Can´t understand whats wrong.. i have a wildfire with 2.2.1 hboot 1.01.0001.
I downloaded the program for windows and succesfully typed betakey, after that nothing happens.. it´s just waiting. On my other computer i even can´t do the beta step, it just says "waiting for device"
Does my previosly adb drives with my rooting of htc legend effect the connection with my wildfire?
Tried win 32 and 64bit, restarted the phone and computers without luck. Also tried run as admin
You sound like you need the drivers for the wildfire. If you connect via USB can you then use adb to see the device. Use the command adb devices. If nothing comes up then you don't have the drivers.

Maybe you should read this first http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1145035
Edit: after reading the correct guide i succesfully got s-off, but then when i downgraded to 2.1, my touch doesn´t work anymore :S what the f* do i do now? Adb doesn´t work but i have connection to my pc thrue bootloader. the usb unit android 1.0 pop up
Edit: Finally, now i have a rooted wildfire with cm7 =) The touch problem was solved by installing another RUU "RUU_Buzz_HTC_WWE_1.37.405.1_Radio_13.53.55.24H_3.35.19.25_release_151892_signed" After that i could easily root with unrevoked =)

I tried to root my Desire GSM (running Android 2.2, stock obviously...) with unrevoked, but every time i try, it gives the following error message (After the phone reboots):
"Communications with phone unexpectedly interrupted. Try again."
I'm running Winodws7 (driver signature mode...) + hboot drivers and i deinstalled everything from HTC Sync
I also tried it on ubuntu, but it wouldn't even connect to my phone.
Can someone please help me?
PS: I attached a photo from my hboot, if it helps.
When your desire is in hboot as on the picture, what device do you have in windows devicemanager under "android"?
There should be something like "android bootloader interface", with that it worked for me today
You are using unrevoked 3.32? Your usb cable is ok? Are you using any usb hubs, try to avoid them for this kind of work
People reported problems with newer versions of unrevoked.
I rooted mine with 3.21 - no hassle and error-free rooting.
Also check the Hboot driver status valo_lindstroem suggested, if not correct, install them using this method.
thanks for the quick help..
now it works. ;-)
I just check the box for "USB-debugging"
hi,first post on this section . upgraded from the desire bravo, could do with some advice..
purchased a used dhd in good condition, changed housings etc,its running the latest htc 3.12.405.1 sense 3.0 android 2.3.5 .after a good search i realised i would have to downgrade to s-off etc.
my problem is i can't get into fast boot power down volume, pulled battery tried lots of times.
pc will not recognise dhd, installed drivers etc, should be able to sort that one out myself.
but i cant work out why i cant get into fastboot, the phone just restarts
thanks mark
Hi,
Download HTC Sync and install that, that contains all the required USB drivers needed.
As for getting into fastboot, have you disabled HTC "Fastboot"? Its in a setting somewhere. Possibly under Settings>Applications or Settings>Development. Make sure that is unticked.
If you take your battery out & reinsert, hold vol down then press power. That should do it for you. If not, enable USB Debugging and use adb to get into the bootloader with,
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
You will need the SDK or a thinned down adb package. Which you can grab from HERE.
You will need the USB drivers for that to work.
EDIT: Just re-read your post. If you have HTC Sync installed and you still cannot get it detected then there maybe an issue with either the handset or your computer. Check "Device Manager" when its plugged in to see if there is a conflict.
htc sinc was allready on pc from desire bravo, well just the drivers.have tried the htc fastboot uncheck earlier no good,re installed htc sinc as i thought it may be different for dhd,but its not.
pc will not pick up device, says drivers not installed.i know they are as the bravo worked fine.
i had read somewhere that unrooted dhd can be usb bricked, there is a fix by some french chap on here, but i cant do that because cant get into fastboot.
need to get into fastboot first i think,to see whats what, device could allready be s-off dont know.
strange
edit: volume button was not working correctly lol, s-on,now to sort out the drivers, downgrade and flash a nice rom
Hello.
I´ve recently got a desire and I tried to root it using the unrevoked method, but with no luck.
I´ve managed to install the USB drivers, but the phone still seems to be not recognized. (Left with "Waiting for a device")
Yes I´ve turned on USB Debugging.
But everytime I connect my device, I see some strange "ADB" unrecognized device with an exclamation mark.
Tried to update "its" drivers with the drivers from unrevoked, no luck.
edit:I also tried to s-off with revolutionary, same problem ("Waiting for a device")
Any suggestions ?
Or other method how to root Desire on W8?
I´m using Windows 8 64bit.
HTC Desire is 2.2.2.
Thanks
EDIT: SOLVED thanks to k3lcior and his url. Thank you.
Try to download and install HTC Sync to get USB drivers from HTC. Then uninstall HTC Sync while leaving the USB drivers that came along with it installed. But no guarantee this will even work on Win8
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1961823
You may want to take a look on this, especially "Edit2".
Thanks for all suggestions, I was able to get fastboot working, somehow. But that´s pretty much everything.
Btw. There´s a strange problem with HTC Sync as well. I tried to install HTC Sync, just for testing.
HTC Sync doesnt seem to be detecting my phone as well.
Do you think these 2 problems might be connected?
OK everybody I think I already know what is going to come from this but I'm putting it out there anyway to see if anybody else in this world has experienced anything like this and managed to resolve it. I'm assuming it's the boot-loader that is at fault here but maybe, hopefully I am wrong.
So a friend of mine has rooted and installed Cyanogenmod 7.1 stable on his HTC Desire (bravo - gsm) using the revolutionary method. It has been working fine except he had many issues getting any ADB drivers to install and work. I've resolved this issue using Koush's drivers. Good old Koush. File transfers work fine too so the USB itself is obviously fine.
The problem I am facing is that he couldn't and now I cannot for the life of me get HBOOT/Fastboot drivers to install. I've tried using Windows and Linux for this task. I'm assuming that all was well before considering the fact he rooted his device!
Now, please don't shout at me but maybe there is a fancy HTC mode like the Samsung download mode that can be used? It's been a while since using HTC and couldn't recall if there was or even if it would be on these early devices.
So....
In Linux I've done all of the 51android.rules stuff and it works with my Galaxy Nexus and Nexus One. I can also see the device in 'sudo lsusb'.
In Windows.... well.... it's Windows, what more can I say!
The device shows up in device manager as Unknown USB Device (Device failed Enumeration). Now I know that basically means that my device is technically buggered, over current, generally failed to connect etc. I've tried different cables, ports and computers!
So here is the boot-loader information:
Revolutionary (In the pink bar at the top)
S-OFF
HBOOT-6.93.1002
RADIO-5.11.05.27
Whether in Fastboot or HBOOT, when I plug the device in it flashes between Fastboot and Fastboot USB/HBOOT and HBOOT USB PLUG
after a few seconds it goes back to the USB unplugged state on the phone and Windows pops up USB devices not recognized and I get the device show up in device manager as mentioned above.
If I try to install any HTC or custom/universal Fastboot drivers thy all fail as does HTC sync.
I've tried suggestions in this post too - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2124360
I think that is everything I can provide. Let me know if you need anything else! Like I say, I think it's the boot-loader itself but would loved to be proved wrong!
Thanks in advanced everyone!

