Hey,
I have a iPhone 3G and a HTC Desire, but icant decide which one i should use iphone have better apps but android have live wallpaper
CAN YOU GUUS HELP ME???!!

Desire
Hy,
I chose HTC Desire because the android is more customizable, it has a better hardware and you can find almost all the apps what iphone have.
But this is my opinion, you chose what you want

Thank-you for reply

You asking in a HTC Desire forum if you should pick it... that's like asking in a mac forum if you should pick mac or windows.
Seriously, you should do some "objective" search and then decide.

I was actually going to say the same thing. Well Said.

Desire and 3G have same hardware more or less. Downside to Desire is internal storage. If your wanting to get a HTC Android phone, maybe the Desire S or Sensation. But do some research.
Punched in..

I prefer the desire, but I loath anything made by crapple.. Too restrictive.

Well i say you used both at same time since you have both of them.

This is not a good place to ask this question. Lots here are bias against Apple products. So they will say Desire just because they never gave the other a chance just because it has the Apple name.
I love both. It depends on what you are looking for. If you like entertainment, then you must choose iPhone. Android gaming is not even close to what is on iPhone. Want to do photo editing and blogging? My Inspire 4g is nowhere near as useful as my iPhone. But my inspire does have comparable general apps and a large screen. More customization. I still keep iPhone around because seriously ... Specialized apps like photo editing or even gaming on Android can't be compared to iPhone. IPhone shuts it down in that category every time.

That's because it is insanely stupid. What a retarded idea, wanting to port an out of date, inferior, dead OS to the Desire.
If you want similar functionality to WM6.5 I suggest you place your desire into a bowl of warm Cola
Its such a shame though that phone 7 devices will end up having android ported to them like the hd2 whereas we never will get phone 7 running on our androids! Still rather stick with android though!
Eph.
This has been asked a few times before, I suggest you search for the other threads.
Closing this thread as it will end up like the rest, with the OP being flamed to oblivion.

[Q] which phone to choose

Hi,
I posted a poll here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=822642
to have some advices from you
Could you help me to choose between the HTC Desire and HTC Wildfire?
I really don't know which noe to take.
Thanks ;-)
Are You serious man? I don't know any advantage of the wildfire over the Desire... the wildfires specs are all worse than the Desires ones
Even The htc hero is way more powerfull than the wildfire! Also it looks ****ty with the awful qvga resolution

Id rather have my old G1 that a Wildfire. Its a midget Nexus/Desire hybrid with a crap res and even worse specs.
But if you lile throwing your money at people in exchange for rubbish phones then go for it

[Q] Any way to get WP7 ROM on Desire?

Hello, it's possible that in near future I'll need some WP7 device for app testing/debugging. Desire and Mozart are quite similar in HW specs (like HD7 and HD2 where WP7 port exists). So my question is, can be WP7 ROM ported on Desire? even if phone features won't work... thanks
No. Few reasons. There is just no interest in WM being on the Desire. And even if someone did it they would have a battle on their hands with Microsoft. Also, the bootloader will be way way different and so on. So in a nutshell.... it is possible, but no one is stupid enough or not going to waste their time.
thanks for answer, then it seems I'll have to change Desire for some WP7 device
Are u jokin ?? Interchange ur Andro for WP ??

Did you read my first post? I've mentioned the reason there - application developement for WP7. And of course WP7 has good emulator (definitely better than Android, which is painfully slow), but sometimes it's just better or in some cases even needed to test on real device.

Boot Manager and WP7
maybe the Boot Manager could be the option. Only question is, how to create a bootable WP7 image...
it will be good
hd2 have already android roms but devs still working on wp7 roms i ll be the first user if someone going to relesa it..

I dont understand how you can effectively debug a wp7 application on "alien" hardware.
But anyway, its not been done before, you would be the first (as far as I know). You would need to make wp7 work on the desire yourself. You need to be a rom developer and an extremely experienced one at that.
rootSU: yes, I agree. It might sound weird, but I wanted to reuse my Desire (And I like the idea of dualboot, before Desire I had HTC Touch Pro with WinMo&Android). And I suppose that the biggest problem of WP7 would be bootloader...

[Q] which phone to follow the desire?

hi all,
just wondering ....
which phone will you be picking up to replace your desire?
the desire has been the ?best? supported android phone during the days of eclair and froyo, then gingerbread (not enough resources to run the phone??? -wrong) and now ICS (i've been running sandvolds ICS beta for a month and it rocks, so smooth but now definately limited by hardware (NFC, no HWA support etc)).
However, times change and no piece of technology can last forever.
Which android phone will take over from the desire in being the next best option? WHich one has the most dev support, which one has the best hardware.
I know thousands of people will be nearing the end of their contract for their Desire. What will you pick up and why?
Well according to this other thread here, there is still no decent replacement for Desire so there.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1443810
damn,
you got me.
the desire is the only phone i will use for the rest of my life.
...could be worse i guess

It looks Sony is trying to turn things around with their smartphone lineup this year. But I'm not yet convinced but being a Sony Ericsson fan before I hope they would play it good this time.
I am also thinking my next phone will be the Sony Experia S I have been reading good things about it. Sony also seems to allow the bootloaders to be unlocked with out issue nowadays so hopefully there will be some nice custom ROMs. Just can't decide on the color white or black...

Thread similar to this already started search.................before you post.

Moving to Q&A
As in terms of rom development.
You could take the Desire HD, with the upcoming announcement of ICS coming to that one and the Desire S.
(I would take the Desire HD, when my Desire is up for replacement)
Also by taking several looks at the rom development section of the DHD.
I think it wouldn't be a bad choice to go with.
As in a completely new phone, with hopefully a good rom development, i would wait for the SGS III

Welcome to the Android world. In order for members to suggest what to get is you have to give more info on what phone you want or using at the moment.
There are thousands of apps in the android market and lots of ROMs to choose from.
i liked using Engadget, Pulse, IMDB, XDA, Taptu, and a bunch of other stuff most people wouldn't be interested in. i don't have my phone right now so i can't see my Play download history. nobody can tell you what ROM to use. you just have to read and pick one. i mostly just like to look at the pictures. ;p
I have just preordered the htc one x for AT&T and I was wondering what are the best and maybe some of your favorite apps.

Cool. I like MyBackup Pro and Root Explorer from the market. They are not free but I think they are worth it.
For ROMs I think you have to venture to the One XL forum to find out what they are cooking there.
Ok thanks, do you know of any apps that are specific to android that are not on ios? And I'll check out that other thread too.

Angry birds in space
And I definitely definitely definitely recommend swiftkey, the best keyboard out there (some prefer swype). In fact if you're not happy with the HTC keyboard just have a look around, you can even get the stock android keyboards.
Tegra zone shows you the latest games designed specifically for Tegra phones.
Chrome browser (however it lacks the text reformatting that htc provides on the stock browser)
Enjoy

The most important one I believe is if you ever root your device make sure you read the instructions and it should work out fine. ANd always backup your stuff.
Hmmm.. about android it's pretty basic though. Maybe watch some youtube clips to see how it goes.

Are there any real advantages to rooting an android device? It's kinda like jail breaking an iPhone right, is it mainly for themes, or is there more to it? I hate sounding like an idiot.

Think of it as jailbreak x2. Firstly you need it for Roms. (themes can be changed without rooting actually).
It also let's you modify your phones behaviour and performance to suit (for example, overclocking)
Hope that helps, I know other members can explain it better than me though
