Hi,
I've just rooted my wife's Desire, and I'd like to uninstall some system apps using Titanium Backup to free up some internal space for app installation. What can I uninstall that I'm not using and won't affect the phone?
Things I don't use in the list that I'd like to uninstall if possible:
Stocks
CN Thai Keyboard
Flickr
Plurk
Friend Stream
News
News and Weather
Peep
Teeter
Twitter
Also, I tried uninstalling flickr/stocks/twitter/peep/plurk/news/teeter after backing them up, but it didn't free up any space on the phone at all...I'm still getting low memory warnings. What's up with that?
Thanks.

Uninstalling system apps will not increase the disk space available for you to install apps. This is because the phone has two major partitions, the data partition at 148mb, and the system partition at 250mb. User installed apps can only be installed on the data partition while system apps are installed on the system partition. So when you uninstall a system app, you are actually only freeing up space in the system partition instead of the data partition and you cannot use the system partition to install apps. Thus, you do not get any additional space and will still have the low memory warning.

I noticed my internal memory free space was decreased upon an unsuccessful market install.
Clearing Market cache is enough ?

Uninstall them, if they aren't in - Manage Applications, they aren't on your phone.
since they were not installed i cannot uninstall them obviously. i know they were kept in some kind of cache because the low internal memory icon was not present before trying to install the application. After the failed attempt the icon popped up.
Are you rooted? Try Cache Cleaner from the market.
not rooted unfortunately. thanks for the info.
Not sure where to ask this, but since I use a Desire, I'll try in here...
I'm running a rooted stock 2.3, and use Titanium Backup.
I'm pretty happy about the space on my phone in general, but today I converted the built-in official app into a user app with Titanium, and then uninstalled it. Since I now had over 20 MB free space on the System ROM, according to Titanium, I decided to try to upgrade my Gmail, Maps and Market apps, and then move them to the ROM to get a little extra space (Upgraded Gmail takes 7 MB space. The upgraded market over 8 MB)
Titanium converted them to System apps, or integrated the upgrade to ROM apparently without any problems, but the minute I try to run the apps, the crash immediately. If I afterwards move them back to the regular memory, they work fine. What's the problem? Any suggestions?
Is there another way to upgrade the system apps, and move them/the upgrade to ROM?
As of right now, I have 21.7 MB free in the system partition, and 24.6 MB free in the internal memory, according to Titanium...
Using Titanium isn't the best way to do it. I guess the only proper way is to get the updated apps, create a flashable zip and flash it.
Punched in..

I made the same and to fix this wipe the data for integrated apps using titanium.
I also try on adobe flash and flash not work anymore.
Fix for this is option in titanium to move and lib files when integrating.
You can also integrate youtube, maps voice search.
Remember that the doing this will make apps integated to rom to be deodexed, dex file will be on data partition. Benefit is about 10 mb more when you integrate all 5 apps.

Does freezing system apps on Titanium Backup PRO frees up internal memory space . If. And Whats system apps is safe to freeze
Freezing = Making the app inaccessible ..it doesnt increase internal memory..the freezed app wont run ..
Basically freezing=deleting as both does the same job but you can defreeze the app to use it again..so using titanium backup backup the files you want to freeze and delete them..deleting helps increase internal memory..
Freezing bloatwares helps in decreasing RAM usage and it impacts a bit on the phone performance..
These are the list of bloatwares/unwanted apps you can freeze/delete:

For deleting you need to backup not for freezing

Hi all.
After trying to install some apps, I recieved messages regarding full storage, preventing me from installing the apps that I wanted, although I had over 200mb available under the app storage!
So I downloaded several cleanup apps and deleted some old apps, but still in the "other" section under app storage, there is 5GB of unknown data (screenshot attached).
I've tried finding out what eating my storage space using some disk mapping apps, but hasn't been able to find out what it is (when I map the app storage, it only shows the apps themselves and the free storage, and not the 5GB).
I'm guessing maybe some of it includes the system data, but didn't think that it will take that much storage space, and also if it is system data, it's weird to me that it's under the app storage section.
I also tried googling it up and looking it up in the forums, and I did find several people having the same situation, although no solution found.
Please note that I'm not rooted.
I would be really glad if someone knows what's causing this, and if there is a solution.
Thanks!
Try to backup your data and then restore to the default settings
Not really

This doesn't fix anything. This was also the advice of the HTC support. Unfortunately they also don't know that a factory reset will not clear that space.
Minimal "Other" will take a little under 5 GB. So don't reset for nothing.
Now i just rooted my HOX and still looking into this (playing with link2SD, might be a fix).
Apps are installed under /data and has a total capacity of 2.11 GB
I have the same problem on my phone. Any "fix" for this, other then factory reset?
(I have the latest update available, running stock os.
Hi everyone
Is it possible to install app on a dedicated partition on my sd?
My scope is to not install everytime the same apps, but I can store them on the sd...
Is there a guide?
Thank you in advance,
.Fè
Hi,
not as far as I know. One could - having a rooted system - place part of it on the extSD using Apps like Link2SD for example. But anyway the app has to be reinstalled after a factory reset.
You could use Helium backup from PlayStore to easily backup Apps and App data from your internal SD and restore them after the system is reserved. Without root this app allows backups for all installed apps but system apps. Having a rooted phone you could backup system apps and settings as well.

Thank you, mate