Does connecting your phone as a storage device work?
Yes both storage mode and ADB work fine. ADB was a pain to get working though. Only the universal drivers from Koush worked on windows.

Hi
My Win7 disk crashed some time back and I'm trying to get it back to the way it was which, I believe, had hboot and fastboot drivers for my (now rooted) HTC Desire on it. I can't remember everything about how I did it before but now, when I put the phone into HBOOT then connect it to the PC, it installs as "HTC Serial Interface" and I don't seem to get it to become an "Android Bootloader Interface".
Can anyone suggest anything to help?
As I mentioned, I _think_ I had the hboot drivers installed before, but it's always possible I didn't so if I don't need them any more anyway as the phone's already rooted, please let me know.
What I remember from before was using fastboot to install a custom recovery so perhaps that's the case.
Thanks
John

Those are the instructions I was following but those drivers wouldn't install by the "right click on the .inf file and select 'Install'" method so had to be done by attaching the phone. When I attached the phone Windows went off and installed the "HTC Serial Interface" drivers!
However - I had a bright idea; uninstalled the "HTC Serial Interface" driver from device manager, switched off my wireless (because the "skip checking windows update" option when drivers installing doesn't seem to work very well!) and connected the phone again. This time it said it couldn't install the drivers so I went to device manager and followed the instructions again and now have an Android Bootloader Interface.
Overall what I'm trying to do is just play with different ROMs. I'd s-offed etc and loaded teppick74's (or something like that) Gingerbread ROM some time back to give the phone to my daughter but she had some problems with it and now uses an iPhone so I've got it back. I had to use the AmonRA recovery (I think) for that ROM because it used the older format that EXT4 Touch Recovery didn't support so I'm just trying to get back to the state where I can use that and play about more.
Thanks for taking the time to answer
