Hello guys
My question is this what kind of hardware or software problems got this phone
I got HTC HD2 US Ver and i suffer from the keypads problem when i press them the screen dont recognize my touch(the touch screen become normal screen like "dumb" phones)
is there problems like this in the Desire HD or should i get a "junk" iPhone 4
(i still rather have HTC then this rotten apple)

So the new Telus Desire has swapped out the AMOLED screen with an SLCD, but what about the touchscreen component? I would love to hear that the Clearpad2000 has been swapped out as well! I currently own a Nexus One and the poor multitouch is driving me nuts.
It's the same, I'm guessing you mean it only senses duo touch still

That sucks. Not only can it only track two touches only, but if you happen to cross the same axis while it's tracking two fingers it will start acting up. It means that multitouch keyboard are pretty much useless.
As the title suggests i have a HD2 and can get a new phone from Vodafone, wondering if the texting is better than the HD2 (its my biggest gripe with the HD2).
Also slightly concerned that the screen isn't as good now in the newer desire's is this really an issue ?
I love my HD2 but i had an android phone before and i really like android too, i have the android desire rom also on my HD2 so i have been playing about with android on it also, but my missus has got a HD mini and the screen seems more accurate to use than my HD2 even though its smaller...
Anyone used both, and how would you compare the phones, i have no issue's with the HD2 other than texting...
Do i get a desire or do i wait anything else coming out soon...
Cheers for any info...
I've got both (HD2 stock 1.66; Desire stock Froyo)
What is your texting problem?
The HD2 keyboard wasn't the best but I recently returned my phone because I had display problems and HTC installed hotfix 08787, which greatly improved typing accuracy. Having said that I've got swype on both so its not much of an issue anyway.
I mostly use the HD2. When I swap to the Desire I have a couple of days of 'wow this is great' but then I always go back to the HD2 because
1. The desire screen is tiny in comparison
2. I can tweak things on the HD2 that I can't on the Desire (not rooted yet). My HD2 is exactly how I want it; my Desire isn't. OK if I root perhaps I can get the same level of customisation...perhaps.
3. I use Winmo app 'Secubox' everyday and there's no Android equivalent
I haven't installed Android on my HD2 yet, but the point is that you can, giving you the best of both worlds?
I have installed the Hotfix and it has helped but it can be very laggy when texting...
I'm running the energy rom as he doesn't use the HTC messaging which improves the lag, but its still not as fluid as say an Iphone.
I have an early HD2 don't know if the screens are the same on all hd2's but as i've mentioned typing on my missus HD mini is so much more pleasant...
I don't like swype tried it and its not for me...
I had an HD2 and got so p*ssed off with winmo and the texting problem that I got a desire (free upgrade).
The HD2 is now on ebay a month after having the Desire.
Different class.

Had the HD2 for 7 months, only worked properly after I baked my own custom ROM.
Desire, out the box, is amazing! Forget about the HD2 screen, Desire is more than big enough and you can use it in one hand!! The colours are another level (not seen the SLCD Desire so can't comment on that) and Android is just a better phone.
I also had major issues with the HD2 keyboard basically ignoring what I was pressing and doing it's own thing. Don't get that on the Desire so that alone is worth swapping.
Never been happier! I've just today gone back to the stock 2.2 ROM as there was a slightly newer version out. Will most likely root again once the S-OFF hack has gone public
I had an HD2 for 5 months I loved the screen! That was basically it..but overall it was a great phone! (hated WinMo)
But i am so much happier now with the desire
You won't be dissapointed.
Wait for the upcoming Desire HD ... September 15, 2010.
HTC will announce it in London.
I have both the HD2 and Desire - HD2 screen cracked and got the Desire as the store had no HD2s in stock.
Both are good phones - I actually prefer the Sense implementation on the HD2, but that's most likely because I'm more used to it. The screen was obviously a nice bonus. While the Desire felt small at first and probably still does, it is entirely an artifact of coming from that huge screen. App choice is far better on the Desire though.
I'm on Vodafone as well. I'd say wait for the Desire HD - from what's been leaked it's a Desireified HD2/Evo, lso you'll get the best of both worlds. You don't gain that much going from HD2 to Desire, not enough to burn an upgrade on, especially not so close to a new release
Yeah sounds like good advice didn't realise till today that HTC are making some announcements on the 15th, will defo wait for now...
Hi all,
Does anyone know if there is software available to use on the phone to edit video that been shot on the phone ...? Something like imovie for the iphone but for the desire..
Thanks.
So from the lack of response I take it that’s a no then..!
Shame I thought the HTC Desire was a superior phone to the iPhone yet the iPhone has this app and the HTC doesn’t..?
Can the desire's hardware not handle an app like that or is it that just no one’s bothered to make or port one yet..?
Hello,
I currently own a HTC Touch HD and I hate it with a passion. It is slow, bugy, the screen goes from to sensitive to unresponsive is a millisecond so it is nealry impossible to scroll down the contacts without picking the wrong one or flying past the one you want etc. When I first got it I had a lot of problems with it connection to the 3G all by itself although that is mostly under control now. I have no real issues with the Windows operating system but it is clearly out of date these days.
My question is the Desire HD everything that my Touch HD wasn't? Is is quick, smooth, easy to use and so? Is the touch screen on a par with an IPOD Touch?
Please help as I dont know whether HTC are bad or just that I had a bad phone?
Has anyone bought phones from these guys as they seem cheap enough?

