is it possible to install parts from the sense 3.5 port into either a 2.1 or 3.0 sense rom? 3.5 is nice but it provides to much lag on my phone
I wouldn't see why u would just have to strip the apk or just install what u want

Sense 3.5 should actually lag less as it was built for a less powerful phone than this one.
I'm pretty sure the lag is from it not being optimized yet as the devs are more concerned with stability and fixing the bugs.
Sense 3.0 was actually far more laggy and slower than this when it started. Give it time, it will get better.
i know, im just impatient lol. i just cant wait for it to be as stable as business sense. cant wait for nils to add some of his modds to the project
I'll be as giddy as a school girl on prom night once Nils works his Business magic into this.
But, to answer your question, I think it all depends on the app you're wanting to install. Some were built around the 3.5 framework thus would need some tweaking to work on previous versions of Sense. At least that is my understanding from reading the Bliss thread and others on the development forum.
I just bought the SGS2, and my girlfriend is getting my old HTC Desire.
She tried it for a week, with Oxygen ROM and while generally happy with it, she was underwhelmed and annoyed with a few of the more obvious warts of stock android 2.3. The crappy dialer and the crappy keyboard, to name a few.
I then installed a lot of GO apps on it, GO Launcher EX, GO Dialer, GO Widget etc.
While these are in some respects better, they have other issues.
I am now considering if a ROM with Sense would be a good compromise for her. I will not give her the latest stock 2.2 ROM from HTC, I want her to have 2.3. So it would have to be a 2.3 ROM with Sense on it. And I don't even know which version of Sense. I have only really worked with the one in the stock 2.2 ROM from HTC. I think it is Sense 1.9?
So, can you guys recommend a 2.3 ROM with Sense or a 2.3 ROM and some good core apps (dialer, keyboard, sms/texting etc.) that is girlfriend-friendly?
Thanks in advance
I'd recommend one with the Sense 3.0.

why you pointing to external link when we have a development section full of nice a great ROMs?
I would recommend a ROM with Sense 2.1/3.0 (Hybrid) because the Sense 3.5/3.0 ROMs are a bit too much sometimes for the Desire as I read and heard (in case of lags and so).
But Runnymede is recommended very often.
So I would go with Revolution or InsertCoin which I self am using since a few months and i'm quite happy with it.

+1 for revolution. It's the most stable and lag free sense rom I have ever used. I also think a sense rom is more useful for your gf than a stock Android one. You should definitely let her try revolution

Run either a ruu or flash her a rooted stock rom unless you have an ambition in becoming a mobile phone user support for ungrateful girlfriends.
Or simply buy her an iphone as I did for mine.

@erklat
And I really dont get the point why you always have to bash the other Roms except Supernova's. Supernovas Rom sure is great but there also other good ROMs (even with Sense 3.0/3.5). They are maybe that not stable and so on but the Users also have different preferences. For some eye-candy is the most important feature, for other it is stability and speed.

Not that I don't bash just supernova, I don't bash either of the Sense 1.9 roms, aosp roms, or even roms which are broken and are advertised as such.
And I have no beef with roms or their developers, but with idiots that turn every rom recommendation thread into this. OK, you're free to do whatever you want, but you can't come and write "Sense 3.5/ICS , this, this, this and this doesn't work, but it's perfect".
As far as I'm concerned, the scale goes like this: unusable - bad - average - good - perfect. I hope meaning of perfect is self explanatory?
If the op states that he is giving away his phone, Sense 3.5 roms don't have nothing to look for here. Giving away phone with some of it's features severely limited is insanity.
It is you Sense 3.5 users who mixed up priorities here, not I. If the thread was titled "most eyecandy" rom I'd be silent.

I wasn't giving the OP a recommendation for a Sense 3.0/3.5-ROM, I was recommending him a Hybrid (2.1/3.0). And this I can do with pure conscience because the ROM I'm using right now (InsertCoin) is way faster than the Stock-ROM that was originally on the Desire and i havent experienced anything thats not working yet (no reboots, no failures, ... everything is working fine).
Yeah, maybe the Sense-ROMs you are not bashing are a bit faster than the ISC and Revolution Hybrids but there you have an uglier ui, so you have to balance.
Maybe you should testing a Hybrid for yourself because now you are just assuming things.

