There is an awful lot of dust building up in the bottom left corner of my screen making it really hard to see the screen excpecially when im outside.
Anyone ever have this issue or know an easy way how i can get it out of there?
I have a good bit of dust above the back and search keys. It's starting to get annoying. Especially on black backgrounds.
My 3rd generation iPod touch had the same problem. But I have the 4th gen and there's no dust whatsoever. But I'm pretty sure the screen and glass are fused together somehow.

I have this same issue on my old phone (D2), there's dust underneath the top layer of the screen that I can't seem to get out. Would definitely be interested in a solution for this.

Same problem here but in the top left and now middle of the screen. When I had my Storm I took it in for this and they did replace the phone for me. Right now though I finally got a good dinc after two bad refurbished ones so I think I may hold onto it until my warranty runs out then take it apart and try to clean the dust out myself. From the disassembly videos it looks pretty easy but my only concern is that there is a missing (probably just a foam strip) and this will keep happening. I'd be interested to hear of other people with the same issue and their fixes. The dust is pretty annoying for me too, and especially noticeable in the sun.

Do you guys use invisishield? With my shield an silicone case. , my phone is completely encased.

+1 for screen protector (invisishield is too sticky for me, I like the cheap ones). But if you can't get dust out with compressed air I know I've spilled many solvents on my screen and haven't dissolved it yet (nearly have my Chem degree)

Sorry im a loser
I had an invisible shield for a few months. It was ok, but it started getting dents in it. And they were annoying. Ive been without a screen protector for about 5 months now. And it hasn't scratched the screen at all. There is some scratches on the bottom right corner, but that's just the glass. Not on the screen part. I've even put it in my pocket with my keys a few times on accident.

Damn. Same thing on the D2 I'm getting rid of, not that much dust though. Anyone have any ideas to get that **** out?
I'm fighting with this issue as well, I never had a problem until the glass shattered and i took it apart and replaced it. A couple of weeks ago I took the phone apart again, dusted the screen & glass and put it back together with a piece of tape where I thought the dust would accumulate, to no avail.
My next idea is to find an extremely thin, black, rubberized material to wedge between the glass and the bezel. I have a feeling that there is some kind of lining missing.. Not sure what I wanna use just yet though for this.
Either way I have to take apart the phone one more time to get the dust out. Ill have to have my gf's phone with me to compare as well, maybe see if I can straight up see a piece in hers that isn't in mine.

So I was wiping down my screen ad noticed the tiniest of a scratch on it. I've only dropped the phone twice and definitely not on anything like concrete, cement, or asphault. Infact, I think the hardest surface was tile. What gives?

Why didn't you use a screen protector?
Next time you drop it on tile, this little scratch may become a weak point which ends up cracking the glass.
a piece of average sand will show your Gorilla Glass who's boss.
Use a screen protector...sure, the sand will eat that for lunch too, but, it's gotta do that before it'll get to your screen.
...and just cuz it's gorilla glass doesn't mean it won't break just as easy.
I do construction and tile is just as hard as concrete. I'm suprised the phine survived. Go sammy!

I've actually dropped my phone in the garage, twice, from about 3 1/2 feet off the ground...surprisingly not a single scratch on the glass. Unfortunately for the case itself, a couple micro dents, but nothing serious.

Bleh. I'm 100% anti screen protector. I dropped my old Epic many many times, and never had any problems. I work outside, not in an office all day, and beat my phone up pretty good, and never had any scratches. When I dropped my Epic in the toilet and had to send it in to assurion, we did a fun little test with a key on the screen. I couldn't get it to scratch, break, nothing, and I beat the crap out of it.
I've only dropped my Epic Touch once, and that was down two concrete steps at a TB Rays game. It exploded, with the battery and case going opposite directions, the crowd gasped... yet it came out like a champ. Still looks brand new.
I do hear a lot of people getting tiny scratches, I just don't know how. I guess like someone said, it's scratch resistant, not scratch proof.

