[Q] Modem.bin - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

I need the Epic 4G Touch's modem.bin
Like an idiot, I flashed the OC kernel over on 'phone', so I need to flash the modem.bin. But the link in the Android dev section is down, and all other references to the stock modem.bin uses the very same dead link! It is maddening!
So, I humbly request that the modem.bin be re-upped to a mutliupload page to ensure this doesn't happen again.
EDIT: And like an idiot, I go and make it in the wrong section! Gaaarrr, I gave up cigarettes for this?!

Could use this file also please... and thank you for these forums...

Yup one more request for the modem.bin
was porting some of the overseas roms and forgot to delete the modem update from the package like a noob. Would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance to any kind soul who can help us out.

I searched "flashed phone in odin"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1284602&highlight=flashed+odin+phone
Try the forum search next time guys

Thanks man, but thats not the problem I at least can find many references to the modem.bin download but all ultimately point to
h t t p://bit.ly/rhlkhC
which redirects to
h t t p ://ninpo.qap.la/epic4gt/modem.bin
and shows as page not found.
it may just be me but seems like there is only one download location and no alternative, and that location just doesn't work.
we need an alternate download.

Updated the guide with that link too.

thank you thank you thank you and a clickety thanks to you too.

Curious, has anyone flashed an Epic 4G Radio by mistake? If so, what were the results? Could it be undone without permanent issues?

Yes, I have. It just kills your signal. Permanent LOS lol. Doesn't brick or anything just flash the modem.bin for our phone and all is well.

i flashing this modem.bin but it looks like it is eg12... any idea on where i can find eg30 modem.bin? Thats the one my phone came with before i blew it away by accident and now i only have eg12. Thanks!

Well ill be damned....
looks like all the modem.bin files out there are the eg12 version (as i flashed to fix my phone also)
and my mom's has the eg30.
on further inspection this creates another problem, even after returning to stock and resetting everything if you plug your phone into kies the eg12 version gives a "this version of the device cannot be upgraded" while the eg30 says "this device is up to date" (both were hacked and returned to stock to check this)
if anyone knows the adb command to pull a modem.bin i'll do it and post it (though on some phones it's not possible?) i believe the modem.bin came out of the sammy sdk. hope im wrong.
anybody found a solution for this yet?

If you're returning to stock, use the DI18 file, that's the only official stock out now, unesless you want the "official" froyo Stock, EB13, which was pulled because it was causing problems for some users.
Follow the directions in that thread, and you shouldn't have an problems.

i was using that thread and the odin file download link doesnt work!
EDIT: since i will be using downloading the DI18 file. do i need to get a new pit file or a new stock kernel? bc all the ones in that thread i wud guess are for dg27 right?
never mind i got the pit file and odin and the di18 fw. but it says have auto-reboot and debug-en checked and nothing else. i dont see debug-en???!!!
The tar file has the kernel in it, it returns it to the condition that it was in when you first activated the phone.
Here's a step by step list of what to do. http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Samsung_Galaxy_S/SPH-D700#Odin_Stock_Flashing
Download this, http://www.sdx-downloads.com/devs/noobnl/Odin3+v1.61andepic.pit.zip
Then this, http://www.multiupload.com/X9AB1U56JV , use the download from megaupload, its going to be the quickest.
Then just follow the directions in the first link in this post.

Apparently I stumbled here in this thread as a Google hit for latest odin.
Now is "latest Odin" different version for every Samsung device? I am looking for the latest one to flash my Galaxy Tab 10.1 WIFI with, and I am lost in this "Epic" thread.
Any ideas? Thanks
The best instructions I've seen are at http://tinyurl.com/epicfix
Even though your issue has been replied to, you should go to your device's forum for questions. Rule of thumb is also to search said forum and not necro threads.
Happy hunting.

[Q] DG27 to GG2 ?

Title EDIT: DG27 to EG22
All I keep finding are dead links for updates. What steps will I have to take?
DG27 to DI07 and so forth?
I got my phone flashed to MetroPCS and the guy took me from EC05 all the way back to DG27 just for Web and MMS. Screw the Web and MMS, I want an updated system.
Can someone PLEASE provide links and how-to's. I'm currently rooted with clockworkmod and I'm getting really frustrated, maybe you guys can help me.
Flash EG22 with Odin here. Not sure if that will let you stay on Metro PCS though.
So that's it? I can just jump from DG27 to EG22 just like that?

