When I try to save the PPP settings for verizon (they are currently set to: [email protected] and I need to change to [email protected]), the settings continue to revert back to alltel!!! I really need some help with this - why would I be able to change every other setting via QPST except for PPP username and psw? Does anyone know if this has something to do with the registry? Thanks so much!
"I'm not really sure why you are editing these fields in QPST or why you would need to. If you have Verizon, flash with the latest WM6.1 that Verizon released, then flash with this ROM. Once you do *228 and get activated these settings will all be configured automatically."
I did that - I need these settings corrected so that I can access data. I am unable to do so because the settings keep reverting back to [email protected], even after I just changed them! I just now flashed back to the Sprint Stock ROM with radio 3.43 and still is unchanged!
I don't know what to do... I'm really freaking out - I did flash to an alltel ROM in the past, but why aren't the newer ROMS overwriting the old PPP settings???? Is it a radio problem (shouldn't be because I just flashed with Sprint radio ROM)
In any case, no matter what ROM I use, I cannot edit the PPP username and psw - it always reverts back to alltel. Does anyone know what I should do? Thanks!
P.S - I also installed the dcd Verizon Wireless carrier cabs and still no go...
I'm not really sure why you are flashing with all these different ROMS to be quite honest. I'm assuming that when you flash with these ROMS you aren't letting customs run? What ROM are you eventually going to be using? Do you care about being able to enable GPS?
All I care about right now is getting the PPP username and password changed.
It seems as though I cannot access the nvm folder using EFS File Explorer. I am trying to use QXDM, but I have no idea how to use it. Does anyone know what the commands are for changing PPP in QXDM?

Dude...flash with the official Verizon ROM linked below. Let customs run. Once complete dial *228 and choose option #1. Once that is complete you may have to call #8899 to get a new authentication key. Make sure your phone is unlocked with the 2.31 imcokeman unlocker, which I assume it is since you are already flashing away with various ROMs. Once you do this your settings will be fixed. You shouldn't be editing them the way you are trying. REFLASH WITH OFFICIAL VERIZON ROM...nuff said.

This is what I would do as well. What radio on you on. You say 3.43, but there is no 3.43. Check in Device Info in settings.
It souunds like you flashed an altel rom and let custmizations run.
Try flashing the stock rom (from verizon) and let customizations run. Then follow the steps to listed earlier in this thread (think the site was wiki pda) to get aGPS running. I wouldn't call Verizon for an A key until you are done flashing. Then the easy way to repopulate your phone is to go online to verizon my account and activate another phone on your line, then active your 6900. When you do this it automaticlly sends a new A key and don't have to try and explain to tech why you need it done.
Good luck
Okay I am doing that now. You are correct, I did let customizations run...
However, I was able to forcibly edit the NV Items using CDMA Workshop and that seemed to work...until I tried to edit the password with QPST. So I will give it a try and if it still doesn't work, I will just re-write the NV Items everytime I use QPST. Thanks guys.

The sreps I was refering to were in the rom thread, but here is a link.
http://wiki.ppchaven.com/index.php?title=Pocket_PC_WIki:FIX_VERIZON_GPS
I would be very careful changing stuff to verizon already.
I went into the alltel store and they won't even activate a verizon phone yet
because if you have verizon software they will bill you on a different account on verizon (if you're still under an alltel contract), which means that you will be being billed per minute and for data as a pay as you go plan.
she said this is because verizon and alltel billing systems aren't fully integrated yet.
so if you haven't resigned a verizon contract yet, meaning you're still on your original alltel contract, be careful.