I changed from the Touch HD and can honestly say its a completely different experience - I continue to be blown away by my Desire HD.

This phone is great, but I'm starting to consider htc as a bad company. I don't like the way they keep blocking the root exploits. As much as I love the sense ui, I will probably start buying nexus phones from now on unless htc want to allow rooting.
If you do decide to buy, at least try and get a phone with 1.32 firmware so you can root it.

I am a beginer at all this technical stuff, what exactly is rooting and why would I want to do it?

Google it as "What is Android rooting". Briefly it provides you to have SuperUser access on the phone and install custom ROM, some spesific apps etc...
Firstly I recommend you to read much and gain information about Android platform then you operate on the phone. I have read forums approx. 1 month before I buy an Android phone.
I upgraded from the Touch HD to the Desire HD too and I will never look back!
My only concern is that a normal desire would have been enough due to the smaller size and better battery life. I've yet to reach 48 hours on one charge with minimal usage...and I don't make many calls!
Hello I had a Touch HD, and now Desire HD. I like my touch hd, but desire is much more better.
Only one thing i missed. I have logitech bluetooth handsfree and it doesnt work with desire. It works perfect with touch hd....

Hi all!
I'm a HD2 user!
I'm using Android on it since early july 2010 and now it runs android nearly perfectly as a native android phone and i like it!
However, last few weeks have been bad, the screen digitizer broke twice (on his own ) (discovered later that it's a hardware buttons issue not a screen ) and now my camera flash is dead! Besides there's the signal issue which kills me sometimes because i feel/think that a native android phone shouldn't loose signal while my old nokia is full of it!!! ( i hope my feelings are right )
So i'm thinking of going to a native android phone mainly Desire or Desire HD.
I like the desire HD however i'm short on budget and i don't wanna pay this much UNLESS it's really that "better" than the normal desire.
I've made a quick search on both of them and i got these problems with each one:
Desire:
-bad battery consumption
-pink screen tint almost everywhere
Desire HD:
-bad battery consumption
-grip of death problem (signal issue while holding phone)
-blurry camera pics on some phones
However, of course HD specs are far better on paper!
So what do you think guys!? What should i do?! Are there another Cons that i don't know about anyone of both?! Do anyone of you have both of them and can help me?!
If you reached here reading, then you deserve a big thanks

10x for that man, but can you please help me here!?
I've had a Desire since launch and never had a pink tint
Tint thingy is not a problem and all phones have bad battery lifes, it just might feel like battery drains faster, but that's because you will do all kind of awesomeness with Android phone. My Nokia 5800s battery dies also fast (maybe faster even) when I start doing same stuff than on my Desire.

I have AMOLED screen sir.
I should buy a desire
Desire hd
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
dont forget about two other issues the original desire has: no real multitouch (which IS a big disadvantage) and small internal memory (ok there are root solutions but in order to have a fast system you would need to buy a decent class 6 SD card)
desire HD ? well, small battery could be a problem, but i think with custom roms it you should be just fine.
if i was to buy new phone now, with the knowledge about the original desire i think i'd go for HD. (basically it all comes down if you can coupe with -not real- multitouch - in gaming for example)
Ok man thanks for this good review, but the question is "does the HD have real multitouch?!?" Or we will discover later on (as we did with desire and hd2) that it doesn't have real multitouch?!