I agree. I have a holster so my screen is always covered. When I bought my Evo I had the screen protector pre-installed. I love this screen and wouldn't want anything on it that would make it less sharp.

the metal of the key is softer than the glass, try that with a handful of sand if you want to be underwhelmed with that gorilla glass.
I only say it repeatedly because, well, it's true... I have a friend who got a work-issued dInc, no screen protector. he was all "gorilla glass" this and that. Well, he plays volleyball once a week...He is notorious for making his cellphone screens unreadable...he blames it on change in his pocket. So he said for this phone he will keep his keys and change in the other pocket.
Two weeks later that dInc screen is SO trashed...I mean, I've had some cellphones for 3+ years of "I don't give a fnck" use that didn't look anywhere near as bad.
Got another friend who works in masonry...he's on his 3rd iphone4...he now uses an otterbox...which is trashed. He only replaced the first 2 cuz you couldn't even read anything on the screen anymore.
If no screen protector works for you, cool. I honestly don't see a brightness difference with it on or off....but then again some people use some pretty horrible screen protectors. I also want to assure that I get my $350 trade in for it when it's time to upgrade...which it is in another month or two.

Actually those HTC screen protectors from sprint stores are horrible. They have always been.

Nothing here. I cleaned up the screen for the first time after a month and it's just perfect... probably because i usually leave it in hit case while i don't use it.

I got a galaxy s3 and had no screen scratch however my buddy got his s3 also and has a screen scratch so it depends If it has glass it can get scratched bottom line doesn't matter what phone it is or what type of glass. I have a similar issue, from time to time I feel like the top layer of the phone is detached somehow when it doesn't look like it and oddly enough when I randomly touch the top near the call speaker, you feel that little push to the phone, clicking it back into place

I've had my HTC One X longer then I have had my GS3 and for some reason the GS3 has a small scratch in the screen, while my One X screen is perfect. I thought both of these phones had gorilla 2 on them?

Same thing I've noticed comparing Galaxy Nexus to HTC Sensation and now GS3 with OneX. It seems Samsung puts a oleophobic coating on their phones which helps resist smudges, make them easier to clean. I believe this coating is what you see those fine scratches in. The glass itself is not getting scratched just this coating. I've only seen it on Samsung phones. My Nexus has these fine scratches that can only be seen in direct sunlight and can't be felt or affect the display in anyway. Same thing happened with my GS3 until I swapped it out for some other issue - this replacement GS3 I stuck a screen cover on it so I don't have to be bothered with the fine coating scratches.

For me personally it's bad call. Why get this top of the line phone with excellent screen and then put something on top of it which would make screen duller? This was never an issue with previous Galaxy S phones and Samsung screwed it up somehow with this iteration.

I woke up this morning in a rush, threw my phone in my pocket. Ran out the door to class.
Realized after class when a friend wanted to look at my phone they were with my keys! There are all these little microscratches and a few bigger ones DEAD CENTER.
It isn't too noticeable until light his it from a certain direction.
But I cannot freakin believe that I let that happen. I usually am completely OCD about these things, and I normally put screen protectors and cases on my phone the MINUTE I open the damn thing.
Hell - I do it for all my devices. My laptop, Vita, my gaming consoles, I have protective stuff for everything!
The Note 2 didn't have a Zagg yet, and they list it on their page but it isn't featured or "imaged". The last time I did that with Zagg, the damn thing came to be unpunctured - aka I had to manually cut the material out with a knife (hard as hell to do, near impossible without stretching!)
So I waited one day too long it seems. Screw me right?
I'm so annoyed and bothered now. Brand new phone, brand new scratches. First phone screen scratch issue I've had in over 4 years.
Does anyone know any real solutions (aka not toothpaste -.-) that I could try to buffer them out?

Have you returned phones to ATT before? Im not familiar with the process and how easy it may or may not be.
If you get a replacement, they do sell the Zagg Shields for the Note II at Best Buy. When I first bought my Note 2, I immediately drove to Best Buy and picked up the HD version of the Zagg Shield for it! It definitely looks good on the phone. They had the smudge free version of the shield but I'm not sure if it lowers the clarity...

Happened to me the 2nd day I had my Note.
I put it in my backpack for less than 15 minutes in the afternoon. THAT NIGHT I got my new screen protectors in the mail and as I was going to apply the screen I noticed the scratches all over the screen.
The glass is NOT scratch proof by any means just because it is gorilla glass. Sure typical metal wont scratch the screen but just about anything else will.
I took it back to ATT and they switched it for a new one, no questions asked for the restocking price of 35 bucks.
I slapped a screen protector on my new Note the minute I opened the box.

