FYI - Pandora working in browser for Mango now - Windows Phone 7 General

Noticed the HTML5 redo of Pandora was live and tested it on my HD2 mango with descent results.
They also lifted the 40 hours cap on free account
oh and sorry US only

Yeah... you forgot to mention that it is still USA only. I got my hopes up for some streaming service.

I tried it and Volume is super low!
Verizon Trophy running mango

Volume is super low and it doesn't go from track to track, at least not while in the background. Google Music had the same issue with the tracks not switching.

I read in a news article comment that you can adjust the volume by editing the # value @ the end of the URL.

Cool, will have to give it a try.
Vimeo works well, and youtube is great.
There were my big 3 that I was specifically looking to for solid HTML5 support on my phone, so I'm pretty happy now.

Audio annoyances with latest OTA

Unfortunately, I updated to the OTA today (rooted version) to discover that all the quirks I had with CM6 RC1 exist in the official HTC 2.2 ROM as well. ANY solutions to these would be greatly appreciated:
1. Audio quality over streaming (Think Pandora or Slacker) is greatly reduced. I believe I read this being due to a different decoder being used now? Is there any way to fix this?
2. You cannot listen to music and use GPS+voice prompts. As soon as the GPS software talks, the music completely pauses, and will not resume. On 2.1, it would simply mute the music while it talked. This is ridiculously annoying! Any hope for fixing this? It doesn't seem to matter what sort of music, be it the actual music app, Pandora, etc.

Unfortunately that seems to break a lot of other stuff, like the video camera and some video playback. And I can't seem to find any info on the other problem either :/
So HTC still has not fixed the crappy decoder issue?
That would seem to me to be a HUGE issue-- apps like Pandora/Slacker/Last.fm are one of the main drawing points of a device like this.
I am on the leaked 2.2, and Pandora sounds fine to my ears, but Slacker and Yahoo Music sound worse then music you hear when being put on hold in a conference call.

I was directed here http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=9569 yesterday when I brought up the same issue on a different thread. Looks like it actually kicked in at the last OTA, not this one. Before the 1.47 ota, the audio would go right back to playing pandora after nav told you to take a left.

Yeah, it is a huge issue. I use streaming radio at least an hour a day. It's one of the top reasons I give people for owning the device. I'm really disappointed in Google and their apparent lack of QC for letting this type of bug through. Whether or not these apps can do something to fix it, no point OS update (2.1 -> 2.2, e.g.) should break existing functionality in this way. It's really embarrassing.

[Q] All non-CM6 users - did today's Pandora update fix your sound quality?

Pandora pushed out an update today. I haven't been able to test it yet, but supposedly it resolved sound quality issues on 2.2. If you never noticed the sound quality issue before, please don't reply, but for those people who have been going nuts about this, have you been able to test it yet? And if so, what rom are you on, and what results did you get?
And the reason I'm leaving out CM6 users, is because Cyanogen implemented the official google fix in his latest nightly build (which only works on AOSP builds)
I have an hour commute to work everyday. I usually use Pandora during the drive. Lately Froyo totaly screwed this adventure up. Until totay's update by Pandora. I don't think its quite 128k however its a lot better than it was. Big ups to the Devs at Pandora for the improvement. Now as far as any other music set ups, ie mp3's and other streaming audio, I dont know.

Awesome! Thanks - on my end I only heard the snap, crackle, and pops during some songs, and I wasn't sure if it was fixed, or if I just hadn't gotten to a song where I would have been able to tell the difference. The rom I'm using had a temp fix (set to true), so Pandora wasn't as bad for me as it was for some.
Thanks again!

Audio stuttering at the end of each track

Hey all,
got my Omnia 7 the other day and so far its definitely made me drop my iPhone 4, even with all its apps.
that being said the audio is making me second guess that decision. Each track played, the last 10 seconds or so stutter. This is tracks on the actual device and not coming streaming zune marketplace.
This is every track and its more than annoying.
not sure if this is omnia specific or windows phone 7 OS issue.
anyways, besides that little hurdle im very happy with it so far, the omnia comes highly recommended from me besides a couple of bizzare hardware decisions. ( sync/charge port on the top of the device being a notable stupid decision.
hopefully someone can help but feel free to ask any other windows 7 phone / omnia based q's.
did you use zune to pull the iTunes music? maybe try ripping from a cd and then loading it to zune? maybe also try changing the quality of the audio up a bit and get it to reconvert? worst comes to worst... try a hard reset?

