So I just ordered a nexus tab off out of the play store, and will be giving may A100 to the wife and kid. I am currently unlocked/rooted/CWM, and running an old version of flexreaper "R3.1". I also have crossix memory swap mod as well.
I hope to revert the thing back to the stock Acer setup, and get it back on the OTA's and whatnot. Is there a safe way to go back. I have seen alot of threads about people bricking their tabs trying to do so, but no threads about a succsessfull method.
If that just isn't a good idea, the tab runs great as is. Is there a safe way to run the "factory data reset" and get my wifes google account set up as the primary, and me off of it?
Anything I need to worry about like
recovery files
boot images
etc
that need to be gone before I do the factory reset?
Thanks guys.

Restoring to stock I'm not sure about but here's the run down for resetting:
Reboot into recovery
Wipe cache
Wipe dalvik
Wipe data
Wipe system
Flash your FR again
Reboot
Wait 10 minutes, reboot
Setup with new account info and rock on.
Its a bit excessive but its the best way to reset without leaving anything behind. No need to worry about any images or anything like that unless you plan to install a different recovery.

That formats where settings and apps are installed, but not internal SD, so keep that in mind. But yes, a factory reset will just put it back to the beginning. Also, consider this: its just a simple format, anyone can still pull whatever data was there back out of it. It's not even hard, just takes some time.
You could also use Pio's Black hole script.

Well they don't seem to want to much past minimum to reset it otherwise I'd say system nullify before selling. Not a speck of data left behind /shrug
Edit that sounded a little harsher then I intended. I think its more to do with not being rooted so they can only simple reset.

I just recently sold a Galaxy Nexus to a Kijiji buyer. I quickly did a factory data reset before meeting him, assuming that the reset would remove all my files like it said it would do in the settings. However, I've become paranoid that the reset never deleted the internal storage files, so all my photos, music, and other files could still be on that phone. I feel extremely stupid for asking this question, and a downright n00b, but I just want to make sure or confirm that those files got deleted. Thanks.

If you were 100% stock recovery and all.. then yes it deletes all the internal data. Sdcard and all, you should be just fine. Now go to sleep.. everything is going to be all right.

Yup, yakju 4.0.4, stock recovery, kernel... etc. Thanks, puts my mind a ease, hahaha.
How can I completely wipe my phone, basically make it brand new, while keeping root/unlock status? I'm getting ready to sell it on Swappa. I have moved on to the HTC One. It is a superrrr nice phone. Went to AT&T, needed better coverage at school
Thank you in advance!
in your recovery there are wipe options and there should be one that says wipe internal, that'll erase all your sd card. then with the regular wipe you can wipe data so all your apps are erased.
Problem. After a full wipe, I can no longer use the Keyboard. It keeps saying LG Keyboard has stopped. I can't access wifi to download another one cause I can't type in the password.. dalskfjdkls;jfsdal

Couldn't find a thread on this and this may be a COMPLETE noob question...
I've never dealt with a phone that couldn't hold an SD card and I'm hoping to get the HTC One soon. I root/switch roms on all my phones.
I was just wondering, since the HTC One doesn't hold an SD card, what happens when I flash a ROM?
Usually, if I am correct, wiping data removes everything on the phones internal storage, and since the HTC One doesn't have external storage, will everything (songs, pictures, etc) be erased upon ROM switch?
I'm just baffled if it's all erased upon switching. Sorry for noob question, as I stated, I don't deal with phones with no external storage, so thanks XDA.

IIRC there's a virtual SD card where certain things dont get wiped (I think titanium backup accesses this)

Do you happen to know of it's accessible via computer or a file manager app? (or custom recoveries?)

Its nothing different from dealing with a standard SD card. When you wipe you're wiping data (not internal storage but app data) cache and possibly dalvik and system. None if which will end up wiping your saved files on SD card unless you select wipe internal storage. Just to note HTC or Verizon blocked us from unlocking bootkoaders right now so no go on that except for a few that did it day one.