I flashed the rom using IMCokeMan's cool tool and then installed a bunch of apps.
But then I found that while the device can see the EVDO network, as soon as a program tries to use it, the program stalls and then waits for the phone to revert to using the 1X (GPRS?) method.
Any idea how to troubleshoot this?
Thanks,
RS

what rom did you flash to, was it a custom rom off ppcgeeks, or did you flash with an elf (gsm) rom
the vogue (CDMA) touch uses 1xRTT slower data and EVDO which is the faster (3G) data, not gprs like GSM devices
Used CokeMan Vogue Rom
I just followed these directions:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=12255&page=2
I have the Sprint Vogue and that rom is supposed to be for Vogue.
I keep trying the "initiate custom nai entry to device" under settings->phone->internet->get settings.
My phone can see the EVDO but cannot use it. It defaults to 1X and drains the hell out of my battery.
It's possible it's a sprint outage in SF, but I don't know.

i would post in the forum for the individual who made the rom (usually they have a thread going on over there at ppcgeeks.com) honestly i dunno why your using a custom rom on the touch there isnt any out with any new features really (yet) if anything they have the OEM rom so you can flash back, otherwise call tech support your device may need to be re-provisioned which would require tech support to assist with
Only 1xrtt fix
This happened to me too. Call sprint tech support and have them do a depro repro on your account. Basically they reset your vision setting on your account and force a OTA provisioning.
Re
Me too noobs in these things and flushed my rom and got in serious trouble and called pc expert and get fixed
Same prob found this
##778 choose edit,to unlock s/b 000000, tap view info, then security make sure the HDR AN AUTH Password is your phones ESN
You just need to update your roaming list. Call support and they will give you a program code to call to update the roaming list. That is all that is wrong.
Cheers.
Im sorry to bother everyone with another thread and yes ive read everything on the internet trying to get this solved.
I have an xv6900 that is obviously on Verizon. I can get the GPS to lock and have tried many things. Instead of going through everything I will tell you what I just did and you can let me know what I did wrong of what I'm missing.
-First my phone is unlocked with coke 2.3.1
-I just flashed the official Verizon 6.1 update to my phone
-I did not allow customizations to run
-I installed NFSFAN's 6.1 ROM and let customizations run
Ok that is all I have done right now and no GPS. I didn't do the aGPS fix yet because it takes a little while and the last time it didn't help.
Here is what im confused about
-With the official Verizon radio but a custom ROM do I need the Valhalla hack?
-Are there any other cabs that I need to get it to work? I have seen various provisioning cabs but none of them helped before.
If you have read this far thank you for taking your time and please let me know if you have any ideas on how I can get this working.
Thank You,
thecaptain0220
This is my understanding
(1) The XV6900 uses the onboard gpsOne chip to gather gps data. Unless you do the programming explained at
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=VerizonAGPSFix
the phone with custom ROMS will never get any gps information.
As near as I can tell the gps settings in the phone's registry have no effect on the XV6900 because the gpsOne chip does the work and it is programmed separate from the phone's ROM.
Mine works with the TELUS settings in the gpsOne programming and I can change the registry every which way and the gps still follows the gpsOne settings.
Hope this helps.
(2) The verizon aGPS server authenticates the caller and if you are not paying for Verizon navigator the server will not send back any data; effectively killing the aGPS ability of the phone.
That is why you see references to the TELUS aGPS settings. This directs the gpsOne chip tou use the TELUS aGPS server, this works as long as TELUS allows it to work.
Thanks for the quick reply.
So if I flashed the official wm 6.1 Verizon update followed by NFSFAN's wm 6.1 ROM what fix should I do? Should I do Custom ROM aGPS, Verizon MR1 GPS, or Verizon MR2 GPS?
I am unclear when people say that Verizon cripples the GPS whether it is done in the Radio or the ROM.
I can flash a new radio too if that is what needs to be done. I wanted to keep the Verizon radio so that it said Verizon on start up but if I cant do that its not a big deal.
When you flash the Verizon 5.1 update DO NOT let the customizations run.
When the 'customization in 3 seconds' window comes up reset your phone by pressing the stylus in the hole on the bottom of the phone.
You already have the Verzion radio and do not need any of the programs they are going to install because you are going to flash a custom ROM.
After it resets do the gpsOne programming explained at http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=VerizonAGPSFix. This programs the gpsOne chip in the phone so it can communicate with an aGPS server. Use the TELUS settings for IP and PORT not the VERIZON ones in the Wiki.
TELUS IP = 216.198.139.92
TELUS PORT = 8889
Then load any custom ROM you want. the gpsOne programming is not affected by flashing a ROM to the phone, it will work with what ever one you choose to use.
Did you read this thread and do what it says? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=533639 I did and my XV6900 gps works great now.
I was going to try that but I have heard that downgrading to an older radio is not a good idea. Has anyone done this? Is there a correct procedure to flash back to an older radio?
I think I might have figured out one of my problems but I'm not sure where to go from here. I did allow the customizations to run on the official 6.1 upgrade a while back. I assumed that re flashing the upgrade and not allowing the customizations to run would fix this but I think I'm wrong, could someone confirm this for me? Is flashing back to an older ROM the only way to fix this? If so what steps can I follow to minimize the risk of bricking the phone when downgrading? If this is a totally bad idea someone please say so now.

