Apparently it does have Gorilla Glass. Thanks Sprint employees!
Despite Samsung's Salaxy SII having a 4press release(1)4 that says it would come with gorilla glass, Sprint employees(2) that the phone does not have Gorilla Glass(3).

I guess my proof would be the tweet made my VGamble13 plus the lack of any Epic 4G Touch documentation mentioning gglass. (Also the scratches in our Epic 4G Touch after being in a pocket w/o a protector screen...)

I wouldn't find it that surprising... Things had to be cut somewhere to make that $200 price point for the US version.
Not that I think this particular cut is likely... It just wouldn't surprise me!
We are confirming, stay tuned!
I'm a Sprint Launch Product Ambassador supporting the E4GT.
We are confirming with Samsung now whether or not the device has Gorilla Glass and will post to this thread when we know for sure. The Sprint employee may not have had all the facts in his tweet and we have asked that he remove it for now.
Thanks.

You could be right but I wouldn't use a random tweet as fact. The original EVO did not have gorilla glass listed in its specs either.

Can you find out if Sprint/Samsung will replace the charger that came with the ET4G? There are a ton of reports of the cable not being grounded and it's creating some interference with the touch screen while plugged in. I've experienced it with the past with off-brand charger but never an OEM charger that came with the device. Thanks!
Confirmed, it does have Gorilla Glass

Thanks for your patience while we clarified.

Whatever it is, it's good. The Sprint employee at the local store in Orlando took his keys to one and didn't yield a single scratch. Sold me!
Please describe the interference or send me a URL to complaints in forums so I can look into it. Thanks.

Matt, were you invited to a local ET4G training event as well? Just wondering if the rumors are true that we'll be receiving a free phone...
Also, I've been trying to pin down whether or not the ET4G has the NFC hardware and is simply lacking the software, but our rep has yet to contact me. Any chance you can confirm this?

So my phone has a few scratches on the supposedly unscratchable screen and I'm thinking about doing a warranty swap for this. Which of the following issues would probably be more likely to net me a warranty device?
Meh hinge performance.
Poor data connection constantly switching to/from edge.
Actually those are the only two issues I actually have. Any suggestions on what I should say to actually get a warranty device?
Also, please please please no comments on whether this is shady or not. They end up making their money back on selling my phone as a refurb or just shipping it out to someone else as a warranty device. They can fix the scratches, I can't.
Who said the screen was unscratchable?
And if you have the insurance plan, they'll replace your phone no matter what your issues are.

Its amazing that you get your p's and q's from people posting youtube videos. Did they engineer the device? were they on the assembly line putting the device together? Are they related to someone in the r&d department? If the answer is no then I hope you will think a little harder in the future. Its glass...

God, you guys get snarky quick. Yes, I do actually trust a bunch of people on youtube. Why? Its not machines stress testing and what not in a controlled environment. Its a bunch of people taking keys to their screens and thumbtacks and nails and not making a dent. So if I just place mine in my pocket and a few months later is has scratches, I'm concerned.
Thanks for (sort of) answering my question.
Also, minding one's p's and q's refers to typesetting and how it was especially important to pay attention to the orientation of those letters in order to ensure correct placement in print. I'm not sure how that idiom has any relevance to my question.

Sorry, but I just don't see how you can possibly get it fixed under warranty. Neither HTC or T-Mobile claim the screen is unscratchable and as such they'll just call it user damage and give you a price to fix it.

meh... i work for warranty for att.. i assume tmo is similair they dont really care what the issue is. as long as one of them makes you eligible for the exchange.. say your phone screen flickers sometimes.. or its completely black, your your capacitive touch buttons don't light up all the time, or keyboard doesn't like up all the time.. the key is to have a sporadic issue. that way, when they get it and test it.. it CAN have the issue and cannot. which i know a guy who used to work in an warranty center where the "independently test your returned phone" he says thats bull**** and they test a "sample" and **** others out.. thats probably why you will get a phone that has issues worst that you already do.. but luckily if you keep gettin ****ty phones you can eventually trade it for a g2x. or mytouch 4g. if you wanted any of those devices ofcourse.. and yeah, kinda common sense if its NOT labeled as gorilla glass.. it will scratch. lets be smarter than the average joe here and use our head. its not diamond.
anyways... its best to have an issue that cannot be troubleshot easily. like screen is completly black.. lights don't light up, you can only hear people when your on speaker phone.. ear piece doesn't work. something like that.. if you don't really have an issue i wouldn't suggest getting an exchange. just my 2 cents.
oh yeeaeh.. they do charge for physical damage. which includes scratches to the screen. but it their just light you should be fine. wear and tear is acceptable. =] ofcourse like i said.. i work for att.. but my exchanges ive done through tmo i had chipped paint and you could tell my phone had been dropped. never had an issue.

