Developers should not have to roll back to get mango - Windows Phone 7 General

The recent "Mango friends and family update" may clean up any Beta update provisioning on your phone so it can begin receiving updates from production Microsoft servers. And according to http://www.neowin.net/news/wp7-mango-friends-and-family-update-rolls-out, that developers will not have to roll back.

I'm afraid this won't apply for those of us who have flashed the HTC 7720.68 RTM. Well, I did so many hard resets, so I personally don't really care. Especially since it was told from the very beginning that a rollback would have to be performed in order to recieve the official update.

Saw this mentioned on the winphonesupport twitter feed.
Here's the discussion.

[q] ota 1.72.405.2

Just appeared on my phone (DZ). Does anyone know some details about this upgrade? Will permanant root and nand unlock possibility remain after applying it? Is there a changelist somewhere?
Always best to wait, don't jump into your doom
OTA 1.72.405.2 update is coming indeed. So how we will take it? Desire Z
Just updated my DZ, now runs Android 2.2.1.. To early to say anything about stability, battery consumption and radio quality, but the EXCHANGE 2010 ISSUES SEEMS TO BE FIXED!
Lost my perm-root though (didn't have S-OFF)... :/
I have the clockwork recovery so I can't update.
Does anyone has the zip package?
from htc twitter:
European Desire HD / Desire Z users – look out for an update rolling out from today that will make your mobile experience even better.
Works perfectly fine here. Updating took about 6-7 minutes here (including reboot)
Promised fixes are improved performance and camera improvements. Phone runs smooth, but I didn't notice any very big increase yet. Camera seems to be a tad faster, but that could have been caused by the reboot as well.
Don't install any OTA if you are rooted/S-OFF !
You will lose root and might not be able to get it back if HTC have tried to close the loopholes exploited via the current root/S-OFF methods.
Far better to wait until the devs have had a chance to check things out and make sure the update is rootable/S-OFFable.
If you don't care about root etc then this warning doesn't apply ,but I suspect the number of members this applies to is a minority.

Just to add, the RUU for this version is already in the dev forum, and we already know there are some issues with rooting it.

Anyone have a lead on when the CDN update will surface?

Urmm, are you referring to the Exchange issue where initial sync would work but then "sync protocol error" would occur after a few syncs?
Would be so awesome if that is fixed, interesting that in the last few days HTC support are telling me that they are still handling it as an issue on their side, and actually requested that I open a user for them on my Exchange server...
Downloading now.
Well, no dice, tried syncing exchange and getting "sync protocol error". might try to remove and re-add the account, but I tend to think it'll be a waste of time.
Duppsko, can you let me know what your Exchange issue was before, and what did you see fixed after?
Correct, I had the protocol sync issue, couldn't sync either calendar or contacts after a few syncs... also, sending e-mail and opening attachments didn't use to work..
When the DHD got this exchange-fix OTA earlier in november, users said that you have to delete the activesync partnership completely, and then readd your account.. that's what I did, and my issues are all gone!

Last night, my phone was fine. THis morning, I woke up and had no sound playing back through the phone... Thought I'd do an online update to see if that would fix it. Said there was an update, so went ahead and updated...
Now, I still have no sound, but also getting problems with the wi-fi. I try loading it and it says (for a split second) "Loading" then comes up with error...
I also tried watching a video, and get "unable to play this video".
Dunno whether it's an app I downloaded last night, or whether there might've been something else that caused it...
Tried doing a backup to factory reset, but cannot backup any of the application settings because I don't have root...
Hopefully someone will be able to get root back for this update so I can backup, and factory reset
OK, now sound is back working. Dunno why or how... But I still can't get the wifi to work... Having read around on the net, have heard of people who have had problems when updating with ota updates on htc when rooted. So could this be the problem?! I hadn't even thought about the rooting at the time of update... D'oh...
Hopefully can resolve this asap
Its too tempting for me having that little download notification.
I have perm-root and s-off (but not radio... the fake version).
Would love to know what will happen...
Also is there a changelog?

1. What exchange fix did the dhd users get? Many of the recent complaints about this problem are still coming from dhd users...
2. When you say delete the partership you mean from the exchange server or do you mean removing the account from the device? The first option got the sync working for me for a couple of days and died again (last week, before the ota upgrade). But should I try deleting the partnership and/or readd the account on my phone now, after the ota upgrade?

I did the OTA update without realising i would lose root.. and now SetCPU doesn't work (it's the only app i use root for).
From what i gather, there is no easy solution, yet? VisionaryR12 says i already have root..
I have started a new thread in the dev forum about rooting progress on this new ROM. Please check that thread for update info (but don't just post in there "When will we get root ?", because it's a thread to talk about the dev stuff).