The fact that you let the customizations run means you are fairly screwed. You can probably get your Gps to work. I would flash a pre-GPS ROM & start over if having a functioning GPS is important to you.
Can someone tell me where I can get a stock carrier release for Verizon?

To fix the problem with the customizations running try these steps. It worked for me and all the links to files are included in the post.

After you flash back and then forward to the newer radio you will need to call Verizon and have them re-authenticate your phone. Just tell them you applied the 6.1 update from 6.0 and they will be glad to help.

If not then here is WM6.1 Stock

Thank you to everyone who helped me out on this one, I now have aGPS and lock on satellites in a few seconds. I am even getting satellites inside my office where I hardly get cell reception.
For future reference if anyone reads this later here are the steps I used. The problem was definitely that I had let the customizations run.
I followed this link first, Pocket PC WIki:FIX VERIZON GPS
I had no problems at all and I didn't even have to get a new A-key.
Then I followed the Custom ROM Instructions in this link Verizon AGPSFix
IMPORTANT: I also followed VZYGuy's advice and use the following settings instead of the Verizon info in the fix.
TELUS IP = 216.198.139.92
TELUS PORT = 8889
After all this everything is finally working great and im using the Verizon radio with NFSFAN's 6.1 ROM

Great! It's good to know it worked for someone other than me.
This also is the way to fix the XV6900 if it comes new from Verizon with wm6.1 already installed with the 'crippled' GPS drivers.

I am pretty sure being rooted will not prevent you from flashing to Metro. If anything, being rooted is necessary. S-off will not have an adverse effect on the flashing to Metro process, either.
Everything you need to know is here:

I got it to root prior to reading this. I will take to M PCS and see if flash is successful (this time around)

Wait.......you're taking the Evo to Metro PCS? I don't think they are going to be very helpful seeing as this is not something they condone. What you need (and please read the thread to clarify because I have never personally done this myself but will be doing it soon for a friend of mine) is to have an existing account with Metro so that you can add the info from that account to the Evo and therefore activating on Metro. Unless you know someone that works there and knows what they are doing with this, I don't think you should bother taking it over to them.
Sorry, I should have clarified: I am existing and need to have phone Metro Flashed to get the service. Merely adding the # isn't working as I am on their system already.
I lost the Metro Flash when I screwed up my 1st attempt at rooting.
Here's the problem. Evo is stock & unrooted. People at Metro (right now) are saying that they can't get their computers to read my evo so they are re-downloading drivers, etc. It failed first attempt (today) to metroflash.
I was successful at another corp. store and may need to try where it succeeded.

So Metro is helping you flash a phone from another carrier over to them? Talk about customer service! lol
For what it's worth I've never even had to have an EVO rooted to swap its carrier.
Keep in mind though, if you put any AOSP ROM on your phone you will lose the ability to enter ##DIAG# to enter diagnostic mode, and lose the EPST stuff. (For editing settings on the phone, not through QPST/CDMA WS)
If you are flashed to metro or in my case cricket, and you root then you might lose web/mms. Talk and text can be obtained without rooting but web and mms need rooting to run on the proxy work around.

