Hi guys,
I know that there are many threads about this topic, but no one of them helped me to find a solution for my problem. I hope somebody of you can give me the right advise how i can fix my phone.
These are the steps I did:
- Unrevoked Root
- AlphaRev S-OFF
- Installed Bravo CM7 r2 (by doing wipes in recovery-mode and install PB99IMG_cm7r2.zip)
Now I wanted to install one of these ROMs:
[ROM] Aurora v02
[ROM]Cool3D Sense 3.0
I proceeded like it is described everywhere. I choosed "Wipe data/factory reset" and "Wipe Davik" and then clicked on "Flash zip from sdcard" and choosed the zip.
However, my phone will stuck in a "quietly brilliant" loop. I proceeded a few times without success.
What did i do wrong?
You need 1gb ext4 partition on SD Card.
Repartition your SD, wipe everything and reflash again.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
What Hboot you have?
Usually roms have two versions - stock and alternative hboot version
If you have stock hboot table use stock rom
Yes all you need is to download the right version of the rom cool3d CM7 r2, partition your sd with first FAT32 and the second EXT4 partition. 1gb EXT4 is enough. then wipe everything and flash your rom. then boot the rom set it up, restart it and flash app2sd (stockusers.zip from coolexe), don't flash a2sd right after the rom!!

Do what he says and it will work...
If you want even more space, then flash Bravo CM r2 hboot from alpharev...
Remember to update your radio also...
There is some small bugs in the ROM, but they are easy to fix
Sorry, just to add if you are on cm r2, you may flash the rom, run it, set it up, and then reboot and flash a2sd.kd.zip it will move dalvik cache to sd-ext, as i understand his roms for cm r2 contain a2sd from the start. so you get all aps on sd-ext and also dalvik on sd-ext.

Before I used CM7 stable rom.
As I want to use data2ext, thus i flashed to RCMixHD v3.6.1 D2EXT Rom. But i got a problem after reboot the system. I have had wipe all cache, why still got an error ?? many apps are forced to close.......what happens??
Be more specific.
What kind of error? Boot error?
Application error?
It helps to know "exactly" what happened.
after flashed Rom, I rebooted system.
It can be entered the first screen of HTC sense. But when i unlock the screen, it is looped to load setting.
I also cannot used the home button and cannot go to any apps. It will be forced to close.
WIPE everything... not just cache, but system/cache/sdext/dalvik cahce (factory reset).
Then flash the ROM.
And make sure your SD Card is partitioned as recommended in the RCMixHD thread.
yes....I already wipe everything...
my SD card have also partitioned into FAT32+EXT3+EXT3+SWAP
but it also cannot be normal for my flashing
Recommended partitions are ext4, but i don't think that will be the problem. What Recovery do you have?
the system will auto change ext3 to ext4 for running the script.
Recovery???.....what do you mean that?
BTW, flash the ROM and after flash this fix:
http://rom.tat.tw/desire/Fix/bootHD.zip
Recovery: CWM x.x.x.x or AmonRA x.x.x ?
you mean the ClockworkMod 2.5.0.7 ???
Try downloading again: http://rom.tat.tw/desire/RCMixHD/v3.6/
Check if the size is correct. It MUST work with CWM 2.5.0.7 and your SD Card setup.
If not. Try this : http://www.multiupload.com/C8Y4YPOFC0
i tried..it also cannot be worked........
does anyone know whether there is/will be a A2SD version of 3.6.1?
The latest A2SD is only 3.0 =/.
Hi
Playing around with my rooted htc deisire i tried to flash the new RcMic HBOOT
After doing god knows what
i cant start my phone and keep having this message
Error in CACHE: recovery/log (No space left on device)
please help
Give us more information what you did before.
Did you full wipe/factory reset & wipe cache? What partitions do you have on SD Card, are you S-OFF?
yes
i am s-off
i did wipe cache/wipe factory reset
i tried to restore to my lee droid 2.4 but my phone keeps looping from the start
What partitions do you have on SD Card, which HBOOT you are using, which version of the ROM you flashed?
i flashed this rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=988570
i have no partition
hboot 6-93.1002
Did you read first post?
It clearly says you need 1GB+ EXT2/3/4 partition on SD card. Thats why you getting errors and end up with bootloop.
Also if you have Stock HBOOT be sure to flash A2SD+ version, and CM7 version if you flashed CM7 HBOOT partition table.
Before flashing again be sure to perform Full Wipe/Factory reset and Cache wipe!

