App showing up greyed out in App Drawer? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

I used ES File Explorer to delete some system apps but one of them does not want to remove itself from the app drawer.
The app is Google Books. It shows up in the app drawer (TW 4.0) and if I click on it, it says the app is not installed. I've rebooted several times and it will not go away. Any ideas on how to remove it? TIA.

The app is already removed. I just want to get rid of that rogue app entry in the app drawer.

Solved it by installing from the Market and then uninstalling it.

Glad that fixed it for you, I ran into this once before on my old Evo, wiping cache/Dalvik cleared it for me.

This was happening to me on my S4. I deleted the apps using ES and they were still showing up in my app drawer. I took your advice but this time when I went to the market it had an option to uninstall the app. And now its gone. kind of a pain to have to look up each app I deleted.

Wow that worked like a charm...smooth as ever with no reloading...much appreciated!
Does this only apply to that particular ROM? Also, does making it a system app in Titanium do the same thing?
Thanks,
Lee

I don't think so...I've experienced it on a smaller less frequent scale even running EG22...I think it has somthing to do with less RAM being available in Gingerbread...and I also have a lot of apps (100+) installed...could that be apart of the problem?
Sent from my rooted, suited, & booted Epic 4G kno dat!
In Launcher pro I select to keep in memory on the preferences and it works fine not reloading. without it would reload as you describe quite often.

I think we can cross that source off the checklist because I'm still having the issue even though more sparingly on EG22....Bamboozle is a great ROM.

I did that earlier as well but it didn't work. Maybe we need to drop it in /system/app
Unfortunately I can't try it since I don't have root yet.

i rooted my first epic touch. accidently removed the camera.apk from /system/app
COULD NOT get it to restore... tried installing in every way possible, even restoring with titanium backup (since i had backed up the camera.apk before removing it).
i tried installing via adb, by putting Camera.apk in /system/app and rebooting, all that good stuff, nothing worked... so i dont know how this fm radio apk is going 2 work

There's always tune-in radio or pandora :-D
Tapatalkin' it from my Epic Touch 3g
I got the app to install by puting it into my system/app folder and rebooting. The app starts but it won't find any stations. I'm rooted by the way.

There is also the Sprint Radio app that comes Pre installed. Don't know if this would work for you. It looks like it just grabs streams from online.
Mediocre bloatware at best but it may work for you!

There's some stations that don't show in TuneIn radio only fm. And also when using the fm radio we don't use data = less battery, and those Apps need data to work, I have unlimited data but my concern its the battery.
Maybe later someone fix it.

Question is, will it let you purchase PAID APPS? I had the ICS version of the market 3.2 and it would not allow me to buy apps but free apps were fine.

Thanks for sharing this! You may want to update OP w/ these steps in place of the video, saves you time to just install the apk rather than watching a 6min video, renaming the apk, copying it over to /system/app, then powering down the phone, and then powering back up the phone when you can just install it and run it !

YouTube Update!!

How do we get YouTube version 2.3.4 unto our phones???
http://m.androidcentral.com/youtube...ds-1-button-annotations-and-watch-later-queue
Sent from a Galaxy far far away...
You have to manually install it because supposedly it is not "compatible" with our phones even though 2.2.16 version work fine. Anyone have a download link?
I saw that, but it didn't show up in my apps yet.
google search for the file name then throw "download" in the search box after the name... you'll find it.
youtube123234whatever.apk download
it will come up
I can't find it. Can you post a link?

What's in this version:
+1 button and annotations
'Watch later' queue
Uploading while editing video info
I searched the forum to try and find an answer, with no luck. My main question is why can't we find the youtube app in the market, or update it without manually downloading an APK. I am running stock rom, no root, and I am on version 2.1.6. Clearly there has been several updates to the app since the version I have. I am just wondering why the newer versions are "incompatible" with our phone? I mean isn't this suppose to be the latest and greatest phone that Sprint has to offer?
Not working. Any ideas?
I installed this APK and it looks great, but it doesn't work....loads a video forever!! WEIRD. I rebooted and nothing. Any suggestions?
Thanks.