the music is a mix of ripped cd's and music bought using a zune pass direct from Zune, I can't see it being the source material. More the player at fault.
I will try a hard reset when im at home and can back everything up.
Thanks for your answers.
hi
i have a htc 7 mozart and have a little problem with sounds as well. more often than not when i get a text come through its like the sound stutters for about 1/2 second then carries on and may play a couple of notes. i contacted htc and they said and i quote "try changing the tone. if the phone still sounds like its juddering/skipping. there maybe an issue. but it could just be the way the tone works. "
Now this has done nothing at all but i cant see there is a hardware fault as its only when a sms comes in that is the problem.
the only issue i have is a small pause at the end of each track, after the brilliance of the zune hd (whoever stole it should burn) i expected more esp as they said it was full zune experiences yet there is also no artist bio (i used to love reading them)

the gapless playing is an issue but not a massive one for me.
losing bio and in particular "similar artists" is really annoying, was a great way to find artists you hadnt previously heard of.
this stuttering is starting to annoy me, pulling the battery and restarting seemed to have resolved the issue but then every now and again it will happen.
I'm looking at an artist bio on my phone right now. When you select an artist, the "tabs" should be albums -> songs -> bio. Perhaps its just there because I am using a Zune Pass trial?

[Q] Zune replacement?

My zune is on its way out with the audio jack starting to give me problems. seeing as i dont have the skills to repair it myself I was hoping to use a family members upgrade who doesn't want a new phone to grab this phone. From a quick play through with it the device feels pretty close to the zune music player. Can anyone tell me more about it as a media player? Also if i were to leave it in airplane mode what could i expect on battery life.

I have the weak but functional HTC Trophy for work because I wanted to learn Windows Phone 7 but not ready to give up Android. It has the Zune player on it but I can honestly say it is not a replacement. For one, we are limited to 16 Gig storage, so you for sure can sync more music than that. And as far as I know, you cannot make playlists with streaming ZunePass music. Plus, I miss the scrolling text, time, etc information as a song is playing like the ZuneHD does.

I'm not sure how you're using the phone for music, but when I go to play a song it shows me album art, time lapsed and time remaining as well as the time of day at top-right of the screen.
I have plenty of playlists, some auto and some not, that include zune pass music and they all work just fine.
I had the old Zune 120GB model and while it had more space I don't know anyone who actually needs 600 hours of music with them at all times, the 16GB has suited me just fine I have a ton of my favorite tracks as well as video/audio podcasts that I take to work with me at all times, it's great.

I was speaking specifically how it will cycle through picture(s) of a singer/band, with the letters going across the screeen, etc. The Zune player on a Windows Phone will not do that.
How can you make a playlist specifically for ZunePass streaming on the Windows Phone Zune player?
Thanks!

Soundcloud issues on HTC M8/Lollipop

Since moving from my HTC One M7 to M8, with the Lollipop update, I've found Souncloud is now completely useless as a music player on the go.
Whilst it used to buffer a song and cache it for future listens, it now attempts a download every single time. Which has two annoying outcomes.
1. If I'm on the move I can barely get 20 seconds into a song before it stops, and struggles to buffer.
2. After listening to a playlist, which I previously listened to on WiFi, I'd expect it to be cached for listening to whilst out of WiFi range, but this month after looking at 'Settings>Data usage' I found that I had used over half a GB (550mb) of data allowance because Soundcloud no longer remembers my tracks.
I'm pretty annoyed by it from a practical standpoint, but I make a lot of use of Souncloud as I'm a musician and share my music on there, however if I have to stream the songs live every single time, it becomes financially unviable. I don't want to use half my monthly data on listening to music. I feel like I've gone back in time.
Anyone else having similar issues?
Literally nobody else?
Unbelievable. I've just heard that Soundcloud have done this deliberately.
The caching on previous versions of the app is not a feature of the current app. It was only available to deliver content quicker to the user and allowing a more streamlined experience. Our mobile engineers have since improved the technical capabilities and therefore limited its capacity.

Ridiculous move. Sounds like the mobile networks will be the only people to benefit.
