[Q] Instant discharge.

So, I'm on my Evo today, playing a game (Air Strike). My battery is at 93% when I picked the phone up to play, and the phone is plugged in. Suddenly, with no warning what-so-ever, my phone shuts off. Of course a mini-freak out and many "wtf's" ensue. No warning, no signs, even the led went off. I pulled the battery, put it back, then plugged the phone in again. After that it gave me the blinking light indicating the battery was too low to turn on. After a few minutes charging she came back on and battery was at 5%.
How the hell does a battery go from 93% to 0% in less than 5 minutes, and give no warning at all?? Anybody else ever have this problem?

Wow I've have never heard or that happening before. Maybe a glitch in the battery stash? Did it take awhile to charge up to 100%? Can you reproduce the issue again?

I had this problem with my older phone once. The battery itself may have a problem or your phone is not getting charged properly.
Try These :
1) Try charging the phone overnite from the Wall charger (Not through USB of your computer)
2) If the above does not work, and you have access to another evo battery, then try using that.(try using a friends battery and charger for a day. ) (Ofcourse needless to say the charger and battery must be for Evoonly )
In my case, my phone started working fine again after getting my battery & charger replaced.

Probably shouldn't worry about it too much just yet. Could be something as simple as your battery meter was mis-calibrated. The meter itself is software so it can easily be wrong/off. If it continues you may have a bad battery.

Sounds to me like something is wrong. Did you just get the phone or have you had it?

Idk... The phone had been plugged in for most of the day (hadn't gone anywhere. Lazy day lol) And like I said, the led went completely out as well.
Haven't had the problem again, so we'll see I guess....

I've seen some posts about the Evo battery shutting off the charge when its being used. Were you using your Evo while it was charging?
If the battery doesn't seem to be giving you percentages that are accurate, you might want to recalibrate your battery.

Battery recalibration (Thanks to Cyanogen for this and to fachadick for bringing it to my attention).
If you're experiencing higher than normal battery drain, try the following:
1. Charge the phone to full battery; let it keep charging until the battery says it is fully charged. Do not just wait until the light is green, it isn't always fully charged, causing a lot of inaccuracies. (You can check by going to: Settings -> About Phone -> Status -> Battery Level = Full.)
2. Boot to recovery and wipe battery stats.
(To have the most accurate of battery stats, reboot the phone immediately after wiping the battery stats and wait for your ROM to boot completely to the desktop. Once your entire boot is done and you have full access to the phone, go ahead and pull the charger and continue.)
3. Do not charge the phone until after draining the battery completely, resulting in it automatically shutting off. Take out the battery, and keep trying to turn on your phone until it will not turn back on at all.
4. Recharge the phone completely and then use as you normally would.
This is a method that has been proven to work, I am sure there are other ways. My battery lasts longer after doing this and the reading is much more accurate. It might be advisable to do this after every ROM install if you want the most battery life and most accurate battery reading by the phone's software.

[Q] Desire turns off at 10%

Everytime my phone reaches 10%, the phone will shut down itself and it won't turn on again.
i have tried bump charging and calibrating the battery but still without success... anyone got any soulutions other then buying a new battery?

Try this: fully charge the phone then let the battery drain completely, until the phone shuts down. Plug the phone into the wall charger, let it charge for a minute or so then turn the phone on while still plugged into the charger and let it charge completely. After a full (100%) charge, the battery indicator should be precise.
I've noticed that if i restart the phone of plug it in after charging, the battery indicator will show an extra 10%, so that's the main reason for the shutdown at or a little below 10%.
This operation should be repeated once a month, just to keep the battery and the battery stats fresh.
Don't wipe battery stats and don't try any other calibration tweaks. They might damage the battery. There are some people here complaining about that.
If the phone still shuts down at 10% after the above-indicated trick, then your battery might be old and in need of replacing, but i wouldn't replace it just because of a 10% indicator error if it can still hold a proper charge.

I have the same problem. I also calibrated my batterie and everything but it still turns off at ~10%.
But since I know that, it's not really a problem

Its always turned off at ~15% for me. I accepted that this was normal. I've seen a lot of posts around but no one seems to of found a proper solution. I actually doubt that there is a proper solution to this.

snq's kernel? I take it is normal with it as none of the GB sense rom managed to come even near the 1-2%. A bug with the kernel probably.
Flashed Oxygen last week - bam, phone turns off at 1%. No calibration was needed even .

Every time this happens to me I charge it 100% then I reset battery stats. Then let it discharge threw normal use then give it a proper charge, plugged into wall charger, not PC.....! And once its 100% ignore green light check it says 100% on the top bar then I unplug. Its normally always sorted then. But I have had to repeat twice in the past.
I also agree about kernal, often after updates it goes bonkers, and I'm on miui, lots of updates

Mine also used to turn off at ~14%. After using a battery calibrator, i could push it down to 7%. However, on the other "side" of the scale, it goes down qute quickly from 100% to ~92%. All this on GV2.8, and the unofficial ManU kernel 2.1.1.