I cannot find rcmixs hboot. Only recommend one for this rom, which is cm7. You flashed this one? If, you cannot restore leedroid rom, because the /system partition of cm7 hboot is to small. If not, wright partition sizes of your hboot here.
Swyped from my HTC Desire using XDA App
sorry guys cant really follow
what you are suggesting?
right now i cant flash anything
Reformat your SD Card, make FAT32 partition + 1GB EXT4 partition. (backup data if you have important files on SD)
Full wipe/Factory reset + Cache wipe.
Download RCMixS_v2.0_A2SD+_BravoHboot.zip if you have Stock HBOOT or RCMixS_v2.0_A2SD_CM7Hboot.zip if you flashed CM7 HBOOT earlier and put it on SD Card.
Flash it, and wait... it takes a bit longer on first boot!
Enjoy.
if i dont want to flash rcmix and want to go back to my old lee droid rom, i have to do all these things you describe?
Yes you need, but just flash LeeDroid ROM instead of RcMix.
You need to do the rest tho because LeeDroid require 512MB+ EXT2/3/4 partition too for A2SD.
Btw. you need to repartition your SD card only once, then you just wipe and flash other ROM if you want, but EXT partition is mandatory!
repartitioning using which method?
g parted or through windows?
sorry for all the questions

GParted. With windows you cannot create an ext partition, because ext is a linux file system. But i would always use gparted or recovery of phone to partition sd card and never windows.
If U dont wanna use Gparted, then
use "MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition" in windows. (freeware-use google)
Can make all partitions, with no problems!
thanks very much guys
just finished
everything as before
followed your direction and i am back to business
Will this work for partitioning htc desire in windows. Tried Gparted but for some reason it wasn't working for me on boot.
Hi,
I've search on this forum but i didn't find the same problem i have.
My device is a HTC Desire S-Off CM7r2
My SdCard is formatting like this : 1024Mo Ext4 /// 2976 Mo Fat32
I wanted to try the AceS v3 (ginger 2.3.5 + sense 3.0) so i cleaned my SD card, then i made a full wipe in the recovery (AmonRA) and then i flashed the Rom.
When i rebooted my device, i was on the parameter screen (the first screen after flashing a rom) and i had a pop-up who said 'the process com.android.phone has stop...' i push on 'Ok' and the message came back 2 or 3 seconds later, without stoping. I rebooted my device once, nothing changed.
I rebooted into recovery and did the same, full wipe then reflash. Still the same problem.
So i ran my nanbackup and came back on my CyanogenMod7 and i didn't have this problem.
If someone have a solution or an idea about this problem i could be really helpfull to try AceS's rom
Wipe davlik,data,cache.. wipe all! And try to flash the Rom again.
How did you partition your SD card? With gparted or recovery? Did you flash the right version of AceSMod (so the one, which corresponds with your hboot)?
Did u make full wipe? if yes then retry, flash the rom and then just flash the EXT4 alignement script.
good luck, i am using this rom its realy fast and stable.
@droidmeup i've wiped everything
@MatDrOiD I've partitioned my SDcard with GParted and i've flashed the CM7 r2 version of the ROM
@Psykodali When i flash EXT4 alignement script it gives me a boot loop when i restart
Did you created first fat32 partition and then ext4 partition and were both primary?
SwiftKeyed from dGB using Transparent XDA App
Yes, it's what i've done

Did you flash this before or after flashing the ROM? This is supposed to be flashed before the rom is flashed.
Hello,
I wanted to try CM7 nightly.
I had rooted stock rom 2.29.405.5 with a2sd+ from this thread.
Before flashing cm7 nightly 225 I wiped data/factory reset and wiped cache partition.
Flashed rom and booted normaly.
After that I wanted to restore my nandroid backup..
I wiped cache and data/factory reset.
Then I got an error while restoring /sd-ext!
Tried again by doing the same and wiping dalvik cache.
When the process reached the point when it restores the sd-ext the progress bar got stuck.
(s-off and clockworkmod recovery (CM v.5)
After that I removed the battery and powered the device.
All my apps are not there. Not even the superuser app.
Please what can I do?
I'm having the same issue with my nexus one. any ideas?
What happens if you use advanced restore and restore the,sd ext on its own?
You may need to reformat your ext
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
The recovery would freeze
After a lot of retries I gave up trying to restore it.
I came to the conclusion the sd got corrupted. (Transcend 8GB class 6)
After that a lot of "bad" things happened, such as couldn't mount sd card, had to reflash partition table and a randomly occured USB brick...hopefully with the help of a friend we(mostly he) managed to fix it..I am at a stock rooted rom with s-off now and want to buy a new sd card..
Is there any way to verify that my old microSD has really been corrupted?
I have continued (kind of) the thread here!
With more info and questions.
Thank you for your reply!
I have exact the same problem, but the disadvantage that I can not install any Rom as it freezes when installing. So I'm not able to start the phone as it sticks on "quietly brilliant" screen.
What I have:
- Amoled grooted
- S-OFF mit Alpharev CM7 r2
- HBoot 0.93.1000
- Recovery: CWM 5.0.2.6
- Last Rom: Runny Mede v3
What I tried:
- Restore Nandroid: Freezes on restoring SDEXT (after factory and dalvik wipe)
- Install ROM: Freezes at writing SDEXT or says that it finished but the bar sticks
- Format SD Card, deleted EXT4 partition and remade it with Gparted. Checked it with windows chkdsk and Gparted and it gave me no errors
- Rewrote the partition table to CM7 r2 with a PB99img.zip
- Made a EXT4 partition with CWM
- Changed the SD card with another one (always making a EXT4 partition and formatted in FAT32)
I don't know what else I should do. Please help restoring my Desire!
Could it be a issue of the CWM? As I can not go back to another one, because Fastboot flash doesn't work, I can not test it by myself!
What do you mean fastboot flash doesn't work? Tell me everything
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
In Fastboot menu I can choose only from Bootloader, Reboot, Reboot Bootloader and Power Down. I don't have anything else to choose from.

