[Q] problem while rooting my htc wildfire - Wildfire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey, I have a problem with my HTC wildfire after i tried rooting it.
I used this tutorial ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1145035 ) while trying to root my phone.
After downgrading my phone from froyo 2.2.1 to eclair 2.1 with the RUU, my phone rebooted like it was supposed to do but now the touchscreen on my phone will not work at all. I have no idea of how to fix this and i was wondering if anybody could help me out? thanks in advance

If your read my thread you already have the answer.
I had exactly the same problem and i was in panic. This is what i did. Started the phone as usual. And because no touch i couldn´t get pass pincode for sim. At that point i connected the phone to my pc and tried a different RUU. Google it and you find it
""RUU_Buzz_HTC_WWE_1.37.405.1_Radio_13.53.55.24H_3. 35.19.25_release_151892_signed"
Probably it won´t work first try but have the phone connected to the computer while you restart your pc, open RUU file again and finally it will work. The phone rebooted with 2.1 eclair and touch working! =) Then rooting was a peace of cake after that! I have now cm7

thanks so much i was getting worried when i realised the touchscreen wouldnt work at all ..I tried searching for the answer but i didnt seem to find it so i decided to put up a thread :L

can you describe more on why you can't downgrade ?
here is the 100% successful method on how to downgrade to build 1.32 by jkoljo( so you can root )
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905003
When I tried to downgrade before it went through all the processes and on the last one it failed due to it being locked to orange so if this works big thank you

ahh so i've just had a look at this, and its exactly the same post i read and tried... so im sorry but it doesnt work!
plus i can't make a goldcard just dont understand the step by step, anyone else out there who can help?
also made a slight mistake with my software version... its as follows
Android Vers... 2.2.1
Build Number 1.84.61.2 CL333804 Release Keys
Software 1.84.61.2
What have you tried so far, and where did it fail.
failed on the last test, because its locked to orange and they have their own os or sumit along those lines, but it was the last last thing that went tits up on the downgrade!

after trying the downgrade again, ive down everything it asks, im now on the bootloader screen and its come up CID incorrect Update Fail! press power to reboot
thats the part im stuck on, so either i need to unlock my phone... or try and find the 1.32 software that orange released part from that i have no idea what to do
Did you create a goldcard? If you successfully made a goldcard it wouldn't fail on the CID.
no i can't mate, i have no idea how to create one... ive tried to follow step by step guides and whatnot but i just can't get my head around it, its probably so easy i could do it blind but yeh im not that techi to work it out... would it help if i pay someone to unlock my phone? i seriously have no clue... i can jailbreak an iPhone with no issues whatsoever but thats a iPhone lol
Without a goldcard you can't downgrade. Unlocking will just remove the SIM lock, it won't root or otherwise modify you handset.
If your quick & install TeamViewer I can attempt to make a goldcard for you from your computer.
will do mate that would be awesome, ok where would i download teamveiwer?
scrap that ive downloaded it
Once you've installed it PM me the ID and 4 digit password.
ivve got that up and running
PM me the correct password, it should be 4 numbers
thanks everyone, and especially thanks to AndyHarney for creating my "goldcard" after many weeks of frustraition ive finally rooted that mofo lol, all tho now after all that ive forgotten what i was actually doing in the 1st place lol... i'm sure i wanted to put on Gingerbread or a custom rom
if anyone fancys giving me a hand with that i'd be seriously greatful lol
I personally use MrGaraks MIUI 1.41. Its iPhone-esque in appearance but it is essentially a very heavily skinned CyanogenMod 7. It gets better every week too as MIUI updates weekly on a Friday.
Your spoilt for choice really when it comes to ROMs.
So are you now rooted, with clockwork mod recovery?