Just wipe battery stats in recovery after full discharge if you changed ROM, and then let it charge to 100%.

Used the battery calibrator app (for nexus one) with detailed instructions. Now batt lifeis awesome, turns off at 3%.

Should I calibrate my battery?

Lately my phone will go through a massive drain until it hits around 55% then it will drain normally. I have not changed anything since this started. Any suggestions? I'm thinking I may need to calibrate my battery.

Thanks for your input. I want to wait a few days before I do it. So it will give it time to see if that really is the problem. This only happened yesterday and today so maybe tomorrow will be better. Besides the only time I really have to do it is later this week.

You charge your battery to 100%, wipe batterystats.bin, then run the battery down to 0%, then charge uninterrupted back up to 100%

Battery Calibration does it help ?
I have a similar situation and i followed the battery re-calibration method too but still didnt help.
Situation - The battery would charge till 88% but will show its fully charged. Recently put Vivokat so now its even more prominent. Every reboot drops the battery by steps, like i would reboot and the battery would go from 80 to 65 just like that, no gradual decline or anything. And even after a full charge (the green light indicator is on) still the battery would continue charging.
Tried - I tried resetting the batterystats.bin file as suggested, fully charged till 100% then removed batterystats.bin file then allowed to discharge all the way then charged continuously till 100%. No outcome
Anything else that can be done ?

[Q] Charge time from 0 to 100 ?

So... I'm calibrating my battery. Charged it to 100%, left it run down to 0%, and am now charging it back up without any break. The problem is... as soon as I plugged in the charger when the phone powered down, the charging battery icon came up..and it wont go away. It's been like this for 2 hours.
I'm hoping the device is actually charging and isn't just frozen or something; I don't want to turn the device on as that might hinder the whole calibration thing.
Question is: Does anyone know how long it takes to charge from dead to 100% ? I need to know when to take the phone and see if it's actually been charging this whole time

Actually that happened to me last night let it charge for a lil bit unplug the phone take the battery out and then put the battery back in and turn the phone back on with the power button and it should turn back on

Yeah I'd battery pull but can't mess up the calibration process. I know it's charging because the device is somewhat warm in the back and the display can't stay on for this long unless it's getting juice...
I'll battery pull if necessary in a couple of hours, or tomorrow morning. But seriously, this thing better be charging ಠ_ಠ

So it's morning, the device charged, but I did have to do a battery pull before booting it up. All is well :}

Wondered WTF was going on as I couldnt turn it back on whilst it was charging and the battery logo stayed on even when I unplugged it
Was resolved by pulling the battery and powering back on

When I did a full charge from the point that I ran the battery down until the phone turned itself off, it took approx 140min for it to charge completely to 100%. That being said, I'd give it 2.5hrs max and if it still isn't showing it as being done charging, then there may be a problem.

It's caused by the bad cwm. We need a fixed cwm.

Battery was at 27% at 2:47pm. Been turned on since 10AM and playing music for about two hours with screen turned on for 2h 15m. Was in airplane mode for about 2hours as well. No es bueno imo, compared to what I saw before. Might be the new rom/kernels I flashed; even though they were supposed to significantly increase battery life.
..ah well who knows lol

Has this issue been solved? I just rooted my phone, installed CWM, and different ROM. Whenever phone is powered off and I try to charge it, I cannot turn it back on without battery pull. This wasn't an issue with stock phone.

How to Reset the Battery

While I was charging my battery I was testing different ROMs and restarting the phone multiple times and I think now it's not working properly because is in 75% it says charing but it has been stuck in 75% for 2 hours, so maybe it's already at 100% but the OS think it's only 75%, is there a way to reset the battery?, thanks

what is the specialist of AT&T towards this device?

not sure if it will help but there is an app called "Battery Calibration" in the play store. Give that a shot and see if that helps

Try to wipe batt stats through cwm. Or use a battery calibrator from the play store

not sure if it is the same thing on the gn2, but this same problem would happen to me when I had my old moto atrix.
How i fixed it was to do the following all while the phone is plugged into the wall:
- shutdown the phone
- with the phone off, plug the phone into the charger and let the battery icon appear on the screen indicating that the phone is charging
- once you believe the phone is full (a few hours on the charger), remove the battery (while it is still plugged in)
- Then a battery with a question mark would appear since there is no battery
- leave the battery out for 5 - 10 seconds, then place back into the phone (still plugged into the wall)
- let the phone charge for another 5 or so minutes
- Turn the phone on
This would always reset how Android would report the battery percentage, and it would always revert back to 100% once I turned the phone back on.
Like I said, I haven't had this problem on my gn2 yet, so i haven't tried it myself. Good luck.
