I have a question about unrooting. If you had the stock kernel, but just edited out the install recovery script that removes root, couldn't you just reinstall this script (or reinstall a stock kernel) and delete the superuser app? Wouldn't that put you back on stock recovery after reboot without root? Just a question...
Yes, in theory that should work.

Click on the folder "Recover w/o Odin" and you will see the CWM flashable files for boot animation and stock recovery.
Also are the stock deodexed roms that Kenny made.
Not that I'm planning on doing this, unless I needed to upgrade my phone...If I did upgrade I'd probably just reflash the whole stock tar back to FC09.
I'm trying to flash the latest FI25 for my phone according to posting
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1906966
I've always flashed through ODIN or one click.
I downloaded deodexed version. After unzipping the file, found out it simply is 2 file folders, can anyone teach me how to flash this to my phone?
Also, op mentioned don't flash if using Agat's repacks, how do I know if current build in my phone is Agat's repack?
You have to have a custom recovery installed. You can use Odin to install one if you don't have it. Copy the zip to your phone and install from recovery.

thank you for the quick reply. As I'm not super knowledgeable with all this, I'll probably wait for a odin-one-click version to be released. When it comes to flashing my daily used phone, I get nervous if something goes wrong.

I would like to be able to flash stock 2.3.4 for my Galaxy Gio GT-S5660M from TWRP recovery. How about would I go compiling the META-INF folder (which includes the update-binary and updater-script)? I have already extracted the /system directory and the boot.img from the rom. If you'd like to download the stock ROM here's the link: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BwfkTu8oetfPNUx1N3Z6TUhUaWc/edit If you would to unpack the .tar within the .rar, the password is 'sampro.pl'.
How do I create the updater-script and update-binary? And after that, how do I zip up the files and sign them so I don't get an error?
Take it from another rom
A stock based one.

Thank you for that bit of information. I was unsure of what to do until you said that! I took the whole META-INF folder from the Arpeggiomod ROM and also the boot.img because it is an ext4 ROM whereas stock is rfs. Technically, my ROM isn't stock but modified stock. Farewell!
I root my sprint sg3 with root66_SPR_L710VPBLJ7, then with rootkeeper update to mb1 and now md4. I have a stock rom and stock recovery. Is there any way to flash Odex Hotspot mode without having to change my stock recovery.
Unzip the flashable he provides, then copy the files to /system using a root explorer and then reboot

Thanks CNexus, it worked great, all original.
:good:
Yup
Just a small note, that only worked because he used the stock files and you're on stock rooted and not a custom rom
On any other rom it probably would've given you bootloops
I have the Clockword recovery and CM 10.1 installed on my Sprint Galaxy S3 running on PagePlus
I would like to flash a Touchwiz rom. Which one can I flash using the Clockword Recovery (lightweight)?
Why is MD4 not flashable using Clockwork?
Thanks.
The official update is NOT flashable.using any custom recovery, custom meaning anything other than stock recovery.
And you can flash any Touchwiz rom with CWM recovery, as the MD4 update is not a ROM. OTAs are not full ROMs on their own, they are collection of files that patch the already existing apps to the most recent versions.
If you want to update to MD4, you simply need flash a custom ROM that is based on MD4 (check the thread titles and OPs), or you can flash freezas stock rooted MD4 ROM, not the update.

Thanks. That makes a few things clear.
Could you provide any suggestions on a Touchwiz ROM as close to the stock as possible, but preserves root of-course and does not require me to change my recovery. Thanks a lot. (I see you mentioned freezas and I'll try to find it, but just making sure).

Just to be doubly sure, here is what I do:
1) Download the file "MD4_update_FULL_Odex.zip" - The first link in the thread.
2) Place it on SDCard
3) Flash zip from SDCard using the CWM Based Recovery v5.5.0.4
The post in that thread confused me. And I did not want to mess up anything. I especially don't want to update the radio and firmware etc because I've flashed the phone to PagePlus and I'm not sure what that'll do to it.
Flashing Cyanogen any number of times in the past has had no effect.
Thanks agian.

Yes, that is correct
However, I would suggest to take this opportunity to update your recovery, as you are a full revision behind
The latest CWM can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2151476
Download that recovery zip, boot into recovery, flash the recovery.zip, then go to advanced > reboot recovery, wait a bit for.it to reboot, and then flash the MD4odexed.zip
