Looking for a GSM phone thats as good as the Inc2. Comments??
Inc 2 sim unlocked, buy unlock codes on eBay for cheap for usually any phones with sim cards.

Or you can call Verizon and have them unlock the sim for you.

Very true. ^ The DincS is the Dinc2 but UK version, and it has access to the HTC hub, unlike the Dinc2

There is also a NAM version of the IncS that supports 850/1900 UTMS/3G on AT&T. The European models support UTMS/3G on T-Mobile. I bought a NAM version off of EBay and then bought a DInc2 case and DInc2 Invisible Shield and they fit perfectly.

Hi all,
Im from the UK and going to states in October. I am HOPING that the desire HD gets announced before then and the desire gets reduced in price and i can pick one up contract free for my sister.
Where's a good place to buy them contract free? I took a look at bestbuy but they dont stock desire?!?
I cant think of any other US retailers...
Thanks in advance
There's no good place to buy a Desire in the US, because apart from CDMA Desire (which won't work in Europe at all), the Desire is not designed to work with US networks.
Regards,
Dave

It's quad band GSM so it works with AT&T or T-mobile. I'm using the former because you can now also get 100mb data for US$20 (expires in one month) on prepaid. I'm using it now!

Best Chance is buying it from TELUS in Canada

The Desire A8181 will not work with either AT&T or T-Mobile for 3G - the best you will get is EDGE.
The Desire A8183 will work on AT&T 3G, but not T-Mobile.
Regards,
Dave
P.S. $20 for 100mb prepaid data? You guys are really being hosed by the carriers!
Is your sister going to be using her phone in the US? or in the UK? The US isn't a great place to obtain an HTC Desire because (except for the CDMA version) there are no carriers who sell it, and HTC doesn't sell unlocked phones direct to US retailers. If she's in the UK, buy it on your side of the pond. If she's in the US (if and only if on AT&T), she'd want the Telus (Canada) or Telstra (Australia) version.
My sister is going to use it in the UK.
oh damn i didnt realise it wasnt that big in USA and locked...
I was going to get her a nexus but they're not for sale any more. Dang. Basically i want a cheap Android phone thats has nexus' spec.
I am limited to Edge, that's true!
I have unlimited data back home so the option for prepaid data when visiting the US is great, albeit expensive.

I'd buy from http://htcpedia.com/

Doesn't Vodafone UK still sell the Nexus One? Easier for you to get there than in the US.

Don't know about "cheap" though. Good luck.

The Nexus One *is* still for sale - it's just Googles store that went under.

Every GSM phone has a sim card while CDMA phones don't use sim cards so you wouldn't be able to put in a sim card to activate it

Dont waste your money. If you want an Android phone and on a GSM network you may look into the Samsung Infuse or something similar. But CDMA phones cant be used on GSM networks and GSM phones cant be used on CDMA networks.

Well heres the thing...I haven't had a phone since August and I'm on a tight budget right now. I've been looking at HD2's on Android but most of them are in New York (I'm in NJ)... The last phone I had was the Samsung Vibrant and it was terrible.. Phone calls were lost ETC (mind you, I had it rooted.) Before that, I had an HD2 and bricked it trying to get Android on it.. I've also been looking for a G2X, but still, thats a LOT more money than I was hoping to shell out.. I saw this add and kinda got really excited, since it was real cheap ($100..hes willing to go down to $75).

I found this on Google in less than 20 seconds...
Thinking of unlocking a Verizon Wireless LTE phone for use on AT&T's network, or vice versa? Think again. Verizon Wireless confirmed today that its LTE phones will not "be compatible on other LTE networks in the U.S." because "the phones will be on different frequencies," according to Verizon spokeswoman Brenda Raney.

Can you guys get to the Phone Info screen with the radio menu's? I heard they were taking that out of Sense 4.0, but if not this might be worth looking into. Rezound dev's have it working on GSM now with S-Off running MIUI, If this phone has "hidden" CDMA radios we could have a lot of cross platform dev's without them all having the same phones.

It doesn't. Nor does it have LTE. thus phone will never work on Verizon save someone opening it themselves and transplanting some CDMA radios into it using sorcery.

The AT&T model won't work on Verizon either. The Rezound is a world phone that's why it works on GSM.
Nice insult though.

That's right, confirmed yesterday with a release date of November 13th, the Google Nexus 4 will be a 4.75" Quad Core Snapdragon S4 device marketed by LG.
I know I and many in the HTC Community were looking forward to the supposed HTC Branded Google Nexus 5 (ie HTC Incredible DLX).
The LG branded Google Nexus 4 will not feature 4G LTE capabilities and looks like it won't feature 4G at all. It will offer Android 4.2, 2GB RAM, wireless charging and other features. More can be found here

Pretty sure the LGNexus 4 also only comes in 8gb and 16 gb models... with no sd card. That right there did kind of turn me off of it. One reason I'm not a big Apple fan...
Here's the Google Play store page for it Nexus 4
I was looking forward to the Nexus 4. I was so sad when I found out there was no 4G and it would not be on Verizon. Haven't had a Nexus device yet. Guess now I'm for HTC DNA or whatever they decide to call it...
The simple fact is is that Verizon does not support timely updates or unlocked devices. Its also common knowledge that LTE is a huge battery hog. My brother has T-Mobile HSPA+ 42 and has no problems streaming Netflix, which is what most people complain about. Besides, LTE is only available in 8 countries worldwide and even in those countries its only available in certain areas.
Can someone please fix the ****ing thread title?
Loses

My wife and I are moving to England for a couple years (Air Force), and we would just like to be able to use our Inc 2's over there. Her phone is completely stock, but mine has been rooted and ROM'd. I know Verizon will give the unlock codes for her phone to put a UK SIM car in it, but can I unlock mine? Or does S-Off already sim-unlock the phone? I guess I can try a friend's ATT SIM card in mine to find out. I tried search this morning, but it is unavailable for some reason.
Thank You for all your help!
Yes you still have to unlock. That is unless you unlocked with an XTC clip.