Thats not how fastboot works. Read the adb and fastboot faq in my signature (ignore all adb things, and start at "what is fastboot?")
oh ok, seen it. So I'm gonna try Android Flasher to flash recovery.
To sort out recorvery as source of the issues, which one should I flash? Which one is the most stable?
Personally I am a cwm 2.5.0.7 man.
Got it running again!
Flashed the CWM 5.0.2.0 and everything worked fine again.
It seems that the Clockwork mod 5.0.2.6.111007 of zyonee has a problem with SD-EXT (so it was on mine, don't know if it works on other devices too).
Hi,
i have flashed many ROMS until now on my HTC Desire.
But now I have a problem.
I wanted to go back to an fast and stable ROM, so I selected:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426339
this one.
I formatted my SD card, with an fat32 partition and 1GB ext4 partition.
cleared all the cache (dalvik too)
Installed the ROM.
The installation complets, and says, you must reboot your phone, the first time it will spend 10-15 minutes.
I am waiting now about 30 minutes the second time I installed it
But its always rebooting to the HTC Flash Screen.
I am on HBOOT 80.000
an S-ON
with the newest radio on it.
i'll take the stock Rom, not the data rom.
Whats wrong?
Can you help me?
Thanks in advance. (I wanted to post in the thread of the ROM, but i havent the privilege to do that)
cheers
you need to full wipe, not just wipe caches
you are still s-on, so assume you are on clockworkmod recovery. use the wipe data/factory reset option at a minimum. then go to advanced and wipe cache and dalvik anyway, no harm.
this completely formats the whole device, you currently have bits of different ROMs installed which is why it doesn't boot.
if you want, it is better to s-off, then you can switch hboot and use data++ version of that rom for more app space.
for s-off, search for guides, I think you'll have to upgrade to stock RUU rom as your current hboot version is not supported.

sorry, I forgot, i already have wiped data/factory,
I wiped all possibilitys
Thanks for your quick response!
before i do the s-off, i want to check the rom in s-on mode.
Did you partition your sdcard using clockworkmod recovery or minitool partition wizard? If so, these are not recommended methods as they create bad partitions for desire.
Use gparted to completely format the sdcard and recreate the partitions, search for good guide in general section.
If you were s-off you could flash 4ext recovery which makes good partitions easily.

i've did it with gparted on an linux laptop,
Its an 8GB SDCard, at first i have the ca. 7GB FAT32 partition, and behind the ca. 1GB ext4 partition.
I deleted the hole card before i formatted it.

as long as the partitions are done correctly (both primary partitions), then i'm not sure why it's not installing.
try downloading the rom.zip again, check the md5 sum before flashing, details given in the first post of the thread.
full wipe and try again.
eventually i still recommend you s-off, but yeh try and get this to install first.

i've did it again, but nothing works!
same problem again...
i have downloaded the rom again, checked MD5.
deleted the hole SD Card and formatted it again with fat32 an ext4 (both primary partitions)
deleted all the cache, data, factory reset
installed the ROM, it installed "successfully"
But when I reboot, the desire is rebooting all the time to the HTC logo.
Whats wrong?
Is the ROM incompatible with my phone?

to be honest i'm running out of ideas! you appear to have done all the steps correctly as far as I can see...
in the OP, it says "If you get problems with a flash, try to mount sd-ext in recovery before flash" but not sure if this will make a difference, might as well try, should be an option within clockworkmod.
you say you have flashed many ROMs, which ones? out of interest, when you switch off your phone and volume down + power, what does it say at the top of your bootloader screen?

Oh i cant remember them all. My last one was an "stable" ice cream ROM, but this is too slow for me.
Now i just want a phone, which doesnt lag if i just want to call a number or write a sms.
I dont need the features in the newer ROMs!
Just want my desire working fast and stable!
The bootloader screen displayed:
BRAVO PVT1 SHIP S-ON

and in the RECOVERY:
psfMod 0.9.7.2
i will try to mount sd-ext in the Recovery now...
so long..Thank you so much for your help :fingers-crossed:

nope, no difference with mountin sd-ext

i've run out of ideas to be honest, still looks like everything is set up correctly before flashing...and yet some other roms work fine.
last resort, assuming you have a nandroid backup and titanium backup of apps etc:
- flash 2.3.3 RUU to get it back to full stock
- s-off with revolutionary
- flash 4ext recovery, i recommend using fastboot
- (optional) change hboot to oxygenR2, again using fastboot
- full wipe again, and flash data++ version of rom.
at worst, if this rom still doesnt install, you'll still be s-off, so more flexbile flashing other roms.