Recoveries differentiate between internal storage and the virtual "/sdcard", so that won't be wiped.

just don't accidentally hit erase internal like I did!
you'll be stuck in recovery/bootloader with nothing to flash, no nandroids nothing
took forever to fix my horrible mistake.
been trying like hell to find an easy way to switch the menu order in TWRP. there is no reason why the internal wipe is right above system wipe.
alphabetical or not, it's set up for failure.
Learn from my misfortune!
eventually I was able to adb devices in fastboot to and it read my device, and eventually was able to get the phone mounted in recovery to adb push a rom.zip to flash.
nothing fun!

I cannot possible count the amount of times i hit that button and was half a swipe away from erasing my internal on my S3... The flow goes against us all.
Thanks guys, swayed my opinion toward the One in the right direction. I'll be sure to watch the HTC one development until an S-OFF method becomes available. I think we remember the Rezounds S-OFF o.0
Where there's a will there's a way. I'll also try not to lose my data on the internal SD card, probably back up my photos every so often. Thanks again.

Let's just hope we have the support we had for the Rezound, I truly hope someone will help bring this phone to life and give it the justice it deserves! S-OFF, and the DEV claims his much deserved bounty.
There is one wrinkle with these HTC internal sdcard partitions that people need to be aware of. If you select factory reset in bootloader rather than recovery, the whole thing can become corrupted so that you lose all your data. Everything. I've seen people do this and then panic thinking they've bricked their phones. It's fixable, but you have to reformat externally using your computer.
Wiping in recovery preserves the /sdcard partition. So as a general rule, wipe ONLY in recovery, NEVER in bootloader.

How would one then completely factory reset their phone like you were allowed to on the Rezound? Just install the default ROM in H-Boot? (Well, not ROM, but I think you get what I'm saying, the P9H-blah.zip).

Factory reset inside Sense will wipe all user data.
I'm flashing my phone with a new ROM, and I'd love to clean my phone out completely. I noticed when I did the standard wipe data/cache/dalvik, I'm still left with all of the other junk from my previous install (draw something, photos, etc.). How do I go about cleaning out my phone without screwing anything up? I've been Google searching what the exact steps to do so are, but all I can find is people wondering how to fix the screw ups I'm trying to avoid.
I'm using TWRP v2.6.3.0.
Thanks.
edit: Apparently I can't English at 4am.
Bump. Anyone? I figured this would be a simple one for most of you guys.

I will format data also. This gets rid of the extra files from previous downloads that is not always cleaned by factory reset.

I'm assuming that you've also been doing factory resets?
If you have and that's still not getting rid of enough for you, there's an option in TWRP to wipe your storage (see the last paragraph in particular: http://teamw.in/whattowipe) and get rid of everything, though I've never done it myself. You'd obviously have to be careful about having your nandroids, backups, and the ROM you want to flash somewhere else ready to go after you've wiped.
I'd wait for confirmation from someone who's done it before giving it a go, mind you.
I assume that the storage wipe won't affect my SD card? That's where I have the ROM, etc. That's all I'm concerned about.
My options when I go into the "Wipe" menu are Advanced Wipe, which gives me the options to wipe Dalvik, Cache, System, Data, Internal, External, and USB-OTG.
The other option is "Format Data", and that says it'll wipe my apps, backups, pictures, videos, media, and removes encryption on internal storage.
I assume I need to do the "Format Data" one, but I'm just wondering if that will affect any of the important stuff in the phone, ie. recovery and whatnot.
Okay guys, thanks for the help. I just went into the "Advanced Wipe" menu, and wiped Internal Storage, as well as the standard dalvik, cache, etc. Seems to have done the job, my phone now has 10GB free with a new ROM, as opposed to 3GB free. I figured I'd post my results, just in case someone else wanders over here with the same question.
Thanks again.