that's the part (AOSP) I didn't realize when I got into android flashing/rooting...
Could've saved me a lot of heartache had I been patient and did more homework on XDA.
I am using the Jiminy V Rom on Cricket
I am unable to OTA or make calls on the Cricket network. when I try and make a call I get 'Unauthorized' and when I try to OTA (*228) the system says 'unable' at the very beginning. I have done many EVO's to cricket before, and I have checked and double checked all my PST settings, my MEID/MIN/MDN/PRL particularly.
Even when OTA doesnt work , I can always get voice/text working on virtually any other phone by manually programming the MDN/MIN/Home SID & PRL.
My cricket home SID is 4923 & I am using PRL 32200
I have even loaded a working evo's PST settings into this phone (via QPST, read from one phone, write to another), and get same results even after making sure the MDN/MIN & MEID are correct.
The symptoms are exactly the same as if my MEID is not in the cricket system, yet I have triple checked them (and I had someone else program another phone with my MEID and that phone OTA'd and made calls on Cricket with no problem).
Some other data for consideration Android 2.1, build Baseband 2.15.00……007.25 kernel 2.6., Radio 2.05.00.06.10, HBOOT 0.79.0000 SHIP S-OFF
I have also tried factory builds 2.2 (3.26.651.6) and 2.1, (Baseband 2.05.00.06.10,Build 1.41.651.1) with same result. Note: they did not change the PST.
Is there a factory build which will put everything back to Sprint or should I consider updating the HBoot and /or Radio?, I assume the programming for the OTA is done in the Radio?
I am stumped.
Bump, If anybody can help me with this, its been driving me up the wall for two weeks now.,
Have you tried flashing an RUU and updating everything from there? If it isn't the MEID then it might just be your phone having a glitch. Flash it using RUU and let me know.
how do you reset PST/NAM (SPC,MIN,MDN, Etc) to factory?
I have tried RUU_Supersonic_1.32.651.1_Radio_1.39.00.04.26_release_171253.exe , hboot goes from 0.92 to 0.79, radio from 2.15 to 1.39.00.04.26, and android from 2.2 to 2.1.
But the pst/nam settings remain unchanged, mdn, min, sip, nai, etc are all cricket. even the SPC is still unlocked at 000000. ANd the S-OFF flag is off, Shouldnt the RUU's re-root the phone?
Is there an alternate way to run the RUU, I have tried putting the phone in HBOOT usb mode, then run the RUU but with three different batteries it tells me they are too low (under 30%).
Should I be in Hboot mode to run RUU? (I have been running it from the PC with the phone booted up.
To answer a couple of my own questions, none of the RUU's reset the EPST whether they where loaded from the PC via the .exe method or from the SD card PB31IMG method.
I found a reference to ##786# and found that yes that does reset the EPST (including the SPC) back to factory.
So I figured maybe the problem would be solved, so I updated PST for cricket (MDN,MIN,SID,PRL) and tried again, still no OTA and still 'Unauthoriized; when I try to make calls.
I am starting to believe I have a hardware problem, but how can most of the phone work and yet it have (apparently) problems transmitting MEID?
Seems like no interest here or everybody stumped. I am willing to pay some one to help me resolve this. contact to my email or post here, I will certainly let the forum know when I resolve this. Thanks