Yeah, the process to get to EG22 is as simple as that. Only problem is, I'm almost 'Certain' you will lose your connection/features with Metro. With each new release/update, many system folders are moved/removed/added and thus flashing to EG22 could and will break some of ur phones features, and could porssibly make u lose ur flash to Metro. You can try and PM one of the more experience Devs and have them explain to you the risks or fixes yu could implement if u do decide to flash EG22
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Well I dunno what was altered to make your phone metro but this is what WILL be overwritted in the eg22 odin flash.
Boot
Secondary Bootloader
Modem
Kernel
Recovery
Cache
Data
System / FactoryFS
param.lfs (dont remember what it is pretty sure its the samsung logo on boot?)
Though I doubt what he modified/flashed to is in the list...I dont think odin writes to the area of a phone which would deal with CDMA/wireless carrier info like how you have to go in service programming in QPST to write a new PRL...Could be wrong though so I'd wait for a smarter person to answer.
There is a metro pcs tutorial here you could follow to get connected, however, go for it man

[Q] [HELP] Soft Bricked i9505

I rooted my GS4 yesterday and had no issues at all until i tried to flash a MOD to obtain wireless hotspot, but what i didnt notice was the MOD was for a Sprint version GS4. I know know if thats exactly what made my phone brick but im pretty positive because it was during the reboot that the phone got stuck on the TMO screen and apparently remaining soft-bricked. I spent the rest of the night and all of today reading and researching how to fix it myself before coming here to ask for help, so please bare with me.
I have already attempted to flash the official stock firmware using Odin, but it displays an error everytime saying it failed and something about AUTH. Sorry if im sounding vague, i am on a back up phone to use the internet and forgot to right down the exact message.. Anywho, i tried wiping everything and redoing the process and i even tried to flash the appropiate PIT file that i found but it still displays an error and says failed because of some AUTH or SEC problem.
Ive been at this diligently for almost 12 hours. My brain is filled with all these suggestions and methods that i have tried to use to restore my phone back to factory, but none of them have worked. I can still get into recovery and all that, so im assuming that there is still good chance i could fix the problem?
Also i am starting to get myself more and more confused about whether the firmware i downloaded is the right one i need for my phone, it seemed so at first but now i see theres TONS of region codes that can determine the firmware version?
Sorry if im all over the place, but i just dont know which step to take next..
I appreciate any help that is given, and im even willing to pay (some) bucks or maybe even (btc) for someone to walk me through what i need to do or what im doing wrong.
Thanks in Advance
Have you followed every single thing in the return to stock thread? Including updating your drivers, using the USB cable that came with your phone, running Odin as admin, etc?

No i havent tried that threads strategy, although i have done the same exact steps but only difference i see is that the firmware file name is:
M919UVUAMDL
While the one i was trying to use earlier was:
I9505XXUAMDM
This is where im getting very confused because i cant find a cut and dry way of knowing which firmware is the correct one..

You do have the T-Mobile SGS4, correct? Any files with I9505 in the name are for the international version, which is what you flashed (not the right file). All of ours will mention SGH-M919, M919, or jfltetmo in the file name. Pull the one in the thread I linked above and push that.
Crossing your fingers while doing so couldn't hurt...
Edit: I'd recommend using the "Download UVUAMDL Official TAR" in that thread as well, not the "stock tar (original)", since the MDL is official.

If you can get into download mode i would suggest flashing stock with that then rerooting that way the program downloads all of the nessacary stuff on its own.

All Things Boost Galaxy S III

1. Since the Galaxy S III became available as a Boost variant, there’s been an increasing amount of questions, issues, and requests for builds. I have collaborated with the powers that be, and it was determined that it might be a good idea to start a Boost only thread. This thread is dedicated to anything and everything Boost Galaxy S III related.
2. I will update and bump and sticky and edit and whatever else needs to be done the best that I can, but it is open and available to all. This is YOUR thread, just as much as it is mine. I encourage folks to ask questions, post relevant links, tutorials, helpful hints, and anything else they come across while tinkering with their new phone that may help others related to the Boost S3.
3. First and foremost, as always is the disclaimer. We are all responsible for our own actions. I am not responsible for what you do to your phone, so please do not flame me or anyone else in this thread if you do something that potentially fries your device.
4. If you post a link to something flashable, either through Odin, CWM, Heimdall, TWRP, etc, please test it on your own phone first or have someone test it before you do so. If it works, and will benefit someone, feel free to include it. I will most likely PM the dev and ask to put it in the OP.
5. And finally, please be courteous and respectful. We are all here to learn from one another, and do not need sarcasm, unkindness, flaming, or disrespect, of any kind. Thank you and enjoy.
Stock Unrooted OTA Odin Tar
This is the official, stock, right out of the box, Boost MD7. This will unroot your device, and take everything back to the way it was when you got it. Please thank the OP, Smith058, over at AF (link to OP at the bottom), since he was so gracious to let me post it here, and to let me use it to cook up something good for you folks More to come on that one! The only issue I’ve noticed on this build is there’s no boot up sound. But it flashed modem, stock recovery, put the device status back to “normal” and made the “custom” in Odin mode back to “official.” This should come in handy if you need to send it back for repair, or just want to start anew. The coming zip (once it’s uploaded) has working sound.