[Q] need some help with rooting please

allright..
I tried rooting my sister's Wildfire today and I've been trying for hours with no luck..
I followed Turkeys' Ultimate Guide to Root Wildfire EXACTLY as stated (I am not a total noob since I managed to do almost exactly the same procedure with my Desire WITHOUT ANY FAILURE..) but this little smartphone seems to outsmart me here.. >_<
first the specs:
hboot is 001 at the end
it's a A3333 Wildfire
already debranded
running stock Android 2.2.1
software version 2.22.405.1
I managed to install the modified usb drivers through hboot, all went exactly as planned, rebooted the PC, did everything by the books...
then I started unrevoked and it
boots into hboot
then reboots
then reboots again and says "waiting for root - safe to restart...)
after the phone is booted up it is lagging as hell
but does nothing if I wait
when I restart the phone unrevoked tells me "couldn't get root - happens sometimes - try again"
and I tried like 20 times but I can't get it to work..
can please anyone help me?
thank you guys so much for any help..
peace
EDIT (!!!)
ok, I get it.. I'm stupid for not reading through this.. I just got so frustrated with it not working..
anyways, I'm gonna try to S-Off this thing.. is there any way to install a ROM - IF I succeed with S-Off - from there?
EDIT 2 (!!!)
yeeeeeesssssss! FINALLY at least SOME progress..
S-Off now (which seemed far too easy but it is off..
so, now what? is there any way to get to root from this or a ROM?
thanks for any advise..

[Q] HTC Desire 2.3.3

HI
So been searching for info on this, and other forums for about 2 days but came up with nothing on my device so hopefully i did a good job.
First of im Swedish so sorry for my bad english.
So my device:
HTC Desire 2.3.3
Flashed with HTC RUU from there site.
Not roted
As far as i know its not branded
Norwegian carrier
My problem:
The problems only showed after the upgrade to 2.3.3 and is:
1. When i listen to music on speakers i can change the volume perfectly but when i connect my headphones or handsfree my volume is stuck at one level.
I already tried to change the volume from settings, from different music players and tried a hard reset using power on and volume down.
Nothing seems to fix it.
2. My phone goes into car mode often. Mostly when i plug in my charger but sometimes when its in my pocket. I already downloaded the app from market thats supposed to "fix" it but it didn't do much differens.
I tried hard reset but the problem is still there.
3. I tried to root my phone so i could reflash it with another rom but read on another forum that its not possible at the moment using 2.3.3. Tried gingerbreak and unrevoked 3 but with no success. So in my desperation and irritation over the problem i re-downloaded the HTC 2.3.3 update to try and reflash the phone but i got an error message stating that i needed the correct rom for my phone. Kind of strange imo because thats the one i downloaded and successfully used the first time.
So the solutions i already tried are:
Different headphones
apps to combat the car mode
Hard reset using power on and volume down.
Any ideas?
//Thomas G
Thomas,
Short answer is that you can't root if you applied the HTC RUU, at least not yet (plenty of forums threads on XDA discuss this). This means you are stuck with that ROM for now.
I don't see your bugs on the rooted version of the HTC gingerbread ROM, so can't reproduce them.
Yes i know it cant root it, just showing what solutions i tried so far =)
And now im all out of ideas =(

Hi again and thank you for replying
Im sorry i get them two mixed up. But i tried revolutionary on my windows computer but dont remember what happend, error codes, other messages etc, all i know is it didn't work because i still wasent rooted. Thats when i tried unrevoked after. Iv tried alot of stuff using my windows machin but its not hooked up right now and im mostly only using my macbook.
But my main concern is not rooting atm, but the volume and car mode. I work in IKEA Logistiks and we work night hours so were listening to music while we work. Its a pain not being abel to adjust the volume =/

Dude im so sorry. I surfed a bit more on there page and remembered that i had problems with invalid beta code and i tried the solution, copy past, but still no luck getting the program to run.
Thats what happend. But giving it another so il post what happend in a while!
Sorry again and thanks!
Problem solved =)
Got S-off with revolutionary after borrowing a friends computer so something wrong with my windows machine maybe.
But reflashed it with Cyanogen mod and its working like a charm =)
No more car mode and i can change the volume. Strange bug i must have received before with the update from HTC 2.3.3.
Thanks for the help, its friday so beer on me! =)