Your problem has different symptoms from mine (the threadstarter), it sounds like your prl is incorrect. If you have a correct prl & sid (these can vary for the market you are in , in Phoenix the SID is 4923 and I use the old nationwide non EVDO PRL of 1040) when you dial 611 you will get Cricket, regardless of your ESN/MEID being registered with Cricket, if this doesnt work do not go further. Find a PRL/SID that works (sometimes changing CDMA connect from Auto to Home only can help) . Also make sure MNC/MNC are set to 310/0. Country code/Carrier I think.
Once you get 611 to connect to Cricket, *228 (OTA) will connect to cricket, if It disconnects you before the music starts playing and says 'Sorry....' it is most likely your MEID is not registered correctly with Cricket. In Phoenix *228 always works on EVo's as long as SID/PRL/MEID are correct,
The message you are getting about a credit card required means you are connnecting to some other carriers network (usually Verizon) which is transferring you to someplace to allow you to make a call even though you are
"not authorized" on the network. Go back and check 611 & *228.*228 will load the correct prl for your area and rate plan, check after it runs to see what was loaded. It will also most likely overwrite EVDO settings including MIP, Sip, NAI, etc.
At this point your phone should work, talk & text.
I had the same problem and I look all over. I wanted to unroot and remove jimmy v rom. I was think that if i update to the new update that it will fix it self and i was right. Can you be more specificwhat you loaded and what versions of hboot where involved? I downgraded to 2.1 (with RUU) and hboot .79 and it did not resolve problem.
Hi,
I need a little help if you dont mind. I'll get right to it.
I wasnt getting any mms on my marvelc so I did what I would have done on my old evo 3d, ##3282# then entered my msl. After that I selected data profile and restored it (which erased my data profile). On sprint network, after you do that then reboot the phone, it does hands free activation, this one doesnt do that. So I went to settings/about phone/activate phone. it went through the process and now I dont have data either, hehe, ya I know.
So I called VM and they did a 3g reconnect or something and it didnt work either. They were supposed to call me back but they didnt.
So after waiting an hour I decided they were'nt calling me back and I thought I could just RUU it back and I'd probably have my data profile back.
I got the VM/Sprint RUU from here http://www.filefactory.com/f/7b4aa0a541dcf00f/ and relocked my bootloader, then I went back to hboot and ran the RUU. It did most of the installing but stopped at hboot install and gave me an error about the hboot being a lower version and it wouldnt flash. I assume this is because I upgraded my hboot to htcdev unlock. So I'm thinking I need a newer RUU with the new hboot?
I also extracted the rom.zip from the RUU and renamed it to PG76IMG.zip and tried to flash it from hboot and it said my main version is lower, so it wouldnt go either. Do you have a lower main ver and do you know the commands to change it?
Or do you know the settings that I need to put in the data profile?
Thanks for the help.
Update. Figured out how to change the main version so I can run the RUU.
Update 2. RUU worked with the tool I used and now hboot is back to 1.06, without the relocked banner, very cool, that tool is awesome, thanks theq86. But unfortunately it didn't fix my data problem, it did give me my warranty back though
Bump for the night crew.
If anyone here has Virgin mobile us, could you please tell me a few things.
Please dial ##3282# (##data#) and select edit mode, itll ask for your password (msl). If you dont have it, you can get it with "msl reader" from the market, its free. Enter your msl and then choose edit mode.
This is what I need, PLEASE.
Active profile <--- How many
User name <--- I dont need your user name I just need to know what goes here.
SPI MN-HA <---?
SPI MN-AAA <---?
Reverse tunnel preferred <--- Enable or Disable?
Home IP Address <---?
Primary Home Agent <---?
Second Home Agent <---?
HA Shared Secret <---?
AAA Shared Secret <---?
I dont think any of this information is a secret but you can pm it to me if you dont want to post it.
Any information will help at this point. Thanks.
hi
may sound a bit obvious but are you sure you have turned on mobile data??
and if not you may need to set up the correct apn (access point name) if you dont have it drop into your local service providers shop and ask them to fill it in for you
my wildfire (buzz) has a lot of issues with incorrect apn settings when i switch between roms. and if you dont have the correct setting your mobile data will not work. so give that a bash if you havent already.
good luck

Thanks for the reply, I wish that was my problem, but its not. When I went to edit mode after typing ##data# I chose to restore and that zero'd out all my data profile settings (smart huh). After talking to the 3rd tier of tech support they said that they needed to send my case to HQ. He said he'd done all he could. I just need those settings back. I asked him if he knew the AAA shared secret and he didn't know what I was talking about. The mobile data setting says no connection available when it is checked.
brutal man. sorry hopefully someone else can help out
Sorry to resurrect this thread but I just wanted to update it incase someone else has the same issue I did.
After about 2 weeks and about 50 virgin mobile reps later, they finally told me that my phone cannot be fixed. I told them exactly what happened and they still thought its because of a bad phone, whatever, I'm not gonna argue. I ran an ruu, did multiple factory resets, did a ## code to activate the phone, they reactivated the phone, nothing restored my data profile. I thought for sure that the ruu would do it but I guess the ruu is just HTC software and what I need is virgin mobile data.
Lesson learned, do not erase your data profile or you're screwed. I think theres a way to back that stuff up and I'm gonna do some research to figure it out. I should have my new wildfire s in about 3 days. I know that someone woulda helped if they could have so thanks anyway.