Lolz.
Nothing is unscratchable. There is no such thing. The hardest substance known (except for a couple super-rare minerals) is diamond, which is easily scratched with another diamond.
Corning themselves does not make any claims about Gorilla Glass being scratchproof or even scratch resistant. They just say its "highly resistant to damage".

Its called a 2 strike policy with att... tmobiles is different thou. No phone company is gonna keep sending you the same phone over and over.. with att (which I work for) after they send out 2 replacements.. so your on your third phone that has issues. You get a 2 strike. Different make and model.. which you can choose from a phone in the same tier.. which the provider gives you options and you pick from them. With tmobile.. I believe you have to do 3 exchanges in 90 days.. and they'll send you out something comparable.. seein as the G2 is one of there top tier phones I'm sure a galaxy, mytouch or Gx2 would be an option. just gotta know how to work the system...

Sprint makes phones? The specs were posted before you bought the phone.
It's also thicker and has a bigger screen...
The phone's a different shape and size, too, with a bigger screen. Why would you assume ANY SGS2 accessories would work on it? All carriers make minor modifications to the phones in the US, typically, so buying international-spec accessories is a sucker's bet.

That would require them to have access to the hardware. They have their released for the international unit because it's been out for many months and they had access to physical devices to build around. Odds are they don't get pre-release units from Samsung, so couldn't build one for the E4GT until its release. Hard to expect them to design around something they don't have available to design around.

So you just ask if they have accessories for a phone that has not been announced and they go to the back, get them, and sell them to you?
Just sounds suspect. Did you basically tell them you know they have them and ask to buy? Like "I know you guys have accessories for this phone but don't have the phone yet but look I have a GSM one and want to buy the screen cover/case. Thanks."
I'm sure it sounds like an obvious question but when I tried yesterday they instantly said "nope we have nothing of the sort" while I feel they had some in the back...almost like they were't allowed to acknowledge them or sell them.
So no on the dock then?

Truth is all Verizon regional managers have one and have bee holding trainings with the stores on the phone and ICS. He even went on to tell me theres is coming the 8th/9th. I was told when i called that you had accessories in stock in preparation for your DEC 8TH release. I would like to buy one now.. Thanks" then show him the phone and my video if ya like
Actually its more like some reps/managers are so snooty they dont want to bother going to the back because the commission is not big enough. Try buying a phone and see how much they bend over.

I received a terrible screen from Verizon for my first phone. I was dull, and had weird banding and a dead pixel... They did t believe me until I made them compare mine to a display model. The only issue I had getting a new one was that I had accidentally let the play store re download titanium backup. They then tried to say I was rooted, root checker failed, then they tried to aay the app broek my screen.....

point of sale?!? It's their Nexus phone. GOOGLES PHONE. They have a responsibility, THEY ARE THE QUALITY FILTER TO THE END USER
same as CISCO FOOD filters out horrible food products. What happens if Cisco lets a shipment of bad tomato's in. Customers supposed to blame the farmers?? no they blame the POINT OF SALE CISCO

i'm going to make this simple for you since you clearly have no understanding of how this all works.
google hired samsung to manufacture the phone.
samsung makes phone and QC checks their batches.
samsung then packages and sends phones to google for sale
google takes ALREADY PACKAGED PHONES IN THE BOX and sells them
do you honestly believe google is going to open up sealed boxes and check every phone? if you do, you are completely insane and need to be checked in somewhere.

THE SAD THING IS, nearly all people UNDERSTAND THE PROCESS OF HOW PHONES GET TO CONSUMERS, UNLIKE ME

fixed for you.
To the OP:
Please tell me you've never, in the history of your life, purchased a product, brought it home only to open the package to find its defective. Tell me you never had to return a product to get a replacement, or simply return a product because you weren't happy with it??
If you haven't - then you have horseshoes where the sun doesn't shine... Products aren't HANDMADE anymore... quality control nowadays goes as far as checking 2 or 3 phones out of hundreds on a production line.
Come on man, be serious.

Worthless?
Can the GSM good ol' boys club please be act a little more mature?
@OP: Get it replaced. Typing a bunch of expletives isn't going to fix your screen.

Seriously... why so much rage? If its actually defective, have it replaced.
Our company finally moved from blackberrys to android and iphones.
So one guy already dropped his Note4 and cracked it horribly. Then said he never liked it and wants an iphone instead.
How can I go about repairing this screen as we do not have any warranty or insurance on them.
Since it's useless I get to keep it when fixed so nice perk there.

There are quite a few video tutorials on Youtube.
I'd order a digitizer with a new screen too. Every time I have replaced a screen had to go back and then replace the digitizer too. So now I do both at the same time.

Can you recommend a site and what kind of price range is normal?
I see a big variance from quick google searches
I got mine on ebay. Just be sure to check their rating and reviews before you buy from the seller. I haven't found any cheaper.
