[Q] ##3282# trouble - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone! I am rooted but running a stock rom. I can't get ##3282# (or any other ## code) to work. I need to change the Sprint IP proxy settings. Is there any other way I can do this without getting rid of the root? Sorry if this has been covered, I searched for an hour and couldn't find anything.

The service (ETSM i think) needs to match the correct radio. Update to latest Radio, or w/e is compatible with that Rom.

*EPST. You will also need your msl #, which you can attain through an app in the market (msl reader). Be sire you write down any settings before you make changes, just in case.

Updated the radio, that did it. Thanks.

Error Code: 67 after flashing non-OEM SPRINT roms

I know this topic has been covered but after reading through the threads i found no solution.
After i flash a custom rom, i get ERROR CODE 67: username password in correct. I know how to resolve it on OEM Sprint Roms. It requires you to go into EPST.exe by typing ##3282# on the dial pad. then MENU-RESET..
but with any of these custom ROMs when you hit ##3282# it does not take you to the EPST.EXE program to even access the utility..
Am i missing the file, or the carrier cab? If someone knows how i can get this working so i can verify the username, password, shared secret... This is required to get this specific phone working.. I have flashed 5 of the same types of phones, with no problem... but there is one phone i have problems with the provisioning... so i need to verify these settings but can't...
Any input would be appreciated..
When i call sprint, they tell me to access the utility but it does not work and i dont want to tell them i am running a ROM that is non-OEM...

for now use ppckitchen.org's kitchen (for vogue obviously) and just be sure to cook a rom that includes "phone codes". this should solve your problem.

HELP! PPP settings permanently stuck on Alltel...

When I try to save the PPP settings for verizon (they are currently set to: [email protected] and I need to change to [email protected]), the settings continue to revert back to alltel!!! I really need some help with this - why would I be able to change every other setting via QPST except for PPP username and psw? Does anyone know if this has something to do with the registry? Thanks so much!
"I'm not really sure why you are editing these fields in QPST or why you would need to. If you have Verizon, flash with the latest WM6.1 that Verizon released, then flash with this ROM. Once you do *228 and get activated these settings will all be configured automatically."
I did that - I need these settings corrected so that I can access data. I am unable to do so because the settings keep reverting back to [email protected], even after I just changed them! I just now flashed back to the Sprint Stock ROM with radio 3.43 and still is unchanged!
I don't know what to do... I'm really freaking out - I did flash to an alltel ROM in the past, but why aren't the newer ROMS overwriting the old PPP settings???? Is it a radio problem (shouldn't be because I just flashed with Sprint radio ROM)
In any case, no matter what ROM I use, I cannot edit the PPP username and psw - it always reverts back to alltel. Does anyone know what I should do? Thanks!
P.S - I also installed the dcd Verizon Wireless carrier cabs and still no go...
I'm not really sure why you are flashing with all these different ROMS to be quite honest. I'm assuming that when you flash with these ROMS you aren't letting customs run? What ROM are you eventually going to be using? Do you care about being able to enable GPS?
All I care about right now is getting the PPP username and password changed.
It seems as though I cannot access the nvm folder using EFS File Explorer. I am trying to use QXDM, but I have no idea how to use it. Does anyone know what the commands are for changing PPP in QXDM?

Dude...flash with the official Verizon ROM linked below. Let customs run. Once complete dial *228 and choose option #1. Once that is complete you may have to call #8899 to get a new authentication key. Make sure your phone is unlocked with the 2.31 imcokeman unlocker, which I assume it is since you are already flashing away with various ROMs. Once you do this your settings will be fixed. You shouldn't be editing them the way you are trying. REFLASH WITH OFFICIAL VERIZON ROM...nuff said.