I'm referring to this thread where some people reported that the DHD OTA released early in november fixed all their exchange 2010 issues. Haven't been reding the whole thread, so I don't know if the problem persisted..

Sorry that I didn't specify this, I just removed the account from the device (thus deleting all existing contacts, e-mails etc.) and then readded the account. As you say, just deleting the partnership from the exchange server (in OWA) doesn't work, I've tried that before this OTA was released with no luck... I'm pretty sure that you HAVE to delete the account on your device to make this work, however, it doesn't hurt to delete both account on the device AND partnership in OWA...
Edit: My god, it is now possible to use "search server" from within the mail client (select folder, and press the search "hw-key", and then select search server)... Best christmas present ever!

[Mango] e-mails do no longer support certificates

In our company every employee has a certain trusted certificate which automatically signs every single e-mail. NoDo never had any issues with these kind of messages, everything was displayed just fine. With pre_mango now it seems no longer supported even though I reinstalled that cert on my device. Still all the e-mails say "Windows Phone does currently not support that type of messages". What the heck is wrong? oO Hopefully they'll provide a fix for that as I need that to be working.

Honestly, people who rely on their phones for business probably shouldn't be installing Mango, developer or not... It still isn't close to completion

I was thinking the same thing. I am surprised at how many people appear to be using the Mango beta for their day-to-day use. I'm pretty sure that isn't what Microsoft had in mind when they distributed it.
But the chinese input method is very very important for me. I cant imagine rolling back to NODO.
@FiyaFleye and @RoboDad
You're right, the both of you. But due to the lack of more than just one WP7 device, it's kinda hard to make a choice here. First of all, it's my private device which I mostly use for private things. I even develop for and on it, even though none of the apps I write will ever hit the marketplace. On top of that, I use it for daily business. Like company e-mails, tasks, calender and such. Most features introduced with Mango now make it way more comfortable to use than with NoDo. It's a hard decision that I will have to make whether I roll back so I can read our internal e-mails again (which I still can do by using IE and OWA) but won't then be able to use all those new features.

Mango update error code 80180048 seems be have been fixed my microsoft !!

A couple of weeks ago I complained about not being able to get mango of my Omnia 7 . I keep getting the 80180048 error code after several tries so I hit App hub forum for some answers. reading through the pages an official from MS said the the issue was a duly noted and it was server side issue so ti will get fixed sometime in Mid July. So I tried just this morning and true to his word it seems to have been fixed!! Now I have mango up and running..
Hopefully other people who had the same issue could try the mango update and see how it goes this time.
PS. I don't know with he other updates but after mine I didn't have to re-install or re-sync emails or anything.. it worked just as it was before the update.

Strange problems with my HD7 on Mango.

On T-Mobile USA.
Visual Voicemail won't work. It is enabled on my account.
Can't find the new version of "Attentive Phone" in the marketplace. I was hoping for the "settings" integration. I can view it in Zune, but there's no option to download it.
Visual Voicemail worked fine under the Mango beta. I have it enabled on my account. I rolled back to NoDo at one point, then to the Mango RTM.
Any ideas here?
Just wait for the official release.
I had to manually search for attentive phone in the market place. Hope that helps.
Sent from my T7575 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Found it by following a link. Says it isn't available for my device/in my region.
In America on a a T-Mobile HD7.
Just got the RTM. Still having these problems.
Give it a day guys, the Facebook integration was also a wait and check later affair with the Mango beta so maybe they are doing something on their end.

Facebook News sync lost after hard reset

Greetings
after I hard resetted my Lumia 650 I can no longer download the MS Facebook app with contact sync (People App --> News is the important one for me) . It worked before.
Maybe it updated to a new insider build which removed the functionality?
When I try to install an old MS Facebook APPX Package (Microsoft.MSFacebook_10.3.2.0.AppxBundle) it works but it only shows contact pictures. If I click on "News" or "Recent updates" it shows nothing
Any help ? Thanks!
Robin
The MS FB app just doesn't work anymore. Facebook removed access from all older & 3rd party apps. So, you're stuck with FB's latest version... I know "Boo", right?
If you sideload the MS version of Facebook (the Appx is in the forums, search for a thread with my username), you will get connect back. ONLY if your OS build is prior to Creators Update. I don't know if the 650 was eligible for the CU, hopefully its not, because the CU will remove even that possibility. MSFT killing off every good feature one by one.
I still have FB connect working on my Lumia 1520, but it went away on my HP Elitex3 after Creators. I did do a factory reset on my HP, restored it to my Lumua 1520 restore point...I had FB Connect for a few hours, but once Creators Update kicked it, it was gone. Perhaps, if you find a way to prevent windows mobile from updating, you could prevent CU from kicking in.
good luck. I was upset about this too!
