to be fully functional and stable. It was originally said that our phone wouldn't be able handle sense 3.0 but these devs proved everyone wrong. They ported it over and little by little the bugs are being worked on and being improved. It's not yet completely stable but I use it as my daily driver and the only problem I have is with battery.

The above statement is true. For example, HTC EVO has the older version of Sense. Truth be told, since Sense 3.0 isn't native for the EVO, or the official rom that was designed for the EVO, one can expect maybe a second lag and the occasional unstableness.
I myself am running 2.3.3 with Sense 3.0 on my EVO, credit due to "Virus," one of the many genius devs here at XDA.
Remember, our phones are like world and life -- not perfect. The devs on the other hand -- pure genius -- FACT!
yea your right but i did my research on the sense 3.0 and i never came across them saying htc evo coudnt handle it and in some of the reviews i was reading bout the rom before i try it they said it was pretty stable but the devs pshh im ready to open my bank acct to them they are all pure genus for doing this for the evo and sharing it with ppl
but i just was scare that the 3.0 sense was actually laging on the widget responds but thank you guys for clearing that up
is it possible to install parts from the sense 3.5 port into either a 2.1 or 3.0 sense rom? 3.5 is nice but it provides to much lag on my phone
I wouldn't see why u would just have to strip the apk or just install what u want

Sense 3.5 should actually lag less as it was built for a less powerful phone than this one.
I'm pretty sure the lag is from it not being optimized yet as the devs are more concerned with stability and fixing the bugs.
Sense 3.0 was actually far more laggy and slower than this when it started. Give it time, it will get better.
i know, im just impatient lol. i just cant wait for it to be as stable as business sense. cant wait for nils to add some of his modds to the project
I'll be as giddy as a school girl on prom night once Nils works his Business magic into this.
But, to answer your question, I think it all depends on the app you're wanting to install. Some were built around the 3.5 framework thus would need some tweaking to work on previous versions of Sense. At least that is my understanding from reading the Bliss thread and others on the development forum.
Hey guys, is it possible to get a port of the HTC Pico's Sense 3.5 rom to the Dezire Z/G2? It apparently doesn't have the 3D screen transition of the current sense 3.0/3.5 roms but other than that it's sense 3.5 on gingerbread 2.3.5. I think this would be nice to see.

Port is unlikely, we had a look at it the other week. The pico is 320x480 which would mean upscaling to fit our devices screen. I doubt that anyone will want to do this.

Oh, I was under the impression that it would scale itself like the other 3.5 roms. Damn. Oh well.

The other sense 3.5 roms so far have been wvga so the have fitted with no issues. How ever virtuous unity did have to be downscaled for all devices. But the general consensus is that upscaling a rom would not look good.

i tried porting it, it dosent even boot, it get's stuck very early in the boot procces, overall not worth it.
I got it booting, but like CJ said, the scaling would be a huge issue. The screen was the size of a postage stamp
Since HTC have revealed the HTC One V for Q2 of this year. Do you reckon some devs will be able to port the RUU over to the HTC Desire?
If you don't know what it is; it can be found here: http://www.techradar.com/news/phone...bile-phones/hands-on-htc-one-v-review-1066217
It states it has a single core 1Ghz CPU and sense 4.0 on top of ICS. Do you think this could be run smoothly on our two year old Desire's once HWA is fully fixed?

a) even if it has 1GHz single core cpu, it for sure is not one from 2008
b) Sense 3.5 doesn't work smoothly, so mine (possibly broken) logic says that it probably won't.
c) I for one couldn't care less if it gets ported or not. I know that software version is one part of the coin, where no number of updates will change the fact what Desire fundamentally is - a two year old with archaic architecture.

I doubt it'll get fixed.
As above, even though its a 1ghz processor, the desires technology is now outdated. Its possible we may get some sense 4.0 with ICS but who knows.
Will just have to wait and see what we get
If hwa is delt with I'm sure we might get sense 4.0 but won't let my hopes go up just yet. Although One V has a newer cpu/gpu so do Sensation/Evo3D/Amaze which run sense 3.0/5 (custom) much like I run it on my desire. There's not that much multitasking in comparison but it's running stable and very, very fast. Comparable to the best sense 1/2.0 roms out here. And it seems that sense 4.0 is lighter on ram since V has just 512mb compared with desires 576. My 2c.

Well, there's "smooth" and and there's "sense 3.5 smooth". I've tried most 3.0+ roms but I don't think that people here truly understand what smooth is. I was one of those people. Then I tried oxygen (Mildwild's version to be precise) and it utterly ruined sense for me. I just can't go back.
Although I do miss sense from time to time
Wasn't talking about aosp, miui or cm7. Imho, sense will never be as fast. But that's not the topic of this thread anyway.
-. typewrited .-
I thought AceS 3D port of Sense 3.0 was smooth - but then I went to ICS 0.3.x beta's and was amazed how quick and responsive it was even as a beta.
I do like Sense a lot- especially the camera and people apps but it's days are numbered where ICS is concerned... still wouldn't want to go to stock Gingerbread to be honest but it's probably heaps smoother still
AceS smooth?
It was very, very slow and huge in ram.
I wasn't able to open tweet deck when playing music!

If aosp roms I've only tried mildwild and my current sense rom is at least as fast, if not faster... Not bragging or something. It's an objective opinion. I was really disappointed, since everyone here seems to think otherwise.
One V uses a S2 CPU. The Desire has a S1.
Although, interestingly, the V has slightly less RAM than the Desire.
If ROMs get ported, I don't think there will be RAM issues, but there will be a lot of lag issues etc.

I tried reading this topic, but after I got to erklat's post I was hit by an epiphany: None of this matters to me, Sense sucks.

ICS is the best thing that happened to android
Htc said that Sense 4 is lighter than 3.5 + we have One V with 512 Ram so i think it's possible to port and to work smoothly.
"From the original Sense up to Sense 3.5 we added too many things. The original concept was that it had to be simple and it had to be easy to use and we had that philosophy, but over time it got cluttered," Kodera said.

Could not agree more.
I'm all up for this an am infact waiting for this to be ported over to the desire. This new Sense sounds like it'll be less on an issue to run on our devices than Sense 3 and 3.5. Plus I'm looking forward to Android 4 on a Sense phone.
Hopefully this starts happening soon!
Can someone link me a stockish htc sense 3.0 or 3.5 ported for the Evo 4G?
maybe if it something "barebones" like this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1412005
http://themikmik.com/showthread.php?10338-MikG-v3-0-12-17-2011
Combination of 2.1 and 3.0, nothing runs better then MikG and has everything working IMO. An updates coming today if mik doesnt get held up so wait for that.