New Member (NOOB) Looking for help. HTC Desire

Hi folks, I have just joined as a friend of mines told me XDA was the place to look for help in sorting out my HTC Desire.
I will do some reading over the weekend and hopefully sort the problem out myself and not need to look like a complete tosser. There is obviously millions of members and endless amounts of topics to chose from.
A brief description of my problem : I installed the HTC Gingerbread 2.33 RUU a few months back and ran into issues with the storage, which I believe the update warned of. Anyway, that RUU updated the handset no problem, but me being me I decided I wanted to revert to a stock rom so downloaded an older version which failed to install on the phone.
I used Revolutionary method to gain S-Off and created a NAND back up without any problems then I tried to run the old RUU and hit a brick wall so to speak. I am now stuck on the TMobile UK loading screen and although I can boot into HBOOT menu I cant use recovery to gain access to the back up or anything else.
My PC is now wont find my Desire as a phone but just a Android Device.
As I say I will do some searching and hopefully find my way through the maze of information.
If I need anymore help I will give full details of ROM Version , HBOOT and exactly how I got my phone into such a sorry state.
Thanks in advance to anyone who may be able to help me.
Don't Worry.. got you problem..

[Q] HTC Desire rooting

Hi,
I am trying to root my HTC Desire (This is the first time I have tried to root a phone) with a view to putting CM7 on in the end.
I know there are 101 posts on here about rooting and I have read through alot of them but I still am not having any joy, here is the story so far ........
1) Loaded Hboot Drivers
2) Removed HTC Sync
3) Downloaded unRevoked3
4) Data reset the phone (Both hard and soft)
5) plugged in the phone
6) made sure usb debugging was on
7) made sure non market place apps was on
unRevoked throws a firmware to new error
The phone is running:
Hboot 0.093.00001
Android 2.2.2
My question is have i missed something really simple or is my firmware just to new and ill have to wait for a new version of unrevoked ?
The guides I have read seem to suggest that 0.093 would work.
Thanks for your help
2.2.2 ota update is not working with unrevoked (a few posts been made) try revolutionary.io and dont forget to flash superuser zip
What's your OS?
Version of unrevoked3?
I'm running Vista on the PC, Android 2.2.2 and unrevoked 3.3.2

I cannot confirm what has been said about 2.2.2 not working with unrevoked, but even if that is not true, you should not be using unrevoked 3.32. That was designed to get around a plugged exploit in an arabian rom.
Everyone except people on the arabian rom should user 3.21
That said, I dont know what the softeware version for 2.2.2 is so I cannot confirm what has already been said.
Any Brandings? 0² might have some problems. And wich Recovery are you using?

That's exactly what I wanted to say. Use the latest 3.2x and it should work. If not try it on a PC that runs XP.
Thanks for the replies. I have a couple of questions about them.
rootSU/[email protected]
3.2.2 was the latest release I downloaded from the main link on the site. Should I try one version back. If so any ideas where I can pick it up ?
Kayon
I haven't used a recovery I have just Factory reset the phone and tried to root it with unrevoked.

Yes use 3.21.
Look at the download link for 3.32 and change the 3.32 to 3.21 in the link
Give both versions a try. 3.2.1 comes with a revised timing of root process for more reliability. If this doesn't work try the 3.2.2 which has the rageagainstthecage exploit reimplemented. I'd say at least one should work. If not try both versions under XP.

Thanks for your help everyone.
I have tried both versions and no joy on either (I haven't tried on an xp box yet).
I think I will try and pick up an old wildfire from ebay to play with. That way I wont brick my only phone if I try other ways of rooting lol

Maybe this is the driver issue.Try to reinstall the Hboot Driver.