My phone is running a rooted version of the stock MG2 ROM. While it has the Boost startup splash "4G" screen, I don't think there ever was a sound component.
Also - If I recall correctly, some custom ROMs labelled as compatible with the Sprint Galaxy S3 will cause us to LOSE 4G SERVICE, because they do not have the Boost-specific APN settings in them, and changing APN settings on Jellybean ROMs is (apparently) not possible as it was on Ice Cream Sandwich ROMs. So beware, and make sure that any ROMs that you want to flash will not kill your 4G!

I think it was an issue with the Tar, because when I built the flashable zips, they not only had the Boost animation, but the sound component as well. And I have seen around that some Sprint ROMs will cause issues with 4g. I know that it is possible to get into change the "guts" of your phone if you have your MSL by with JB Touchwiz ROMs by dialing ##3282# from your phone's dialer. However, for some reason, with the zip I just built, it's not cooperating. I'm going to swap out secphone.apk later today, from another stock build, and see if that fixes the issue. But thanks for the heads up. That's what this thread is all about.

If you flashed the rooted one, chances are it won't let you update, but give it a try. Additionally, if you have custom recovery, which you had to in order to flash the zip, it most likely won't let you update it either. It's an Android Software update, not a firmware. I would try it, and I'm sure it will fail, but at least you won't get prompted anymore for software updates But yes, it is safe to try.

jdsingle76 is correct. It won't hurt anything, it just won't work. If you accept the update, your phone will reboot into recovery, process for a few seconds, and fail with an error. However in my experience, that will not stop the software update prompts from re-occurring. If I recall, the best way to stop them was to use something like Titanium Backup and freeze something having to do with 'OTACERTS'. It's been a while, so my info may be out-of-date on that front.

Don't fret. .. If kitkat comes out there will definitely be a custom rom made with it that you will be able to flash. With root you will have many more options than you ever will with stock.

[Q] Need help with modem

Hello all, I posted here several weeks ago about me trying several things on my SPH-L520 to get root back after Knox, and ultimately failing until I found s0be's CyanogenMod project for the SPH-L520. This saved my device and I have a fully working ROM again with root access and the likes, however back when I started this commotion I deleted the modem off of my phone. After tinkering with my brothers phone today and following some very helpful threads I have successfully recovered the modem.bin from his phone. Unfortunately, this is where my expertise ends, as I don't know how to build the constituent parts to include in a .zip to make this modem flashable. Do to the current state of development for the SPH-L520 I also haven't found any modem packages that would work for me on a CDMA network, as most (read: all) of the modem packages I have found are for international LTE variants, and even if my phone successfully accepted them, well you know why that probably wouldn't work. So I'm asking for help, one final push to make my phone a phone again and not a fancy PDA. If anyone knows how I can turn the modem bin i have into a flashable zip, I would greatly appreciate the help.
Thanks in advance, Hans.
Perhaps this thread can help you: http://www.rwilco12.com/forum/archive/index.php?thread-92.html
You need to flash through Odin twice for the modem to take effect.
You will probably be creating a .tar.md5 for modem.bin only

Thank you for linking to that thread.Unfortunately, Knox prevents Odin from successfully flashing the modem.tar I created. I'm going to try backing up my brothers modem with ZipMe and installing it on my phone that way.

What the hell is up with my phone? I just when checking around the firmware file with ES File Explorer, and right there inside is the modem files! But for some reason it's not working, the modem isn't being loaded or something because I still have no phone coverage... This is very strange.
Hans
EDIT: So I went into my connectivity settings and tried to add a APN. It wouldn't save to my phone. After that I tried changing my phone from NV to RUIM/SIM, but it wouldn't switch. I also tried to configure a network, but it said I needed to insert my SIM and restart the phone. Odd...