This is what I would do as well. What radio on you on. You say 3.43, but there is no 3.43. Check in Device Info in settings.
It souunds like you flashed an altel rom and let custmizations run.
Try flashing the stock rom (from verizon) and let customizations run. Then follow the steps to listed earlier in this thread (think the site was wiki pda) to get aGPS running. I wouldn't call Verizon for an A key until you are done flashing. Then the easy way to repopulate your phone is to go online to verizon my account and activate another phone on your line, then active your 6900. When you do this it automaticlly sends a new A key and don't have to try and explain to tech why you need it done.
Good luck
Okay I am doing that now. You are correct, I did let customizations run...
However, I was able to forcibly edit the NV Items using CDMA Workshop and that seemed to work...until I tried to edit the password with QPST. So I will give it a try and if it still doesn't work, I will just re-write the NV Items everytime I use QPST. Thanks guys.

The sreps I was refering to were in the rom thread, but here is a link.
http://wiki.ppchaven.com/index.php?title=Pocket_PC_WIki:FIX_VERIZON_GPS
I would be very careful changing stuff to verizon already.
I went into the alltel store and they won't even activate a verizon phone yet
because if you have verizon software they will bill you on a different account on verizon (if you're still under an alltel contract), which means that you will be being billed per minute and for data as a pay as you go plan.
she said this is because verizon and alltel billing systems aren't fully integrated yet.
so if you haven't resigned a verizon contract yet, meaning you're still on your original alltel contract, be careful.

[Q] Help! Radio for 4G!!!

ok, i have full root, everything is done correct, super user access...everything
I had Damage Control 3.1.2, updated the radio it worked fine! then i went and updated wimax..and everything went to hell!!
i have tried to switching back and fourth between the different wimax radios, and sometimes it would come back..well i got sick of messing with it so i went back to stock with root! and now i cant seem to get 4g to work!
Under the Menu settings, software Info:
Firmware Version: 2.1-update1
Baseband Version: 1.36.00.04.02
Kernel Version: 2.6.29-ac94cf60 [email protected]#1
Build Number: 1.17.651.1
Browser Version: WebKit 3.1
PRI Version: 1.34_003
PRL Version: 60669
i just need to know which radio i should re try just to get my 4g back!!!
please help asap
Your title was a little misleading so I canged it accordingly.
I would suggest trying this to get you to 1.47 with all the the correct radio/wimax
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715915
Test that out -- it worked great for me.
From there, go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=743352 and download the 2.2 Rooted Odexed ROM, New radio, and new wimax. Follow the directions and make sure to do a full reboot after flashing each.

trying it now! im trying to avoid going to 2.2 until DamageControl releases their version...but i hope this works!
hey do i need to re root also? because i lost my root
wait, i just red you had to install super user, and its suppose to automatically root/nand/ and do everything? how is this possible
Can you post a little bit more detail as to what issues you are experiencing?
Is your 4G just stuck on scanning?
Is your 4G scanning > connecting to sprint > obtaining IP address > back to scanning > etc etc endless loop.
Have you checked to make sure your wimax mac id is still correct?
What area are you in? Try posting to see if anyone else in your area is experiencing problems. Just worth a try because earlier last week, I went through the trouble of flashing a bunch of different radios, reading through a bunch of fixes only to find out that other people in my area couldn't get 4G to sign on either. So it turned out that it was an issue with Sprint itself. Had to go one week without 4G but now its back on and its faster than before.

yes that is the problem i was going through, but at certain times on DamageControl it would start to work if i got lucky and got the right Wimax to work

super user does not automatically do anything. it simply provides /system access to those applications that require it.
if you applied either the leaked or the official froyo update that was not modified to maintain root access, you are out of luck for the time being.

That was the exact same problem I had on my phone. It turns out that 4G was just down in the area. I even went through the trouble of reflashing my wimax radios. What city are you in right now? I can try to search other forums to see if there are others in your area experiencing the same issues.
What you can do if you are still restless, run ADB and run wimax_mtd, you can either use ADB or you can also download Terminal Emulator from the market.
then type
su
wimax_mtd
Go through it and check to see if your wimax mac address is still correct by verifying it with the address you have underneath the battery.
Next would be to check if your user login info is still correct. It should be [email protected] I believe you can check this in the data settings. Just dial ##data#, you might need your MSL, but I think you can still go into view mode without the MSL. Im not really the best at explaining things in detail if any of this dont make sense, feel free to msg me. I'm fairly new but I do know how it felt to have 4G stop working all of a sudden.
Also I believe if you updated your wimax, your base rom must match for it to work. Such as the wimax from the 1.47 ota, you must be running a 1.47 base rom.
I assumed that you still had root. If you are not rooted, you are out of luck. You will need to root your phone before using the method. If you are on 2.2 without root, you are completely out of luck.
Using the whitslack method will not root/unlock nand for you -- it simply will update your phone to 1.47 with the corresponding radios.