If it makes you feel any better I cracked the glass completely... I'm also very careful with my phones. It took a 3 foot fall onto pavement (hands not used the size yet) and the glass is completely shattered... it wasn't even 24 hours old. Now I am waiting fr the repair place to get the full lcd+touch+glass screen back in stock - will cost me over $300 to have it fixed.

I'm not sure what kind of glass Sammie is using on the Note 2 but it seems pretty fragile. My original galaxy and moto Atrix handled much worse falls without any damage whatsoever.

The GN2 Gglass debate has already taken place.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1958329
It scratches on every device its been used on so screen protector up or Flip cover to avoid screen damage.
hehe I got lucky on my Epic Touch 4G no scratch ,ding or dents.
GN2 screen is larger more prone to damage so I'm using flip cover protection on it.
I recommend the Tridea case - http://www.amazon.com/Black-Samsung-Premium-T-Mobile-Unlocked/dp/B009SNTHPO/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top
Yeah I'm sure it's not the phone but just having more screen to scratch/crack etc. I always go caseless and without screen protector but I am buying a coat off armour for this sucker once it's repaired

It makes the pen drag significantly, the anti smudge ones I mean. I had to take it off and return it, it was too annoying.

I think you just answered a question I had in another thread...you were able yo return your zagg to best buy with no problems?

You might try one of these. I have never used them but they claim to fill in 95% of the scratches on your screen and they do have one for the note 2.

This may seem like a dumb question and i have seen mixed results and various methods. I just bought a used GNex and didn't look at the screen close enough (deal was at night). The scratches are very thin and can only be seen in direct light, you have to look for the scratch most of the scratches expect one. Not noticeable with the screen on, they are very very thin.
Since its very minor it not to bad, but wondering if there is a way to "fill" it in with something. I have heard of Displex, Brasso, toothpaste, Banana and Banana Skin etc all claim to work on touchscreens. But this is an AMOLED screen and is made of glass as we all know.
I know toothpaste can be used on cars, headlights and CD's and actually have used it in the past. But never on a glass touchscreen.
Do you think any method would work?
I'm inclined to try toothpaste, but i heard the screen has a protective coding that will be removed from the screen if toothpaste is used.
The other idea I had which seems dumb is to use Zagg's solution and see many it will fill it in?
PS Yes I know the screen protect will work, but don't want to hide the scratches but rather fix them.
just live with them, end of story
There is no way to "fix" a scratch. It's an actual piece of glass missing. All that could be done would be to wear the entire screen down to that level, which is what the so called repair kits do. For obvious reasons you don't want to wear down the GNex screen.
Yea,there's nothing to do to fix it.you can hide it,but not fix it. You can on non touch screen gadgets, but not on SAMOLED.toothpaste wouldnt work, banana would just make your screen mute, and you for shure cannot brush it out with sandpaper then polish it. Live with it,believe me,99% of us in the Gnex forum have them,i wanted to cry when i noticed it,but its just not worthy. You will forget about it in a few days.
Mine has a tiny one on the lower left hand side of the screen, and it rarely bugs me anymore. You can only see it from certain angles. And trust me, I'm a freak about this stuff.
I have some of these. Because you actually have to look for them to see them I don't mind at all. If I could see them with the screen on then I'd be *****ing.
I'm just mad i didn't check the phone enough when I bought it, trusted the guy when he said it has no scratches. Well I'm not going to be using it. Its for my momma, paid $200 CAD which was alright.
The scratches are noticeable with the screen off in regular light, but not with the screen on.
If you want to use a screen protector, the wet apply ones fill in the scratch and make it harder to see.

How did you guys scratch the screen? I don't have scratches at all...well after reading this thread I want to say I probably do and will find a few if I look closely enough...

Yeah thinking of getting a Zagg, hate the rubbery feel though. Any recommendations?

I've heard that GhostArmour is less rubbery and there's another brand called *exoskin*(not 100% sure of the name) I think which also makes a wet apply screen protector that's better then zagg.

I recently purchased xoskin and it works quite well. Can't see the scratch on my screen at all. Watch their YouTube video.

Yeah generally the Wet screen protectors will "fill" in micro scratches. If im not mistaken xoskin gives a lifetime warranty as well right?