I want her to have 2.3, and there is no good official 2.3 ROM from HTC. So I guess I might as well try a girlfriend-friendly 2.3 ROM, preferably one that "just works" and that I don't have to help her with a million times. If you can recommend such a ROM, it would be great.
I agree with you that eye candy is not the most important thing here. Usability and stability is. Unfortunately, stock android have usability issues with simple things such as the dialer and the keyboard. And Android 2.3 is a must.
I will never buy her an iPhone, so that's not an option.
What do you recommend?

That is a very bold statement to make when talking with someone with 217,71 times your post count here
I did that, when they were popular, IC was on my phone for a whole 15 minutes before restoring nandroid backup of my AuraXTremeGinger I used at that time. You can feel when it was placed in past. To be honest, I didn't get to the post where you recommended anything. It was enough for one which spends as much time as me reading these threads to read a couple of the first ones and catch the drift of where is it going. After that I just scroll real fast through the thread. No Stock rom recommendations? Check. Commence bashing.

well for starters have you actually used both phones? if not you dont have personal experience
in any event, sense 3.0 is an official update for that phone...ie their rom was built by htc for that phone
our sense 3 roms were ported from other devices...and honestly? at least in my experience with regular 3.0 and our trinity rom, it runs really well....just the usual issues that plague ports with data cut outs for some people (area and phone dependant) which isnt *that* shocking given most inc2 users are running on cdma networks and the rom was meant for a gsm-only phone
they do use *slightly* different processors...but if anything ours should be better if not equal...so thats not an issue

Why does cyanogenmod work better on the nexus S than the fascinate?
its based on the official software that shipped with the phone
INCS has a sense 3.0 update from htc, we do not.
My friend has an Incredible S running on official Sense 3.0 so I used his to compare with mine running different Sense 3.0 ROMs. And overall I found his to be more stable by using it. The phones use the same processor. I just don't understand why, as they are both running Sense 3.0 and have the same specs.

well i dont know what sense 3.0 roms you are using, but trinity performs just as well as our stock rom
Sense 4.0 has been ported to the evo 3D , seems almost everything is working according to 3d users the exception of Bluetooth and camera.
Is there a chance we could port this rom to our evos?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1620318
HTC Evo 4G 0004
The Classic v.0.0.9
Underworld Kernel v.5
V6 supercharger
The process of doing so would be like porting the 3vo's 3.0 to EVO it is a long patchy and troublesome process... The issue is that the EVO really is aging, though Android is becoming more and more streamline and functional, they are building for higher end devices. Now there is going to be a leak for the One V which is a single core phone, this may be more promising than some of the builds for dual core devices.
i really hope there will be a port to the Evo /:
Im sure they will get some sort of port working eventually. In the meantime try out SOS, he has it themed like Sense 4 and it is a fairly good representation and it is so so so so smooth!!! Plus if you haven't used Aroma installer yet you will get a chance to see how cool it is!

Aroma is a GUI, through recovery, installer for ROM's. It has to be implemented by the dev who made the ROM and there are quite a few people jumping on board because the usefulness of it is quite extensive.
Yea give SOS a try I've always liked Swagstrs work. Everything works on everyone of his releases very good DD's.
With a Sense 4a/ICS Sense ROM, this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1598865), my Limited Edition Spiderman Beats By Dre headphones, some theming of my own, and a white case, I am going to transform my DINC2 into what I call an "HTC One Incredible S"

I thought I read on here somewhere that when we get ics we will still never get true sense 4 only 3.6? I know very little about the sense roms so I am just trying to educate myself a little.
Jayydude glad you got you a dinc 2. I ended up sending the guy that gave you his blackberry for free the batteries and charger I had offered to you for your x2 when you had problems. Just to clarify, last season's HTC devices get an ICS update in the form of Android 4.0.3/Sense 3.6. This applies to the Sensation (all models), Vivid, Amaze, Incredible 2/S and even the Desire S/HD, along with a couple of others.
You won't see Sense 4.0 on any of these 'older' devices officially. It was the One series' drawcard, and it won't be officially ported backwards. That's what XDA is for
That said, I'm really impressed with performance increases on the Sensation, Vivid and Amaze from the ICS update. Usability of Sense 3.6, especially the Launcher, is greatly improved. You should get a good little boost out of the official ICS when it arrives.

most likely they started working on the older devices later, and by then 4.0.4 was in aosp id guess
given that htc updates on the same os version so frequently, id imagine the evo 3d/sensation/rezound will move up as well
some of the msm7x30 devices on gb at points had 2.3.3, 2.3.4, 2.3.5, and 2.3.6 (dont think any of that chipset ever saw 2.3.7)