If you ran the first part of Whitslack's method (putting the PC36IMG on your SD card and running it in bootloader) just do the second part (putting the superuser.apk on your SD card and flashing it in custom recovery) and you will have full root again.

i did man i installed superuser, and i have it, whats the easiest way to check for the root?
Rom Manager?
Update for our convo*
Ok just re got rom manager, and flashed Clockwork, so my root is still there
Actually I used whitslacks method and I did retain root. Since his pc136img contains the Dev hboot all I had to do was just as his thread says flash the superuser zip when you are done
Wow ignore my response was replying but the above posters have already beat me to it.

now do you guys think i should attempt to go back to DamageControl, and not mess with the radios this time..and it will still work?
If you are running the latest radios and wimax radio I would flash one of the newer 2.2 froyo roms.

Even if Sprint had sent out an OTA update it SHOULDN'T have affected you because, having a rooted phone, you SHOULDN'T be accepting any OTA updates anyway.
I have a couple of questions for you though.
1. Do you use Google Voice?
2. If Yes, is your Sprint number integrated with Google Voice?
3. What baseband radio are you using?
4. What root method did you use? unrEVOked or Revolutionary?

Not sure if your ROM is sense based or not. If it is then you may want to try the Sprint ## codes in order to reset and calibrate your phones network signal. This MAY help.

Yea, the synergy-god mode is a sense rom. But I do remember some things not being compatible with that rom because of the god mode. So check the thread OP as well.

Would that include the ## codes? I thought the compatibility issues was limited to themes and mods. I only used that ROM for like 5 minutes before flashing something else. Didn't have some of the features I was needing and so I never actually looked any farther into it.
Can you send MMS? I would also make sure your mms server is mm.myboostmobile.com an didnt revert back to the sprint.

[Q] MSL Update from Sprint to Ting

I have a rooted Sprint Note 2 with Moon Rom installed. I was not able to keep paying the high cost of Sprint service so i tried porting my number from Sprint to Ting which Ting confirmed it was successful in the transfer. Problem i am having is updating the MSL to Ting.
##72786# brings me to a SCRTN screen which has no options to change MSL and also disables receiving signal until a restart. When i try to enter data settings, it allows me to edit with the Ting MSL code though. Updating PRL, Profile, and Hands free activation do not help.
I was able to update MSL on a Epic 4G by using a multiboot rom made especially for that kind of task.
Does anyone have a method for completing the MSL change to Ting or know of a Stock Rom that is trustworthy for MSL changes?
Thanks in advance.
To change your msl you need to use the ljc radio/baseband and the dfs program. You can find radios in the stickies and a link to dfs in this section in the thread about flashing the note.

I was afraid it might be that complicated. Did Sprint wise up about dialer codes and changing the MSL through a stock ROM? I'm on a Mac, so half the time i can't use alot of the programming software out there if it needs to be done by computer. If the MSL can be changed by putting in a stock ROM, let me know, otherwise i will look into DFS.
Update: I was reading through the forum page for DFS setup. Since i am able to enter the Ting MSL into the phone when i change MSL and data settings, doesnt that mean my MSL is already changed to Ting or is something still missing in my settings? I didnt see a setup process for Sprint to Ting specifically on the DFS forum page. It does however mention that if you get an error code 16 when you try to dial a number, that is a connection problem on Sprint's part where they need to do a "CHLS Refresh" in their system to clear service for the phone which is what happens when i try to dial out on the Note 2. I'd rather not have to mess with DFS if i can avoid it, so if this sounds familiar , let me know.
Thanks for the help.
